My review comes a bit as a blast from the past, but here goes..Back when I wasn't so swift to the importance of oil changes, I did my own. Then, a bit further down the road, I became privy to the importance of BRANDS of oil. My first loyal trips to an oil change places, led me to the "Other Guys"...well two forgotten oil caps later...I started looking and found Cassidy's And I never looked back! They are conscientious (oil caps). I swear my first trip I was asked, Is Castrol OK with you sir? I hugged the guy, teared up a bit. Then, moved to Red Bluff. Where I pined away for Cassidy's again. AND THEY HAD ONE DOWN THERE! There is BAR NONE no old or newly opened shop that will ever get my business other than Cassidy's. You guys absolutely ROCK! Been going here 20 + yrs. It has definitely gone down hill. Not the 1st time after an oil change, I notice oil leaking. As I returned to see if they could fix it. They told me that it was coming from valve covers and stated that on my receipt. See receipt. I said to them no it doesn't state that on my receipt the young guy says "I looked at it and it does". back and forth he argued with me. Liar! Mysteriously after them looking at it the leak stopped. I went and had a smoke test as they recommended- nothing coming out of valves covers. read more

BEWARE Brought in Frontier for an oil change at the Lake Blvd station. Left after completion and drove about town as I normally do. I noticed after a few days that my oil pressure light comes on when coming to a complete stop or when idling. I thought maybe the oil sensor was acting up and needed replacement, then I heard my engine had a clicking sound which got progressively louder. I checked the oil level on the truck and there was no oil on the stick. I asked my wife to videotape my checking the oil on video, which she did. I brought the truck to Cassidy's and a lady named Nicole greeted me. I told her that there was no oil in the engine. Her first response was "oh you must have a leak." She brought the truck into the service bay and I believe that the owner "John" filled the oil into the engine. She brought the truck around and I wanted to check the dip stick. It was still below the required level, so John added it again. I told Nicole I was concerned about the noises from the engine and told her that I would have it checked out by an auto repair shop. I took the truck to Oliver's Sequoia Auto Repair &Towing at 6821 Eastside Rd. Redding, Ca 96001 530-921-4201. Will is the mechanic who checked the truck and discovered the drain plug loose, large amount of metal in the oil ( I have the sample and so does the shop), observed large amounts of bearing wear caused by low oil pressure. I went back to Cassidy's with the sample and copy of the receipt from the original oil change, but he refused to check the oil or admit that there was any problem at all. He became agitated and called me a liar when I mentioned taking him to court. He completely dismissed my efforts to make things right regarding the damage to my motor. I am not looking make trouble for anyone, but I cannot sit by and let someone not do the right thing after damaging my property because of neglect. I understand mistakes happen. I just hope that something can be done to fix the mistake. Sent a complaint to California Bureau of Automotive Repair. Hoping for help there. Just got our oil changed in our 25' class C motorhome and it was a great experience all around. Our RV is 12' tall, and had no problems fitting in. There are no reservations but we had only a 5 minute wait for the car ahead of us to finish. The team was very professional and friendly. Besides the oil change they checked our tires, transmission level, battery level and even filled the window washer fluid. Great value. Will be back and already told my friends about this place. Just this April 2024. my check engine light came on, took it to an auto shop found out that they overfilled my transmission fluid, third clutch pressure switch was replaced, for system fluid exchange, transmission pressure switch, auto transmission kit, automatic transmission of fluid. Cassidy's Auto Lube ( proprietor of business, John Cassidy). BEWARE! Let me tell you a story: My husband and I are decades long loyal customers of Cassidy's off of Hartnell. On 9/8/2021, the day before taking off on a long trip, I made a prudent decision to have the vehicle's Oil changed. On the first trip over, I was told his technician was at lunch. I returned at 3:30 and the job was done. Pre-dawn we left for Mammoth Lks. down I-5 and across 80. Coming down the pass into Carson City a "bing" ... I pull out the manual, and tell my husband it's the Oil light. We pull into Costco for gas and a "looksee" and stop across the street. Dipstick doesn't show Oil, maybe?. We are retired seniors, not mechanics. We do what seems best- around the block we find a Walmart Service Center. Standing nearby, the garage mechanic tells us that we have leaked out ALL the oil. With two and a half hours left on the trip, the service centers refills the Oil, we go on our way, believing we have missed a "bullet". We spend the couple days and head back to Redding. Almost back to Carson Valley the vehicle starts a "noise".. the fan belt maybe? We drive into Napa Service Center in Gardnerville, and they say "think it's in the engine". We are 12 miles from the Jeep/Chrysler dealer where we have an extended Warranty. Thinking back, I suppose we should have called AAA then, but we drove 3/4 way before the jeep gave up. Towed into Carson City Jeep dealer, late afternoon. No rental vehicles even with help from the great crew at the dealership. No loaners, distribution is a problem as we know at the moment. The short of it is, we purchase a nice 2019 vehicle leaving our "blown engine" vehicle as a very cheap trade in. It was a very long day!!! Hotel and paperwork the next day, we are again on our way home to Redding. I didn't beat around the bush, I went down to Cassidy's Auto Lube and explained what happened. I knew these accidents must happen. I expected them to have a "Claim form" for us to file. I knew we would have to compromise. Could we have done things differently, had we known the results or what was happening, probably... BUT instead of a business ethic, The mgr of Cassidy's off Hartnell, Norm, said John Cassidy basically would do nothing. " We couldn't prove it!" My husband and I have been, well, floored! There is no question, that at 74 years old, I want to start a life in scamming a good business- there is NO EXCUSE. I felt it was straight forward and truthful, there would be no question. I can swear on a bible.... No call back, no nothing from Mr. Cassidy, "he leaves it to me to deal with" "and if you take it to court, others have tried and failed". So, when you take your vehicle in and John Cassidy's shops provide the service- know that there is NOTHING behind that friendly face when the JOB IS DONE WRONG. They will deny YOU. read more

