Dave was really great in terms of setting up the move and estimating the cost of the move without even seeing my stuff. Omero and his three fellow movers were prompt and very efficient. They definitely followed through on everything that they promised. My move involved a stop at a storage place and then to my house in Cambridge. They took the time to wrap my furniture and inventoried every item. It was delivered to NY half an hour early and unloaded quickly. We had a great experience with Roadrunner. Despite the fact their estimate was 7 hours (and we were prepared for 7 hours) the guys completed the job in 5 hours...saving us some more money, on top of their already low rate! The three guys that came and moved us were professional and amiable. We moved to a third floor walk-up to a house that had three floors. They moved everything quickly and the vast amount of stairs didn't seem to phase them. I could go on and on about them...but you really must use them if you are moving! My husband and I moved from a 100 year old home in Charlestown, MA to Newton, MA on 8/24/2010. 8/23 and 8/24 were terribly rainy and windy days in short awful days to move. Our roadrunner crew came on the 23rd to pack us and made sure to wrap all the pieces of furniture they could in advance in order to be prepared for the morning in case there was a window of time without rain as we had to have several items hoisted out of our home and it would have been too dangerous had there not been a dry period. The crew (Matt, Tony, Elisio, Danny and Peter) arrived early on the 24th as it was not yet raining and got right to work on hoisting the necessary items out. They all made it into the truck before the rain began to fall! Had they not been so prepped the day before we would have had to postpone this part of our move! From there everything else went smoothly. We were expecting an extremely stressful day as that was our experience when we moved into the home several years earlier. Instead the crew took all the roadblocks in stride and worked together to figure them out! They kept their cool and were all super polite and great to work with! You can tell they take their jobs seriously and use their brains to make what can be an extremely difficult and stressful day go as smoothly as possible! We had some items in storage so when one truck was full half of the crew went to pick those up and the other half stayed and finished in Charlestown. Everything was unloaded in Newton in record time (much easier house to maneuver in!) and when we paid the bill that day they came in UNDER their estimate!!! We thanked them profusely for making a very complicated move easier and they answered with a smile and said 'once in a while we like a challenge'! When we unpacked everything was in excellent condition. The only piece that got damaged was our patio umbrella and they are going to reimburse us for it! I would also like to add that the crew NEVER stopped working! There were no lunch breaks, cigarette breaks- nothing! They worked non-stop and were courteous and professional throughout while maintaining a jovial attitude- tough to do when you are hoisting furniture over decks with a hurricane on the way! We just moved from a 4th floor walk up in the South end to a row house in Charlestown and Roadrunner is the only reason we were able to do it. There was a core group of three movers with a number of other guys who came to help at a phone call when needed. The team was professional, efficient, incredibly nice and did miracles with big furniture in small staircases. Roadrunner was so easy to deal with, honest, and professional. Moving is so stressful and these guys GET THAT. The entire Roadrunner team made our move from Salem MA to New Orleans so much easier. When I first called to set up the appointment for the estimate, the guy who I spoke to was very relaxed but very informed and informative. We made the appointment, the guy showed up on time, and gave us our estimate. It was less than we'd anticipated, and we booked them. Also, this was all VERY quick turnaround. The time between when we decided to relocate and the date of our move was less than a month. Day of the move, we had 4 guys come in and whisk everything out of the house. We just needed to stay out of the way, basically. The crew leader would check in with me periodically, see if I had any questions, and would ask questions if there was any doubt on anything (we were leaving some stuff behind). There was one extra charge based on having to hoist a dresser down from the 2nd floor, but it was discussed first and we agreed to it, having expected something of the sort. (my husband had forgotten to mention the possibility during the initial assessment.) While on the road, the crew leader kept in touch regularly to update us on their location, which was a great relief, as we were driving down too and did't want to be out of sync with the moving van. When they showed up (on the earliest end of the timing estimate) the 2 who had made the trip got everything in quickly and professionally, exactly where we wanted it. One word: Awesome! We moved the last weekend of March and the guys from Roadrunner were simply awesome. Martin came by in early March to give us an estimate. He was thorough and gave us a detailed quote with options for packing and unpacking. He gave us advice on things we could do to save money for the move and explained how everything was broken down. Sabrina could not have been nicer when we called to set up the actual move. Then, on move day, Joe and his team were super efficient. They had a team of 4 and each of them had a specialty: foreman, packer, runner, utility. Between the 4 of them, they had the house unloaded in just over 3 hours, despite having