Their tasting room is tastefully colored, and when we arrived (on an early Friday afternoon) we were the only patrons in there. The attendant pouring the wines was friendly and fairly knowledgeable about what he was pouring (although it's certainly possible that he simply memorized the wine maker's notes). We had the white and red flights, and overall the wines poured for us were pretty good. I was happy to find out that all chardonnay was stainless aged (so much more tasty imo, as I do not like oak aged chardonnay most often) The dry rosé was delicious, and the cabernet franc was an excellent representation of a fine New York State grape. Overall a pleasant tasting experience. I was a little disappointed with the close proximity of the winery to the road (I'm not quite sure what to expect at Long Island wineries as this was my first and only so far experience on the North Fork) and the outdoor seating area, although the vineyard was beautiful (but small). I was also happy to see more mature patrons arriving while we were there as opposed to a rowdier younger group. read more

Have to say, sunday , I traveled through South hold stopping at many great wineries with my family it was at the end of the day where we came across your winery and wanted to have a little bit and try some of your unique wine. Realized as we were asked the bartender to have a flight she said we are not members and we cannot have any. Why couldn't we have and pay out-of-pocket for a flight ? I felt truly disrespected and embarrassed and I felt that it was very unprofessional to turn away a customer especially ,when it was not even crowded. Never again will I try your place read more

Took a drive out to the North Fork last weekend from Manhattan, and this was our first stop. My parents, hubby and I did a flight of reds and a flight of whites, and we enjoyed all 8 of the wines we tasted! Then we each had a glass out on their patio. It was a perfect way to spend a beautiful day - chill jazz music playing, not too busy or loud. The woman serving the flights was very nice and patient with us, and the cheese and bread were a nice touch. We also bought a bottle to take with us to lunch and I wish we would have grabbed one to bring home. I definitely hope to come back here. I can see where it would seem a bit stuffy, it definitely wasn't the party atmosphere we encountered at Baiting Hollow down the street, but it was quiet and pleasant. And we are more dive bar than wine bar people - still enjoyed it. Highly recommend. read more

I came by after apple picking at harbes family farm which is just down the road. I tried the red flight and for the most part they were too acidic for my taste. I do love rosé wine and so ordered a bottle and asked for two glasses. I had no idea that you are not allowed to re-cork it and bring the rest of the bottle home if you can't finish. There was no sign and I saw at least FOUR other tables with corks in their bottles so I was surprised that after I paid and the bottle was opened I was told that there is a policy of "no open bottles" that can leave the establishment. I was even more frustrated that after I sat down, a couple walked out to the outdoor area with a cork in their bottle. If that's the policy, I don't mind but not applying to all patrons is wrong. Would not come back here. Two stars is only b/c the rosé was decent. read more

My preference tends to be an intimate tasting room and outdoor seating area. I don't visit the larger wineries often in order to have a chat with the staff and not feel rushed. We stopped here for the first time yesterday, and it was lovely. The DeRosa Rose is delicious and we were surprised with a complimentary cheese board! Roanoke is one of the farthest "up island" relatively, and since it's on Sound Av, rather than Main Rd, there was much less traffic as well. I'm looking forward to returning. read more

Small but well maintained winery. I loved quiet and modern tasting room, and sommelier who helped our tasting was very knowledgeable and kind. Marc Tulio wasn't released during my visit, not able to taste. I liked their oak aged 2010 Sonnet($30) and late harvest Chardonnay($37). Very crisp and elegant finish. read more

Grapeseed oil is delicious. If you know nothing else, you should know this. And it is grapeseed oil that makes this winery special. The wines, unfortunately, were nothing to write home about. I actually liked the white better than the red and it is hard for me to find a red wine I don't love. But if you take the wine out of the occasion (I was suffering from a hangover and it was 11am) then everything else was fabulous! The property was gorgeous, the staff was nice, they gave you free cheese and samples of grapeseed oil. read more

