Freshly roasted beans - a variety of 8 to 12 - that fluctuates depending on the region and season. The staff is knowledgeable as well as accommodating, and the treats (I ordered the pumpkin crumb cake and apple cinnamon crumb cake - both seasonal) are made locally. PLEASE order the crumb cake when you visit, even if you're on a diet (just eat some lettuce for dinner)...you will not regret it! We've passed this coffee shop for a few years, and we always wanted to try it. And so, we decided to venture out specifically to try out this place. From the exterior, it looks like nothing special, but as soon as you walk in, the wonderful aroma of coffee welcomes you in. It's a trendy and pleasant looking cafe on the inside. There's a table in the center of the store with a few chairs, and a counter seating facing the window too. The staff members are all friendly and knowledgeable if you have questions, and need a recommendation. We tried the Iced Mocha Manzi, Iced Coconut Cold Brew and a Blondie. The Blondie was very moist and delicious! However, both our iced coffee tasted a bit too weak and watered down. I also didn't like the chocolate bits at the bottom of the cup for the Mocha Manzi, as every time I took a sip, I was drinking pieces of chocolate and it gave a grainy feel to my mouth. Also, the coffee here are all non-sweetened. You sweeten it yourself with the sugars they offer. Kinda disappointed about our drinks as we had high hopes of making this our new go-to coffee place.. I guess we were expecting coffee like Starbucks (full, dark & rich flavored coffee). I think the coffee here is a bit milder and mellow... And if that's your preference, this is the place for you! Finally tried this place out after being bookmarked so long. I normally make my coffee at home but some weekends I'll grab from somewhere. My go to is always light roast cafe au lait breve. This place seems like it may be popular for their pour overs or cold brew but I stuck with my go to- which I was happy about! Love their light roast! This is my new favorite coffee place! I don't even care that I have to drive 15 minutes to get here- worth it! First off, decor is super cute. I like the giant bag of coffee beans up front. And at one point they even had a GIANT french press on the table! I've become addicted to their iced chai, it is unlike any chai I've ever had. I was there one Sunday morning & I'm pretty sure the owners were serving. The man told me about how their chai differs from others & I could totally see how a few of the ingredients differentiate from others chai tea. Plus I get it with oat milk so it tastes just like a liquid cookie! They also have a really awesome Ethiopian light roast with that hint of citrus it's amazing hot or iced! Said "wow" out loud after my first sip - the coffee here is so good! I've been missing my trendy lattes from Los Angeles, and Roast'd made one of the best iced lattes I've had in NJ. I got an oat maple latte and it was made with barista Oatley, fresh brewed coffee and real maple syrup (not the Monin flavor pumps everywhere else). There's a variety of cold brew and hot coffee options that also looked great. Roast'd is in a nondescript strip mall that's easy to miss, but a hidden gem that's worth a quick drive. I believe this is family owned and the service was super nice. Only con is that there's nowhere really to sit unfortunately, but they have two small tables set up outside. read more

So NJ is boring compared to NYC when it comes to non chain coffee. I find Dunkin to be piss water and Starbucks burnt. I have three mom and pop places I love though within 6 minutes of my home. Two are in Rutherford and then Koffeewagon. What makes Koffeewagon stand out the most is the true variety of coffee. What supplements this selection is that the people there truly know their coffee well. So definitely be sure to ask for recommendations if the chalk board list of coffee they offer is overwhelming. Personally I've tried Mungo and Papua. Both pretty damn good but one's a light roast and the other is medium. My boyfriend is completely in love with the Mungo. I've also had the iced latte which is on par with the Rutherford cafes I like (probably slightly better) but their pour over selection is the only exception I make to drink hot coffee in the summer. read more