to work around cars parked in the permitted location. When they came to move us into the new place a couple days later, the trucks were empty in 3 hours, despite it being a 4 floor walk-up. Just had a wonderful experience with these guys moving from the North Shore to Wisconsin. They were professional and friendly every step of the way. The administrator at the office, Sabrina, was very pleasant and easy to work with. Our estimator, Dani, was thorough and very accurate (considering we had a 3br house, a full basement, a shed and a storage container). The packers were very courteous and, like other reviewers have said, they really hustled! There was no slacking or even a lunch break! Rob, Josh, Alyssio, Mike and Joe were all a pleasure to work with. The loading was done on a rainy day. These guys did what they could to not track rain and dirt into the house. They pulled the truck up to our stairs and were able to get the bottom of the ramp on our covered porch. Rob did a great job supervising everything. Josh, Paolo, Steven and Dennis all really worked hard again to get everything loaded. Again, the crew was very pleasant and friendly. Rob kept us well informed of when our things would be delivered. They arrived during the specificied time and again really hustled to get our things unloaded. Rob, Josh and Paolo even worked through pouring rain and tornado warning, now that's dedication! I chose RoadRunner because of the great yelp reviews, and am happy to report I can now add my own 5-star review. RoadRunner moved me out of my apartment in September. The team arrived on-time, were quick and courteous. No problems, a very easy experience. Since I didn't know where I was moving to yet, they held everything in storage for me until I figured it out. I ended up moving to California. They quoted me a price to move it out there that was very high (yet competitive with other quotes). So I decided instead to put it into self-storage. Once I chose a storage facility (they helped with that also), RoadRunner contacted them directly and arranged the move (all while I was in California!). I arrived a week later to check-out my stuff -- everything was there, nicely stacked. I spoke to Dave this week about an upcoming move. He was very helpful on the phone and asked me to give him a detailed inventory of my belongings. One would assume that he took this information down. I called two days later to see if they would come do an in person estimate. And they refused to do one because I have a one bedroom apartment. I have never heard of this. I had a competitor come the day before and do an in person estimate. Not only that, but there were no notes on my inventory that I gave Dave two days ago. I am moving from MA to SC and I called them after reading all these reviews. Person who spoke with me was very unprofessional. First of all he was not willing to move forward and give me in home estimate till I agree to move with them. They do not give estimate on weekend or after 5 on week days. When I asked him so what should we do when we are working to get an estimate his reply was to take a day off??? I think that is unprofessional. They might be good but there are lots of Big companies like United, Allied and May flower who are willing to give in home estimate at my convenience. This past summer (Aug/Sept. 09), I was looking for a company to perform an interstate move for me - from Maynard, MA to Fayetteville, NC. I wanted a company that would send a crew to put my stuff on the truck in Maynard and have the same team travel with it all the way without any "relaying", no truck changes or stopovers, and deliver it in Fayetteville. I wanted a company that would offer packing services if I needed it, and I wanted a company that would treat my belongings as their own. And I wanted all that service at a reasonable cost. After much internet research and reading of reviews, I chose three companies as "possibles" and called each of them to get a quote. Roadrunner was the second company to come to my home to give me an estimate. Dave was very professional and personable and had a good sense of humor. It was obvious that he'd been in the moving business for a long time, and it only took him a quick look at my things to give me an estimate of costs for the move. He assured me that Roadrunner could provide all the services that I was looking for -- packing services, reasonable cost and no "relay" system. We then talked about the scheduling of the move. I was concerned that the guys would arrive in NC before I did, so I outlined my plan for getting there -- I was going to drive down with a friend; we would leave Maynard on September 24th, take three days to drive to NC, arriving in Fayetteville on the 26th. I would stay in a hotel for 2 nights and the guys could deliver on the 28th. Dave assured me that it would work out fine. Then we talked about the quote itself, and Dave assured me that he always tried to estimate high rather than low so there would be no surprises at the end. After getting the quote from the last mover, I decided to go with Roadrunner, based on Dave's professionalism and all the assurances that he gave me. As you'll see later, most of these assurances didn't stand up very well. Wednesday, September 23 - moving day - rolled around much quicker than I wanted it to. But the guys (4 of them) arrived promptly at the scheduled time and got right to work. There was quite a bit of packing left for them to do, but in three hours, they had everything in boxes and the truck loaded. For the moment, I was extremely satisfied. Fast forward to Sunday, the 27th. Dave had told me that the guys would be in touch with me as they went along, particularly as they got closer to Fayetteville. On Sunday, some