I had a very disappointing experience with Rock N Roll Sushi. My Uber Eats order took 45 minutes to prepare even though the restaurant was completely empty when my driver arrived. When I finally received my food, the sushi was the worst I've ever had. It tasted old, as if it had been made the day before and simply reheated in the microwave. The quality was unacceptable, and the flavor was awful. I expected fresh sushi, but instead I received something that tasted stale and inedible. Horrible service. My friend got edamame before we got our drinks. AND WE ALL GOT WATERS. To add on, the lemons were cut very unprofessionally. I really want to like this place more, but it's definitely not the same as it was 6-10 years ago. My good friends and I usually go at least every month or every other month. And I will say they have some of the hardest working staff! When we visited last time, this precious young lady was all by herself, and there were probably 5 tables of customers plus the delivery orders, and she was doing most everything! We very much like the wantons, always fried to perfection, and there's a nice balance between the cream cheese mixture and the breading. The fried rice on the other hand is okay, and for what you pay, it's a relatively small serving size. Our rolls yesterday were pretty good. I decided to try one that was fried, and the breading in conjunction with the rice was almost too much for me in proportion to the center of the roll itself. We each ordered two rolls, and with the app and one iced tea, our bill was between $60 and $70, and we had barely eaten half our meal when we were brought the ticket and asked if we wanted to cash out, to which my friend asked if we had to right then. Our server told us we didn't and backed off a bit, which was good. Rock n Roll overall is a pretty good place for sushi, and they do have an outstanding staff. I've been to one of their franchises out in Florida and had a wonderful experience so figured I would try the one here but was very disappointed. The table was dirty. I went with one other person and we waited an hour for our food(roll gyoza and seaweed salad). Our waitress was very nice but we didn't see her much and I saw my food on the sushi bar for at least 10 minutes before she brought it to me. Either way I was waiting an hour at that point. I'm pretty patient and had no problem waiting the first 30 minutes because there were door dashers who were waiting on food but we didn't even get our appetizer until the food came at the the end of the hour. Nice theme and decor. Service was fine since we were the only table there. I wasn't impressed with the food though. Started off with the beef tataki that came out looking like teriyaki beef instead of traditional style beef tataki. It was served on a bed of greens with teriyaki sauce and sweet chili sauce. It was too salty for me. Onto the rolls: Led Zeppelin and Journey rolls. I can't recall which one was which but the one with the salmon on top was too sweet with the sweet chili sauce. The other with the avocado on top and softshell crab inside wasn't great either. Softshell crab tasted nonexistent. It was mostly batter and the roll itself didn't look appetizing. I wish I could give a half star, 3.5 would be more fair. I liked the vibe of the restaurant (sorry I forgot to take pictures). The decor is very on brand and cute if you love rock and roll. The menu covers are REAL ALBUM covers! Love that touch. I kept is simple and did an appetizer and 2 rolls. I liked the flavor of the crispy crab wontons but they were too soft, I think of a crispy bite and not a soft puff. The volcano roll is a basic Cali roll but baked, I'm learning I'm not a fan of warm rolls. But it does have a pretty cool flavor. The crowd surfer, I loved the crispy jalapeños on top, the crunchies, and the tempura shrimp + spicy tuna is a good mix inside. Definitely not traditional sushi. A lot of the rolls have a heavy amount of cream cheese or spicy Mayo in them - this might be someone's preference but I didn't care for it. The staff was very friendly but also loudly talking about personal issues with each other. That's how much they put inside. More rice than anything. The special crunchy had a thin piece of salmon and just crunchy on the inside. One of those is in the background of the picture. The interior is adorned with massive murals of some of the best Rock N Roll bands and albums of all time. That trend continued to the menus which were contained in the jacket of actual albums. I had to explain it to my kids. They still don't get it. Everything that I got was fresh, well prepared, and delicious. My order was salmon sashimi and a couple of their specialty rolls. The kids got some sort of teriyaki chicken. Pearl Jam Roll - This roll was loaded with both Albacore and Yellowtail tuna. Spicy mayo, eel sauce, red tuna, crab meat, and sweet chili sauce were on top. While the roll had a really great taste, all the stuff on the top kept falling off. I ended up eating the roll then the stuff. Madonna Roll - I got this because it had crawfish and crawfish is good. It had less stuff on top compared to the PJ roll and was much easier to eat. Service was friendly and very fast. If you're in Gulfport, or anywhere nearby, Rock N Roll is a good place to get sushi in the gulf coast. read more

Not much you can do when you tell them three or four times to not put mayo on the rolls and they put mayo on the rolls anyways. Service is terrible! There are many choices for sushi nearby. Food was decent. I ordered to-go for curbside but when I arrived I was told I had to go in which usually wouldn't be an issue but I wasn't prepared but I had no other choice. I had the Thriller sushi roll (they were ok), crab Rangoon (pretty good) and egg rolls (even though they were fresh and hot the taste reminded me of the frozen ones that can be purchased at your local grocery store). After biting into a piece of salmon sashimi I seriously wondered how I was going to be feeling in a couple of hours. It was so fishy tasting and foul smelling that I didn't eat the rest of the order. I gave Rock n Roll the benefit of the doubt especially based on all the great reviews and ate a piece of yellowtail nigiri. The piece I had was very fish and metallic tasting. We didn't eat the remaining yellowtail or salmon. Take a look at the photo I posted of each. I'm still wondering why we didn't stop at that point but we figured maybe the rolls would be better. We ordered the Black Pearl and Red Hot Chili Pepper roll. The Black Pearl was covered in sauce, but was topped with yellowtail, and that bad taste easily came through. The RHCP roll was easily the best thing we ordered, but the tempura shrimp inside it was not fresh and no spice came through though it apparently was topped with jalapenos. Though our server was friendly she did a couple of odd things. One, after we mentioned that the salmon and yellowtail had gone bad she came back with ponzu sauce and said to try it with that sauce. After telling you the fish is bad you want me to put sauce on it and try to eat it? Second, she only took the salmon off the bill. The main attraction here is the "headliners," what most sushi joints call deluxe sushi rolls. My girlfriend ordered the Journey roll, which had tuna and crab on the inside, and salmon on top with a slice of orange and an orange sauce drizzled over the roll. This unconventional orange paired amazingly with the salmon, something I would have never had thought of. I ordered the Jimmy Hendrix Experience, which has tempura shrimp and cream cheese, and mango, strawberries, eel sauce, and a spicy chilli sauce on top. This roll is outstanding! It hits so many flavors and feels - spicy, sweet, salty, creamy, crunchy - yet somehow managed to not seem too busy or overwhelming. It's something you absolutely must try! The dining area was clean, and had a nice atmosphere. The rock and roll theme was present, but not as overbearing as Hard Rock's interiors, which I appreciated. The service was casual (we were told to sit anywhere, and the utensils were simple wooden chopsticks, for instance) but attentive and helpful with questions. If I had any complaints, it's that the portions seem a little small, so you may want to get an appetizer to ensure you leave full. In closing, this sushi bar is fantastic. So far, it's my favorite place for deluxe sushi rolls, and I doubt that will change for a long, long time. read more
