Stumbled in here with friends after hitting the Lake George outlets one day. We went in with the intention of getting some light snacks, but wound up eating way more than we intended to. It was pretty busy and when we arrived, they had just run out of their "famous" ribs. While we were disappointed about not indulging in carnivorous rib-action, we were NOT disappointed with our other food choices. Everything was quite good, although it took a little while for the food to arrive. Our server was super nice and friendly. The walls and ceilings are decorated with flags from colleges and universities. Super casual and fun vibe. We went twice on our trip because we loved it so much! The food is great. The service is good considering how many people were there. We sat outside the 1st night and got to watch the fireworks from our table. We also have a dog so they were very considerate of that and even gave her ice and water. If you love a sports pub atmosphere with an upgraded restaurant quality food menu, this is a place for you. There's plenty of TVs showing all kinds of sports, a very good selection of beer. There's an innovative menu with interesting choices for kids and adults alike. Filet Mignon sliders get my top vote, as the medium rare cut was flavorful and juicy. French Onion soup was very good due to outstanding broth, but not the greatest due to choice of cheese. The crispy chicken wrap was above average, with good flavor, but needed some more acidity for better balance. The wings were very well done, as they should in a pub. The only weird thing was the server, who was a bit absent minded (or under the influence). Despite obvious impairment, he described the menu choices for us accurately and got our drink orders straight. Sandy was our waitress. What a sweetheart! She was awesome! We had the Garrison wedge salad. Oh my goodness! It was sooooo good! I need to replicate this when I get home! We had the pretzel sticks with the queso cheese dip which was spicy but yummy! We each had a burger, both were cooked to perfection! Everything was great, and such a hidden gem in Lake George! We sat on the outdoor deck, which was beautiful and perfect weather too! This is going to be our go to restaurant from now on. It's not "in town", but that makes it even better!! read more

One of the Best Spots for Food in Lake George Village If you're up for a 20-minute walk from the heart of Lake George Village, The Garrison is worth the detour--but only if you've got the time and energy, especially after a big meal. That said, they have a large parking lot, and driving is definitely the easier option. Inside, it's got a laid-back, rustic pub vibe. There's a big bar with TVs, a spacious dining area, and an outdoor seating section when the weather's nice. Service can be hit or miss, depending on how busy they are and how many staff are working. On average, it's decent. The crowd leans more local than touristy, which is a good sign. Food-wise, this is easily one of the better options in Lake George Village. The menu sticks to classic pub fare--burgers, sandwiches, wraps--with a few chicken and seafood dishes. Everything's well-prepared, and prices are fair by village standards. Bottom line: it's tough to find solid food on the main strip. If you actually want a good meal, The Garrison is one of the few places in the village that delivers. I don't go to Lake George Village for the food, but if I want to sit down for a meal, this is the place I go. read more

We had Paige as our server. What a joke she is. When the check came, one person was paying the tab and another was paying the tip. Since out party was 10 people, we asked if the tip was included, which it wasn't. The person paying the tip asked to look at the bill to calculate 20%. The bill and $65 cash were handed to Paige. Separately, a cc was given for the bill. When it was time to leave, Paige claimed she never got any tip. Paige swore up and down, even gave me the line "Sir, I am a 7th grade teacher, I would not lie". I told her I don't think you are lying, i think you forgot. Again, Paige insisted she received no tip. After 12 minutes of back and forth, Paige miraculously found the tip with the bill slip in her apron. Her incompetence wasted our time. Too many better dining establishments around to deal with their bs. Glad to never go back and spread the word! And if Paige is one of your kids teachers - RUN!! read more

It was a Monday in January- I was happy to see they were open for lunch, we stopped about 2pm while on our road trip to Gore Mtn. 2 other patrons were at the bar, we also sat at the bar, no one was in the dining room but it was an off time on a Monday. B got the chicken sliders, it had a mayo herb - it was sorta like chicken fingers on a cute bun! I got the BBQ bacon burger, it was good the BBQ sauce was on point, added a tomato from the chicken sliders. Ordered medium well should've done medium. Regardless it was good!!! The bun was fresh. The pickles were amazing and the fries as well. We both had beers in a bottle. Another 2 couples came in while we were there at the bar, the one said thanks for being open. We drove through the town afterwards and it was sleepy for a Monday in January. Stop if you need a good meal! read more

visited twice during our vacatio. first time we entered there wasn't a hostess but the bartender was great, greeted us so we decided to sit at the bar. food was good and service from bartender exceptional. next visit still no hostess and this time no bartende. she did eventually come but didn't come over to us. we eventually got a waitress who again was excellen. our sandwiches were good but the fries were good 2 hours before showed up. I mentioned it to the waitress and another person across from us said the same thing. I still recommend this place and will definitely come back but hope this review helps the team there. read more

