My review is in reference to their customer service. I have never worked with a more unprofessional and incompetent company. As a contractor, we require lien releases. It takes them 7 days to respond. There is not a supplier in the construction industry that takes that long. I've emailed Kem Gotzen she doesn't possess the professional courtesy to even respond. When I call to follow-up and ask for the name of Kem's supervisor, rather than just give me a name; I just get transferred to a voice mail. One star is waaaaay too much! I was warned to stay away from this company and I wish I would have listened but, until now I've had no issues and I use A LOT of concrete. Story time: I placed a large order for concrete delivery, the lady on the phone miscalculated and left me short in the middle of a big job. It's Friday afternoon, I need the concrete immediately or my job is RUINED. I called Robertson's and asked for a manager, I got ROBERT who refuses to tell me his last name. The phone calls are recorded so I ask him to listen to the original call because I know the lady totally messed up the order, she kept getting it wrong when I placed the order. Plus, I need more concrete immediately and I shouldn't have to pay for their screw up, right? Robert hangs up on me. Great business, bravo Robert! He calls me back TWO hours later and is completely rude and disrespectful and hangs up on me AGAIN. I look up the CEO on their website and ROBERT with NO last name answers once again and hangs up on me for a third time. This story has a happy ending though, lucky for me, I reached out to another concrete company and explained the situation. Once they heard that it was Robertson's who left me high and dry, they bent over backwards and did a late delivery for $100 cheaper than what Robertson's was charging me - on a Friday afternoon! Shout out to BENDER READY MIX for their amazing customer service, they just got a new huge customer. Turns out the other concrete companies can't stand Robertson's either! Lesson learned. Their cement truck backed into my car on a local load while making a left turn (I believe they pulled up too far for the turn). The truck just drove off after hitting my car and I had to chase it down. I got the drivers information and filed a claim. Their insurance denied all liabilities and denied to backing into my car. If we could give negative stars we would. Ordered 16 tons of rock for delivery at 9-10am. Driver shows up at 7am banging on our door then proceeds to have MAJOR attitude and trying to start a problem with us. When we call to let the company know that their delivery driver was extremely unprofessional rude and 2 hours early, we find out that we were charged $100 more than what the company told us the cost would be for delivery. Not only that, the workers hung up on us multiple times then proceeded to tell us we were wrong although we had a receipt that specifically showed the charges and time they were supposed to deliver. This whole experience was absolutely ridiculous and I would advise everyone to go elsewhere. They wouldn't even give us a refund for just what they overcharged us. Terrible experience. read more

I've been receiving a California preliminary notice that was sent to the wrong person. I have been trying to get in touch with their customer service to correct this mistake but nobody at Robertson's wants to do anything. I have left Kem Gotzon three voicemails with no response. I have called for other agents who won't do anything and just constantly put me on hold and then drop my call. I'm receiving letters that tell me to go to the post office and am trying to help Robertson's get properly paid. Marissa provides horrible customer service. I've never dealt with a company like Roberton's who avoids all responsibilities. Get your concrete but i pray you don't have to deal with their customer service. read more

THESE GUYS ARE REALLY HORRIBLE. Service sucks beyond belief. I used them for a driveway I was doing and, boy, do I wish I had read these Yelp reviews before calling them. Their trucks were each over an hour late. Over time the concrete slab dried unevenly, causing dark blotchy spots throughout the driveway. Robertson's couldn't care less about this or about customer service. They very rudely told me that they don't guarantee color. I wasn't looking for a color guarantee. Fact is, due to the trucks being late, the concrete already began to dry before being delivered to me. This was the cause of the problem, not a mere color issue. These idiots are too dumb to figure it out and simply don't care. Never again! This was the first and will be the last time I ever use Robertson's. Clearly Roy is a company troll. I'm not sure what the deal is with the Jason review. Jason seems to think it is OK for a company to send threatening letters to people in an attempt to strong-arm them in paying a bill they don't owe. I, like all of the other legitimate reviews got the same threatening letter. I had a highly rated licensed contractor pour a concrete slab. The General Contractor hired Robertson's Ready Mix to help with the project. I paid the General Contractor and subsequently got a threatening letter from Robertson's. I am not very happy about the letter I got from Robertson's but I do have to compliment them on coming up with a creative way to get the General Contractors to pay them - threaten the customers with a lien. Obviously if you threaten the customer, the first call the customer makes is to the General Contractor. There is however a consequence to this strategy - it ruins your reputation, hence all of the negative reviews. Does anyone think it's OK to send these threatening letters to the customer? Threatening the customer with a lien on their property! In my case, it was the contractor that hired them and was late in paying them. In fact, I didn't even know who "Robertson's Ready Mix" was until I got a threatening letter from them. I want to thank Yelp for helping the consumer out companies like this. After 30 years of dealing with a giant. I am like so many Contractors. We Are tired of over booking and Hot Concrete and a 2 hour window which is usually 3 hours. When there product is bad they blame and point fingers. I ordered a 3000 psi concrete and It cracked everywhere I cord while Robertsons filmed me I had the concrete tested it reached almost a 7000 psi which is called a flash set. I used Robertson's ready mix. I have an account there for the past year. Had a job crack everywhere within first two months. Called sales man and told of problem, and that I cant find my original ticket from job site, can you send me copy. I got copy in a couple of days. It didn't look right because of all the water ticket showed added. I resumed looking for original ticket and I found it. What I also found out was that Robertson's modified the original ticket before faxing to me, suggesting massive amounts of water were added. The original ticket shows 10 gallons added the modified copy shows 25 gallons added. I was never contracted, contacted, to this company, they are the one who are contracted to the contractor. What a waist of time, they showed up at 3:30 putting our crew into overtime. On top of that, our specific job required approximately .49 yards, so we ordered 1 yard to be safe. This truck filled about half of our area and said that was a full yard. They forced us to order another truck, with another yard. We had no choice, as we had to finish our project and couldn't leave a half finished hole in the sidewalk. I called and spoke with Robert, I guess he handles complaints. He called quality control, who verified that the cement was not short! Seriously, why would their own quality control say anything other than that!! Robert also stated that he had "dealt with about 10 other complaints" on the same day, in the same area. Hmmm..... sounds fishy to me. We will NEVER use them again. read more

