It is enticing, the prices are low, the furniture seemingly well designed, but when I got the sofa delivered it was far less comfortable than the one in the showroom, which was perhaps more broken in. At any rate, if you return anything here they charge you a 20% restocking fee ( for what??? We returned it instantly) and you pay for shipping to and from . By the end of it it is almost 50% the price of the shitty item. Don't expect them to be helpful in any way about it either. We asked a salesperson if there is any discount on a piece of furniture, and he said he could give us 20%. Considering its black friday and the comparable price at other stores in the area, we asked if there is room for more discount. Instead of just declining, which I would understand and respected, he said that the actual price is now few hundred dollars HIGHER than the ticket price. Really??? Are we buying furniture or stock here? I am blown away by the low class tactic this person decides to use on consumers. I've bought a bunch of furniture from Scandinavian Designs in the past when I was living up in the bay area, and now that I have bought a house was looking forward to getting a bunch more, but I have had such a frustrating experience with these folks this month that I could never bring myself to work with them again. I ordered a little end table a month ago to get delievered to their store, and was told it would be ready for pickup in a week. For the next month every week I would hear nothing about it then call them up to ask them about it and get told it had been delayed but would definitely be in the next week. Looking over my phone I have at least 7 phone calls to this place asking about this thing, as there seems to be no online way to get information - all the time I have had to spend bugging people on the phone is the most frustrating part of all this. A couple days ago after yet another delay I gave up and asked for a refund, as they charged me for all this a month ago when this process started. This is supposedly done but I don't yet have my money back - asking people in the store I'm told either they are mailing me a check, or the money will go back to my credit card but it will take a week. Not sure what to believe if anything. I'm really annoyed by all this as I have been quite satisfied with all the furniture I have bought from this company, but something seems to have gone extremely wrong with their ordering process. read more

You shouldn't order from this company unless you have no other options. They charge for services they don't provide and won't refund the money you pay for assembly and delivery even if they deliver a damaged item to you and you end up having to spend a lot of extra time and energy getting the item replaced yourself. You'll get much better service and quality from online retailers like Wayfair and Amazon. I'm Scandinavian myself and I'm very disappointed to find out this company doesn't act in a Scandinavian manner at all. Their handling of my transaction as they did definitely wouldn't be legal in the EU and I'm not sure they are in the US either. This is what I experienced: I made an pre-order for a product they said wouldn't be in stock for a few months and I was fully charged almost $1000 for it (including $150 for "deluxe delivery) very quickly. This was surprising to me as most companies I've dealt with don't charge for items until they are in stock and on their way to the customer (that's true for Wayfair, Nordic Nest, Best Buy, Amazon and many others). Another surprise came the next day when I got a call saying they had my item in stock and we should schedule delivery. I asked to double-check because I was told this item was not in stock just the day before. After multiple times being put on hold and multiple times on the phone with them over the next few days, they confirmed they made a mistake and the item they had mistakenly called about was damaged and shouldn't be delivered. 10 days later, I got another call saying now the item is in stock and we should schedule delivery. I was suspicious now since this was still earlier than I was told it would be available, but they reassured me this was not a damaged item, so I scheduled delivery for the first Saturday they had an availability. On the delivery day, I was given a delivery window during dinner time on Saturday night. I wasn't thrilled to have to give up Saturday dinner plans, but I didn't complain about that. When they arrived and put the item together, the delivery guys seemed very anxious to leave and one of the guys held out a piece of paper for me to sign while the other guy held the door to my home open for quick departure. I felt a need to inspect the item before I sign anything, but it felt very uncomfortable while the guy was pushing the paper in front of me with a pen to sign. I did take a look at the top part I could see from a standing position, but didn't get down to crawl around on the floor to look at all of it. I had assumed these guys were just anxious to leave so they could have a reasonable dinner break, but now I know different. A few days later when I went to put items on a shelf, I realized it had a huge gash in the top/glossy part of it which they had inserted so it was facing the wall and harder to see if you are standing up. This was unacceptable to me as I had paid for a new item with "deluxe" delivery that was supposed to include professional assembly. Anyone coming in contact with this shelf plate would have noticed this damage and what must have happened was a number of people were hoping I wouldn't notice or wouldn't bother to complain. I subsequently reached out to Scandinavian Design's customer service and was told someone from the warehouse would reach out to me to fix the problem. 