On the road, looking for something quick, but also NOT fast food. With that being said...we found ourselves giving the Roadhouse Restaurant a try. Sitting in between a few gas stations, this place doesn't scream "COME HERE", but it was a great meal for the bf and I. I went with a chef salad, which was full of fresh veggies, turkey, ham and few cheeses. The bf went with a burger and fries and loved it, as I did my salad. We had great service, food came out very quickly and the restaurant was very inviting. They also have a clean bathroom, which is a bonus when you're on the road. Overall...If I find myself ever in the area again, I'd be happy to dine there. read more

Road trip from/to Vegas? Gas stop and food break needed? Mandatory stop here for a good sit down meal and stretch those legs! Someone mentioned they couldn't find it and I'm not sure if the address listed is accurate since the yelp arrow and the maps blue dot did not align. It's in the same lot as 76 gas station and Burger King - across from chevron - between highway 58 and 395 at kramer junction. We came during lunch but ordered off the breakfast menu.. We got a couple omelettes, breakfast burritos and chili! It was delicious and totally hit the spot! Our server was super patient and sweet. Stopped here going thru town. Chili size fair because burger over cooked and tuff. I got fried chicken dinner and was not impressed. It was more like three small chicken tenders. It came with peas and carrots which were alright. Way over priced for what you got. I wouldn't come back. read more

Came in on 10/23/2021 @11pm and wasn't greeted also both side of the restaurant had signs that said closed and notice a older sever at the end of restaurant look up at and she didn't acknowledge the fact that we were there I asked where do we sit and she goes anywhere in the middle. I said before I sit down can I use the restroom to wash my hands she said no there closed we already mopped the bathrooms & theres a gas stations across the st you can go wash your hands over there. Thank goodness my friend had Disinfecting wipes in her car. Hubby and I were hot and tired since driving from Cottonwood AZ on our way to Sacramento in a Uhaul. I was starving and I didn't know of anything till Bakersfield. Greeted by friendly waitress who tried to find a spot to fit me. I am not a tiny person. The menu had great prices considering the location. We had the ice tea and they even gave us large refills to go at no extra charge. The food was good diner quality fare. My burger was good. Hubby had the pastrami he said was ok but he is a very picky person. I went into the restroom expecting old smelly decay. Wrong, the bathroom was gorgeous. Nice little diner in the middle of the desert and had a Thelma and Louise feel to it. The waitress was really very sweet and on top of things. A lot of people came in, including what appeared to be locals. You know the kind, the ones who know everything about everyone in the town? I got the hot pastrami on rye sandwich and was disappointed. The meat was half gristle so I don't recommend it. However, I'm not a fan of rye bread but that bread was amazing! Usually it's the other way around. I love the meant, the bread not so much. This time though the bread was tender and grilled to perfection. Man it was good! The husband got some chili and something else that I can't remember, but I do remember it was really good. What I should have done is gone with breakfast. A lot were eating breakfast dishes even though is about 3 in the afternoon and they looked amazing! The bathrooms were neat and clean. That's important to me because if they can't keep that clean, then what else are they not keeping clean? I mean think about that for a minute. All in all I was really happy with the restaurant and thinking back, I'm sure my gristly sandwich was an anomaly and I bet if I had asked they would have fixed that. Positives: Great Location! Super friendly staff. Chili was a hit with my teenage son. Bathrooms are relatively clean which are few and far between. One of the only places to eat in a hour and a half radius. Negatives: Food is definitely not fresh which is not good when the next stop is an hour away. So, as has been pointed out, The Roadhouse is the best sit-down option on the US-395 stretch between Riverside and Ridgecrest. There's a BK next door, and a Pilot truckstop across the road, and I think I saw Subway. Come to think of it, other than those and he Roadhouse, I don't think there's ANYTHING between Adelanto and Ridgecrest. (Edit: I just looked at Google maps and I'm SURE there's nothing else. FYI Astro's Burgers is closed.) That being said, the Roadhouse is OK. The place is always clean (I've stopped in maybe 10 times in 20 years), and the service is usually quick. The food is, well, 'plain' is the best word. Not great, but not at all bad. I had the French Dip this past weekend, and it's fine. I had one of the kids' chicken tenders and it was pretty good, and the fries were good too. Prices are decent. They have assorted pastries up front which look good but I've never had one. So if you don't want fast food, and want to sit in a decent booth for your meal, by all means stop in here. read more

