There are dart boards and shuffleboard table, which were not in use. Our server was attentive and friendly, as were other staff we interacted with. Beer menu is extensive as you would imagine from the name, and they also have a separate cocktail menu (but we did try). Food was very good. I had The Cask. As long as you like goat cheese, you should like this sandwich. I loved it. Other meals included the pulled pork sandwich and Reuben. All were good. The order of garlic and rosemary fries are very crispy - good for snack or just pair with some beers. Overall, decent place and service. I would return!

We stumbled in for a late bite on a quiet winter carnival weekend and there were only a handful of patrons, mostly locals sitting at the bar. The bartender (and our server) Edward was friendly and kept an eye on us and made sure we had what we needed. The food is solidly average pub fare, not bad and perfectly serviceable, but it shouldn't be your primary objective if you're a foodie hunter like me. But on a main drag littered mostly with mediocre bar-restaurants charging tourist prices for tourist indifference, I'll take "just fine" as a win. I'm not much of a drinker but my husband liked his can of Copper Legend lager so much that he ordered another one to go. The location is conveniently central especially if you're staying on Canada St. or doing activities at the lake.

Sadly, we left with nothing. The parking lot is small and in high demand, so plan accordingly. Upon entering the store, we both immediately looked at each other when we saw the condition of this place. The look said: "Are we really sure we want to do this?" It looks like it hasn't been updated in decades. Shabby, somewhat grimy, and just beat up. Fridge with the eggs inside was stained and dirty. Aisles are incredibly narrow, and we found ourselves getting jammed up when other customers were coming from the opposite way. We started to load our cart anyway, grabbing necessities. Prices weren't exactly chopped. Rather, things were pricey. Where it all went truly wrong was when we got to the meats. I intended to purchase fresh sausage and, to my surprise, none of it had ANY dates on it. Upon closer inspection, they had some frost of them, as if they had been frozen, thawed, and just put out. They were leaking fluids everywhere. I asked my wife to check for dates, and she could find none either. This was just scary. We put our items back and took the drive to Wal mart and were glad we did. Is this place good in a pinch? I guess so, if you're willing to roll the dice. Corner stores in the NYC area present better than this place.

We attend the yearly Tiki event across the road, and this was a 5-minute walk for us. The Tiki is ok, but very loud when the event is going on which makes it difficult to sleep until things end around 1am. Most of the workers at the Holiday Inn were friendly and helpful. Only one seemed to be sleepwalking at the front desk and never did send extra coffee pods to our room when we asked. So, I ended up walking down to the lobby to get coffee each morning (which honestly tasted way better anyway). We've already made our reservations here for next year.

The location is convenient and feels like part of our ritual now. The staff are almost uniformly kind and welcoming to our kids and us. They remember us, greet us cheerfully and make this feel like a home base. The outdoor hot tub was a particularly welcome amenity on this past brutally cold weekend and it helped us warm up a chill that seemed to go straight to our bones after time outside on the lake. It really is one of those few places that feels like a welcome retreat no matter the weather. If there weren't any flaws, this would be a much easier review to write. But there are flaws, and they are things that should have been tended to long ago. The rooms have definitely seen better days. Many of our dresser drawers barely opened. The refrigerator was hardly cool. Furniture had visible damage and some of the electrical outlets were non-functional or battered to the points that plugs fell right out f them. These are not deal breaking in isolation but taken together they left us feeling that the room was tired and poorly maintained. A little thoughtful maintenance or investment here could go a long way and make the rooms feel a lot more comfortable. Another disappointment this year was the breakfast buffet at TRs Restaurant. In years past it was a highlight and something our kids looked forward to to prepare for a cold morning out. This visit, the quality seemed to have declined and the selection felt smaller. The restaurant itself still has a lovely lake view and a cozy fireplace, and the service was still friendly and attentive, but the breakfast spread did not live up to our memories. So I find myself landing on a three star rating. If you take this place for what it can still be, it is a wonderful family resort with great staff and some truly nice amenities. But right now the condition of the rooms and some of the public areas combined with the breakfast experience hold it back from being the much stronger destination I know it can be. Here is hoping that ownership puts some money back into the property so it can recapture its full potential.