We were staying close by for a convention being held in the area and I was pleased to find a fun coffee shop less than 5 mins from our hotel. The logo is so cute! Staff was super nice, friendly and knowledgeable. I opted for a mocha made with dark chocolate. It wasn't very sweet which I had been hoping it wouldn't be! Overall awesome experience for me. This coffee place is worth the hype. I saw it on a BuzzFeed list of best coffee shops in the country by state and I tried it. Their New Guinea roast was recommended by the barista /owner and it was really smooth yet strong. My girlfriend loved the Ethiopian roast with the pumpkin spice flavoring added. Love this coffee place. Sort of expensive, but hopefully for good reason as I assume they source their coffee responsibly. Still something to note though, I always say "Oh this is my treat-yourself-day" and I'm surprised just how much $ it takes to treat myself when I go here. Haha. Also, definitely miss the small business vibe they used to have, back when you'd walk in and the owners greeted you. But this is compensated for by a notably friendly staff. Each time I go in, there's always conversation to be had. One particular barista absolutely makes my mornings every time! He's the best! Get the Amaz'n Mocha. It's pricey, no doubt. Great coffee and friendly service.....BAM 5 stars you deserve it. They just opened so I know they still have things to iron out, but I was amazed at how good the coffee was. I chose the Yirgocheffe blend with cream and 2 lumps of sugar and it was delicious. It was a light roasted coffee. I posted a video on how it was made and the method may take a few minutes but so worth it. Krissy was great. There's a grand opening on Fri, 1/22 so hoping to stop by. Too bad they didn't have the avocado smash.....it's basically avocados smashed blended with salt, pepper and lime juice and whatever hidden things they add and spread it on their bread....really good. I did try their grape jelly and butter on a toasty bread....it was filling....very simple. The place was clean, decor was really cute and they have snacks like nuts, bars and chips to purchase and of course coffee beans. First time here this morning and gotta say I really like it. Everything from talking to the manager, the food I ordered, and the coffee I so eagerly gulped down was impressive (details below)... Great customer service. The manager (I think her name was Christy) was very friendly and informative, explaining the difference between the beans from different areas and describing the brewing techniques they use here. Also made me feel very welcome. For food, I went with the avocado smash. Very simple - fresh avocado, seasoned well (salt, pepper, lime, possibly more) spread on a piece of toast (I wish I asked where the bread came from, it was really good as well). Although simple, it was definitely yummy and would order again in a heartbeat. For the coffee, I asked for and ordered the manager's personal favorite, a really nice medium blend. She ground the coffee beans in front of me, then dripped while I waited. Really great coffee! Now, I wish I can tell you the name of the beans, where they came from exactly, and more about the method she used to make my coffee, but it was all told to me prior to having my first cup of the day and well, I'm not at my sharpest during that time, heh. The only other thing to mention is their espresso machine is not up and running at the moment, so no expresso drinks are currently available. This is officially the only place I want my coffee from. Not only is the coffee A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, the owners are absolutely the most lovely couple I have ever met. I had the Hot Manzi which is hot chocolate with two shots of expresso - omg! Where has this delicious beverage been all my life! And just when I didn't think it could get any better, I had the avocado smash....A perfect blend of fresh avocado with feta cheese, cherry tomatoes and a drizzle of EVOO..... beautiful! Simply beautiful! The avocado smash is only offered Fri- Sun evenings. Understandably so in order to provide the freshness necessary, and the demand would be too huge to maintain during the week for them. They have other vegan and organic snacks and teas that are a must try. The owner, Pat and his wife are the most lovely people ever. They engaged me and another couple in delightful conversation; educating us on how the coffee is made, the different flavors, shades, and locations. They even gave us free tasting samples of the coffees. Their passion for great coffee and the pride they take in their business really shined through. This is what makes a business GREAT! They even recommended other businesses to us! One of them is a brewery that uses their coffee in one of their beers! Can't wait to try it! Lastly, Pat gave me a business card and said I could call ahead of picking up my coffee so it would be ready when I arrived. How awesome is that?! I had a small latte with oat milk (HUGE PLUS) not many places offer alternative to half & Half and regular milk. The place is cute. There are seats and tables you can sit and enjoy your coffee. I stopped by here today since we were a little early for a bday party down the street. I am so glad we did because this is a very nice little coffee shop. It's located in a little strip mall and you will definitely miss it if you are not looking for it. The inside is small with just one big table with high chairs around it. I decided