Was at lake George for about 3 nights and came here twice. It stays open later than most restaurants, the food is good and the drinks are cheap. The burgers are surprisingly big and filling. The first time I got the chili which had a great meat to bean ratio, was able to get a both in each bite, and I got the burger with two patties. By the end I was sufficiently stuffed. The patties were cooked great, were quite juicy and the butter/sauce on the burger was very nice. Wish there were more pickles and bacon as topping though it was quite sparse. I think the wedge salad had more bacon than I did. The second time I got the burger with fried onions mc bacon and some sort of glaze. That burger was really good. Again the patty was cooked very well and the toppings and sauce ratio were better on this one. The glaze was sort of like a BBQ sauce but a little richer. Just for the most part solid burgers with many things on the menu that looked interesting. The service was very nice and like I said the drinks were cheap and didn't taste watered down or anything. Definitely a solid spot for a bite around Lake George a little ways away from the village. read more

We ate dinner here friday night, we thought the food was terrible, my chicken Gyro was horrible, what they served was not a Gyro. We dont mind paying high prices, but give some food fir the $$. My husband tonight had a good dinner at the Garrison restaurant. We started off with their mild wings. They were very good. They were very much like buffalo chicken wings. I got the fried chicken sliders. They were just average, you could tell the chicken was frozen , not freshly made but they were still pretty good. We also got the quesadilla which was huge and very cheesy. The prices were reasonable and it was a fun casual atmosphere. The service was average. You can knock me all you want for getting the mild wings but believe me, they have MUCH hotter. True to it's history as a college bar they have a good selection of banners from all over the country. Far now from being that Koom Room college bar it has evolved into a great place for craft beers and good food. This is a busy sports bar type restaurant. Very busy but great service from friendly waitstaff. Ate on a Monday night and it was packed. Daughter and son the Garrison burger and it was one of the best...you can taste the grilled flavor..it was not cooked on a flattop, which gave it a fantastic flavor. I got the Cubano and tho no comparison to Floridas it was a solid sandwich. It was on a gyro wrap which threw me but this area serves a lot of gyros. It has shaves pork, also different but tasty. The sweet potato fries were just OK. Hubs got fried Buffalo chicken wrap also said just OK. We'll stop back for the burgers. read more

The location is tucked away, but it's well worth the search. Great environment, the college flags are cool and the staff is on their game. I double dog dare you to find a better burger on the lake. The view from the patio, at the right time of year, it gorgeous. Very consist and and the food is on point - the blacken salmons is out of this world tender and extremely juicy, I hated picked it over the classic burger, but quickly got over it after my first bite. I am always looking forward to a lunch or dinner here my first days up in LG. A stand alone building with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating . A huge lot, snowmobile access's in the winter. Super close to million dollar beach. Their clams are absolutely delicious and I crave them throughout the year bacon lemon mmmmmm.. the filet sliders are also a must have when stopping by so juicy and the condiment combination of fried onions blue cheese butter and spinach make it so much more unique and tasty. Lots of great food here. I've never ordered anything I didnt like. Been a customer here for years and will continue as long as they keep serving up some of that yum grub! read more

The 2 stars represent decent service, though it wasn't fabulous. The Koom sandwich, which is named for the mascot squirrel that represents The Garrison was dry. There was scarcely a swipe of aïoli. Honestly, the worst part was that we were charged an extra $2 for ICE (for whiskey on the rocks), which wasn't the whiskey ordered. Furthermore, we were charged for a side of mayo! And we were charged extra for using a card rather than cash.‍ This world is moving away from cash, yet we were charged extra for using a debit card! I left a cash tip only because I have been a server and understand the work involved. We won't return. read more
