A delightful encounter in Kanab, the small town along the way on our road trip to Salt Lake City. A…read morewonderful meal. Pistachio Chicken: The chicken breast was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a thin, crispy crust that was especially impressive. The sauce blended the mild aroma of Poblano chili, the creamy richness of butter, and the unique fragrance of herbs. Most precious was the pistachio aroma, both vibrant and subtle, without overpowering or masking the other flavors, creating a delicate balance. Even the saltiness was just right, subtle and delicate. The surface was garnished with pico de gallo, fresh, sweet, tangy, and spicy, balancing the potential heaviness of the sauce. The asparaguses were also very fresh, with a natural fragrance, but perhaps a little too mild with the sauce. Kanab Cowboy Ribs: The pork ribs were slow-cooked and roasted until they were so tender that they easily fell off the bone, offering no resistance when cutting into them. The homemade barbecue sauce coated it thickly, rich and sweet, with an authentic American barbecue flavor. It might be a bit too sweet for most Chinese palates, but I thought it was quite good. The agave mustard vinaigrette seemed more decorative; I nearly couldn't really taste it. Lemon Sorbet: Homemade sorbet, offering the most soulful finish. It was breathtakingly beautiful at first glance; the simple white porcelain plate and glass were limpid and elegant, perfectly matching the sorbet's style. Unlike typical sorbets that emphasize extreme acidity, this restaurant took a different approach, with a gentle, even subtle, acidity that brings out the natural, lively fragrance of lemon, like Lolita's touch through pale silk. The texture was also delicate and smooth, without any ice crystals. Everyone was captivated; some even ordered an extra to take away. The restaurant claims that ingredients come from its organic garden. This might be a pointless gimmick, but the cooking and presentation of the dishes conveyed a consistent level of refinement and care, making it all the more valuable.

There is indoor and outdoor seating but definitely try to eat outside. The view is so beautiful. The menu was pretty varied from tacos, sandwiches, burgers and meats. The drink menu was good too with lots of different draft beers and cocktails. We had the crispy Brussel sprouts -so good! The beer battered shrimp tacos on corn tortilla was really good and came with chips. Do try the "dirty soda"--vanilla root beer, coconut cream and lime. Loved it. The staff was super nice and even accommodated my request for no added salt. Definitely recommending this place!

The fried pickles were also fantastic, especially with the great ranch dip. However, the Mission Salad was just ok. We actually had to reorder it because they initially forgot to add the roasted corn and black beans. If a server had been available, this could have been addressed immediately. Instead, I had to go up to the counter, wait for someone, and then let them know about the order issue. Even after it was remade, there was simply too much lettuce, and for the price, it really isn't worth it. Service-wise, I was frustrated by having to tip before even being served. Additionally, the staff never checked on us during our meal to see if everything was good or to refill our water. I'm torn between a 3-star and a 4-star review because service means everything, especially in this day and age where everything is outrageously expensive.

The shrimp tacos were fresh, juicy, and packed with flavor - perfectly seasoned shrimp with great toppings and that soft tortilla that holds it all together without falling apart. Highly recommend! Then the coconut shrimp - crispy on the outside, tender inside, with that sweet coconut flavor that pairs amazingly with the dipping sauce. Such a tasty twist. But the star for me was the chimichurri ribeye steak - cooked just right, super tender, and the chimichurri sauce brought bright, herby freshness that cut through the richness perfectly. One of the best steaks I've had in a casual spot like this. Everything felt fresh and housemade, portions were generous, and the vibe is chill and welcoming. If you're in the area (or making a trip!), do yourself a favor and hit up Whiptail Grill. We'll definitely be back next time we're around - craving that chimichurri ribeye already! Oh and topped it off with the flan!! So good!

