First day David came to my house he walked in and "sighed" I told him sorry for the mess sell on EBay, we had packaged ready to be mailed and he said " Ya I could tell " when he walked outside my mom said this guy is RUDE, I shrugged it off until he gave attitude when I asked him a question. Not sure if that's just how she speaks but she sounded annoyed and gave off tones of attitude. Update: after reading the reviews, specifically the one stars, it seems that I am not the only one who has felt that way or has experienced the same interaction with the woman who answers the phone. I couldn't recommend a better company for heater/ac repair. I was quote by Northstar 6k to fix the heater and 17k total for the ac heater and duct work which they told me HAD to be replaced and the unit should be condemned. We called Tru Way and the gentlemen that came out was at my house for maybe an hour tops. Well he did not diagnose and fix the problem. It's not working still. I let my Insurance company know. Dave was so unprofessional, no name on a shirt no business card. The unit was looked at by someone else and there are 2 leaks David didn't find. So the work I paid Dave for was a waste! The Freon that was left had to be removed. Our HVAC unit started making noise outside so I put a claim in with my home warranty company and they Sent Tru Way Appliance out to fix it. I have to admit that while I was waiting for them to come out, , I looked on yelp to see what the ratings were and they were not real good, but I can tell you firsthand that they did a great job at my house. Dave came out and quickly diagnosed the problem and had to order a new motor for the fan outside, he told me he would be back in a couple of days to install it. He came back three days later installed the fan and everything worked great. I don't know why people gave them bad ratings, but I can tell you, Dave knows what he's doing and did a great job. read more

ACwent out about 3 1/2 weeks ago. We went through our insurance for repairs. They refer us to an AC company named Premier AC, La Verne, CA. So they send us a Technician that just finished Tech school. The young man states that we need to replace our AC unit and blower. Takes them 2 weeks to process paperwork to our Insurance company. Of course our Insurance company wants a second opinion. Tru-Way Appliance contacts us, gives us a priority appointment. Dave arrives on time. Comes into the house takes a look at the blower and AC unit outside, questions me about the situation and prior technician. He states I'll have it running in no time. I look at him like he is crazy. I reply"What, you're kidding". I'm in shock and pretty upset. I watch Dave replace a motor and condenser to my blower in 1 hour. Talked to Dave for a minute after he completed the job. So we have a home warranty plan that uses Tru-way and I had the pleasure of having them come out to our home in North End of Berdo. Dave fromTru-Way came out on Thursday 12,2020 Our heater wouldn't come on. So he ventured up on the roof, we have a duel pack unit. Well he took a look and did something's and bingo it came on ! He cleaned the flame igniter with a piece of sand paper. What an honest guy Dave is. !!!! If this were someone else I bet it could have been a different outcome. There still are honest people in this world. Before we had American home shield we would pay out the pocket to repair out AC spent 600.00 on just a blower motor and we knew we got ripped off and he was a friend and used him multiple times. But every time this other company came out he would say isn't time for a new unit. What a sham! I've read a couple of Tru ways reviews and I'm surprised by some of the negative views! I hope y'all have the same kind of hospitality that we had by using Tru way. Oh btw he even changed my thermostat because I had mentioned it to him that I did not like it so he goes out to his truck and brings in a new one and didn't charge me anything! I'm so upset that people have no integrity or passion for their jobs anymore. Waited 3 weeks, the lady who answers the phone has no business doing clerical work or working with the public. When I asked her to speak to the supervisor, she said, "I'm the co-owner". After 3 weeks, the second owner shows up, noticed the ceiling is covered with plastic. He tells me he wants to go through there to my attic. When I explained a company just came to remove asbestos and lead he didn't care. He got a ladder and when up, removed the plastic and while standing on the ladder, he reached out to my AC grabbed a piece and said. "Oh, here's the problem", jerked the piece right out and came down. He told me it was going to be a lot of money and took the piece with him. When I called my home warranty insurance, I was told the insurance could not cover for the damage - because the Tru-Way guy reported (per my insurance) that the guys who removed the asbestos stepped on the AC's tray and vent line and something about a part being removed. The original problem? AC was leaking and damaged my ceiling... my home insurance sent a team to test for asbestos and lead and a second team removed the asbestos. I was waiting for the AC to be fix to do my ceiling. At any rate, I have asked several times for the report to get a second opinion but my insurance won't provide me a copy directly but sent True -Value a copy to send to me; but as of today I do not have a copy of the written report. My insurance also asked Tru-Value to resolve the problem but Tru Value refused, they claimed no wrong doing. Therefore, my company provided me with Tru-Value's insurance number to file a claim (I will edit this post to provide you the phone number in case you would like to file a report). The asbestos company was sent by my home insurance (Different insurance from my Home Warranty), when I contacted my home insurance I was informed they won't cover the damage either; because the Tru-Way guy not only added to the damage he removed the piece and took it with him. After this I'm writing to the Business Bureau. I recommend you all do the same. I will also send a letter to the Chamber of Commerce and my local elected officials. read more

