Been a customer since 2010; after missing an annual inspection, I had them in a year ago and they pointed out a couple things they had to replace. When I brought vendors in before Thanksgiving this year to give estimates to replace my boiler, every rep paused and pointed out that my flue pipe was obviously cracked or corroded and crumbling in a number of places and, potentially, could be leaking CO, a hazard to my family. They also noted that this was a condition that would not have suddenly appeared in the past year -- which meant Robison's guy missed it when he did the annual maintenance. Indeed, after I'd contracted w/someone new to replace my boiler, the tech who came out from that company to do the pre-installation work was forced to red-tag the flue pipe (but, thankfully, replaced the flue pipe himself THAT DAY). I notified Robison about the issue with the flue pipe and sent them photos of it. Robison's representative called and apologized, took responsibility (saying he had checked the on-site maintenance report from the service visit in 2016 and found no mention of the flue). He offered me a free year of service if I'd stay a customer -- and then blew it w/ the company's slow response to a subsequent issue involving a frozen fuel line on the coldest day in a year. Also: They don't seem to turn on their phones before 9am but don't have an emergency answering service. read more

I have used them at two houses for over 5 years. I have dabbled with independent one off guys and I only ended up going back to Robison. You may pay a little more but they just do it right. There is no scam here. They give you quality feedback about your heating and air. The many techs they have simply know what they are doing. I have an air handler in attic, this one off guy wanted 3,500 to replace, I had Robison look at it they changed the air filter and that fixed it and they said it should last a few more years don't replace yet. It has been another year still working fine, true story. The service plan is the way to go. read more

I have a multi family house and use oil for heating. one night I got complaints about heat and found out the boiler didn't work. I called the company around 9:00 pm and plead for an emergency case. Worse than my previous company. They didnt fill the tank as they reported they did and charged me for. I know that cause a month later...which is tonight....New Years Eve......the furnace goes out and my tank is empty. Call the emergency line and he says he cant do anything till tomorrow. Great! So I somehow burned thru over 300 gallons in 30 days and after paying $300.00 for a service contract F me and too bad if my pipes freeze. They are not a real company by any standards. For several years I used Robison for heating oil. For EVERY delivery they are instructed to call first so that I can shut off the boiler. Conveniently this time the made a conscious decision to not call. 350 gallons of were delivered to a tank that was scheduled to be removed. They have created an environmental hazard. THIS COMPANY IS NOT RESPONSIBLE. Their office staff is instructed to block and tackle and - should you ever have a problem - you can forget about them owning up to it. My reviews of this company have always been positive. After 8 years, I am now feeling unhappy about the current customer service. I have ALWAYS used Greg to clean and otherwise service my boiler. He is excellent, respectful, knowledgeable and trustworthy. I am a senior citizen who would like to keep Greg as my service person. When I call to schedule service I meet with insensitive and seemingly non customer friendly people who tell me I CANNOT REQUEST Greg. I don't understand this. They have sent a few others on different occasions who DO NOT know my furnace nearly as well and often have little to say to you. I don't understand why a company as remarkably competent in most aspects of their service would be so insensitive to long term customers. read more

The firm is as screwed up as they get. They will send out bills under the heading " renewal" when we have never had a plan before. I cant even imagine how many people pay and never know what or why they have the plan. They come to service you A.C. and collect the service call fee and a week later you get a Bill in the mail for the same service. I had this company 15 years ago and now I remember why I stopped doing business with them I had a service call my wife told.me he checked the circuit breakers and turned them on for a cool service call$221. Had my preventative maintenance service today - technician was prompt, courteous and professional. I love the added safety feature of getting a text message beforehand with the technician's picture and contract information. Also, Robison is on top of the all the added healthy safety measures. Robison oil set us up with a new service contract after we purchased a home in April 2018. A technician initially came out to inspect the system and speak to us about oil levels, including times oil would be replaced. The primary focus was on the contract to provide oil and never was there any attention to service or maintenance of the heating system. After using the boiler for 9 months, without the system being routinely flushed, the boiler overheated and has subsequently busted. The entire system now needs to be replaced, with minimum estimates at 10k. Needless to say, we are very frustrated at being left without a working boiler in the middle of winter with near freezing temperatures coupled with the cost of replacing the boiler. David Singer and the entire team at Robison oil need to do better by their customers. Huge focus on customer acquisition, none on customer satisfaction. We were essentially treated as just another customer from whom money could be collected. When setting up a new service contract it should be assumed the owner knows nothing about heating systems. The same technician who initially comes out to explain oil levels and oil delivery schedules should also explain how the system works, including how it should be routinely maintained for optimal performance. The service we've received from Robison is completely unsatisfactory. The emphasis should be placed on truly servicing the customer and not on just the revenue to be collected from delivering oil. read more

Robison is generally fine but watch out if you have any sort of dispute. You'll constantly get, "A manager will call you back." No one ever calls. You will call back over and over yet nothing will ever get resolved. I expect to live in my house for at least 30 years. Robison could have had my business. Never again. read more

