The Roadrunner is a staple in the North Valley. I moved to new River about four years ago. I drive by the Roadrunner every day on the way home and for some weird reason, my truck automatically pulls into the parking lot. The food is incredible. The Roadrunner burger is my favorite hamburger hands down anywhere. The bartenders are the absolute best. Adrianna, Meghan Janita, Carrisa, Alex, Wes Sherry and of course Waylon the one and only keeps the energy alive. The Saturday night vibe there is the best around not only because of the music the bull riding, but it's absolutely gorgeous surrounding. As far as the security and bouncers. This place accommodate hundreds and hundred sometimes thousands of people so they have to do their jobs. I give two thumbs up five stars for everything that goes on here... WAIT OMG ... Not sure what happened to this establishment, but management needs to internally reevaluate their incredibly rude & incompetent staff. I use to highly recommend this place over the last 4 years; however, that is not the experience i have encountered yesterday. I would NOT recommend anyone contributing their hard earned money to a place that employs employees who treat customers in such a condescending, 'intimidating', and rude manner. I have never left a bad review, but the bouncers will harass you and the bartenders are not friendly. Nothing short of a disappointment. I used to come here a bunch in my early 20s. My parents recently moved close to this place so while visiting we grabbed brunch there. Sherry was our bartender and she was AMAZING, kind, funny, full of life. She made our experience wonderful. Always get the cowboy rolls- they are insane. Abusive harassment by staff for merely existing. Horrifying experience, stay away from this place, the staff are full of heartless bully's. I went to get a takeout order of wings on a night they appeared to have some live music going on. I was asked for my ID and asked if I was going to stay for the night, I said "no, I placed a takeout order, not tonight Thank you sir", my mother went there an hour and a half earlier to listen to music by herself while I was working. When she saw me she waved me down by the bar with the wings in hand which were already ready and not in a to go box. I asked the bartender at my immediate Arrival to please package them to go. Upon waiting for the box which probably took 1 minute or less, the ticketing lady came storming at me, finger pointed in my face, yelling unhinged, "You need to leave' or buy a ticket!", I said, mam, I am waiting for a box to take my wings, I am a paying customer and like I told security I am not staying tonight. In a tone that could kill a cat she continued pointing and power tripping, "I don't like your tone! Leave now! I'm just going my job!!!", I said, "your job is to harass paying customers who want to leave? Because that is what is transpiring right now in-front of the entire bar of witnesses to see. Her face dropped in shock to hear someone talk back to her. Completely unhinged. I said you need to take a step back you are far too close in my personal space and allow me to leave. She stormed off. I then asked for a manager to address this uncalled for situation who told me no manager was working on a Saturday night. he further told me that women received a few complaints that evening already. It's not just me? good to know this is just her character. I said, okay so I would hope you let your manager know about this harasser because no one deserves to be treated like this. As my mother was walking me out she looked at the lady at the door and said "that was not very nice of you and very unnecessary." You could have simply said, "if you plan to stay this evening which we would love to have you, I would just like to let you know we are charging a $20 cover. Then she threw my mother out for politely address that harassment And pointed at the door yelling "get out of here." This all transpired in less than 5 minutes from start to finish. If I was planning on staying one could assume so if I ordered a drink and say down. This never happened. After my poor mom was thrown out for no reason, the security grabbed the drink out of the hand and threw it out. This was the most abusive walk-in I've ever experienced. I called Alex the day manager the following morning. I was told there was a manager last night, followed by "I don't know if there was or not" when I said "the bar staff said there was no manager in that night." Followed by, I know everyone pretty well and i never heard that. The lack of awareness this Saloon has and the disturbing harassment endured for merely existing was a clear testament to the women being threatened by beautiful women. That's the only logical thing that could possibly make sense considering she came at us in a volatile, hostile, aggressive mannger to paying customers Demanding more money. Not informing which would be the right approach, demanding. I was here visiting over the weekend from out of state and wanted to even stop in get food and give mom a kiss. A little time is better than nothing. Please preserve your sanity and stay away from such low frequency people. Its unfortunate they treated my mother this way who is such a kind soul and did nothing at all to be thrown out. My heart feels sad knowing people like this are this unhealed and She clearly needs therapy to work through her severe anger management Issues. We were not the problem here. my mother paid for entry and bought one beer at the bar after a very heavy