The customer service in this store is appalling. Some of the people who work there seem to lack the most basic knowledge about their business operations and policies. They also have surprisingly poor people skills in general and really bad customer service skills in particular, especially for a store that sells such expensive and upscale merchandise. The manager, a woman with dark, short hair whose name I didn't get is the worst of them all. She seems to have no idea how to talk to people. Sometimes you walk into a store just to look and end up buying something because the people who work there are so good at their job. The opposite is true in this store: you go in wanting to buy something and you end up leaving because the people who work there are so off-putting. When I went there this past weekend they did a bait-and-switch on me and refused to let me use a $500 gift card they had emailed me because they said it required a $2,000 minimum purchase and I wanted to buy a lamp that was $1,850. The gift card did not mention the minimum purchase restriction with the rest of the information on it, but when I was in the store they pointed at the end of the email where this information was buried in the terms and conditions and written in the smallest, faintest, light grey font that was almost impossible to read. The couches are beautiful, but after I spent 20k on one , and it fell apart in a matter of months, I was informed by LORRAINE the manager that "these couches are for decoration and not for sitting on" so if you want a couch to just look at... go for it. Otherwise STAY AWAY AT ALL UPDATE!!! I was asked to contact them via email to sort this out. This was nothing but LIP SERVICE !!!! Nobody has ever responded to me in over two weeks. So, you can add lying to my list of grievances with this company!! read more

Unfortunately, this company provides the worst customer service imaginable. We spent over 20k on an order and had one of the rugs we purchased professionally cleaned at a high end cleaner who uses specific products for fine rugs that doesn't contain bleach. Still, the blue color in the rug that wasn't set properly (by roche bobois) bled throughout the entire rug and they refused to take responsibility, ultimately placing the blame on the cleaning company. Roche Bobois provides very clear recommendations for cleaning procedures on their site, and we followed all the rules. They said we should've called because they recommend exact cleaning companies verbally, but not on their site. They did not resolve this issue- instead the Roche Bobois representative offered a discount on future purchases so we would spend more money at their store. I went to RB to inquire about the bubble 2 sofa. When I entered into the store I was not greeted by anyone and a Caucasian couple came in after me and they were greeted with excitement by one of the sales associates. So I decided just to focus on why I came to the store and that was to see the difference between the three seater and the five seater in the sofa. I looked around also to see if there was anything that would capture my interest. The entire time I was ignored when inquiring about other pieces in the store and so I left and definitely will never return. I don't understand how someone who is at work especially in retail has the audacity to ask pretentious when I the customer is coming in to spend my money. I can afford to buy whatever I like but I guess maybe a black woman leads to assumption that I cannot afford to buy "expensive items". What I would never do is spend my money to be disrespected, neglected, and demeaned especially because of the color of my skin! read more

Nice selection of leather furniture. Very modern, sophisticated and comfy. Liked that they had sofas that reclined as well. Loved the mechanized ones with the remotes. Also loved the artsy coffee tables. One caught my eye made of metal that resemble a tree trunk. A bit pricey but you're paying for quality and customization. They tailor your furniture with the materials and sizing you want. Expect to spend well over $10k for a sofa. Takes some time for your furniture to be ready. Roughly 4-5 months so you'll need to plan ahead. Great warranty though. About 10 years. Higher than most places that offer 5 years. Wish they had a little more options for couches and bed frames. read more

This has been the worse experience in sofa shopping! We ordered a SNOW WHITE bubble sofa which we were so excited about and were ok to wait 6 MONTHS for however after all that time we received OFF WHITE bubble sofa instead!!! The worse is what happened after we tried to fix this problem. We do understand the difference between off white and white, and the furniture we got is not Snow white as it was represented to us at the time of our purchase and it is obviously off white. The order was written in a way that the furniture was identified in french language which we do not understand. We 100% relied on Karla's representation and the cut sheet she handed to us which clearly indicates the color will be "Snow white" in English language. We did not get what we ordered and paid for not to mention long six months wait. We did go to the warehouse hoping that we can find a contrasting color that may be used in our place. This was a huge compromise on our part despite our desire to have white furniture. What we found in the warehouse were left over, isolated bits and pieces of extreme sharp colors which non of them was a matching sets. And since then we have not hear back from them so we were left with the off white sofa which does not go anywhere and we spent all that money and time on nothing ! Horrible experience! read more