Robison oil is a company full of scam artists and cons. I am a first time homeowner and have entrusted robison for oil two years ago. The account manager Mike stated that in a 1200 foot home I should use 700 gallons of oil per year. This was a scam in order to overcharge a first time customer. Don't fall for it !!! After you burn through your 700 gallons which they give you at a settled rate they will sell you any overage for about 5$ a gallon because it was not procured for you haha and your already in the middle of winter when this happens. The customer service is horrible and the sales reps all have different info to sell you. Mike the account manager is condescending and he scams with the best of them. They contract you for a certain rate and offer no ceiling plan which means that I settled at a rate of $3.84 on March 2014 and payed $3.84 for oil on March 2015 even though oil at this time costs $2.90. Everyone else adjusts to oil prices not Robison, they want every last cent and they are going to need it because they should be out of business soon. We've been using Robison's services for 12 years now. The workers they send are knowledgeable and have the patience to explain any issues if you are willing to listen. We had a malfunction of our water tank a few years ago so we had only cold water (this was during winter) and a worker was dispatched right away to help us. They were able to fix it for us even though the problem was quite tricky. The office is very responsive to our calls. They even send you a photo of the worker dispatched to the house if you have a smartphone (maybe there are other ways to notify you too?). Anyway, the reason why we went with Robinson is that the previous owners of the house had used their service for about 15 years and they came highly recommended and yes, they are highly recommended by us as well. We used this service for many years originally with Tarricone oil. We prepaid many years and last year we were away and closed down the house. Since we didn't have deliveries while we were away, Robison arbitrarily closed our account. We prepaid $500.00 for the service and they will not service the unit or refund our money. Outstanding job by Robison. I highly recommend! I started with them last year to maintain & service my gas boiler and they have been so responsive & professional. Today I discovered a leaking vent valve & called their service # - their mechanic, Michael Rivera was here in less than an hour & was fantastic. He had the issue diagnosed, parts swapped & everything fixed within the hour. Made some recommendations for future mtce & took the time to answer my questions. Prompt, professional & courteous. Mary C November 6, 2014 Do not do business with Robison Oil. It has been over 6 weeks since I closed my account with Robinson. Despite numerous phone calls, speaking to supervisors, etc., the company will not return almost $400 that I am owed. Each time I call, I'm told it's being processed and that it can take up to 30 days to return the money to my credit card. It's now well over 30 days, but it is STILL not processed. Needless to say, whenever I got an oil delivery , my credit card was charged immediately. I am now forced to contact Visa and my attorney to see if they can get Robinson to refund MY money. This is NOT how customers deserve to be treated. This is the FIRST time I have ever written a negative review of a company! read more

As a newer home owner my husband and I did our due diligence, pricing out various companies before signing a contract for our oil/heating supplier. Here is what I have to say, Robinson will do what it requires to 'sell' you. They offer low first year rates, maintenance plans that seem to outweigh any other companies out there but in the end you will pay. Every single time they come to our house they recommend 'strongly' that we make updates, replace equipment, in general major overhauls that cost thousands. We have learned it's all crap. We finally smartened up and started to get second quotes. Example, Nor'easter 2018 our electricity went out for one day. With that out heat wouldn't turn on when the electricity came back on. Robison said we need to replace motor/blower an estimated $1,500 fix. Why, I asked (nothing was wrong before)? Their explanation was the outage likely burned it out. Next day, my husband had another non-Robison guy stop in. In less than 5 minutes our heat was on. Nothing was broken. We paid $100 for his time. So, again I give you this one example however it has happened frequently in different instances. The next day Robison sends this email to my husband: Dear Peter, Our service technician was sent to the above address on 03-8-18 and the following work was recommended: You need a motor and a board replaced. Please note, there is a 3-5 day lead time for the parts. Unfortunately, this is not covered under the service agreement. The price for materials is $1300.00, plus ground shipping is $60.00 or next day air is $100.00, plus labor @ $195.00 per hour (we estimate 2-4 hours), plus tax. If an assist is required, the labor will apply for each technician. Only items listed are covered under this proposal if, additional work is discovered, an additional cost may occur. Please note all parts and labor are guaranteed for one year. To authorize this repair, please complete the information below and send this letter back to us. We are hemorrhaging money on their service. We got our entire boiler system replaced less than a year and a half ago (by them, might I add). Didn't have more than a few house calls since then other than for a few service maintenance calls. But now it is the 4th time we have lost hot water and heat since November 2017. We have had to call them every 2 months and ever single time pay upwards of $600 dollars. Once, twice is fine. But 4 times since November is a pattern. We're hard working people and this feels like we're being ripped off and take advantage of. read more

I have been using Robison for about 16 years and have had no serious issues. They provide annual maintenance for my AC and furnace, and duct cleaning. During this time, I have only experienced two issues--one where a technician took 25 minutes to complete the job but changed the invoice to 35 minutes in order to charge me for an hour instead if 1/2 hour. The other was an AC technician who seemed to be in a hurry and didn't like that I asked questions so I couldn't tell what he was doing. Two days later, a problem with the AC occurred and the tech that was sent found that something was missed from the previous visit. Every other experience has been positive. They are prompt, they keep the work area clean. They explain what they are doing and overall do a great job. They do need to improve their process for renewing pricing contracts. Last year, I didn't get the pricing options for gas and my costs were about 35% higher than 2018. When I asked about this a month ago, I was told that I have to remember to call before the current contract expires to get new pricing options for gas and electric. They did send a new contract by email the next day. This be done automatically by Robison and not put the onus on the customer. read more

Robison has been very quick in getting technicians to our house each time we have an issue with our heat or hot water. The technician who came for our most recent issue took time to explain our system to me, which will help me know where the problem lies next time, as different people service the boiler and water part of the system and the hot air/HVAC unit. Since we moved to our new home two months ago, we have had to call for service for our very oil boiler half a dozen times. Each interaction was handled swiftly and with genuinely nice people. Specifically, Craig has come to service our oil boiler twice. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and respectful. While we hope we do not need to call again, we do know that Robison Oil will have our back when we need it. Buyer beware of hidden fees! Robison Oil charges a $3.95 delivery fee every time you get an oil delivery and an $8.95 service fee every time you have a service technician come to your house. Plus they also charge a $100 fee to select their cap pricing program. They won't tell you this up front and these fees are not included in the contract. The fees will just be added to your bills. Other oil companies do not charge these fees and their prices are competitive with Robison. read more
