Mediocre food with not very good service. We visited for lunch with family on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the chicken parmigiana sandwich deluxe with fries and chicken noodle soup. The chicken parmigiana sandwich was a lunch special and my wife ordered a 1/2 lb cheeseburger plain deluxe with fries and cream of chicken soup. My wife got a really thin burger ... a kids burger that was awful. My chicken parmigiana was a thin piece of unbreaded chicken with marinara sauce and cheese. The chicken was ok but was salty. The sauce wasn't good. The fries were not good. The fries lack flavor and are bland. They are standard frozen fries. We had a nephew order a hotdog and a niece order a hot dog. The waitress came back after everyone had their food and told our nephew they ran out of hotdogs! He ordered chicken tenders and fries instead. They took forever to receive but there was no charge. The chicken tenders here the best thing to order and are pretty good. Overall, our first experience here wasn't a good one. read more

Stopped in for lunch today with my girlfriend. Pretty decent food and nice people. Ordered the nachos for an appetizer and a patty melt. She ordered chicken skewers on rice. We were both satisfied with the flavor and the fries were nice and crispy. Best part about the place was the fair prices. All that food and the bill only came to $37. I'm sorry to say... old food. If you want 1970 food this is the place. Menu is limited and not up to date. Appetizers were fried to death. Ribeye was thin and overcooked. Salad was wet and small. Baked potato was good. Thank goodness for hot sauce! Spaghetti needed salt and pepper to get it down. Garlic bread was blah. This place is pretty legit. They boast a decent menu with good staff. Overall, this restaurant is a nice addition to Manhattan. I have been here twice for dinner and once for lunch thus far. The two dinner experiences were completely different; the first time was with their very limited grand opening menu and the 2nd time was months later with a more robust menu. Both times boasted fantastic food. The wait time was a little slow, but it was a packed house (especially in the bar area). Me and my family's main gripe with this place was the lack of food before the main meal. A nice addition would be soup, salad, or some of those delicious Kirby's Bakery rolls before your meal (especially when the place is packed/wait for food is longer). My girlfriend and I also visited for lunch, which was a pleasant experience. We were the only people there, and the prices and food were both amazing! Most items were $4.99-$6.99, which included a side (and included soup for me too!) I have yet to try breakfast, but I am sure I will soon. The beer list is incredible. On my first visit, I was astonished at the number and variety of craft brews. What a fun place! We surprised my husband's aunt, uncle, and cousins and stopped by. Roadhouse is located in a small Illinois town and is tucked away on a side road surrounded by trees. The joint looks like roadhouses you've probably seen in the movies. They serve food, which I didn't eat, and alcohol, which I did partake. We joined the family on the patio to listen to the band River Road Trio. They were very good! There was a nice breeze and you could see endless stars in the sky. I love country and country rock music. (among many other music genres). The band played all of my requests. Peaceful, Easy Feeling by the Eagles (love this song a lot), Jackson and Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash, Thank God I'm a Country Boy by John Denver (RIP!), Keep your hands to yourself by Georgia Satellites, etc. The bartender kept my wine glass full (gotta love that) and I two-stepped with my uncle and husband. The atmosphere was so friendly and welcoming. The service was very good. The drink prices were even better. Even though they offer over 100 varieties of craft beer, the wine list was so-so. However, I didn't care. I was drinking and dancing the night away with family. There's no place I'd rather be. read more

Just what the small town of Manhattan needed, a sit down restaurant with a friendly family environment, and an attached bar which includes a dozen craft beers, including local breweries, big screen TVs, and a Bloody Mary bar on Sunday's until 2 p.m. I have loved everything I have tried from the pulled pork, brisket, and competition style ribs, to the daily sandwich specials and house made soups. The wait staff take the time to get to know you (especially our lady Debbie!!) and as long as your understanding that a local *small town* restaurant will have some kinks from time to time, it's great! We happened upon this place by accident as we are not from the area but what an amazing experience. The moment we walked in we were pleasantly greeted and promptly seated. We really wanted to like this place and ordered carry out. Having a restaurant in town is great. For starters the outside of the building looks terrible compared to the inside which is very clean and updated. The outside does not make me desire to go in, and brings up visions of Patrick Swayzes' Roadhouse. We ordered two full slabs of ribs, Mac and cheese, etc. The ribs smelled awesome, but weren't what we expected at all. The smoke flavor and dry rub were so overpowering we didn't even finish the slab (very disappointing as this was supposed to be a highlight here). We literally could not taste the meat and took a knife to scrape off a thick layer of rub, which still didn't help. :( The rest of the food was ok, with the chicken tenders being the best thing of the lot. As said the staff was very nice, inside was clean, outside of the place is very ugly, food so-so. Unfortunately for almost a $65 tab with tip for two people we could find much better food at a different venue and most likely will. read more