guy named Danny (who I hadn't met) called me to say that he was my driver and asked when I was expecting delivery. I told him tomorrow. He said, well, I don't know if that's possible. I said well, that's what I was promised and that's what I'm expecting. He said he would get back to me. When the whole day went by without further word from Danny, I called Dave in a panic. I wanted to know what was going on, who Danny was, and if my belongings were going to arrive on the scheduled day. I told him if not, then I'll have to book the hotel room for another night. Dave said well, I'm not working today, this is actually my day off, so let me make some calls and find out what's going on. He called me back in a little while, and explained that one of the guys had gotten sick in NY, and they had to turn the job over to someone else - Danny -- but that he would be there as promised. So, the first assurance that I got about the same team picking up and delivering was out the window. The second assurance about scheduling and promptness was about to go down in flames as well. Danny called me from the road a couple of times on Monday to say that he was getting close, but probably wouldn't arrive until mid-afternoon. That was much later than I had planned, and I was not happy, but there wasn't much I could do but wait. He finally called around 3:00 Monday afternoon to say he had finally arrived in Fayetteville and that he was going to pick up a helper and would see me shortly. I said fine. About half an hour later, the truck pulled up outside my apartment building. Only 2 guys this time - neither of whom was on the original team that left from Maynard. Again, I was not happy. I knew right then that it was going to be a long night. My first inclination was to help unload the truck, just to get the job done quicker, since it read more

I have moved TWICE with Roadrunner in the past 5 years. The first time was in-state, from Charlestown to Malden, MA. It was an easy move out for them, as I was living on the first floor and I packed everything the best I could. What I didn't pack, they wrapped up... even my old television that was probably worth less than the blanket they wrapped it with. The had everything in the truck in less than an hour! The move in was definitely a more difficult tast, as I was headed into a 4th floor apartment in a huge complex. The only access was a small elevator... an elevator that half the buildings residents needed to use as well. I thought the property manager was going to have an aneurism, but... Roadrunner pulled it off with minimal interference! No interruptions for the residents going about their day, and they were very careful... not a ding in the brass and glass interior of the elevator. My neighbor didn't even know anyone was moving in they were so quiet! The manager of the building actually said that they were the most pleasant movers he has come across. My stuff was in the new apartment in a matter of a few hours total. Easy peasy! :D Next up was my out-of-state move from Malden to Portland, Maine. Same situation.. 3 guys, a truck, boxes, blankets, minimal interference, elevator... easy. They actually beat me to my new place in Maine! They moved everything in, and I was left with the rest of the day to unpack... it wasn't even noon. Yay! Also, I had a piece of furniture that I could not take with me, and they totally helped set me up with storage. It was fantastic! Anytime I called for "advice" they were more than helpful. Like many other reviewers, my boyfriend and I have felt pretty overwhelmed with gratitude for Roadrunner since completing our recent cross-country move: moving with Roadrunner was an experience as far from the usual moving horror stories as either of us could have hoped. From Dave's initial visit to do an estimate, through the loading day in Massachusetts (amazingly speedy, it's worth noting), to the delivery day the next week in Oregon, everyone connected with the company was professional, kind, efficient, and a pleasure to work with. Paulo, who drove our stuff across the country, even managed to arrive five or ten minutes early on the morning of the delivery. The additional movers he hired locally made a good impression on us, too. All of our belongings arrived in good shape, with nothing broken or even remotely damaged, though a few boxes had some superficial dents or rips that were initially alarming to notice. Another wonderful surprise was that the cost of the move ended up coming in under the quote, and being comparable to the estimate we had gotten from a larger national company. For the peace of mind of having our belongings travel so far in one truck, without crew changes, and handled by people who inspired a lot of confidence, I think we would happily paid even more. We just had a long-haul move from Cambridge, MA to Atlanta, GA and decided to use Roadrunner Moving and Storage located out of Charlestown, MA. I had done an extensive amount of research using this site and others to decide on a moving company. In fact, I had 6 onsite estimates. By far, Roadrunner was the best option. The gentleman who handled our move (Dave) was extremely polite, professional and trust-worthy. He really made me feel comfortable from the onset and addressed most of my questions without me even asking them! There were a few other moving companies who I believe would have done a good job but after looking through several factors including price, GNTE contract, delivery window and trust level Roadrunner was the clear winner. I spent several weeks packing up many of our belongings but we still had a lot of items left which Roadrunner handled with exceptional efficiency and care. On packing day, we had the crew manager David along with 2 others come in and spend about 6 hours meticulously wrapping and packing all of our kitchen and fragile items. These guys worked their tails off and took a 10 minute lunch break. They were extremely polite and all business. When they found a small crack in some of our fragile items they would point it out. I found out at the end of the day that the crew manager would be the one who would also be driving down to Atlanta. Both my wife and I were very happy to hear this as he clearly had a lot of experience. On load day, David returned with a team of 3 guys who were extremely efficient and did an amazing job covering all of our furniture and moving it to the truck. My wife even noted how well they packed and handled all of our items. 