I was looking for a way to be mobile and independent without having to drive a large RV that would limit where I could travel or be committed to a hotel reservation. I wanted to go and stop as I desired, and have everything I needed on hand. Roam fit the bill perfectly! From the moment I contacted them, Gretchen went above and beyond to answer questions and provide the extra comforts I requested. I was traveling solo and asked for their recommendations on places to stay and things to see on my selected route. Gretchen and Taylor took the time to provide extensive information that was super helpful, right down to spots in a campground for the best view. The van inventory included everything I needed, and was super comfortable for traveling and sleeping. It has a refrigerator, stove, and sink that accommodates cooking in, or by the campfire. The camp table and chairs makes it easy to disperse camp. I slept great, I went where I wanted when I wanted, and was completely confident and comfortable. We recently rented the 'Hotel' which is this company's 19-20' Ford Transit 150, a well equipped camper van for a trip along the Oregon coast. For two of us, who are experienced off grid and campground travelers/campers it worked out really well. The weather was pretty harsh, driving wind, heavy rains and cool temps. The unit handled and drove very well. We had plenty room, stayed comfy, warm and dry in this well laid out version, prepping all of our meals inside the unit for 3 days/nights. We had a slight technical issue with the heating unit on our last night, but owners/staff were available to walk us through a solution. I would not expect this issue to persist, they'll get it addressed, and we would rent from them again without any qualms. We also had input and questions about other layouts in their rental units, since we are thinking of future purchase. They took time to work with us, share their experiences and thoughts. This was one of the best trips we've ever taken. My wife and I loved everything about the way Roamerica does their business; they're responsive, helpful and provided us with all the information/equipment we needed to make our trip on the Oregon Coast amazing. By the time we dropped off the van -- which, by the way, is incredible (spacious, well-equipped and handles great in wet, windy weather) - we were already talking about taking an even longer trip in the near future. The five days we had it wasn't nearly enough time for us. Honestly, we got a little depressed when we left. I can't be complimentary enough of Roamerica (Hell, I signed up for Yelp just so I could leave this review). I don't think we can go back to booking hotels now because being able to drive around where you want, when you want, eat what you want, stop where you want is just too damn fun. We can't imagine being confined to a hotel and the surrounding area. So just book with them and you'll see what I mean. read more

We have been looking a purchasing a Sportsmobile and wanted to find a place to rent one before taking the plunge. We were set up to rent a 4X4 lifted E series Sportsmobile for a week. The rig was amazing. Able to negotiate some steep and washed out forest roads. While we were getting set up with the Sportsmobile Taylor mentioned that he was selling one of the Ford Transit Rigs that they had built out. So after 3 days in the Sportsmobile we swapped to the Transit. The Transit is so much easier to camp in. The vans are very well thought out and engineered to a high standard. This didn't have 4x4, so we didn't try on back roads that needed 4x4. Gretchen provided a great itinerary that got us away from the crowds and let us experience the what the vans are capable of in the back country. Farewell to the screaming children @ 6:00AM in the public campgrounds. They were able to pick us up @ the Portland Airport - All in All a very seamless vacation. read more

We rented a van from Roamerica to explore the Pacific northwest for a family vacation. We had 3 teens in tow, which is a larger group than can sleep in the van. Gretchen was great about advising me how we could make it all work. We decided to bring our own tent and sleeping bag for the two teen boys, but Roamerica supplied the extra chair, dishes and beach towel. (We could have rented the tent and sleeping bag from Roamerica for a small fee). The van was equipped with everything we needed, including stylish camp chairs, stove, microwave, fridge, dishes, headlamps, comfy bedding and towels. The van was comfortable to both ride and sleep in. (Many other campers stopped by to admire our "sweet rig.") The check out and return process couldn't have been easier. We will definitely come back and rent again. It's the perfect way to explore the great outdoors with kids. read more

Roam is absolutely amazing, on all levels!! Their van was perfectly outfitted for whatever we threw at it on our 3 week road trip across the Pacific Northwest, Montana, and Wyoming. The inside is seriously comfortable and very well organized, so we slept like babies and had easy access to all our toys (bikes, surfboards, hiking gear). The kitchen set-up is also great. Whether you're cooking on the stove or over a campfire, you have everything you'll need. And, Gretchen and Taylor couldn't be any more helpful and thoughtful. The folks and the camper vans at Roamerica are THE BEST! We flew in from Philly to rent a van for the week and it was so easy. Gretchen helped me plan the whole trip right down to where to stay, hike, eat, drink, and what to see for every day of our trip. The van was fully stocked with everything we needed for an awesome week on the OR coast and then into the mountains. We hated to give the van back at the end of the week-it was that much fun! ROAM is awesome! Exactly what I needed. I was looking for a roof top tent, and they were able to provide it as a rental. Not only did they have stock, but they brought it out... showed me how to set it up... and picked it up when I was done. They were extremely thorough when showing me how use the tent, letting me ask questions along the way. Roamerica has great vans and excellent service. We toured Oregon for about a week and felt "at home" in our van. There were four of us (2 adults and 2 children), and it was spacious enough for all of us and our gear. Gretchen was easy to work with; she answered all our questions and picked us up at the airport.
