I've been here a few times. I've never been disappointed with the waitstaff, the food, or the other customers. Everyone is welcoming and kind. The Full English Breakfast was fantastic, especially the sausages. This would be a great place to watch soccer, they have a lot of TVs and a large projection TV in a different room. Robin Hood, truly a hero of the disenfranchised, is a worthy namesake for this classic British Pub. I popped in for the first time during a recent World Cup game in which the unlucky English side was playing Argentina (who went on to lose to Spain). The place was packed but the very kind proprietress found a seat for me, without a reservation and with a great view of the big screen TV. This pub seems to be a well-known gathering place for the local English Soccer Team fans; I may have been the only patron not sporting an English jersey. I was surprised by the vegan options offered on the classic pub menu and ordered the Vegan Aussie Pie, described as: 'Savoury "Beyond" Mince Pie, w/Puff Pastry top and Shortcrust Bottom served with Peas, Chips and Vegan Gravy'. It was shockingly delicious, meaty, rich and flavorful. Classic British Pub ambiance, amazing service, and keeping up with the times in terms of dietary options. Vegans, rejoice! Went to Robin Hood for a friends birthday dinner. There were about 16 of us and we were granted outside seating on the back patio. It was nice to have a semi private space out there because it was pet friendly outside. It was trivia night inside and the place was packed. Everyone seemed to have a good time. You can tell they are used to large parties. They handled our group very well. Drinks were flowing and the food was good. I had a couple of margaritas and would never order that there again. It was pretty bad. Definitely made with a mix not fresh. I asked for less mix in the second one. The waitress asked me if I just wanted to order a double. I wasn't asking for more alcohol just less mix. I ordered the double and could still taste the horrible mix. And whatever horrible house tequila they used. But that's on me for not asking what they were using. Other than that people enjoyed their beers. I had the fish and chips. They were very good and cooked absolutely perfectly. Though it's a bit of a drive from where I live, the Robin Hood pub is definitely a classic traditional English pub in the San Fernando Valley. I had their fish and chips, which was great. Also, they have traditional English beers on tap is all English pubs do!! It was late afternoon when I was in there and it was fairly uncrowded, but I hear it gets very crowded at night. Met with a bunch of us retirees from Grant High and had a blast. All science teachers and we all ordered drinks and delicious food. Ky was our spectacular waitress. She was so patient and kind, and also very efficient getting us our food. She definitely deserves a raise and a free steak dinner!!! They also serve great desserts but I was so full from my ribeye steak meal I could not get any. The British-Scottish theme is great and also there is a bar with great choices of drinks and people can play darts. Next Door on one side is a liquor store filled with all kinds of liquor from all over the world. On the other side is a shop with British and Scottish items if all kinds. I've visited my fair share of British pubs for reference, my aunt is British so I have higher expectations for British fare. So first off we'll start with the parking we get there and the parking lot is completely reserved for a liquor store which I thought was very odd but it's street parking only here basically so get ready to find a spot and walk from the neighborhood.. Next up ambience and atmosphere as far as pubs go, this is one of the better ones I've been to. It's very roomy very open and I noticed very family oriented. Lots of families eating here. I really enjoyed the ambience here next will I move onto service. The service here is excellent. Our server anticipated our needs the people helping her bus tables were super friendly. Everyone here is genuinely customer service oriented. You don't see that a whole lot these days and I just really appreciated it. Five stars for the entire staff. Next up the drinks they have my favorite British beer old speckled hen can't go wrong with that, but since I'm not drinking, I do appreciate that they had Guinness 0 on the menu and I had one of those. So now we'll move onto why the three stars like I said my food expectations are very high. So let's start off with the sausage roll abd the scotch egg. The scotch egg didn't have that nice crispy exterior that most scotch eggs have and the sausage layer was extra thick and that would be fine, but the sausage wasn't that great. Which brings me to the sausage roll. I always order a sausage roll at a British pub and this was probably at the lower end of rolls that I've had. Not a whole lot of flavor a very bland mushy mess and I was expecting Coleman's mustard because in the cute shop next-door they had