2 days after leaving Cambridge the truck arrived at our residence in Atlanta. All along the way, I was informed of the truck status and estimated delivery time. I was very happy to see David with one of the loaders from a few days earlier. These guys are machines! I know it is their job but we have extremely heavy hardwood furniture and they made it look easy going up and down 2 flights of stairs. Once the truck had been unloaded, the crew meticulously took each of the fragile items out of the box to confirm that all items were not damaged. There was not a single item that was damaged during the move...NOT ONE! After a grueling several hour unload, the crew even agreed to move several items for us to a storage unit which was about 1 mile from our residence. Then they were off for another move up north. Sorry for the long review here but I think it's important to point out great service! This company is top notch in every aspect. However, just because they were the most affordable did not mean that they compromised on service. All of the people from Roadrunner that I interacted with were pleasant, professional, and organized. I was especially impressed with my moving team, who treated me and my belongings with the utmost respect. Not only did everything arrive in good shape, they even took the time to find and secure a chair screw that had come loose prior to the move. Furthermore, they never complained about the bulky furniture, the heavy book boxes, or the conditions (such as the heat and humidity in Brookline or the heat and the stairs in Indiana), and they got everything moved in a timely and efficient manner. In addition to the quality work the team did, the move was able to be completed under the initial estimate I received. For someone who was moving with a budget, this was an important factor. Given the weight of my stuff as well as the first-class efficiency, professionalism, and demeanor of everyone I encountered during my experiences with Roadrunner, this was an excellent bargain that seemed like a luxury experience. read more

Roadrunner delivered my personal effects that had been in storage for 12 years during which time I paid some $40,000 to the three companies that had custody of the storage (it change hands twice during the timeframe). Pieces of my $13,000 master bedroom were not delivered, which I valued at over $6000 based on comparable furniture. Roadrunner told me too bad as fine print in the contract does not require them to reimburse anything. Terrible response, in the end they would not even talk to me. Coordinating a cross country move can easily become overwhelming. OK, I admit it...I had a few meltdowns in the process of coordinating our move from Boston to San Francisco a few months ago. There are lots of moving pieces, one of them being figuring out how to get your stuff from one coast to another without any problems. This is where Roadrunner comes in! The hubs and I chose Roadrunner to move our stuff from Boston to SF in October and we are so happy that we did. Martin was great in coming out to our place two times without any issue to give us a quote (our move date was a bit of a moving target). Dani, the crew chief and our cross country driver was super detail oriented and kept us posted throughout his drive and was very transparent when he encountered a minor mechanical problem with the truck that needed to be fixed before crossing into CA from NV. This caused a slight delay in us getting our stuff delivered in SF, but because Dani kept us posted, we were able to squeeze in more 'sight seeing' on our cross country road trip. This was by far the best moving company that we have ever worked with and they exceeded our expectations. After looking at numerous moving companinies we found Roadrunner offered a very reasonable price...Dave provided us with a price range and the amount that we ultimately paid was right in the middle of the estimate. On his initial visit Dave did an excellent job of estimating the amount of items that we had to move. They even accommodated our last minute addition of a tractor to our move!!!! Dave and Sabrina were both extremely thoughtful and professional throughout the planning process of our move. Dave even gave me job seeking advice and info about local dog parks! On the day of the actual move the movers arrived on time and ready to go. These guys are great!They packed us in one day and moved us the following, all within Boston. They were totally prepped, moved everything with care and took so many extra steps to be sure we were satisfied. We had a couch that didnt look like it could fit into our bedroom. They spent the extra time to take it apart and reassemble, without having to be asked, to get it into the room. The crew of guys was extremely courteous and clearly cared about making sure we were satisfied. And, to top it off-my wife was 9 mos. pregnant and the baby was due any day. The 4 movers stayed extra time and put together our crib and changing table- talk about above and beyond service!
