This is a shout out for the great customer service I received today at Robinsons Hardware & Rental in Framingham, MA. I've been going there for many years and the service is ALWAYS excellent. Everyone there is always friendly, approachable, helpful, patient in finding the solution big or small. They usually have what I need for home repairs, projects. I also love that it's easy in easy out. Today was no exception. Joe, the store Manager was super helpful and awesome to work with. Plus, he went above and beyond! The kind of excellent customer service you won't get in a big box "neighborhood" hardware store. My fix today was not hard, or expensive (happily) just tricky. I needed to replace a desk lamp socket. I brought the lamp with me. Inside the store I needed help finding a replacement that matched up correctly. Joe came over to help me and dropped what he was doing in the service area. He did it with a smile too. Because it was a tricky fitting he made sure it was going to work before I bought it and brought it home. Completely unexpected, he replaced the socket right there in the store, and tested it! My lamp is good as new! Easy Peezee! Give Robinsons a look if you haven't already. This is my go-to hometown hardware store. They have all of the basics (and then some), as well as some incredibly friendly and helpful staff. They have been servicing my lawnmower and snowblowers for years - the best part is they always take time out to educate me on some way to prevent unnecessary wear & tear or how to lengthen the life of the machines, WITHOUT making you feel like a moron. Staff have never pushed me to purchase a more expensive item when a less expensive one will do, unless (after asking several questions) they feel the more expensive one is best, & will take the time to explain why, without pressuring you to buy the more expensive one. Whenever I need my snowblower serviced, they work with me to pick up and drop off since I don't have the means to get it there without renting a truck from somewhere. I had my snowblower serviced elsewhere ONCE many years ago - NEVER AGAIN. I had to rent a truck to get it there, & again when it was finished, in addition to the cost of the service. Don't discount the smaller, more "mom & pop" feeling places, they might just be EXACTLY what you're looking for!! read more

I have found them very helpful and they take great effort to solve your problems over the last several years. An example - I needed a key for a Saturn and they didn't carry the blank. Within a week they ordered several so I was able to get my key and months later replacements for a lost key. I'm sure they didn't make any money on the keys but definitely high customer service points. I haven't been able to stump them yet. Any time I found something they didn't carry, they were eager to stock it or at least order it for me. They're like the old family hardware stores. It suprises you when you walk in and they remember your name. They are also very good at hiring and training local highschool kids. I don't know their secret (I can't seem to do it with my kids) but all of the kids working there are considerate, knowledgable, hardworking and eager to help. I'd like to get my kids hired there just for them to gain the great work ethic. read more

I can't say enough about this place. I've been in for so many needs and everyone is always so helpful. I've also been using them for years to have my snowblower serviced annually. But this year they really went above and beyond. As a 16 inch blizzard began, a shear pin broke on my snowblower, rendering it unusable. I'm a single mom with a five year old - and a really long driveway. In desperation, I called Robinson's. And they answered! Joe was able to determine the problem over the phone with me and in single-digit temperatures and white-out conditions, he got in his truck and was at my house 10 minutes later with shear pins in his pocket. He repaired the snowblower in my garage and I was back in business. A total lifesaver. Where else could you ever get service like that? read more

Everyone thinks you can get anything and everything at the Big Box stores and online. Getting one-to-one service though not to mention personal help and attention is the biggest thing lacking with the big boys. I've had a number of projects lately, all different, all needing creative thinking and solutions. And everyone at Robinsons has been helpful, friendly, and accomodating. The service is outstanding. The employees are like family and they treat the customers the same way. And if they don't have what I need, they find it and order it in. Best store in the area hands down! Helpful and knowledgeable staff, great selection, fair prices. They are my Stihl dealer of choice for purchases and parts. I love that they now have propane in addition to their vast rental service. They also have great hours so its convenient for that last minute project or quick buy on the way to and from work. They are also great on the phone to lookup prices, ask questions or check inventory. Pleasant, VERY experienced staff will either help find what you need or place an order to get most ANYTHING without the attitude. Between the Framingham or Hudson locations I find they are close enough for me to pick-up what I need. These people are genuine and have fulfilled most of my house(and friend's houses) repair needs over the past 29 and a half years..... I just bought at Robinsons a hepa-vac of better quality than EVERYONE else. Thanks for being my go to hardware store! read more

I was out of town when the $25 coupon for servicing my lawn mower from Robinsons newsletter expired. I called and spoke with Joe who said not to worry he would let me use it the following week when I returned. Problem solved! I wanted to avoid the rush to get it tuned up and have it ready for the season, and my mower was ready the next afternoon! These guys are the best. First of all they are ALWAYS well staffed!! When you walk in the door you are always greated and asked if you need help. From a key being made to a motor needing service to a small screw purchase they are always super helpful and friendly. It is a great experience and way more helpful than the giant hardware stores! The women there hired worked for Lincoln Discount 10 years ago. They were mean then and meaner now. They sit and smoke outside on break like Marge Simpsons sisters and give the place a bad rep. I avoid them like the plague. However everyone else bends over backwards to help. When they do a small service though it would be better customer service not to charge since I bought the supplies at their store. read more

I can't say enough about the service and kindness of the staff. Tom and Justin took time to deliver me propane last minute when I was about to run out, an hour before closing, and on the other side of Natick. They were friendly, professional and courteous, and with no feeling of it being a hassle. It's small town service at it's best. Highly recommend supporting this small business. read more
