We came in for lunch after attending a car show in Duluth. The sign said Hibachi in conjunction with sushi so we ventured in sun drenched from the hot day in the south. Service was fast and good and on point. The hibachi we chose was shrimp and steak. Both were delicious! My wife loved the zucchini and rice and I loved the yum yum sauce. Gender neutral restrooms were on prem and clean. Ambiance very casual with modern tables and comfy booths. The tvs played rock videos from loop.tv and there was a rock 'n roll theme hence the name. I ordered the "jailhouse roll", which is a deep fried roll filled with shrimp tempura and topped with Cajun seasoned crawfish spicy Mayo, eel sauce, and crunchy flakes. The roll was pretty tasted, but I did wish the Cajun flavoring was a bit more stronger, didn't taste it much throughout the roll. While obviously not authentic Japanese, the ambiance is fun and creative, with a rock n roll theme. Very unique. The service was friendly and attentive, despite the kitchen being a little slow making my coworker's hibachi plate. My other coworker and I got our sushi rolls quickly through, and because we were on a short lunch break, we couldn't wait and had to start eating before her hibachi plate arrived. Kind of awkward, but understandable. I ordered the PYRO ROLL (Shrimp tempura inside, topped with baked krab meat, spicy mayo, eel sauce and crunchy flakes) with a ginger salad. I appreciate that they provide a calorie estimate next to each item--I wish more restaurants did that! As far as taste, everything was just okay. The seafood quality was not the highest, but it got the job done. Would I seek this restaurant out if craving sushi? Probably not. Really enjoyed the experience but was not as impressed with the food. The decor is really cool and it feels like you are attached to a music venue. The menus areunique records and the menu items all have music themed names. I ordered a miso soup that tasted overly salty and looked like it came from a soup in a cup. The Salmon nigiri was good, but the rice was undercooked and the presentation in a bowl on lettuce threw me for a loop. My friend got the Punk Rock Roll and the shrimp tasted less like a tempura and the spacey tuna was not all that great. The highlight was the Unplugged roll which was a very flavourful cucumber roll with salmon, yellowtail, red tuna and avocado. Also not impressed with the portions like I know it's a sushi place but if I order chicken fried rice I'm expecting a dinner sized portion. I'll pay extra. We decided to forego our usual pre-concert Duluth spot and try Rock N Roll - sadly, other reviewers that lamented high prices and the lack of service were confirmed correct. While great service can sometimes compensate for an overpriced menu, it's just not so at RNR. We had to ask for everything from menus to sauce bowls to chopsticks to napkins to more drinks - and it's not as if it was crowded, it was nearly empty on a Friday night. As with other reviewers, we found that the food was pretty good, but too expensive. It's too bad, the location is ripe for a good bit of business. Details matter - the cool vibe works, the menu works, but the manager would be well-served to provide reasonable prices and train up the staff to pay some attention to the clientele. read more

Rock n Roll sushi is a star of its own! This is no ordinary sushi restaurant. There's rock n roll music filled through the airways and the sushi is one of a kind. I've never really had sushi rolls quite like rock n roll sushi. I went there last night for dinner and we ordered the VIP Roll, British Invasion Roll, Punk Rock Roll and the Tour Bus Roll. All were unique and tasty. Some were a bit spicy because they included jalapeños but that was just icing on the cake! My fave was the British Invasion and my date's fave was the VIP Roll. We also topped all that off with some hot sake, jalapeño poppers (SO GOOD!) and the Hall of Frame Brownie! What made our experience even better was our amazing waiter Peter. He gave us some great suggestions that we ordered and we are proud to say he did not disappoint. I can't wait to go back and try all of the other menu items. I give it 5 stars all around. New sushi spot in downtown Duluth. The theme was very nostalgic for those of us who grew up with 80's and 90's rock music. The menu was fun as it was all rock n roll themed. They have plenty of outdoor seating. The service was great. The food was ok. I'm not a big fan of sushi rolls with crab stick and/or cream cheese and their menu was full of it. Definitely not a place for those that enjoy authentic Japanese food, but I still recommend it because it's a fun place to hangout...and it's in downtown Duluth. read more

The restaurant was clean and well staffed. I had a pickup order and it was ready when I got there. It has a large, beautiful, outdoor seating space. The crab wonton was delicious, especially with the accompanying sauce. I had the Sweet Home Alabama rolls and that was delicious. I also order sashimi as an appetizer and that was very normal. the worst part was the server was sooooo sweet and nice, she brought out my food and appetize at the same time but not one time did she ever come back to my table to ask if I needed anything. We only got our sushi, and the waitress kept saying the rest is coming out soon. we waited for maybe an hour and I had to go find the waitress as she wasn't attentive to our table. I asked for the check and if the food was even being made, she said she'll put it to go for us. I want to say, the sushi tasted decent. The next day, I threw up 3-4 times and it was all because I had bad tuna. They myst've left the tuna out for long or something.
