Once again!!! We always hit Lucky 12 at least once when here. I have to have the wings!!! Orange hot wings! The whole wing.. flapper too! Cheesesteak was great. Pizza is wonderful AND they have it by the slice. That Cassie was tremendous! Right on the waters, drinks and the Chicago Dog!!! So good. We got that as an appy and cut it up to share! Was super easy to call and place the order for pick up, ready in 20 mins. Service was nice and fast but honestly the pizza its self was just mediocre. Nothing fancy to brag about; but it didn't suck either. The pepperoni had a little kick to it, my 2 year old wasn't a fan of that. We ordered the cod sandwich, fries, fried pickles, and the scallops and shrimp boat with coleslaw and sautéed mushroom medley. Prices: Reasonable (see menu picture for pricing) except a side Caesar salad is a $6 up charge. Service: Excellent! We had positive interactions with all three of the employees we interacted with. Our waitress (Tammie) was patient, kind, and efficient. The host was welcoming and helpful. And an employee patiently answered my questions over the phone prior to our visit. Seating: multiple seating areas with bar stools, tables, and booths available. Noise: music and conversation is on the louder side. No louder than a typical sports bar. Parking: parking lot in front of the restaurant. Following the signs since the lot has a separate entrance and exit. Pets: Dogs are not allowed. read more

We visited the Lucky 12 Tavern every holiday season. It has become an essential part of our "12 Bars of Christmas" tradition. The atmosphere is always delightful, and the staff are incredibly nice, friendly, and welcoming. We truly appreciate the warm and inviting environment. The drinks are always fantastic, and the food is good too. However, what really stands out is the incredible hospitality that makes the overall experience memorable, even though the restaurant can sometimes be a bit chaotic. One of my fav places in Nags Head! Great food and fantastic service. Todd was our server and he was on his game! He was quick with delivering our drinks and food and had a great sense of humor. The clam chowder is some of the best I've had. Ahi tuna tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. We were craving shrimp so we got the buffalo shrimp and fried shrimp basket. Both were great. We got mild sauce, however it was very spicy so beware if you don't have a good spice tolerance. Lastly, the fries were great- clearly hand cut and made fresh daily. read more

1st time to OBX with a family of 4 and needed an easy place to come and watch the WNCAA game. This place is a Gem! Tons of TVs, great food and menu. What sets this place above even most places is their Bourbon selection! This place has top shelf allocated bourbon at decent prices. Friendly staff to top it all off. If I were to say the one con is there are not many tables. We came on a Monday at 630 during the off season and the place was packed. This place would be packed even with a bigger space which speaks to the quality you get here! If we ever find our way back to OBX we will come back for sure! read more

Chicken sandwich- chicken was very rubbery/tough and could not eat it. The "Tim" funky taste and not in a good way. Chicago Dog - yeah nope never again. Ewww is all I can say. Fries I admit were amazing. Prices are high- we paid with tip over 150.00 and ZERO alcohol. Used to like coming here. Next trip we will pass. My husband and I usually love Lucky 12, we bring out of town guests as it's a favorite. Unfortunately today was a real disappointment. My husband ordered the Tim as usual and I ordered the Southwestern Grilled Chicken Salad. As always the Tim was fantastic, the salad unfortunately was not so great. The romaine was a bit bitter, the toppings mentioned on the menu were scant at best, just wasn't the same salad as previous seasons. I will say the grilled chicken was very flavorful though. This has been my go to salad for over 10+ years. Of course we will be back, but man what a disappointment. read more

We decided to come here during the 12 Bars of Christmas since this establishment was the vision and originator of the OBX Christmas pop up bar. It did not disappoint with festive decorations and an extensive menu of holiday cocktails and food. My husband and I ordered the Don Featherstone's Old Fashioneds that were by far the best old fashioneds we have had. It was made with a homemade vanilla syrup and garnished with a luxardo cherry and a dried orange. We wanted to get a taste of a number of menu items so we ordered a slice of cheese pie, a Caesar salad, the Turkey Burger with fries and the Veggie Philly. The Veggie Philly really was our favorite dish while the other three we probably will not order again. We enjoyed drink and food there and look forward to returning. read more

