I had exactly two dentists from the time my first tooth sprouted until the age of 45. Twice-yearly cleanings, all requisite work. Having never experienced dental savagery or significant pain I had no idea how fortunate I'd been. Returning to Fresno in 2004, I began my dentist hunt, an eye-opening, disheartening experience. I went thru no fewer than five dentists, my opinions ranging from bland acceptance to distinct ire with the work/care I received, ultimately becoming an anti-dentite (thanks Jerry !). In approx 2009 I found Dr Smith who is essentially as perfect a dentist as one can find. None of us enjoys dental work but it's actually a pleasure to be in that office and receive that standard of care. Dr Smith is extremely skilled, knowledgeable, approaches his work w zeal and - get this - he's fun. Dentists aren't fun. He's somehow a dynamo w a kind, calming presence all at once. I can speak w equal enthusiasm about his caring and supportive staff (Melissa is HEAVEN-SENT). All options/costs are presented and discussed in detail. I now have extreme tooth sensitivity so I do request nitrous - do not deprive yourself of this pleasure, for a small fee your mind will go to its happy place and you will not care about the holes being drilled into your head. I can't sing high enough praises for Dr Smith and staff. Won't trust my teeth to anyone else. Bonus: Dr Smith is a passionate audiophile and his playlists are fantastic. Go see him. read more

The staff in the office and Dr. Smith are all so nice and helpful. I am terrified of needles especially in my mouth and needed to have extensive work done. They explained everything to me and had ways to get around my fear. By the time I was having shots in my mouth I didn't feel them nor did I care. About 5 hrs later I "woke" up and was done. Dr. Smith even called me later that night to check on me. I would recommend them highly. They even helped with some work my daughter needed done. I got notification they were kicking her off my dental policy at 22. That was less than a month a way. Dr. Smith's office staff ensured that all her work was complete before her B-Day. They were amazing. Again, you couldn't ask for more friendly, helpful staff and Dr. Smith did an excellent job on my teeth. Because of horrible past experiences I hadn't been to a dentist in years. I found Dr. Rob Smith on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Everyone in the office is so nice and compassionate. They take the time to not only explain procedures and treatment plans, but they actually ask you how you are feeling and if you feel anxious. They also understand that cost is a factor to most people. They help you make the best decision for your individual situation. I feel like a human being when I am there, not just a name on a chart. The best part was after an intense lengthy procedure Dr. Rob Smith called me the next day to personally check in on how I was doing. It's always the little things that go a long way! My dental issues began as a child and I have a severe fear of the dentist office but from the first visit I new that I would be ok. Even during COVID Dr Smith and his staff took care of me and ALWAYS PUT MY COMFORT FIRST (Even gave me a comfy blanket during procedure). I recently cracked a tooth that Dr had been preparing for crown ( I'm a grinder) and Dr Smith said he would extract it AND do the IV sedation on the house! I thought I would still owe $ but DR. I first saw Dr. Smith for a dental emergency. Even initially on the phone he was professional, kind and considerate. Today, I came in for a consultation for a number of procedures and my experience was just as pleasant. As a middle aged woman, I've seen my fair share of dentists, but Dr.Smith is by far the most ethical and caring. He offered sedation and treatment options that were most appropriate for me without much of the usual up-selling that has sadly become too common in the medical profession today. I have been going to Dr. Rob Smith for years. I always have such a wonderful experience with the front desk girls they are always so happy. My dental hygienist Bobbitt is so wonderful. I just recently meet with Melissa for my implant that I will be having done soon, she was very thorough with all my questions. She had all my insurance information up on the computer screen I knew how much I was going to need when I came in and I was not pressured to schedule right then if I was not ready. The only reason why I even made an appointment here was because of my father. He has an issue with anxiety , especially with visiting any dentist's office. when he was referred to Dr. Smith he was nervous but soon overcame his nerves and anxiety when he met the staff and Dr. Smith. I started here for the sedation dentistry because I was anxious about dentists. Since I've been coming to this practice for several years, I never need the sedation anymore.