week finding out her mother god robbed in another country. This was heartbreaking to witness seeing her unable to shake this off all night due to someone's lack of awareness and incompetence. When I asked the day manager what he will do about this type of situation he simply said in a tone of attitude, "we will address this." I said, "what steps do you take when a harasser is harassing your customers?" He again repeated, "we will address it, I can't discuss that with you, Sounds like you are trying to get revenge." Lol. I guess Sharing how I was harassed last night and speaking up means I want revenge??? That is such a pity. I simply was hoping to be heard and made to feel understood that that should have never happened and that maybe they truly were sorry it did on their property. It seems they may deal with this so much that no one cares anymore. I would suggest to go anywhere else but here. It's just not worth it. Always stand up for yourself when you are abused. stay safe. Sooo here we are on our way to Sedona and hungry. We stopped here at this saloon to grab a bite to eat outside of phoenix since traffic was heavy. It was a dive but in the best way. Super nice people with a great outdoor bar area with fans and a desert view. We ordered some cheese curds, nachos and pulled pork roll. Delicious!!! Fun meal !!! With great servers. Made the AWFUL mistake of coming to this establishment tonight. Bull riding... so fun! Dancing... awesome! Security...THE WORST. Within 1 minute of walking in I heard multiple disgusting comments about women made by the security boys (I say boys because they do not deserve to be called men.) They questioned my friends' IDs(who are 21) and told them they "wanted to punch them between the eyes because they are just like their parents, entitled". They then continued to cuss them out. My friends were NOTHING but respectful and kind and in return they received incredibly disgusting behavior from the security. Next, we watched as a (drunk) man was being kicked out. The man got in the security boy's face, and the security boy punched him, tackled him to the ground, dragged him out of the establishment, punched him again, and then 3 separate security boys laid on top of the man for 15 minutes until the police arrived. Next, we watched as the police questioned the man and then BEAT HIM UP. Want evidence? Look at the videos and pictures. Hands on the throat, arm choking him out. Not sure what the "official laws" are about this... but pretty sure that the carotid control technique has been banned in Arizona along with many other states since 2020. The Roadrunner usually runs a tight ship. Not so on Saturday, March 1st. The band wasn't ready to go between bull riding sessions. They got a really late start. On top of that, it was only after the 2nd half bull riding audience had gathered and waited in the stands for sometime that someone in the Roadrunner crew figured out that it might be a good idea to give the audience a heads up. The 2nd half bull riding start was delayed to make up for the band's late start. Not cool for the band to start late. Not cool to change the bull riding start time to accommodate a band that started late. Not cool to let folks wait around a long time before informing them of the change in schedule. read more

While visiting friends in the area we had a Thursday night dinner here. Great service excellent food and a good time. We returned on Saturday night to have dinner and drinks only to find that you must pay a $20 each cover charge even if you only want to have dinner. It really bothered our children and us as well. It would be nice if they limited that to outside of the covered area. So my friend tried to get in and she is the only colored one of our group and she had a legal ID and they refused to let her in because her hair did not match her picture, when it was the same color but a different hairstyle. They were rude at the door, and basically shoed us away. We were there to simply have a good time, we had driven 30 minutes, and left to go to Buffalo Chip because they're better anyways. NB on Highway 17 and hungry. Spotted some road side signs with Roadrunner Restaurant and Saloon. Any joint with "Saloon" in it's name piques my interest. Let's check it out. First impression - parking lot was packed full of big ol' Ford trucks, Chevy trucks, GMC trucks, Dodge trucks. Definitely a Yee Haw, shit-kickin' type of place with a mechanical bull. Lots of cowboy/mesh cap wearin' locals. I would guess at least half the patrons were either packin' or had one in their truck. The food. Pretty decent on some, not so much on some. I got the AYCE fish fry. Three pieces of fish, french fries, hush puppies, and cole slaw. Not bad. Son had the Cheesesteak and was not impressed. Wings were good as was the Caesar salad. The fried cheese rolls and chicken sandwich got positive votes. Service was good. Prices decent. All in all, not a bad place. Full bar was tempting, but we did not partake. Wondering if we visited on an off night? No servers coming to tables, but also no signs telling people how they're supposed to order when you enter the door on the right. It just said to sit wherever you wanted. So we sat there for 10 minutes or so before getting up to ask. You order in the coffee shop. Makes total sense! The sign outside the coffee shop says you can order alcohol in there. Nope! We got sent to the bar. If you sit over by the bar you can't hear when they call your name when your food is ready so we moved over to be closer to the pick up window. We kept hearing these loud snapping noises. Like those firecrackers you throw on the ground. Turns out that was the bug zapper in the kitchen. Food was super greasy and just ok. Seemed pretty expensive for what you got. The plates were so hot they burned our hands carrying them back to the table. There were little kids everywhere. Running and playing and running into people. It's so noisy inside you can't carry on a normal conversation. Definitely uncomfortable for those with hearing aids. Overall not a very enjoyable experience. read more

