First off, parking for The Fairmont is $10 for self-parking or $56 for valet parking. While the valet parking fee is quite hefty, the valet attendant did let us know in advance of both options. I opted for valet because I would have either had to backup or drive around the block to self-park and, well, why not treat ourselves further on this festive day while we were all dressed up soooo we did valet parking. Then, the hotel lobby was emaculate and festively decorated for Christmas with a tree, Santa's mailbox, and garland adorning the stairs. We made our way upstairs to the grand ballroom with assistance by pleasant hotel staff. There was another Christmas tree there. The ballroom was large, tables with tablecloths were set about the room, and there was a pianist and cellist playing. Service was buffet-style with staff assisting us with what was what. There was a meat station with turkey, ham, and prime rib, salad and soup station with butternut squash soup and French onion soup, a station with sides including Brussels sprouts, glazed carrots, yams, potatoes, green bean casserole, dressing, etc., a coffee station, and a dessert station with bourbon pecan pie, pumpkin pie, blueberry cobbler (star of the show), and more. Everything was delicious, staff was excellent. Two notes to elevate the experience: 1) next time setting up tables for two, staff could set it up so that guests don't have to straddle the table legs 2) for the price of $75, ya gotta have cocktail shrimp Would i do it again? Looked old and dingy as soon as I got in, but whatever, nothing is going to be perfect. I unpacked my stuff, and then started noticing how disgusting it was. There were crushed up chips and pretzels on the carpet by the bed, a thick layer of dusty grime on the baseboards of the entire room, and in the bathroom there were brown splatter marks on the wall by the toilet... As well as the same thick layer of dusty grime. Until I saw that, I was just gonna let it slide, thinking maybe I'm being too picky, it's not that big a deal, blah blah blah. But the bathroom made it definitely a no go. The front desk moved me to a different room, which was on a higher floor and newer, more updated, and cleaner. But still- the layer of dusty grime on the baseboards was in the bathroom. I remember having that in my apartment in college, when I was 19 and did not clean for weeks at a time. It's an easy fix, literally a wipe with a wet rag. This is not high-end hotel vibes. The next day I pretty much stayed in my room, went to the spa which was nice, and walked around the city. I am a very tidy hotel guest, so did not need house keeping service. On the third day, the room attendant knocked on the door right as I was leaving to go to the spa- perfect timing. I tipped them $10, and went about my business. And still nothing was actually cleaned- they replenished the towels, made the bed; but dirty grime still cooking on the baseboards. I noticed that evening that they did not refill the coffee/tea bar. On my way out to go to a show at 6 PM, I asked the front desk if they could replenish the coffee bar. Upon return, there was a tray on top of the coffee bar with three coffee mugs, and six coffee pods. But they did not replenish the coffee bar- no creamer, no sweetener, no tea. I went to the front desk again at 9:30 PM and asked if I could have some tea, creamer, sweetener. They said that they would send it up. Nothing was sent up. At 11pm I was exhausted and ready for bed, so went down to the front desk again, to ask AGAIN about the coffee things. I'm like what do I need to do to get the coffee things, please. The front desk attendant said that they would send it up to the room and my head spun in about four circles around my neck and I was like I would really rather wait here and get them myself. I waited for them to hand them to me because I did not trust they would get there. They handed them to me, I went up to my room, I now have the coffee things for the morning. I love nothing more than staying in a high-end hotel. Fairmont Pittsburgh is not that.

We were a little early for check-in and everyone was so welcoming while we waited. We stayed in a standard queen bed room, which had a fireplace and large closet and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean. We were there for a wedding and the venue coordinator, Zach, did a great job with making sure everything was set up. There was another party going on the evening we stayed the night and you could hear it clearly from our room. Thin walls and floors is the downside of staying in a historical building.

I stayed in one of the king bed rooms the night before a wedding and it was a wonderful experience. The room got a little cold at night, so we decided to sleep with the fireplace on. The fireplace in the hotel room was a nice, cozy touch. If you are handicapped, or have trouble with stairs, definitely let the hotel staff know. There is one elevator in the building that only goes to level 2. The venue coordinator for the wedding was also fantastic to work with!

When we pulled up to the hotel, we parked in an area that the front desk later confirmed was not valet parking and that we were fully permitted to use. Despite this, a man wearing a plain black shirt with no name tag, hotel logo, or other identification immediately approached us and aggressively demanded, "You need to give me your keys now." He never introduced himself, never identified himself as a hotel employee or valet attendant, and never welcomed us to the hotel. Instead, he immediately became confrontational. When I explained that I was not comfortable handing my vehicle keys to an unidentified stranger, he escalated the situation by repeatedly yelling, "Bro, bro, you're not going to disrespect me." We attempted to walk away and continue with check-in, but the harassment did not stop. After checking in, we returned outside to unload our luggage, and he immediately confronted us again. This time, he threatened that if I did not hand over my keys, "there would be consequences." No guest should ever be threatened simply for asking reasonable questions or wanting to verify the identity of someone requesting possession of their vehicle. The front desk staff later confirmed that we had parked in the correct location and acknowledged that this employee's behavior was inappropriate. While I appreciated their honesty, that did not change what had already occurred or the fact that the individual continued to work the front entrance. Unfortunately, the situation only worsened throughout the remainder of our stay. Every time we entered or exited the hotel, this valet employee continued making comments about my group to his coworkers. He would smirk, laugh, and make remarks within earshot of us, often in front of the front desk staff. Rather than feeling welcomed as paying guests, we felt uncomfortable and uneasy every time we walked through the lobby. The hostility that began upon our arrival never truly ended. As an IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite member who spends more than 200 nights each year almost exclusively at IHG properties, I have always chosen IHG because of the professionalism, hospitality, and consistency I have experienced across its brands. Unfortunately, this stay was unlike anything I have ever encountered. In all my years of traveling, I have never felt so disrespected, singled out, isolated, or unwelcome at a hotel. IHG promotes its hotels as places where every guest should feel safe, respected, and valued. That was not my experience at this property. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, I felt that our concerns were dismissed, and the behavior of this employee created an environment where we no longer felt comfortable. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. It has caused me to seriously reconsider my loyalty to IHG after spending hundreds of nights each year with the brand. I hope hotel management and IHG Corporate conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, address the conduct of the employee involved, and ensure that no future guest has to experience the same treatment we did.

The rooms were delightfully decorated from Cedarwood with rustic flavor to Serenity with the hot tub. Lovely environment at this country inn with flowers, pond and chickens for fresh farm eggs! How can you get farm fresh if chickens don't live there! Delicious breakfast!

"A SLICE OF HEAVEN"…read more The buildings are perfectly maintained on the outside and pristine inside. The flowers are so attractive I wanted to smell each one to see if they were real. We stayed in the Studio Lodge. It was spacious with a full kitchen and separate bedroom. An assortment of snacks and drinks were provided. Breakfast was a feast - French toast, eggs, bacon, muffins, fresh fruit and coffee. Pat & Tom are charming and easy to talk with. Whoever visits the CVE B&B is very fortunate. May God bless.
