There are not a ton of Burmese restaurants out there, but this one was the real deal. The region is a crossroads, and the menu at such restaurants is always dynamic, with dishes redolent of neighboring countries including China, India, and various parts of Southeast Asia. Here, I ordered one dish that felt a bit Indian (a flatbread with chickpea filling), and a chef's special tofu dish that was pan seared with large vegetables and a lemongrass sauce in a style that seemed more Malaysian to me. The tea leaf salad that I ordered is a distinctively Burmese special. I've seen several different versions of their menu posted online. Their vegetarian options have expanded a bit it seems, but oddly, the menu I got on arriving did not clarify what my options were in that regard. Ultimately, requesting the salad without shrimp was a good solution. I also had to ask what drinks were available, and ended up with tea. All of my food was aromatic and possessed an intoxicating mix of tastes and textures, from the mouthwatering fried onions garnishing my bread, to the jasmine rice doused in lemongrass sauce, to the crunchy beans and seeds that add an extra element of texture to Burmese salads. The space was next to the university, and nicely decorated enough to want to eat in. For those that have not tried Burmese cuisine before, I highly recommend it.

Nice casual vibe with food service. The food is very authentic and SO good. Their nasi lemak taste just like it is in Malaysia. Noodles are also amazing. Parking is tough around here but worth the trip!!! If you can order the traditional Burmese food, you should

Delicious food! We did takeout, but I know this would've been so much better fresh. I would go back for these dishes. Staff is so helpful and there's a student discount. Pal Prata w/ Chickpeas: Surprisingly more flavorful than I expected. Loved the crispy onion topping. 10/10 Lahpet Thoke (Green Tea Salad): So unique, tangy, and flavorful. Loved the crispy lentil pieces. Not sure if everyone would like this, but a staple of Burmese cuisine. 10/10 Oh No Kout Swel Coconut Noodle Soup: Would've been fantastic with some spice, which they forgot to put bc I asked for it on the side. 9/10

Everything we tried was great! Our favorite out of all the dishes was the Chicken Curry, but the anchovy/ green tea salad was great as well. Recommend this Chapel Hill spot.

Not sure why this restaurant's overall rating isn't higher - my family and I had a fantastic experience. We went for lunch around 2pm on a Saturday and our server was attentive & kind, and our food was delivered fast. My family has roots in Burma and they could attest this tasted truly authentic to the region they were familiar with. Definitely try the "coconut soup" also known as Ohn No Khao Swe. We also tried the stir fry Burmese noodle which was spicy and delicious. For an appetizer, we had the Burmese tofu (not the tofu most people know - definitely recommend you give it a try!). Can't wait to come back!

The décor and ambiance were inviting and chic, and we were not disappointed. We started with the brussel sprouts appetizer. I was intrigued by the description since I'd never had dried apricot in brussel sprouts before, and I was pleasantly surprised. The apricots and pickled onion worked beautifully together. For my entrée, I ordered the beef bulgogi. OMG--the flavors were out of this world. It was seasoned to perfection, and the portion was generous enough that I had leftovers, which is always a win. My only minor complaint is that the cocktails were on the weaker side, but definitely not a deal breaker. Jujube is officially on my list of go‑to restaurants whenever I'm in the Chapel Hill area.

The restaurant is a chill vibe and the tables are spaced out nicely. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing. We had a tough time deciding because there were so many options we wanted to try. We decided on the BBQ Pork Belly dumplings (10/10 and I don't really like pork), Beef short rib and goat cheese wontons (47/10 unbelievably delicious), Pan-Seared Crab & Shrimp Cakes (7/10), chicken Kung pao (8/10), and we also got the cucumbers. The food was absolutely delicious and we brought home leftovers. Never made it to the dessert menu because we were so full. We can't wait to go back!
