I didn't realize that Miami had any deli sandwiches except one in the Gables. I was so pleasantly surprised when my friend told me to check out Roasters n Toasters - I had always assumed it was a chicken spot. I had been missing out on delicious sandwiches, pickles and coleslaw for all these years. The woman who helped me on the phone was super kind and patient as I was placing a phone order and wasn't in front of a menu. She brought the food out to my car - I got the perfect pair on challah bread - corned beef & pastrami with sauerkraut- beyond amazing!!!! I will definitely be ordering from here again. My family has been a long time customer at the RnT on US 1 across from Shorty's. Everything has been good there. Have eaten in and have plenty of takeouts and deliveries. Parking can be rough but we've managed. Since the parking is easier at the new location on US1 we've given it a few tries. Eating in has been fine, service has been great and food was good. But three times that we ordered chicken soup to go there have been small bones in it . Very dangerous! Thank goodness we bit into it and didn't swallow them. Ordered some white fish spread for the High Holy Days and found bones in it. Relative that ate it felt very unnerved after she accidentally swallowed it. Seems like someone is in a hurry. We tried to call for a takeout order to help facilitate our order as we were on a time crunch. As we attempted to order we were placed on hold and eventually had to rush in to order in person. Three times I've been to Roasters-n-Toasters on 128 ST, and three times the experience has been nothing short of amazing. I don't remember who tended to us the first visit (such a beautiful and attentive gal), but visits two and three have been Ken. He has such a wonderful character, and so caring. Roasters 'n Toasters is the real deal. My husband and I always get the everything bagels with chive cream cheese. We just returned from NYC where we were on the lookout for comparable "NY bagels" and we did not find another bagel with chive cream cheese that surpassed Roasters. Food is good and service acceptable, but prices are rediculously high. For instance, they charged me $10 for a sliver of prepackaged plain cheesecake. I would also advise you to check your bill carefully before you pay it. My server made a mistake and charged me for a dish I didn't order. If you like roasting then you should be fine. The AC seemed to not be working and it was cooler outside the restaurant. The service was not that great, had to ask for things multiple times. If I could give zero stars I would. Ordered on Uber eats for pickup Mother's Day Sunday morning. Food was supposed to be ready at 9:20am. I arrived at 9 to ensure some of what I ordered came out properly because the online menu did not give certain options for preparing the dishes. I was chaos upon arrival, clearly not enough help and violation of every social distancing "rule" imaginable. There were 25 people crammed inside many of the Uber, postmates and door dash drivers pushing their way to the front because their food wasn't ready and they were backed up tremendously. They kicked all those drivers out and made them wait outside At 9:30 my phone messages me that the food is ready and closes out the order on my account. Meaning my food was given to me and the order satisfied. When I went to the counter they had no record of my name in their system. They finally located the order after 5 minutes but hadn't started making it yet. So they asked I patiently wait 15-20 minutes while they get it together. At this point the place is rocking with 25+ people inside all getting upset with how delayed their food is. One gentleman ordered his for delivery and showed up to the restaurant because the food never arrived an hour after the delivery time. Sure enough it was sitting in bags in back table of restaurant ice cold. Finally at 10:15, I simply asked "is my food ready yet". If not I would leave and call my Amex to get my money back. The woman told me they didn't even start making it yet and that she lost my ticket again. There was no remorse. No I'm sorry. No refund offered and no credit to come back. The woman said Sarcastically "I'm sorry I don't use Uber eats and so I can't help you with your refund". I guess they don't need my business. This place is amazing! Great food, service, with a real New York flair. Many places claim to have some type of New York style food item(s) but miss the "style" part every time. New York is all about great flavors, LARGE portions, and the price that fits the serving you get. This deli hits all those marks and then some. Miami restaurants tend to ration your food portions with added large cost to customers. Let's just say your not always getting what you pay for in the Miami food scene. Second visit was the charm! FIRST VISIT This new location doesn't have its act together. We were there for lunch. No one came over to take our drink order, waited a long time for the order to be taken and even longer for the food to arrive. Both items ordered were wrong. Even the coleslaw and pickles were not automatically brought to the table. I observed many other diners returning their food (obviously something wasn't right). Three stars because when they FINALLY got the order right, it was good. However a spinach salad without spinach isn't right I recognize that they have only been open a short time so I'll go back on about a month to see if they get their act together I sincerely hope that someone from the restaurant reads this review and takes some action SECOND VISIT Went back on 6/20/17 for lunch. 6/17/19 I had lunch this restaurant. My meal was very good as I expected. The service left a lot to desired. The location was far from busy and it took the server over 5 minutes to greet me. Then he brought the menu and it was another long wait for the order to be taken. It took nearly 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I asked for ketchup and mustard that was another wait. Awesome place with a great vibe. It is a bit in the pricey side but the food is really good. The French toast is huge and delicious and they give you a huge tall glass for your orange juice unlike some places that give you a little cup and charge you a lot. Was very disappointed with my corned beef sandwich - looked like a bunch of fatty scraps piled together. An old deli trick in "building" a sandwich. In addition the service was so poor that it was nonexistent. What really concerned me was the State of Florida health inspection on 1/31/2019 - 34 VIOLATIONS - return inspection on 2/1/2019 still 16 VIOLATIONS - not the place that I would feel comfortable eating. We are always trying new places and today was Rosters n Toasters. There was a 25 min wait but we really waited around 15 min. The server was nice enough to explaining the menu as it was our first time here. Portions are huge and food was good too. We did not get the complimentary coleslaw but everything else was good.