Do not call these people. Unfortunately the home warranty company that my agent chose for me contracted this company to fix my heater that wouldn't turn on. They took 3 days to call to schedule then scheduled the end of the week to come out- knowing that we were freezing. They sent out David (who was grunting and cussing the whole time while looking at my heater) who told me he needed to get two parts and would be back at the end of the week to finish the repair. Promptly took my $60 service fee and left. Instead of getting a call for a repair appointment, I received a call from the warranty company telling me that they won't be covering my service because David told them the heater never worked. Thank you David! And thank you secretary at the office that refused to give me David's last name. I will be forwarding this complaint to the contractors license board for them to review. Two weeks freezing without heat and nothing but the runaround. Quick to lie to me and to take my $60 and leave me freezing. Scammer *Update response to owners response: no one scammed my insurance company. In fact I received an apology for your poor service and a full refund from my 'warranty company'. I was referred through my home warranty people to contact them for a dishwasher repair. I called, made an appointment, the repair man was nice and also arrived on time. The problem was diagnosed and the part was ordered.The part came in within the time frame, another appointment was scheduled, the repair man came back, and the dishwasher is fixed. Everything was done as expected and no complaints from me! It was also appreciated that everything was explained to me in a way that I understood, but didn't feel like an idiot because I don't know how a dishwasher works. I completely agree with all the reviews so far. The lady that answers the phone is SO rude. I just moved into my new home and had issues with the dishwasher. Unfortunately, I was referred to this company through my home owners insurance. My dishwasher leaks water all over the floor every time you turn it on to wash a load. The technician came out, didn't bother taking anything apart, and looked inside with a flashlight. He was here for a total of 10 minutes (including the time it took me to write the check). He didn't want to wait for the dishwasher cycle to finish (so he could see the leaking water), and said to call him if it leaked and he would come back. Of course it leaked, so when I called, he just said "oh its your soap," and never physically returned like he said he would. I had to deal with the rude woman in the office to reschedule. She should not be dealing with customers, that's for sure. After reading the reviews, I understand there are a few of Tru-Way's customers that had the same issue as I do, and had to go through another company to get it resolved. As luck would have it, my A/C went down when it was about 100° at my place. I have used Tru-Way several times over the years and have always been happy with their service. This was no exception. I called, Barbara told me what to do on my end, i took out the faulty part, ran it down and walked out with a new one. I installed it and I'm cool again. Saved myself about $20 bucks or so doing it myself. Don't let these negative reviews sway you. I don't know these people personally but they know what they're doing and how to do it and do it right. Prices are more than fair. Buying the part from them and doing it myself saved a lot of time and money. They would rather walk you through a DIY repair than take your money. They are not a spit and polish company. No "smell good plumber" type employees. Just a few down to earth folks doing a good job. If you want it done right, call Tru-Way. Many of their complaints are related to extended homeowners policies and what they won't cover, but the vendor takes the heat. Some things these folks can't do. They'll tell you. Give em a call. First let me tell you that I am a contractor and it really gets to me when some one tries to bluff me. Dave the tech from this place came today to my house and check on our unit as it was throwing hot air and not cooling. Now they came as a third party through old republic / warranty. When I purchased the home 2 years ago I've noticed what it appears dog urine on one side of the compressor, anyway this tech asked me about this and told him my suspicion. According to him the freon leaked and the unit needs to be replaced. A few hours later I get a call from old republic telling me they can't replace my unit because the report says dog urine caused the unit to leak the freon and damaged the internal electrical parts. Mind you that the unit had been working properly for the past 2 years since I've owned the home and the supposed urine is away from any electrical parts or the opposite way to cause any internal damage. The only reason why you all came out to my home is because since I had that warranty I thought I should use it. The actual problem is not unknown to me or isn't something that can't be fixed with out repair. Don't Bs a Bser. read more