I drove all the way from Los Angeles because of the great Yelp reviews, expecting an amazing meal…read more That turned out to be my biggest mistake. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger and the Carne Asada Taco Plate. The burger was clearly made long before it was served and had been sitting under a warmer for far too long. The bun and patty were dry, and the sauce was so ordinary that I honestly would have preferred a burger from McDonald's. The carne asada tacos were even worse. The meat wasn't seasoned at all, and there were far too many large chunks of fat, making it unpleasant to chew. It tasted like it was made by someone who doesn't even know the basics of making tacos. I asked for some hot sauce, and later noticed they had charged me an extra $2 for it. When I asked why, the employee (or maybe the owner) simply said, "If you don't want it, I'll take it off." That wasn't the point. I could have paid the $2 without any problem, but the attitude was rude and unprofessional, and honestly disgusting. If you're going to serve tacos, at least learn the basics. I'd suggest taking a trip to Los Angeles and learning how real tacos are made. While you're there, maybe stop by McDonald's and see how they make a better burger, too. The food was a huge disappointment and completely failed to live up to the Yelp ratings. My trip to Zion National Park didn't start well because of this meal, but thankfully the sunset was beautiful enough to make me forget about this terrible dining experience.

A Dash Of Country French With Amazing Service…read more.... My wife and I were on the prowl again for a restaurant for dinner. Typical tourists. Reviews said "try Vermillon". We were glad we did. - Overall: 5 - Exterior: 3 - Ambiance: 4 - Menu: 4 - Food Quality: 5 - Food Portion: 5 - Service: 10 - Chef: 10 - Price and Value: 5 - Parking: 4 - Location: Convenient. In the "downtown" area across the street from the Wild Thyme Cafe. - Exterior: Nothing special. A boxy building with outside seating. - Ambiance: Country French...or as close as you can get in Utah. Actually, nice and comfortable. - Menu: Not big, but with interesting choices in each category. - Food: Excellent. We started the meal by sharing a Caprese Salad ($15). Large and tasty. My entree was one of the night's specials...Vegetable Curry ($22). Big bowl of fresh diced vegetables with a moderately spicy sauce. A fine dish. My wife chose the other special of the day...Chicken Marsala ($25) on a bed of mashed potatoes. It's one of her favorite's and she said "it was as good as any I've had". For dessert, we shared a Chocolate Mousse ($12). We could have had 3 more. For drinks, I had a Belgian Blond beer ($10) while my wife had a glass of French Chardonnay ($16). Both did the job. - Service: AMAZING describes our server, Wendy. She was the only person taking care of a roomful of customers. I counted 30 with more coming in. But Wendy helped us as if we were the only people in the restaurant. AMAZING. And one other question stumped us. How did the ONE chef handle 30+ orders and maintain a steady pace in the kitchen? Wow! - Price and Value: Not cheap, but worth it. The total before tax and tip was an even $100. - Parking: Fine, both behind and on the street. Vermillon might not be as "country French" as you'll find in France, but it was great and a lot closer to home.

On Thursday, we ordered Nonna's salad, the Pollo Bianco pizza, and the Nutella Piegato. The salad is large enough to feed 4 people. The pizza was good (our server recommended adding grapes, and it's a great idea). The Nutella Piegato was amazing. The ends were kind of tough, but we made our way through. Our guests had the Dolce Diavola Pizza and the Pollo Rustico Pizza. My husband tried and really liked the Dolce Diavola pizza and couldn't wait to return. Our server was wonderful, thorough, and knowledgeable. Saturday, we ordered the Cesar Salad, Dolce Diavola Pizza, a Margherita Pizza, and the Nutella Piegato. Our guests ordered the House Rustic Bread, Nonna's Famous Meatballs, and a Cheese and half chicken pizza. It's not as smooth of a visit this time around. Our guest had to wait some time for their pizza after we all got our food. Then our dessert was taking so long that we almost canceled it. I'm not as impressed today. I guess I'm more busy due to being a weekend, maybe, not sure. The food was good. My husband was happy to have the pizza he wanted and said it was amazing! The dining experience was nice, not too bright, and not too loud. And I'd like to add - a server should never assume one or the other in a party is paying. The check was given directly to my husband, to which he replied, "She's paying for it," and he handed it to me. That's not a good look!

If you are ever in Kanab, a stay at the Inn is a must. Kathy's attention to her guests enhances the pleasure of staying at the inn. Her attention to detail is boundless. The coziness of the bed and bedding, along with her thoughtful care of her guests, does not go unnoticed. And, of course, one cannot compliment her breakfasts enough. Delicious fruit, beautifully displayed, fresh juice of your choice, and mouthwatering entrées are all part of the experience. Her husband, Tory, available when he can be, is also a gracious host and tends the bountiful garden that supplies much of Kathy's cooking.