Robertson's attempted to extort me for over 3x the money they were legally owed thru the improper use of a Mechanic's Lien. I was not provided an invoice, only told to pay or risk having a Lien placed on my home. Though they did have the right to collect from me because my contractor (who I paid in full) did not pay them, their representative (Maria Saucedo) would not respond to my questions on the total owed according to California Code, Civil Code - CIV § 8430. Instead, she directed me to pay her customer (the company my contractor placed the order thru) and told me "I don't have time to read these lengthly emails your sending" (direct quote from an email). The intent of Mechanic's Liens is to prevent a business loss, and it was used as an attempt to gain a profit for a subcontractor. Beware when dealing with Robertson's, they will purposely and carelessly overcharge you for one of their good customers (contractors). More importantly, carefully select the contractor you hire as this may have all been avoided if my contractor had paid his bills. If you end up being pursued by Robertson's for more then you should legally have to pay, here is some info I found useful in understanding Mechanic's Lien Law. California law clearly states: California Code, Civil Code - CIV § 8430 (a) The lien is a direct lien for the lesser of the following amounts: (1) The reasonable value of the work provided by the claimant. One of their drivers broke the gate while on duty of one of the properties we manage. After the occurrence, they told us to file the claim and submit all the corresponding documents. After submitting the documents, Talia Rippa, the only person in the risk management department, dodged my and my employees' phone calls and emails for 3 weeks straight. I spoke to the operator and she told me Talia is at her desk, yet is not responding. I still have not received a response and will have to drive 50 miles to Corona tomorrow to visit their office in person. This is, undoubtedly, the most unprofessional firm I have ever encountered in construction and urge you to use ANY firm, except this one. read more

I was driving behind one of their trucks and it was dropping rocks. As I was passing the truck to avoid a crack to my windshield, one of them hit my windshield and cracked it. Called them up and emailed them pics of my damage and the pics I took their truck, filled out a claim form, and my windshield was replaced by SafeLite in 3 weeks. Took off a star because they should secure their load. That is unacceptable. Seems like I got lucky because all the other reviews are one star. This company is incompetent!! I wish I had checked yelp first because there is NO WAY we would have been using them after reading these reviews!! The one star is because I cant give them negative starts!! Not only were they late but they had screwed up our order by putting 5 yards into a truck that should have had 10 yards in it. We were adding our own color to the load so in goes $300 worth of color to find out that his truck only had 5 yards in it. Not only did we order a 10 yard load (that is recorded when you place the order) but the driver told us that he had all 10 yards in his load before we added any color. He realized he only had 5 yards when another truck arrived with the remaining 5 yards. By this time we have 5 yards poured with 10 yards worth of color added to it and no way of fixing this problem. So now I have 4 guys removing the cement while we are on the phone to Robertson's to order a 10 yard load with color already added. The problem now is the color isn't what I want. It's close to want I wanted but it's a lot darker and I don't like it. Instead of Robertson's making us a fresh mix of 10 yards with the new color, we were told by the young driver who delivered that they added another 5 yards to the old 5 yards that had now been in the truck for longer than 90 mins! Now this job ended up costing us major stress, (attitude from their reception gal), extra labor, extra pump fee, $300 color, and here's how Robertson's wants to "fix" it all. They admit that this was their screw up. They have listened to the recorded order that proves we are not at fault here but they still want us to pay for 10 yards of their colored load and they will deduct the price of the extra fees that we had. What I don't get is that I still end up with a shitty quality cement in a color that I didn't originally want!! Gillbert is the worst at returning your phone calls and in the end the "Big Boss" convinced my husband to settle for an amount that I don't think is fair at all. I still end up paying for a color that I don't want. I want to take them to court!!! read more

