In addition to the key lime bread, I got the Farmer's Favorite Burrito and a chai tea latte scone. I don't recall the key lime bread having a ton of key lime flavor, but it was still good. I was more impressed with the chai tea latte scone and wished I had purchased more than one. The burrito was ok. I liked the bacon pepper jam but had a hard time finding much pulled pork in it. The restaurant is a cute little place. They have a drive-thru window for easy ordering if you can't or don't want to come inside and there's a few tables to sit at inside. I thought they had a nice selection of baked good for sale and even offered gluten friendly items if that's something you need.

Tim, our host took us (two adults and three children) around the orchard on a tractor sampling for us different apples until he understood our taste preferences then steered us to the ones we liked best. One of the highlights was trying the different heirloom apples including one that was President Thomas Jefferson's Favorite. Pieper's is about a two hour drive from Northern Chicago Suburbs but well worth the trip (most pick your own orchards within an hour or so are heavily picked leaving few apples low enough for children to get plus this is located in the rolling hills - moraines region -- of Wisconsin offering very good fall colors).

There is some playground equipment outside, and a large path leading to the store, which I suspect someone may have mistaken for a driveway before, since there was a sign clarifying that it was not, indeed, a driveway. There's a sausage outside you can pose with if you'd like, and a large Adirondack chair. If you're nearby and like sausage, Wisconsin products, or Johnsonville, it's worth a stop.