Found this stop on our weekend trip and needed to get some lunch. Hubby had the pulled pork roll, which he said was meh. The pork was burnt and the french fries that were served with it were way to salty. I opted to get the big house salad, which could have been fresher. Our waitress Jane was very attentive and nice. The cigarette smoke on the back patio was overwhelming at times. The women's bathroom....is dark and dingy. This place is NOT practicing any COVID precautions. Have enjoyed my visits here but please add some variety to the bands playing week after week. There has rarely been a female lead singer with a full band playing here and there are some great local bands with female leads. Come on boys, lets liven this place up and give the girls a shot. The place has a very rustic feel and the staff was so friendly. We sat outside at the wooden bar, enjoyed drinks and ordered appetizers. The food quality was great. We sat with our guides from Desert Wolf and one of them ordered a burger that was wrapped in a flour tortilla instead of on a bun, it looked amazing. Nice air conditioner sitting area inside. Very very friendly and efficient staff. Good place for tourists that enjoy shorts, boots, bikes. And COLD BEER. The parking is willy-nilly. The drinks are watered down and the prices on the same drink with the same bartender seem to fluctuate. No one can ride a bull. The bleachers are breaking down and the band is crap. All this for 20 bucks to stand in the dust. It's cheaper to watch a PRCA rodeo. This place is sort of like the Roadhouse from my favorite Patrick Swayze movie back in the day. It has that isolated feel even though it is just a few minutes from the real world. The country band was playing out back on a recent Friday night, but the crowd wasn't all bikers at least before 9pm. Mostly regulars who seemed to like to smoke alot. We were just there to eat, but that went kind of weird. They gave us our meals in a to-go box and then the fish (cod) from all you can eat Fish Friday arrived frozen in the middle with soggy fries. The burger, although overpriced at $14.50 was pretty good with green chiles and bacon, but now I believe it was likely a frozen patty. The fish went back and out came a decent ribeye cheese steak with big hunks of peppers and onions on a giant roll. The meat was good, but the onion rings stole the show. Really just came here for the Saturday night experience, but the fries are also really, really good. For somewhere set in, what felt like, the middle of nowhere, I was blown away by how many people were here at 9 pm on a Saturday night. Yes, it's definitely a country bar, but not everyone was dressed country. They had a great live country band that drew the masses and plenty of dancing. The dance floor is in front of the band's stage, but still off to the side. So if dancing isn't your thing, your not going to be stuck in a giant dance floor leaning on the wall to avoid dancers. They have and indoor and outdoor bar, and couple of areas to hangout outside around bonfires. They also have a small bull riding stadium outside, that had plenty in attendance. I didn't think this would be my kind of place and was reluctant to go, but glad that I actually did. It's set out a little way outside of Phoenix in New River, but the something different to do and fun, laid back vibe isn't something your going to find in Phoenix. read more

This place will not be open for much longer considering the fact that they commit FELONIES on a weekly basis in tampering with and destroying real state identification from out of towners. The scummy, power-tripping bouncers at this place destroyed my sister and her friends REAL Pennsylvania state ID's on the very first night of their weekend trip. They are both 23 years old. The bouncers called the police, and even after the sheriff came and verified they were indeed REAL, they still would not serve them and ultimately kicked them to the curb; where they had to wait outside for an Uber to make the hour journey back to Scottsdale. This place needs a kindergarten lesson in how to decipher real vs. fake ID's before they get themselves into some deep shit-- clearly this is an ongoing issue considering the plethora of reviews on Yelp that all have identical stories to this one. This place had been on our "to do" list since we got to the area. We shouldn't have waited so long. A "real" roadhouse atmosphere and food portions that can best be described as "humongous". My wife had the patty melt on marble rye bread. I had some spicy chili....and tater tots! The bartender/server was a fun person. We stopped here on our way from Phoenix to Sedona and it was a perfect quintessential western experience. It's a true saloon with cafeteria style seating and an outdoor bull ring. The food was pricey but very good. The adults got the quesadilla, salad and pulled pork sandwich, kids got chicken nuggets and a cheeseburger. Food was delicious and the portions were very generous.