A friend and I had stopped here after going for a hike at Midewin Prairie in Wilmington. Very delicious food and great service! We ordered the two meat Platter came with two sides was plenty of food to split between the two of us. Picked the pulled pork, brisket, mashed potatoes, and baked beans. Every thing was very tasty! Real mashed potatoes too!! Would definitely come back! Also would like to try their breakfast. When we got our check Lisa our waitress had given us $3 in coupons for our next visit. I doubt you'll find a vampire within a 100 miles of this restaurant. Mashed potatoes and green beans had way too much garlic. Cornbread was dry and hard, and served with drizzled honey. We LOVED this place at the Manhattan beer fest. Sad to say it was better mobile than at the restaurant. Service was OK but with how slow it was it could have been better. Brisket was pretty good but whoever was slicing obviously had never worked in a BBQ restaurant before or just doesn't know how to slice it. Slices came cut with the grain and not against it. While still pretty good it tasted more like roast beef and not like brisket. Sides were OK. Beer selection was very good. Cornbread on any menu is a big plus but this was just average. With all the local BBQ restaurants opening up around the competition is coming. Slicing it wrong is a HUGE nono to any BBQ fan. Not sure if we'll be back. read more

My husband and I are new to town and I think we ate here 3 or 4 times the first couple of weeks after we moved lol I've never been on the bar side but the diner side is nice. Kid friendly and great food! We've been to their all you can eat buffet brunch on Sunday's a few times too! There's a pretty decent Bloody Mary bar and mimosas! And omelets are made to order! Under new management. No more smoked meats, but hearty American fare. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Have had breakfast and dinner here and both were very good. Roadhouse 52 was excellent! Go here now. Pros: Hooray! A restaurant with an extensive beer list, but no TVs and the dining area was well-separated from the bar (Bar? What bar?). We much prefer looking at the historical photos and conversing. We arrived at an off-hour so had the place to ourselves for 20-30 minutes, til everyone started following us in. It was still quiet enough for conversation. We left with our hearing intact. Starr was a wonderful server, friendly as family, but not over bearing. She asked if we liked IPAs, and with an affirmative answer, her recommended Evil 3 Triple IPA that was quite tasty, smooth, and easily hid its 11.5% ABV. A pint can too, unlike some local brewhouses that serve anything over 8% in a shot glass. Her dinner recommendations were spot-on, both of us loving the baby back ribs, and I had the brisket too. Excellent balance of spice and smoke, tender, but not par-boiled fall of the bone. My smoker is in retirement; I can never match the skill they have. Little things: The Hushpuppies were delicious. Bite-size, well-seasoned, and fried correctly, so they were not the oil sponges like some places serve. The side salad, billed as just head lettuce, was actually a nicely done mixed greens salad with house made ranch. Starr coaxed us into an appetizer and we're glad she did. Mozzarella sticks with marinara, and she also brought a cup of the house made chipotle mayo. Good bite, well balanced, a simple side that many have trouble with, but Roadhouse 52 got it right. I had the meatloaf was a little dry needed more gravy. Went there on a Saturday night very busy staff a little unorganized. Prices pretty good will try going again to see if they improved. Table of 4 on Irish fest it was a smaller menu and that was ok but we ordered soda and the one was dirty glass and overcarbonated and then we ordered appetizer which were ok but we sat for 15 min with no waters ( which we requested) and when we complained about the pop she went in the back and loudly gasped "oh wow" . We decided to eat and pay for the appetizers and went to new Lenox for dinner! 3 waitresses and one guy and one table and a couple that were just leaving and to have poor service was surprising ...we will not be back very sadly read more