I apologize for the length of this review, but this was quite an experience for me and wanted to express just how terrible it was. I was referred to True Way by a family member who had nothing but positive things to say about the company. When I called to schedule a service of my washer machine, I specifically told the secretary that I would have to have someone come and stay at my home to let the repairman in for the service (because I had an exam that morning) and would be unable to be home until around 2pm. I was given a service time of between 8am-noon, but was assured that it would likely be closer to 8am and that the repair man would only accept cash or check as payment. On the day of service, I was sure to have someone waiting bright and early at my house for the repair man. At noon after my exam, I checked my phone to see two missed calls--one from an unknown number and one from True Way telling me that the repair man was trying to get a hold of me for the repair but since he got no response he did not come. I called True Way immediately and was told for the FIRST time that they have their repairman call 15 minutes before a service to confirm someone would be there when the repair man arrived. I told the secretary that I was never told this information when I made the appointment and I could not get to my phone until noon that day, but I was very clear when I scheduled the appointment that I would have someone waiting at my house because I would be unable to be there. She could have at least had the repair man walk up to my door and knock before they moved on to the next appointment! She said she would contact the repair man (which she did with a text, not a phone call) and would direct him to my house. I had to make 4 phone calls to her to confirm that the repair man was on his way only to finally have him arrive at 2pm. Mind you, by now I had someone take 6 hours out of their day to wait for this repairman! When I finally rushed home around 2pm I expressed to the repairman that it was terrible that I had to have someone sitting at my home since 8am waiting for him to arrive. And his response in referring to the person I had waiting for him at my house was "oh, he's fine. He was watching hockey when I got here." I was shocked! I had someone take 6 hours out of their workday to wait for him for a mistake his secretary made and I received no apology! He left and quoted me $275 for the part and labor, taking my $55 deposit check with him. I call the secretary to express how upset I was over the inconvenience of the day and her response was "well we usually have our repair man call ahead" and "next time you should leave a contact number with a us if you can't be by your phone"---no apology for her mistake in failing to inform me of their procedure when I made the appointment. I asked her what she could do for me for the inconvenience and she says "well the guy who came to repair your machine is the boss man. So he's in charge." So the employees and boss seem unable to provide in the very least a simple apology for their mistake nor sufficient customer service. In the end, I purchased the $115 part on my own for $30 less than what they quoted and had the part installed only to discover that the part they recommended did not fix the problem with my machine. Paid $55 for nothing--terrible customer service and a misdiagnosis. read more

I was referred to this company by my warranty company and Tru Way's technician came out to look at my refrigerator and gave me a diagnosis. They indicated they would have to order my part. In which I believe they forgot to order. The tech came out on 5/18/22 (per my receipt). It's been over the 10 days! And I haven't heard back from these people. I have to call them each week for an update or to find out what the status of my part is. As you can see by my rating I am now feeling agitated! I called again today, just to get the same answer! Still no part! I left a message letting them know that I understand that my warranty did not cover that type of issue and that I have no problem paying the cash! And that it seems like they put my issue in the back burner since my warranty didn't cover it. The woman running the phones called me back with an attitude. She said it takes 10 business days for the part to come in (been over that) and in her exact words she started having an attitude. She said, "First off, I don't appreciate you saying that we are not helping you because your warranty doesn't cover that type of issue!" And before she can continue, I just hung the phone up. I do not appreciate being spoken to in that manner nor having her raise her voice at me like I'm some child of hers. Especially being a consumer! Beware! They are nice when they are trying to gain your business, but if they hear something they don't like, they will turn that niceness into rudeness! I'm going elsewhere to get my fridge fixed! I would give NEGATIVE stars if i could. We had a horrible experience with the service on multiple occasions. Our technician David left the job not completely finished and did not leave the appliances as they were when he arrived. He blamed us for the job and claimed "he did not have enough room to work" and also says that we needed to make our "little one" put the dryer hose back on because he himself did not fit behind the dryer, when he could have just moved our washer and dryer to fit behind. The lady who answers the phone spoke to us very disrespectfully, she was very rude. Halfway through the call she said "to not call her mam because it makes her feel old" but then we asked what is her name so we can refer to her as that and she got angry and said that she did not have to give us her name. On top of it she did not want to believe what we were telling her and kept saying that her repair man would never do what we were saying about him. They noted on their end to our insurance company that everything was okay and reported that there was nothing wrong. We are still not able to use our dryer and they expected us to finish the job on our end. Terrible all around and we have voice mails to prove. Do not go through the trouble of hiring them because we were treated ver bad. Would not recommend and we are asking our insurance companies to NEVER give us this company again. read more