They put a lien against my property without ever contacting me about the bill my contractor was late in paying. (No fault of mine--I paid my contractor!) BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!!! I agree with the person that would have given them a ZERO STAR rating. I wish I had thought of Yelping them before using them. I am a landscape contractor and I have poured and finished concrete at residential projects for the last 20 years (without exaggerating at least 500 jobs). So I can talk a bit about the subject with confidence. Fortunately I have only used them once. Last July I called my regular concrete company, MarCon in San Marcos. As fate had it, they were booked and did not have two trucks available that day. I should have waited! I called Robertson and just like the others, the first truck arrived late (I think it came from Temecula). The second truck came at least 45 minutes late. Concrete will cook if not poured promptly. We finally poured and finished the concrete and all ended well. In October, my client called me and said there were some spots in the slab that were not drying evenly (a total understatement). There were some large dark brown blotches that looked horrible. I tried pressure cleaning the spots and the slab in general, hoping that that would allow trapped moisture to escape. After a month or so, I received a call again from my client saying the spots were the same. I called Robertson to have a rep come out and see the situation. They asked I email a picture of the affected area so they could open a file. I did and the emailed me back a list of things I could do to release what they said was pretty standard blotching (maybe with their concrete cause I have never had that happen before). The list included instructions on using a pressure cleaner (done) also using vinegar and brush (I did), using acid and a brush (I did) and last but not least a sandblaster! Mind you after each application, waiting a week or two to see if it worked. I tried them all with no success. I asked Robertson's to send a rep so they could credit me the faulty concrete they sold me as I was going to tear out the work and do it again for my client, at a cost to me of $9800. I fully expected them to supply me with the 13 yards of concrete it would take to re-do the work. The guy they sent out said they don't guarantee the color, only the compressive strength. That is like a paint company guaranteeing the paint will stick to the wall but not the color you purchased. Asinine! The guy knew there was something wrong with the concrete but kept insisting it was trapped moisture, and kept saying the finishers did the work wrong. 13 yards of concrete can't be but $1200 in cost to them. But they rather screw the client rather than make things right. Since I am not Robertson's I offered my client chiseled travertine tile over the concrete. I figured it's way less messy and my cost was going to be about the same. Besides my client deserved it! If you use them, you deserve what you will get!! Worst company ever for communications. I am a general contractor and we hired a subcontractor to pour concrete for us. The concrete has been in place for several months and there is an issue with it. We have requested that the subcontractor and their quality control department meet us on the job site. Many phone calls to "Gilbert". Never returned. Several calls to his boss "Steve", again no response. It is ridiculous that this company is so non responsive. I understand that they are big and we are small. regardless, basic management is to return phone calls. If you have a choice I would use anyone else. read more

Besides being late, and scamming proportions, the most troubling thing about this company is their terrible regard for customers. After getting 5 trucks from them in the last 6 months, I think my results are fairly consistent. First pour showed up 7:30am instead of 7am for an August pour, hardened in the shoot due to late delivery and heat starting, driver added 15 gallons of water to 7 yards = cracks everywhere, even after covering . Another pour showed up over an hour late, driver actually thought he was in someones driveway to deliver my load IN ANOTHER CITY, dispatch actually told me my load was onsite and ready to be poured, but the city and street didnt even match the order. The driver ended up adding 16 gallons of water to 6yds to get it to flow, still couldnt get the last yard out, footings cracked everywhere. The driver stayed 2.5 hours to washout what hardened in his chute - the delivery required exactly 4 turns from the plant to location - how do you mess that up, the waived the 1.5 hour stand-by fee for my trouble - had it arrived on time, there would have been no more than 15 minutes of standby to pour footings - all you have to do is dump it in the hole! On next order I tried to give dispatch exact directions, he got a rude attitude with me saying "the driver will be there on time", even tho my first hand experience said otherwise. Amazingly this order arrived early, but you would think they would notify me that it would be 1yd short when I ordered. A 2nd clean-up truck was ordered immediately - before the first one even finished. My calculations showed 9.5 yds on a 4" slab (no footings), I ordered 11 to be safe - somehow it took a 3rd truck totaling 12.5 yd to fill the form - of course the dispatch manager said I dont know how to do math and got rude with me over an hour of stand-by time. 2 different concrete crews have told me not to use Robertson because they are always late, and the loads always magically shrink excessively en route, I picked them due to the proximity of the plant, but next pour will be from Superior even if its 50 miles further to the plant. read more

THIS IS A LOW LIFE COMPANY. It sends threats of a lien to homeowners whether there is just reason or not. A previous post asks, "Did any people READ the notice?" Yes, we did and the face of the document does not say, "Not a Lien." It says, " PLEASE ISSUE JOINT CHECKS" Our job was for $700 worth of cement, which our contractor paid the same day.