3 days later I got a call about scheduling another Saturday where I could sit at home and wait for them to come and replace the damaged part. I was upset at the idea of reserving another Saturday for this when it wasn't my fault they did it wrong in the first place. I mentioned that I would be okay to devote more of my time to fix their mistake, but I'd expect to get some money back for my troubles and at the very least, they should refund the $150 + tax I paid for "deluxe" delivery. I was told this isn't something they can do and they don't do refunds as a company policy. After multiple times reaching out to them in writing and by phone, including speaking with a manager, I finally got one person to agree to refund $50 (perhaps out of his own pocket since the company doesn't allow it), but this was over 2 weeks ago and I still haven't received anything back. I've called to follow up and I've been told it will appear in a few business days, but that was over a week ago. I don't think I'll ever see any refund. They just hope I'll go away so they can move on to mistreating and defrauding other customers. It is illegal in the EU to charge customers for something they don't provide, and I thought it was in the US as well, but maybe there's a loophole in the US I'm not aware of. Regardless, I don't understand how they can have a company policy that doesn't allow refunds when they make mistakes. I've never heard of anything like that and I feel personally offended that this company uses the word "Scandinavian". Scandinavian countries should sue them for defamation and misappropriation due to the way they behave under that moniker. read more

When we did so we indicated clearly that we can take delivery any time before 1pm six days per week and all day Monday. That's a lot of options, right? Well, we eventually received a text from the third-party delivery company that they would deliver between 2:30 and 5:30 on a Wednesday. Obviously our instructions were ignored. We work restaurant jobs in the afternoons / evenings. Calling out of work just to receive a delivery effectively doubles the price of this piece of furniture. The delivery company refused to budge, saying that I had to take delivery when they dictated or I would be charged an extra fee and still receive no guarantee that my instructions would be followed the second time around. I called the store in Culver City, mistakenly thinking that someone there would be willing and able to talk sense into the delivery people. Not so. The manager I was transferred to was just as stubborn and unhelpful as the delivery company. All he did, really, was reiterate their terms in a futile attempt to convince me they were reasonable. We gave Scandinavian Designs six half days and one whole day to work with and they refused outright to deliver within those very wide parameters. read more

This business is a total scam! The ONLY good thing going for this business is one of the Sales guys named Israel! Israel is professional and one of the best sales people I have ever interacted with. The rest of this business is straight up fraud! I spent close to $13,000 on a couch and chair from this business. Firstly I had to wait over 8 months for delivery because the couch and chair are made in Norway and the supply chain was blocked up due to covid. This was no fault of this business but what happened after was a total shocker! After, I got the couch and chair, I noticed that within a month of use the seats became very uncomfortable. I reported this and they sent their guy to check it out and he found that the seats were actually defective. They then placed an order for new seat cushions which took over 8 weeks to deliver and I had to make several calls to the business to get dates of delivery. No one even bothered to follow up for weeks. Finally, after they got the new seats, they sent their guy to install them. When the guy came to install them, I found out that they had new cushions for the couch seats only and not for the chair. To add insult to injury, I also found out that the switches in the seats (used for reclining) were not correct! They then placed another order to get the right switches and went back and forth with their vendor about who would pay for the cushion of defective chair. They finally placed an order to get the cushion for chair. It took another 8 weeks and I got no updates from the business. I had to follow up via several phone calls to get updates on the cushion and switches. In the mean time I realized that the new cushions that they had replaced also started turning hard and became very uncomfortable to sit in and I started having back pain! They then sent their guy again to check out the seats again and he agreed that the cushions were defective! At this point in time, it had been months of back and forth with this business and I told them that I expect much better quality of product and service for furniture that costs $13,000! This is when management (more on them below) showed their true colors. They started saying that the seats were not defective but it was my individual comfort level that was not matching up to the seats!! There are 3 issues with this argument: a) Why would they replace the cushions the first time if it was a comfort miss-match and not quality of cushions? b) The guy they sent to inspect the couch told me that the seats were defective. c) The specific couch I bought is a brand called Stressless. This brand claims to be the only brand of furniture that is certified by the American Chiropractic Association. I am in good health and I am close to the average body out there. I also have no ailments especially with my lower back. It is hard to believe that a brand that claims to be certified by the American Chiropractic Association actually causes back pain and management calls it a comfort level miss-match!!! Management told me that they will deduct over $2K to return the couch which was defective to begin with! And not to mention the several months of me not getting the product I paid for at the beginning! Now to their management........Fin is the senior manager