I am Deaf (hard of hearing). If you are in my contacts you have a special ringtone I can hear. I set up tow via my insurance co. They offered tow company to communicate via text as to eta. I opted for that due to my disability. They sent me text of 120-115 min eta. After 130 mins insurance got word they had arrived & wanted confirmation. I let them know no one was here. They sent me text tow co. now said it would be 60 mins. 60 mins later insurance company sent confirmation text again. I let them know no tow truck. A few minutes later I start getting missed call after missed call from two phone numbers that do not accept inbound calls. Then I got another confirmation text from insurance. Again notified them no tow truck. Then got voicemail from Roadway Auto Towing with phone number to call. The lady actually got mad at me for not answering the phone and yelled at me (which worked because with all the outside noise she was hard to hear). She told me the drivers do not text their driving. If he had been stopped by my car he could have seen me as I was sitting next to it. Also, he would not have been driving had he been there. So texting would have been fine. I didn't get a chance to say any of that because she screamed at me that hard of hearing people should pay for a service to take calls for them. I very calmly asked 'So you are saying you do not accommodate people with disabilities.' She yelled 'No, they should have a service!' Do not buy batteries from roadway, auto towing. They put a battery in my car that did not fit and could not even lay flat, pinching, and possibly damaging my negative cable. They would not prorate or do anything to make this right since the battery was outside of warranty. Unfortunately, I did not notice this until after it was outside of warranty, when it was in the shop where I was informed this is the wrong battery for my car. I haven't and won't ever use their services. I ride a motorcycle and was on my way home tonight, and one of their truck drivers was severely riding my tail. If I had to estimate the driver was about 15 feet behind me and we're going 55 mph, and I was traveling the same speed as the cars in front of me. Bottom line: worst customer service I have experienced in YEARS. My mom's car was in an accident, not her fault and the car was totaled. The police at the scene called the towing company and the car was brought here. Both my mother and my brother called and inquired about paying for the towing fees, storage, what paperwork was needed, etc. They said they needed a copy of the registration. I drove my mom to the towing yard. The office was small and you have to wait outside in the heat to be helped while the employees inside have A/C which was frustrating because my mom is elderly. They had her waiting out there for upwards of 45 minutes in the 90 degree sun. When they finally got to her they told her she needed the physical copy of the registration not a picture. Both my mom and brother had called ahead and neither of them were told they specifically needed the physical copy. The lady responded it wasn't her job to inform her. So we had to return the next day. Once again we waited outside in the heat. I helped my mom get the paperwork and asked some questions for her. The lady went inside and said to the other ladies in earshot "did you hear what she just asked?" clearly mocking me. I responded loudly that we could hear her and that it was rude to talk about people. She didn't apologize. Classy. Bottom line: Poor substandard, unprofessional, inferior, pathetic, lazy and all around lousy customer service. My family had been through a lot trying to take care of this accident for our mom and they made the whole experience that much worse. So I had called roadside assistance through my insurance because I originally needed a jump. When the tow truck driver got there (Evan) he told me my battery was dead and that I needed a new one. I said ok...he quotes me a price in the 280s but then said he will give me a discount which came out to be $151 (big discount right...) He puts the battery in and I'm ready to check out, the price comes up to be $251. I told him you didn't quote me that...he said that he did and that I didn't hear him correctly. I told him yes I did otherwise I wouldn't be having this conversation with you. I look down at my receipt and I was charged $90 for labor that took not even 5mins to install. I called the office and she said that that's how much they charge for labor and that they never had complaints about Evan because he is one of our best workers and there is really nothing she could do for me. I felt robbed! Last time I needed a new battery it cost me $179 in total from a different company. The worst experience I've had with a towing company ever. For some reason my auto insurance would always call this company to come pick up my car but every single time it would take hours and hours for them to pick up my car. I've had 2 different experiences with them and all were very bad: The first time my car broke down was in San Marcos, CA. My car broke down around 2:30pm and I pulled into an Albertson's parking lot to while I called my insurance. The tow truck didn't get to me until 4pm-4:30pm. I got my first text message stating that they'll get to me in 20 mins. About half an hour goes by when I get a call from someone saying they're a little delayed. After that I get another text message saying it'll take another 45 minutes to get to me. 2 hours goes by and someone finally gets to me. The second time I had to ask for them to come get my car was after I called my insurance to have my car towed to a auto repair shop. Same thing happens; I get a text, then a call saying they're delayed, and then another text. I called them at 12pm while I'm at work. I leave work, go home, and the towing company still hadn't come. At that point it's been 3 hours. Another hour goes by and I'm so fed up with waiting that I actually call my insurance to have them cancel this company and to call another one. It isn't until the tow truck for roadway shows up (30 minutes later) that I finally get my car towed. The other company that my insurance set up for me actually calls me and tells me they're furious I was kept waiting that long by roadway and that they're known to keep customers waiting. I'm honestly flabbergasted that I had to wait almost 5 hours just for my car to get picked up If ever I am in trouble, I'm taking my business elsewhere because I know I'm going to be stranded if I have to depend on this company. read more