Coleman's, but that's not what they served it with. Next up the food we had bangers and mash the texture on the bangers was completely off. They didn't look like bangers they looked like some other type of sausage and seemed rubbery and overcooked. Also had the fish and chips. The chips were just ok but the fish was really good. The batter was extra crispy and one of the better fish batters that I've had. Last up I'm gonna discuss the dessert. We ordered a sticky toffee pudding. It's something that I order quite frequently for dessert at pubs to have a fair comparison. I'm not kidding when I say that they took an Aunty's prepackaged sticky, toffee pudding, heated it up and then mixed up some birds custard mix and drenched the pudding in it to try to make up for the lack of taste in the pre packaged pudding. It was an absolute disaster and looked so unappealing.. The value was OK. We had all that food and it came to $95. I wish the food was better but it's a fair price for the amount of food that you get. read more

Okay, so an update from my last review: Don't order the afternoon tea. It's a pub not a tea house. But DO go for evenings. I've been coming here regularly for Pub Quiz now for about a year. They have great options for vegetarians. I regularly get mashed potatoes with veggie gravy just as a side. They have hard cider on tap. What's not to like? The weekly meal specials are hit or miss. My meat eating companions order them often. When they are British foods, they are typically excellent. I've tried the pasta specials. Not bad. Not great. What makes this a 5 star? Ambiance. Fish was very similar to Ye Olde Kings Head in SM (I grew up going there for special occasions and its the gold standard for fish & chips for me), although the chips looked sparse, its because they were under the fish. Bangers & Mash was good Shepherd's pie was good although the chunks of vegetables were quite large. Desserts were really good. Good decor My only wtf moment was that the mandatory 20% tip for larger parties was calculated on the taxed total rather than the subtotal. Robin Hood British Pub -- I really wanted to love this place. With vegan options on the menu, I was genuinely excited to give Robin Hood a try. Unfortunately, I don't see myself returning. We visited on a Friday around 4 p.m., and the restaurant was fairly quiet, so it wasn't a busy rush. Our server, however, seemed completely disengaged--no smile, no warmth, and very little personality. I don't expect over-the-top enthusiasm, but a friendly greeting goes a long way, especially when customers are kind and excited to be there. It was disappointing, particularly since we noticed another server in a different section who was welcoming and upbeat with her tables. The food itself was just okay. Not bad, but not memorable--and certainly not enough to outweigh the lackluster service. Glad to finally try this place! Has no idea you needed to call to make a reservation for trivia (and only day of!). So we had missed out the first time trying to attend (we were given the option for the patio but my friends and I didn't want that), but finally we're able to yesterday. It's a very cute definitely that old Irish feel when you are there. I ordered the Shepard pie and it was delicious. I ate the whole thing! I.lovednthe added gravy on the side to pour on top. Location 3: In Sherman Oaks, California on Burbank Blvd, East of Woodman Avenue. Free street parking is hard to come by. The parking spots in the back lot are also limited, and the majority of the spots belong to the neighboring businesses including the Mission Wine & Spirits store. I was told by the staff that these adjacent businesses are serious about enforcement and will get your car towed. Venue 4: Large restaurant and pub, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as English afternoon tea. The pub and the dining areas are separate, providing a calmer, quieter environment on the dining side. Drinks 3: Full Bar, Beer (tap and bottle), modest selection of wine, soft drinks and English Tea. I was rather disappointed at the smaller selection of English beer. They did have Speckled Hen on tap though which is one of my favorites. Food 4: Huge menu including the traditional English fare including Scotch Eggs, Pasties, Bangers and Mash, Shepherd's Pie, English Breakfast and more. Big selection of American salads, sandwiches and entrees also. Large menu of munchies for the bar crowd as well. They also offer many specials including Chicken Schnitzel (originally Austrian!). And as I mentioned earlier they serve Breakfast and afternoon tea every day. We had the sausage rolls, the Chicken Schnitzel, the Banger Sandwich and the Steak & Mushroom Pie. All come highly recommended. The fish and chips looked very good too, and I plan to try it the next time. The dessert list looked great also, but we were too full this time. The Last Word 3.75: Really needs a larger English Beer offering as an English Pub, and a more convenient parking arrangement to qualify