at this store. And while he (unlike Greg...the store manager) is professional and courteous, he did not resolve the matter properly. He should have returned 100% of what I paid especially when they gave me a defective product and made me wait over a year with all the delivery and back and forth! Now, let's talk about the diamond in the rough minus the diamond! The store manager is a guy with the name Greg. If you think that you have dealt with some very bad snake oil salesman before then...Sir/Ma'am....you haven't seen much yet! A single interaction with Greg will cause 2 things to happen: a) Will cause your stomach to churn! I mean the "politeness" and (un)professionalism is just at another level. A level that mere mortals such as you and I can never get to! b) You will realize that all the used car salesmen are not that bad at all! This place used to very well run long ago and I have been an old customer of theirs but I guess all good things (like this review) must come to an end. Stay away from this business! read more

Sofa shopping is exhausting! Especially when you like several sofas and you don't know which one to pick. We had been shopping for a new sofa for weeks and checked out several different spots, but we didn't like any of the choices at the furniture stores in our neighborhood. Long story short, we finally pulled the trigger here at a store that was almost 40 miles from our house. Honestly, I can't even remember how we found ourselves here. I think my fiancé saw something on Instagram or something haha! Israel helped us out and explained how the cushions in the sofa are constructed, and we worked out a nice deal including delivery. He was helpful, patient, and very kind in finding us any extra discounts and updating us on delivery status. Sofa even came in a few weeks earlier than originally told at the store, so that was a nice surprise. Delivery was smooth and easy and the team was nice and courteous. I will say though the cushions felt much firmer when we got it compared to the one in the store. It actually made me nervous that we made the wrong choice because of how stiff it felt. My review was more about the delivery. We ordered three office desks back in June to have to scheduled July 21 for delivery at our house. However, only 2 out of 3 desks were delivered because the delivery guys forgot to pick up the 3rd desk from the warehouse. How can you mess this up??? The worst part was the guy promised to deliver the missing desk today, only to find out that they only deliver Tuesdays and Thursdays in our area. Called the Sales team and the sales rep who helped us scheduled the delivery the following week. Now, I have to wait another week and didn't make any effort to prioritize or expedite delivery? I can't wait even reached out to the upper management team because they're unavailable? I find that hard to believe. Cannot afford to take another time off because of the mess they made. Hands down one of the best furniture stores I have visited. Their showroom is expansive and great choices among many styles and rooms. This store can serve both your interior and exterior furniture needs. The two salesmen that have helped us have been terrific. Very knowledge, informative and patient. Bottom line this store has great stuff and I like a lot of the products here. Now the negatives. The furniture pieces and accessories are not inexpensive here and while I understand quality they don't really negotiate or price match at all. Additionally, when I approached them with the possibility of a discount since my potential purchase could be material since this would be for multiple rooms they would not wiggle in the slightest. We had been to every large furniture store, and nothing seemed to be the right fit for a new couch. I was looking for a white modular sectional or mustard yellow. The GF suggested a red couch. I laughed it off. We saw Scandinavian Designs on yelp, and passed by it, physically. I said it looked out of my price range, and GF encouraged me to give it a shot. The lay out of the store is nice, not overwhelming, and theres a healthy amount of solid, interesting pieces in great materials in the world of couches. I didn't take too much of a peak at the other furniture in depth. We were assisted by Greg. Greg got a sentence into speaking, and I knew he was going to not waste our time, and that he was actually a listener. He made great suggestions, was direct, gave space and attention. Very kind and personable human. We were walking out, and we called back to thank him for his assistance....and there it was. The greatest modular 2 piece red-orange sectional. Specifically called: "Tysse 2-Piece Sectional". And on sale! It wasn't the color i was looking for, or the set up, entirely, but i wanted to look at it and sit on it forever. The dang GF was right...red, but like...sort of red. lol. Greg reasonably mentioned to consider my back with a low couch (so far so good, almost 2 weeks), but good lookin out! older me appreciates you! After leaving I kept searching and nothing compared. I made the decision. Called, after 4th of July, and it was out of stock, AND the price had went down even further. I thought i missed THEE best deal. GF got on the phone, spoke with Greg and got a the floor model on hold! BEST news is the price went down some more, and I am currently sitting on the coolest couch I never thought I'd own! My boyfriend and I ordered a chair from Scandinavian Designs. We got a call that our order was ready for pickup at their store. They asked us to come right away saying it was not busy. We drove down to get the chair and it is not assembled. The guy in the warehouse said he was not expecting us and either we had to assemble the furniture ourselves or wait for him to assemble the chair. The guy who assembled the chair for us was nice but the miscommunication was from the lady who called us asking us to come pick it up ASAP when it was not ready.