Could be a 5 star if my next visit is as good. This is fairly close on our way out of the area to go North. We stopped here for my first time (I think) last week and I am a fan. I had breakfast with Corned Beef Hash. I like my breakfast in general well done and usually have a hard time with ordering it that way but keeping my eggs over easy/medium. Everything was cooked perfect and was one of the best I have had. The waitress was great and wish I had her name, even put my tea in a to go cup. Over all I look forward to stopping here again next time out. Plenty of food. Pass this place frequently, decided to give it a try. I didn't expect much. I ordered a rib eye steak with baked potato & green beans. Came with a salad and a cup of apple filling? Food came out hot and fresh, good flavor. Service is good. You can feel the air trying to cool but we are in the desert. Overall I'll be back, good home cooked style meal while you're far from everything. They have sweets to but I haven't tried any. It's pretty clean inside as well. If your stomach is talking to ya, I'd stop here. Only bad is it's a little warm inside. But I overheard them calling a repair man so hopefully it's cool next time in. read more

What a great find! We stopped for gas on our way up to June Lake and decided to have a little breakfast before we got back on the road. The restaurant is nice and clean inside and our waitress Yesenia was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the French toast combo and my husband ordered the blueberry pancake combo. Both were excellent. Their French toast is on their homemade cinnamon bread. The eggs were light, fluffy and delicious. The portions were big and we couldn't finish our food even though it was So good. We will definitely be back! read more

Hot day on a motorcycle. And when I say hot, I mean HELL! We pulled in here and scarfed a good meal, drank lots of iced tea and hit the road again. The restaurant was about as clean as my teenager's room on inspection day. It looked OK on the surface, but when I touched the side of the table, my hand stuck to it. The Ladies Room wasn't too clean either, like my teenager's bathroom. (You just don't want to think about it.) The food was good, but nothing too amazing. My burger was delicious. My fries. . . not so much. And I love fries! These were just mushy. Not sure about that. The iced tea was from a mix, and not really very tasty. When you're dying in the desert you'll drink anything right? Well, I'm kind of a tea snob, so I only like real tea brewed properly. So if you're not a tea snob, ignore this section. Stopped here for the first time Labor Day weekend, we always stop at the gas station right next to it, as we head out to mammoth every year. I'm sad to write that this was not on my go to again list....:/ we shared the sampler appetizer, the chicken wings were cold at the center, and the chicken strips were not the texture I Expected. Got more of the compressed chicken. The worst part was I was really bummed out to see that the salsa that was part of it was Pace salsa picante...... And tostito scoop chips... I was like really? I mean the have cooks back there and they can't make a salsa? Maybe that's just it for them. I've never seen that. The place was clean very friendly environment. Which is always good. Yup, 'A-OK'. This place is one of my main stops when on a trip up the 395. We always stop here for breakfast on the way up and have stopped a couple times for dinner on the way back. It's a simple good place to sit while the sun rises after an early morning departure and it's a place to sit down for a bit after hauling back from Mammoth. The food is nothing special, nothing great, and just food. Breakfast is always standard, the sandwiches are always straight forward and good. The key here is that this will fill you up, give you a good break, and it's the best place to do so along the 395 for quite a while in either distance. We were heading home after a weekend of camping and the grandkids were hungry. So, we stopped here. The girls got hotdogs, which were actually pretty big. One granddaughter's only complaint was that it didn't fit the bun. Hubby ordered a burger, said it had no taste, no seasoning, blah. I ordered the sample app. I don't usually eat a lot of fried stuff, but I was nit very hungry and wanted some chicken and potatoe skins. The chicken had no seasoning, the cheese sticks were not melted, everything else was meh. We went to BK next door for shakes, and will stop at BK for the girls if we are ever passing by here again. We always come here when traveling in the area. Never had a bad meal until today. I ordered a simple half sandwich (turkey) and soup (Clam Chowder) $8.99, my husband ordered a French Dip and fries $10.99 After eating about half of the half sandwich something smelled off, I opened the bread and smelled the turkey and it was rancid so I stopped eating it, Clam chowder seemed just okay but did not eat all of it. My husband's beef on the French Dip was the same, he said pretty bad when the fries were the best part of the meal. We drank water. Upon leaving I had to go straight to the bathroom, was in there for 15 minutes. Got into the truck where my husband was waiting and he told me the bill came to over $26...for what? After driving for 20 minutes my stomach started hurting so bad, we are trying to get to our hotel room in Indio (we're from Arizona) and my stomach hurts so back I think I need to go to the hospital. I arrived just looking for some food, and left impressed! First time in here and it seems nice! Laid back, seat yourself. I stopped in the restroom first, then returned and sat in a booth. Was greeted almost immediately. I settled for the chicken quesadilla and chose salsa and sour cream with it. You can choose ranch dipping sauce if you prefer that. Good job! Quesadilla had a crisp crunchy outer and juicy inner. Good balance of flavors. Slices were cut all the way through and layered atop each other to minimize them getting soggy. For dessert, I got the pineapple empanada a la mode. Ice cream scoop was good amount, not runny alongside the empanada that was heated perfectly as requested. Very good! Great service throughout my experience, regardless of it being a slower evening. I'll stop back if I'm through the area again! read more
