The Sports complex was added to Pine Island Park in 1991. A swimming pool and recreation complex were added to the existing park. The new facilities were named for Davie restaurateur and community leader Robert H. Bamford, who died on December 14, 1991. He opened the Hitching Post restaurant in downtown Davie in 1975. He founded the Davie Optimists group which met at his restaurant and which sponsored softball teams and organized events at the Davie Rodeo Arena. Mr. Bamford was well known for his work with the youth of Davie. He was a resident of Cooper City, serving as the city's mayor in 1976, and on the City Council from 1974 through 1975. This 32 acre park in Davie contains an aquatic center, baseball / softball diamond, fitness center, indoor gymnasium, skateboard park, meeting rooms, picnic areas, playground, and trails. I discovered the park while visiting the annual town of Davie Rummage Sale. I was impressed with all of the park facilities. This is a great resource for the residents of Davie.

This is easily one of the best sports complex in broward county. The amount of activities it has there, the size, the people, its clean. I just love going there on weekends and spending the entire evening relaxing there.

Main entrance just off pine island road.

Plenty of parking to start your adventure and be ready to explore and be amazed with each step. It offers many trials and paths, paved and unpaved for the adventure seekers. Might see a nice horse rider as well as they have a horse trail through the park. Fully shaded trails allowing you to be engulfed in nature and local wildlife. We saw an armadillo which was cool. Lovely variety of botanical species that's keeps you intrigued. Very peaceful and zen which is great for relaxation and meditation. Welcome center offers a wealth of information and artwork and a history museum allowing you to absorb and increase your knowledge of the area. They also offer indoor rented space for functions. Lovely park for a great hike and walk or for relaxation as you sit in the many rocking chairs staring into the lagoon with tranquility!

No noise except the beautiful sound of birds shirping. Have a sit on one of their benches and enjoy a moment of introspection and thinking. Stroll down the many walkways and trails and enjoy nice lake views and untouched old trees that have branches stretching wide and low with spanish moss hanging. Dreamy almost ghostly like vibe. The visitor's center is big and has a museum exhibition inside about tribal history. Wish it was closer to home otherwise this would be my go to meditation park. Just a peaceful and beautiful place.

The trail is about a mile around the lake and flat, making it an easy walk. Perfect for the kids to ride bikes or kick a ball around. There is a small event space available, restrooms are fairly clean but has no toilet paper. There are no drinking fountains. There is ample parking available however, they tend to fill up quickly on weekends. On the morning I walked the trail, there were a few doggy classes in progress with the cutest pups! Owners were friendly enough to let us pet them. This park is used a lot for photo shoots as well. We saw someone preparing a "Will You Marry Me?" back drop.

Stretching across only a modest 50-acres, it's the perfect place to unwind within some beautiful nature & it makes you feel as if the city isn't only a stones throw away. Offering free entry, as well, it's a great place to get outside & enjoy your day. Whether you want to walk, fish, exercise or relax, this park is the place to go. It only has one trail but it's sizable. The trail wraps entirely around the crystal clear lake & then some. There's an area with a decent incline/decline in elevation which is about as good as you're going to get in FL. I especially love the massive Australian pine trees that are throughout the entire park. Not only does it provide beautiful scenery & a home for the wildlife, it offers shade as you're on the trail. Keep in mind there's some areas that are totally clear of trees so it definitely gets hot during midday. For the most part, however, I'd say a good 3/4 of the park has some sort of cover/shade you can utilize. This park has been a part of my childhood & I still visit to this day so that speaks for itself. It's always been well maintained which is something I truly appreciate. Guests, for the most part, do a great job at being mindful of their belongings & not leaving trash. The city employees are good about staying on top of it, as well. Overall, I have nothing but great things to say about Wolf Lake & I love coming. Do yourself a favor & find an awesome local park like this one to get outside.

Plenty of parking and heavy foliage hiking trails with blacktop walking areas too. The security alerts are posted everywhere, "Park Under Video Surveillance", "Lock Your Vehicles", "Park At Own Risk", which actually brings a heighten safety concern for me as I sip my coffee in a secluded area. No pets are permitted on nature center grounds - assume since wildlife may devour a small dog, not sure. Other signs advise pets permitted by park permit only, but does not indicate on the posts about service dogs - kind of confusing. They provide guided nature walks through the park which seems like a fun tranquil activity for people with good knees and a decent pair of binoculars. The far west side of the park provides beautiful views of the New River and small critters like crabs along the waters edge.