We ate here for lunch while on vacation for the first time last week and enjoyed everything we ordered. We started with the fried pickles app (ranch tastes homemade and is great) and the mild buffalo shrimp - which def had a kick to it but the waitress let us know beforehand and it was the perfect spice for us. My husband had the fish and chips (tarter sauce - also tasted homemade) and the meal was great - fresh cut fries are excellent. I had the MP Crabcake sandwich - fairly priced with tons of crab and the bun was excellent too! We ordered pizza to go for our daughter - which she also loved. Decorated in signage images reminiscent of the glory days of highway travel and situated on the edge of Virginia Dare Trail, Lucky 12 Tavern is a lucky find. I was surprised to find the menu offered more than traditional tavern food. After a long day on the beach we grabbed a drink, appetizers, and dessert. Though I normally do not find gin refreshing, the Bermuda Triangle was a great Oceanside choice. The balance of sweet pineapple and hot jalapeño was perfect. The Buffalo shrimp were large and served in a sauce that offered flavor in addition to heat. The crab bites were mini, grilled crab cakes served with a spicy remoulade. We finished the evening with cinnamon bread pudding that any southern host would be proud to serve. read more

I made reservations for the holiday ice fishing shed for 8 of us on Thursday night. We all arrived right on time and were escorted right through the restaurant and out to our "shed". It was decorated with fishing accessories, electric wood stove and seating that was rustic. Our waitress was excellent, very attentive and friendly. We all ordered drinks from the very festive named cocktails. (All really good, too good) then appetizers, fried pickles, very good and baked Brie with crackers, also good. Dinners came soon after. Everyone enjoyed theirs. The entire experience was so much fun, my only critique would be to make the seating accommodate 8 better, the table was too small and we could only fit 6, the other two had a separate high top table and would've liked everyone together. We had heard rave reviews about their Jingle 12 events. Made a reservation in the middle of the afternoon for a large group. The unfortunate thing was the weather was really warm that day and we were cooped up in the ski lodge. There were a million flies flying around it was disgusting. There was no way to get rid of them. According to the server it was normal. Our server was great, very attentive. Our food came out pretty quickly. The food was mediocre. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich that look like a Purdue slice chicken flattened with barbecue sauce splattered on it or some sort of sauce. The rest of the family got pizza and that looked pretty good. I'm not sure I would drive this far down the beach road again for their food. read more

I have found it extremely difficult to find a restaurant in the Nags Head area that was open "late" (I.e. past 9pm). Wanted to grab a quick drink with my husband following the day's activities. Service at the Lucky 12 was great and we were able to get a table (around 8:30pm) without an extreme wait (another rarity in the area). I'd happily come back here again to take advantage of a little sports watching on the many TVs and a cold beer. read more

We stopped by on a Monday evening at around 6 o'clock. Not crowded at all and we were seated right away. It's a friendly place. A dive bar feel. I got a salmon salad. It was actually quite good !! Goat cheese, tomatoes, and a good size piece of salmon that was cooked just right. The star of this salad was the "honky tonk" salad dressing. Best salad dressing I have ever tasted. Luckily, I was able to find the recipe online. Can't wait to try it at home. The pizza at the table next to us looked good. We would maybe stop by for a burger as well next time. My girlfriend had house wine - $7. The oyster appetizer was tasty, but tiny - $14. Our tab was $31.25 and we wondered what we were really paying for. This is our second time here, and if you are looking for a biker or dive bar feel, this place is great. Good selection of bourbons. They have TVs going, they have a PAC MAN Machine, they have a back patio that is very cool, and their pizza is incredible. We got the El Supremo and added banana peppers.