for a 4! Stopped into Robin Hood for the first time in a long time to have a spot of lunch. The interior has been refreshed, giving the place a new-yet-lived-in feel that affords comfort and familiarity while feeling nice and clean. Barkeep Lydia was friendly and attentive, and took good care of me as well as all the customers at the bar. I ordered a favorite stand-by, the banger sandwich (which I helped push onto the menu when I first started coming here in the late 80's). As always, Robin Hood's bangers are first rate: packed with flavor, juicy without being fatty, and cooked to a perfect crisp on the outside. Paired with properly grilled onions and some hot English mustard, this is a sandwich to be savored and appreciated, and it's much better than similar sandos offered around town. The accompanying fries were crisp and enjoyable, but definitely from a freezer and less special than those at places very nearby. I also would prefer a bread/roll/bun option more bespoke and interesting than the generic "French roll" this sandwich is served on. Now, don't let my assorted "gee I wish" complaints deter you. Robin Hood is a great pub with plenty of satisfying food and beers on offer, and I can guarantee you'll have a fine time. Robin Hood is an iconic neighborhood pub that has adorned Sherman Oaks, Valley Village and Valley Glen for generations, actually back then it was all Van Nuys. The food is tasty nice English menu all your favorites done well. The crisp chips and their brown gravy make me smile. Great selection of beers, and warm friendly bar to meet old friends or make new. What a delight! Tonight marked the second time I had the pleasure of discovering this "unknown" gem, a place I've driven by at least a hundred times over the last 20 years, completely unaware of what I was missing. A good friend introduced me to it recently for lunch, and I instantly fell in love with it. Being European, the atmosphere and vibe made me feel right at home. Tonight, I brought my spouse along, who was eager to check it out too, and, unsurprisingly, he loved it as well. We were lucky enough to have Michelle take care of us--what a sweetheart! My spouse (shh, he may have cheated a little on his vegan diet--don't tell anyone) had the fish and chips he'd been craving. And boy, did he love it! I tasted the fish myself and, I must say, the quality is exceptional, and the breading is a perfect touch. I couldn't resist and ordered the same dish I had with my friend: liver and onions, with crispy bacon, peas, mashed potatoes, and a delicious gravy. I also added a side of potato salad. The liver was cooked perfectly, and since I love liver, the portion was generous. The bacon was wonderfully crispy, and the mashed potatoes were delicious, as were the peas. I requested lighter onions, as I'm not the biggest fan of fried ones, and they did it just right. The potato salad was fantastic--I'm very picky about it, but this one was truly one of the best I've tried. We dined in the quiet back room, which was a nice, peaceful spot. We managed to find a parking space behind the restaurant, though there's plenty of outdoor seating at the back as well. The front room has a long bar, smaller tables, booths, and a few TVs. However, I don't believe the order of 2 pieces of fish warrants the high price of this entree. In my opinion, totally not worth it. On top of the cost of the meal, the service was absolutely deplorable. With our server asking only once how everything was when she greeted another table. The bar was not crowded by any means, dining at 5:15-5:30 on a Monday night. And although they advertise happy hour until 7pm during the week, I have no clue what is actually included during this time as there is no menu/list of happy hour items and their prices. Had the best time there with 5 of my friends. The service was superb and the waitress was so nice and she had a great sense of humor. I am terrible with names but she is originally from Australia. The place is popular and can get busy but they have a pub side and restaurant side. Both are available. Parking can be tough. They have lots to choose from. I got their Cauliflower and Brussel Sprout Gratin with Pine Nuts it came with a side salad. It was good. It felt like a home cooked meal. My mom got the vegan Aussie Pie. It came with Beyond meat with vegan gravy in the pie with peas and mash. It looked really good. We also got a side of onion rings. They were tasty but not good value for the price. I ended my meal with a Spotted Dick, it's a sponge with raisins and flavored with ginger and cinnamon. It's served topped with a warm custard. It was really good and not too sweet. Okay, so the food is bomb, I mean, the fish n chips is the best I've have across the west coast. However.... If you have mean, rude, ugly (on the inside & outside) staff in your face with attitude-you're gonna lose your business. I have been eating quietly at this restaurant for over ten years. I say "quietly" because I've never complained or even been the