The food is solidly average pub fare, not bad and perfectly serviceable, but it shouldn't be your primary objective if you're a foodie hunter like me. But on a main drag littered mostly with mediocre bar-restaurants charging tourist prices for tourist indifference, I'll take "just fine" as a win. Sadly, we left with nothing. The parking lot is small and in high demand, so plan accordingly. Upon entering the store, we both immediately looked at each other when we saw the condition of this place. The look said: "Are we really sure we want to do this?" It looks like it hasn't been updated in decades. Shabby, somewhat grimy, and just beat up. Fridge with the eggs inside was stained and dirty. Aisles are incredibly narrow, and we found ourselves getting jammed up when other customers were coming from the opposite way. We started to load our cart anyway, grabbing necessities. Prices weren't exactly chopped. Rather, things were pricey. Where it all went truly wrong was when we got to the meats. I intended to purchase fresh sausage and, to my surprise, none of it had ANY dates on it. Upon closer inspection, they had some frost of them, as if they had been frozen, thawed, and just put out. They were leaking fluids everywhere. I asked my wife to check for dates, and she could find none either. This was just scary. We put our items back and took the drive to Wal mart and were glad we did. Is this place good in a pinch? I guess so, if you're willing to roll the dice. Corner stores in the NYC area present better than this place.