Buyer Beware! Once you have ordered any request for info on fabric stain pretreatment, where your furniture is in transit, or whether it is on schedule will be met with disdain. And I'm talking good weather pre coronavirus! French charm is replaced by blunt uncaring pronouncements alternating with fantastic stories that defy credulity. Too late I found out they are merely vendors for much of what they sell & the item they promised in 4- 5 months and delivered in 7 was available in 4 months from another vendor. Only when I asked gently about progress at the 4 month point did I hear from Paula that they never check until it's overdue. Lorraine, the manager , tried so aggressively to sell me another piece of furniture when I came in to sign the contract for my second purchase that the designer she was replacing told her with a smile "She already has furniture." Despite my polite inquiry, neither Paula nor Lorraine ever told me there was a problem with the rug until after it was not there. Lorraine blamed the designer she supervised and took over for even tho she knew he was leaving long before I did . She came up with fantastical stories that he hadn't properly ordered even tho until it was late she and her assistant both claimed it was "on track." So buyer beware, they clearly do not check on the progress of made to order items. Seven months later and she announces "You can't use 100% viscose in a dining room" and blames the departed designer for choosing it even tho she was right there in person to take over when it was ordered! this after proclaiming she didn't know anything about the material of the rug she sells, saying 'I am not a rug specialist" & failing to find a rug specialist one in all of Roche Bobois or Serge LeSage, the company they buy the rug from. Lorraine has refused after months to give me the name or contact info of her superior who she says she gave my info to but who has never contacted me. Roche Bobois headquarters does not respond to customer service requests on its website If you love this furniture as I do, go to the Costa Mesa store where you'll find trustworthy expertise. read more

When you visit Roche Bobois ask for Lorraine Nazareth. I ordered a custom sofa from her back in May. It takes a long time (about 4 months) but the results are superb. My sofa was delivered earlier this week and it arrived in perfect condition, exactly as ordered. Throughout the process Lorraine was helpful and accommodating. She answered all of my questions and offered some great design recommendations that steered me in the right direction. From my first phone inquiry, a congenial, thoughtful & knowledgable designer patiently worked with me to choose the MahJong of my fantasies, coordinate it with furniture I already had, and select gorgeous complementary rugs. It's refreshing to meet a sales associate who is so familiar with an almost infinite number of choices, patterns, and sizes, has definite opinions , and will not sell you anything he does not believe will work in your space. Your typical furniture sales associate/manager may be knowledgable about the limited number of pieces their store stocks . Oualid is able to visualize, render and integrate myriad possibilities and choices. Far from upselling, he kindly mentioned the relative cost of various fabrics as a consideration and encouraged me to wait until I got the MahJong to decide on other furniture. read more

After 12 years of saving money and dreaming of it, my wife and I have been finally able to affor to buy the sofa of our dreams: Mah Jong by Roche Bobois. It's kinda funny we're italians and we actually bought it when we moved to LA, but anyway. We worked with a designer for helping with sizes, colors (and discount :) ) and the experience with her and at the store has been very nice, Lorraine Nazareth helped us through the process. She was very nice and opened the store on a day it was closed, we were alone in the store and had all the time we needed and wanted. Nazareth was very helpful even though we knew what we wanted, but still she gave us very good advices not to spend too much on an already expensive piece. It has taken us 5 months to get the sofa (from Italy...) but it was delivered by a third party that was also very professional. We're so happy with the couch. Things you should consider are 1) it takes time to have the sofa but it's handmade and totally worth it (it's not ikea guys!!!!), 2) delivery is paid on top which i would have not hoped once yoi spend so much for the sofa itself, i would have imagined it was included, stupid me i should have asked and negotiated down... 3) price is a factor. Agree with another review , How does this shop stay in Business the quality even though its from France and Italy is poor and does not hold up to normal use. The leather seams fall apart the leather cracks and the color rubs off. I first stopped into the IN-EX shop on wilshire and the owner asked what other brands I was looking at I said Roche Boibois he basically frowned and said you're making a mistake. Roche Boibois is not considered quality high end furniture that has the respect of lux high end Italian companies or designers. I ended up buying a bed and table from B&B italia . My husband and I went to Roche because we bought a new modern house and needed all new furniture. We needed lots of help picking out everything over a period of months. WE met a designer at Roche named Ross Vincent. He was fabulous and so patient with us. He even came out to our house in Malibu to help us with our spaces and colors. We ended up doing a couple of rooms with him. To top everything off he got us some loaner furniture while we wait for our furniture to come. I purchased a sofa from Roche Bobois. It was delivered like a piece of junk, scratched legs and missing leg pads. They stated that it was a floor model so there was nothing they could do!!