person who ordered or bought it, it was just bought on my behalf. I know that fried food doesn't travel well. As a result, I've learned to ask for napkins & you punch holes in the top or leave it open so it doesn't get soggy. Last night, the crust was great-not soggy, but the inside was gooey & the fish undercooked. I worked in a seafood restaurant for over 5 years. I know uncooked cod. That was my complaint. I was even nice enough to call ahead so they would know bc it was close to the time when their kitchen closed. The woman who spoke to me was super rude; told me to come in later & when I let her know for the second time that I was there, she just told me to come in & hung up. I came in & some "woman" came right up to me & accused me of being a complainer, said that fried food doesn't travel well, etc. all these excuses- I wasn't even the one who picked up the food. It was a surprise by my bf who knows I like to eat their fish n chips. He had brought it the 1.2 miles back to where we were visiting & knows how to keep it crispy, that wasn't the problem. The crust was great! The inside was sticky, uncooked and partially raw. I was like fml. I don't like to complain and esp not at my favorite fish n chips place! This woman proceeds to tell me that I'm banned from ordering "to-go" & said & I quote... "your butt has to be here the next time you order from us!" Uhm, no? That wasn't my issue. I heard her say, "good enough" to the cooks before bringing me my food which I never ate bc "good enough" was frightening to me. What happened to it? It was the same fish, thrown back in the fryer? A little brekkie at this local English Pub is just the thing you never knew you needed! Robin Hood British Pub is a big and cozy restaurant located in Sherman Oaks, on the tip of Valley Glen off Woodman Avenue & Burbank Boulevard. It's encompassed by I like to call a slice of the international in Sherman Oaks with so many great places close by. If you're lucky enough you can nab a perfect spot in front along neighboring businesses such as Friar Tuck Shoppe (which they of course own), Pasticcino di Irucci aka Cafe Irucci, and Mission Wine & Spirits (my old spot for wine specializing) among a few others. There's street parking in most direction as well as a fair size shared parking lot in back, that does fill up later in the day, usually from lunch onward. You can enter from the front or back and will be seated once inside, however you can also grab a place at the bar as well. If you have a large group, reservations are available and they have a lot of room to accommodate. I think we sat near a party of what had to be 20+ people. It been a few years since I stopped in, but the menu has definitely flourish with even more vegetarian and vegan options than I remember. The Vegetarian English Breakfast was good.. I made some mods, easy enough and enjoyed some morning hour appropriate mimosas with friends. Their vegan aussie pie was literally on my mind and will be a must for next time, but I was pretty content with veggie morningstar sausage, grilled tomatoes, yummy home fries, toast and great company. Briana, our server was super friendly, efficient, cool and helpful. The kind of server you'd want to be friends with, outside the pub! It did pick up a bit and thus the wait times between some things got a little longer than anticipated, like refills, and additional items being brought out but once things settled a little the flow continued. We even had a super busser who came to clear things and follow up on refills once the morning rush simmered. The authentic feel and experience of this English Eatery is unmatched.... Afternoon tea from 2PM to 5PM daily, plus happy hour! They have some great specials, solid deals, not to mention options for most foodie restrictions or preferences. I do miss their veggie stuffed cabbage I ordered once for delivery during those years of extra delivery (2020/2021), but appreciate their ability to keep things fresh as well as classic. Service was good. They were attentive to make sure we got what we ordered. My fish was crispy and hot. Presented differently than from another Irish Pub that I've gone to. Paired with the great tartar sauce, it was perfect. I'd definitely go back for more. The fries were meh...a thicker fry would be great. Inside is what you'd expect. I went during lunch so it was pretty quiet but I know things get louder later by the cars that be parked there. Maybe next time I'll have their Shepherd's Pie. read more

What a great find. I always love a good English pub. This one is authentic and amazing. The staff is super friendly and always help. I had the fish and chips along with the zucchini app. The zucchini was breaded and amazing. The ranch is really good and homemade. The fish was coated and fried perfectly. The coleslaw was so good. We also had the french dip and it was so good. This is the real daal and I highly recommend stopping by. They also have a shop right next door w British treats that is also great. read more