to try their cold brew and they had 3 on the menu. A regular one, coconut and nitro. I decided to give the nitro a try. It's served out of a beer tap. Nice nitrogen infused cold brew with a thick foam on top. It is a bit pricey at $6 but you get what you paid for. It was very smooth and creamy. This is an interesting neighborhood coffeeshop that serves up good joe! Owned by a lovely Indian couple (I think - forgive me if wrong!), you can tell that, while this isn't a fancy Starbucks replacement, they are not trying to be and they are passionate about crafting a great cup of coffee! Atmosphere is small but clean and cozy, with warm vibe throughout. Again, this place is not modeled by corporate interior designers so have a correct expectation when you go here. (Good coffee, good people, good times). I like their large communal table where 3 friends and I sat enjoying our cold brew on a Sunday afternoon - it was velvety smooth and fragrant! We all agreed that it was the perfect beverage to cool off and awaken ourselves on hot & drowsy Sunday afternoon. Owners shared briefly about their passion for coffee and had us sample their nitrobrew-on-tap, one with coconut. While it was a bit bitter for my taste personally, aroma was legit! A happening place, a large group came by to sit near the windows and seemed to have a good time. If traveling fast on Route 17 South you might miss the place. The place is a bit small but the decor fits their business. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the various types of coffee they offer (and teas). And at their recommendation I ordered the Sidamo (origin: Ethopia roast: dark/medium) and a latte. The Sidoma had hints of aromatic flavors of fruit and chocolate; great recommendation! The latte was spot on as well. I even ordered another cup to go. I was looking for a the crepes or avocado smash nut but was told they only serve them during the evenings of Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays . But I'll definitely be back to try more of their coffee. I messaged Pat via Instagram. I asked about whole coffee beans that I could buy for my new espresso machine at home that I just purchased. He suggested "the Legender" which is what they use for their espresso's in their cafe. I decided to go there and I was greeted by a big smile by and by the aroma of the coffee that is there and being made. He took the time to give me some tips and ask me about my espresso set up. He gave me some parameters for the specific bean and roast level of the Legender. 18 grams in, 38 to 40 grams of extracted volume in 30 second brew time. This worked out great for me and it has been the best espresso shot I have been able to pull out of my ECM Synchronika. The best part about my interaction with Pat is I could feel his liveliness, passion and excitement when talking about the process of making an espresso. I will definitely go back! read more

Great little coffee shop! I am currently a huge fan of cold brews and a friend of mine (holla Cat D.) told me to hit up Koffeewagon for their coconut cold brew. How could I say no to that? I've been meaning to check out this joint since it first opened, so on my way home from a spin class I stopped in to grab a cold brew. Like another Yelper pointed out... start slowing down when you pass Starbucks otherwise you might miss it. It's in a strip mall so be on the look out! The shop is pretty tiny with a table in the center and some high top chairs. There were 2 people sitting at the table when I walked in and I wonder if this place ever gets overly crowded? I would think it could get a little uncomfortable if it was packed. But it wasn't packed when I went in and I was greeted right away. I asked about their cold brew and was told that they have a coconut and blueberry flavored cold brew. I was intrigued by the blueberry and I was offered a little sample of both. They were both delicious but I decided to stick with the coconut cold brew. It was so nice and refreshing. I overheard the owner saying that the cold brew is flavored with all natural ingredients. That is so awesome and hard to find! I'll definitely be back to have their blueberry cold brew. Perhaps new cold brew flavors will be coming around the corner as well? And once I am over my cold brew phase, I'll certainly be back to try their other coffees. read more

I discovered this place on my way to work after realizing that Starbucks' parking lot, just north of there is a death trap. Their selection of coffee is fantastic and each cup is individually ground and drip brewed. That really should be 'nough said because their ratings tell the story better than I can. However, this is not really a 5 Star review. It's more like 4 3/4 because the parking lot has craters that are reminiscent of Bagdad during the war. Fix the potholes and earn the much coveted extra 1/4 Star. Kudos. See you tomorrow morning! read more