This is probably my favorite winery on the North Fork. My husband and I always end here, get a glass (or a bottle) and relax in their library room near the fireplace with bits of bread and cheese that is complimentary, or sit outside and zone out staring at the tremendous sod field behind the winery. It is our happy place and the LI wines don't get any better. Excellent Merlot, Chardonnay, Blend One. They are all very good. We are members and love this place. Classy and relaxing. I came to Roanoke Vineyards with a friend who was visiting from Boston a few months ago. We did the wine tasting and bought a few bottles to take home since they had some decent Cabernet. They give you a few little bites of cheese and bread to go along with your tastings, which is a nice touch. It was a pleasant atmosphere with natural woods and muted lighting, but we didn't feel very welcome. The man who was pouring the wines and giving us his brief explanations was mostly busy talking to another couple that he clearly knew personally, and sometimes took to whispering with them. Since my friend and I were the only other people in the room, we couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. I did enjoy my time here though, and I might come back to try it again. read more

Came here on the 4th of July weekend with my in-laws. Tried the wine tasting ($10 for 4 different wines) and didn't really like anyone of the ones I tasted. They do have a nice outdoor area where you can eat and drink. read more

My favorite NoFo vineyard! The 2011 Cabernet Franc was superb and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

My absolute favorite winery! I joined a few years ago and have not regretted it once. The wines are amazing as well as the service. The people are very knowledgeable and down to earth. I know some people may be disappointed they are becoming a members only winery but I do think that if you like the wines that much, it's absolutely worth it it join. Also their second location will still be open to everyone. If I wasn't already a member I definitely would have signed up. The Cabernet Sauvignon is the best I have ever had! read more

We are members here and it has been a great experience. Knowing you can go and not have to fight any crowds, drink many varieties that will please anyone and really experience what I think w wine tasting should be like is special. The wine is excellent here the reds are varied from expensive and robust to reasonable and approachable. The whites are more varied with fresh options light on the pallet that appeal to those who aren't normally interested. My entire family and I have fun no matter the event or time of year. read more

I really loved the scenery here. They had a lot of wine to choose from. I still have a bottle in my room for a special celebration. The vineyard was a nice walk, until we ran into a dead raccoon and bird in the vineyard. I was freaked out so we had to leave then and there a little tipsy. Next time I'll give another vineyard a try. read more

This vineyard is nice, quiet and relaxing. The staff is nice, wine is good, however they could use a few more benches/seating on the lawn area for people to enjoy the weather. Came here after a horrible experience at Baiting Hollow and I am glad we did so! read more

Being from the area and going out east a tremendous amount of times it was our first experience at Roanoke. The wines were ok. $9 for 4 samples (flight) was SUPER expensive. The atmosphere was BRUTAL. Either stand at the bar and get your samples one by one stading at the bar for each serving or go outside and sit on a patio or in a managerie of cheap plastic chairs, then get up each time you wanted a new sample. Why not give all four at once like other vineyards so the guest can relax and enjoy the atmosphere? We were prepared to spend the afternoon, do the tasting, and pick a bottle to enjoy. Instead we were completely inconvenienced and felt like we could not just hang out. The bread and cheese board that is 'complimentary' is a joke. First lets set the record straight it is not free. You are paying for it in the tasting since they give only 4 samples where all the other wineries give more. Secondly they should be embarrassed to give out something so scant. 4 thin slices of bread and maybe 1/4 ounce of cheese? Please... We could not have gotten out of there quick enough. Don't waste you time and especially your money. There are much classier vineyards out there with much much better wine and atmosphere! read more

I was very disappointed. I went with my parents and husband on a gorgeous Columbus Day. I purchased a couple of bottles of wine but the charged price was double the "advertised" price. When I questioned why the bartender was very dismissive and replied that you can't go by the advertised price. Who knew? This was after my card was charged and it was late so we decided to just forget it and enjoy the day. An hour later we decided to order a meat and cheese platter but was told they didn't have the bread to accompany it. We asked for a substitute but was told by the again by the dismissive and rude bartender that there were no substitutions for this platter. So we ordered a different platter. Lo and behold a little while later we saw a man walking out with the platter we first requested. I have been here before and the wine is pretty good but the service this time was terrible and they really made us feel like trash. I will never go back here again and I will tell all my family and friends to go elsewhere because there are many wineries out there that are welcoming and appreciate their customers. read more