Doesn't get better than this people, these people are trained and not upsellers, if they think you need to replace something they will bring it out and show you or give you a heads up if it needs to be done in a time or two and around how much it will cost! We brought my Volvo in for an oil change. We were never told there was a huge upcharge for Volvo's until it was finished. Then after a few days, a Redding Police Officer told me my car was leaking oil. It was never leaking oil before. He found out the gasket was not changed out when the oil was changed. We purchased a new oil filter and remedied the problem. I called Cassidy's Auto Lube and I was told the owner would call me. The owner never called. We will never go there again. Though I am posting this now this happened weeks before we were asked to stay home due to COVID-19. read more

Went to get an oil change and the office lady said my car was ready and asked for the payment- before going over the work they perform. No big deal ok and then I asked how did things look and she said well we think there's and oil leak trany or maybe the oil pan... So I said how did everything else look, "fine" we added some washer fluid. So I'm just wishing at this point I went somewhere else. I hoped in the car and the low air icon is lite... Next time I'll go somewhere else that actually will go over the checks before they jump to payment. read more

Was excited to check Cassidys after all the good reviews. I called ahead of time & the woman seemed friendly on the phone. I was happy to support a family ownd business. I arrived & a masked man didn't even say hi & just told me the wait was going to be 45 minutes at least because there were only 2 workers. I noticed there were 3 cars in the garage & I was the 4th one. I sat in my car to wait & noticed that the man (& the woman) was talking to a guy outside of the garage who had this vintage car & was revving his engine. They appeared to be friends or at least friendly. He did not work on the cars while he talked to the vintage car owner. He did not seem to be in a hurry when he returned to work on the cars. I didn't mind as I was prepared to wait, although the reviews constantly praise them for being so fast. Finally when it was my car's turn, he went super fast & my car was done in less than 10 minutes, barely over 5. After my car was done there was one more and that car got done fast too. So despite them starting out slow, by the time they got to us, they were super speedy. The woman gave me the bill & told me what was checked. I asked her if he looked at my cabin air filter & she said, while they normally do check the cabin air filter, in this case they didn't because they had so many cars & to do so would take an extra 2 minutes. She literally said that. That it would take an extra couple of minutes. (Note that he took more than an extra couple of minutes shooting the breeze w/the vintage car owner.) She then told me to come back another time when it wasn't busy & they will check it for me. No apologies or no asking me if it was okay if they did not thoroughly check my car as they normally do. ( She wasn't too friendly at first either until I made the effort to engage w/her. She WAS friendly with the other customers before me. I was the only brown one). I was disappointed because I pay the extra money for them to check all the things that need to be checked otherwise I would just let a friend change the oil for me. I was also disappointed because they didnt advise me beforehand that they would be cutting corners w/me. I guess they thought I wouldnt notice. I used to use Oilchangers all the time & I KNOW they ALWAYS check everything for me, were super friendly and helpful in telling me about things that may need replacing. However the oilchangers that I used to go to was shut down during the last 2 years so I have been forced to go elsewhere. I went outside & checked the cabin air filter myself. Unlike the couple of extra minutes it would have taken him, it took me an extra 10 minutes because I had to look up how to do it on Youtube & I did it under the hot sun. The cabin air filter was filthy so I took it back into the office to get their opinion to see if it needed changing right away. I noticed when I came back into the office that they had closed the gates to the garage & were on break. While I recognize they have a right to a break, I was annoyed because the woman said they had no time because they had many cars NOT because they were going to close up for a break. I would have understood that & wish they did not mischaracterize it that way (aka lied). There was only one other car after me & that's when they closed up. Realizing that I had checked my own filter, she went to see if they had another one. The man came in when he saw me enter; they seemed surprised that I re-entered and didn't even apologize for cutting corners with me either. She explained that I needed a new filter & then realized that they did not have any. She called another Cassidy's & they didnt have one either. I thought they were just going to give me a filter because they didnt do a complete check on my car despite the fact that they advertise that they do a "full service 14 point check." Only after I softly insisted, did she call the third cassidy's & they had one. When she hung up she told me that I could pay for it there. I asked how much it was, she said she didn't know about $34. I asked whether that was more expensive than an auto parts store. She said she didnt know but that they charge extra because they have to install it. HUH? I'm the one who dismantled my glove box and checked and took out the filter to show them. THEY are going to charge me for installation after I had to do all the work myself? After I had to ASK THEM to check it for me even though a air cabin filter check is supposed to be included (& has been included in every oil change I have ever gotten). I was so disappointed at the lack of professionalism, the negligence, cutting corners and DISHONESTY to their clients. I definitely did not get my money's worth & will never go there again unless they give me a refund. After leaving Cassidy's, I went to Autozone, got it for $20 & installed it myself. I support local business and these guys are so helpful and you feel like you are getting real customer service and not just another customer. They will make you aware of anything they find during the oil job and if it's minor, they will check it out or tell you to bring it back. They replaced my windshield wipers and then offset the cost gave me the $5 coupon. Very relaxing & warm place to wait while your oil being changed.