After waiting 2 hours I called them directly and someone with literally no customer service skills and who had no idea what was going on answered and told me to call my fleet agency. After having the fleet agency contact them I was updated with a 2 hour wait as they were still working on a car accident pickup. After calling for an update a 3rd time they gave another hour wait time and said they were realllly on their way now. As 10 o'clock rolled around I called for a fourth update. After the fleet agency got in touch with them once again they gave a new time frame and I decided to just cancel with this company and have them reschedule for the next morning with a different company. Honestly the worst towing of my life. Wish I could give zero stars! Husband calls me that he's stranded on the freeway. He ends up calling them to pick him at 3:18, keep in mind I'm coming from San Diego during rush hour traffic. I'm here expecting my husband to be home already and behold he's still parked stranded on the side of the road at 5pm literally only 5 mins from the towing company. Reyna was the one answering mine and my husbands calls I called at 5:54 to see the ETA and she tells me another 25 mins. While waiting on the side we witness an accident happen, get cleaned up and even talked to highway patrol while waiting for the tow. I waited a little longer and then told my husband to call again at 6:27 and she puts him on a 10 min hold and as soon as I call from my phone she recognizes my number and puts me on a hold. When I call from a private number she helps me right away. I even offer to go drive to her location and take a driver to get my husband if they struggled that much on finding our location. Then processed in telling me the driver has been calling to reach us and nothing on our end. The young lady on the phone could not be any more rude and unprofessional. Keep in mind she sat in a dark parking lot for 4 hours on Wednesday night waiting on a tow truck. She has no family in California and her husband is deployed right now. After calling a Uber to get home. She is still trying to get a tow. The lady on the phone has said the driver will be on his way and be there in 45 minutes he's clearing up a wreck with law enforcement. In that being said I am a firefighter paramedic in Ohio I have never seen a tow truck be held on a scene for 3 days. Please do not use this service. So I called the company that provides my roadside assistance. They told me that Roadway towing was going to be there no later than an hour.. So I waited.. and I waited..and I waited...After repeated calls to Roadway and my roadside assistant company, Roadway FINALLY showed up 1 hour and 40 minutes after I placed my call. Roadway's shop was only a few miles away from car.. Tanya the dispatcher lies when you call them about a status. They'll say anything to make sure you don't call another tow company. It gets worse.. Getting these guys to show up was difficult enough, but the drive to the auto shop was far more scary. I wish I had checked Yelp before I got involved with Roadway. Not that I had much choice. My vehicle was towed at the request of the Sheriff subsequent to a severe accident. Apparently Roadway has a nice contract with the Sherriff's department. Upon my arrival at the Roadway tow lot to retrieve my personal items, I was rudely and aggressively confronted by an employee. I was just waiting at the gate for an escort to take me into the lot, so I was very perplexed by his anger. He was clearly upset and actually got out of his truck and came toward me to make his point. When I questioned his behavior and attitude towards a customer, he said, "That's just the way I talk!" I did not want to upset him further, so I offered my hand shake hoping that we could just go about our business. The employee who took me to my car was very courteous and pleasant. He tried to justify the other man's behavior by explaining that he was responsible for security of the lot. All the while, outside the gate, I could hear him ranting on loudly about me to the other employees in the office. Later that day I queried the business on Yelp, and saw all the one-star reviews. I also looked them up on the Better Business Bureau web site. The BBB gives Roadway an "F" rating. What the heck do you have to do to get an "F" form the BBB?! This place was sent out by my insurance company to assist in our vehicle tow. We had called the company once every hour, the first time to provide missing personal information and ensure that everything was alright, and the next two times receiving an eta of about 30-40 minutes during both calls and reassured they would come get us. During one of the calls, we were told that we were the ones who decided to get stuck out there and that we would have to wait. In our last phone call, after waiting over a total of 3 hours, we were told they were helping with another customer. Shortly after the last call, we received a call from our insurance telling us that the area we were in was deemed "off-road," by Roadway Auto Towing. At no point in time was the route unpaved or inaccessible to large trucks as we had spent the entire day there at a local car meet with multiple different types of sport cars, trucks, trailers, and people's personal vehicles who had reached the same area without issue. Not to mention, there was a truck yard a little up the ways with construction vehicles and trucks. For Roadside Assistance if someone needs a tow, you don't tell the insurance company the ETA is 55 mins if you can't make the time. My car is a hybrid and we haven't driven it for months because of the pandemic. We had to jump it, which we expected, but then it wouldn't recharge. Then we couldn't even jump it. So we called a tow.
