A quick review. This place is super cute with the small town Western feel. The server was really nice. We had the nachos, chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken breast. They give free warm rolls before the meal. Everything was really good!!

Dinner salads with 1000 Island dressing yum!!

Smack dab in the middle of Kanab in a rustic building, lies this great find. We were HANGRY after hiking all day, this place and menu looked fitting. Come to find out upon entering and being greeted by the hostess....THEY HAD PRIME RIB ON SPECIAL! Yeehaw, that is my wife's favorite, so it was on. We were promptly greeted and given a run down about available drink options. Too bad the server did not mention they had alcohol, but she was obviously bee to the job and a Pepsi x3 did me just fine. I had honestly never tried a chicken fried steak, I know...pathetic. This place had it highlighted, so today was the day! We chose dinner salads with 1000 Island dressing and licked the bowls. My CFS came with a loaded baked potato and gravy on the side. It was as good as advertised and the prime rib special was a knockout, with mashed potatoes and gravy on the side. 5 stars for the food, 4 on the service, thanks for the hearty meal!

After searching yelp for a place that everyone said was good and didn't break the bank we decided to give this place a try. Man am I glad we did. I ordered the USDA hamburger steam with grilled onions. I left off the mushrooms because I don't eat fungus. The wife ordered the famous chicken fried steak. So I usually ask for ketchup and smother it because my mom's was not good and I found a love of ketchup. Anyway after the first bite I was amazed at the flavor of the gravy so ended not needing the ketchup. They also have these huge rolls that I used to sop up the gravy it was that good. The wife really liked the chicken fried steak but said the meat was a bit tough. The service was outstanding and just the right amount of attention. It has an old western theme which fit in with the food well. I would recommend this place for a good reasonable prices.

After a day of hiking we stopped here for dinner. As usual in every eatery we've been to on this trip, the servers are very professional and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant. The food is fresh and tasty. My side veggies were very good and was my husbands steak. The steak was tender and flavorful. My burger was just ok but all the extras; lettuce, tomatoes and pickles were what made it good. Server was nice and attentive.

From its western theme and menu to its buzzing neon sign out front, Houston's Trail's End Restaurant is pure Americana. American as American can be. On the inside, you'll find more of the same. The restaurant is staffed by a crew of some of the most wholesome, and, I say so blushingly, pretty servers this side of the Mississippi. Smiling representatives who make the great state of Utah proud, and us hungry travelers, happy. I visited in the early evening for dinner. I immediately happened upon an item that was highlighted in a box at the top of the menu. The Chicken Fried Steak. It's their #1 seller, and for good reason. At least one in your party should try the Chicken Fried Steak. Maybe you who are reading this tripe? By the way, I don't know if they actually serve tripe, but if they do, it wouldn't be on my plate. I wouldn't be able to stomach it. The chicken fried steak is authenticly delicious. Perfect seasoning, perfectly breaded, and the gravy topper is the icing on the perfect portion. It's accompanied by two sides of your choice. I chose a baked potato and salad (get the honey mustard dressing, it's tangy good). You'll also get a dinner roll. Warm and fluffy. A complete meal. Just like you'd find on a chuck wagon, but without the dust and chaw splatter. If their #1 seller is this good, I'm sure #2 isn't far behind.....nope, I don't think that I'll joke in that direction. Where I will go, is back to Trail's End next time I'm in the great western town of Kanab. Quick Tip: For dessert, they have an assortment of pies. Save room for a slice. Of course, I didn't save room. I did, however, have room for a cookie. It was from a batch that my ex-wife sent me on the road with. We may not be married anymore, but we're cookie friends.....and that's a benefit!

Everyone talked about the pie, and I foolishly did not save room after dinner, so I missed out on trying it. I'll have to come back another time and redeem myself there. What I did eat was the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. It was heavy, stick-to-your ribs country cooking and I left satisfied, even though the diet was out the door. Service was friendly and the ambience is very country. It's a fun place to grab a meal and I'm still kicking myself for skipping the pie.

Service was pleasant and friendly. Party of four. Three ordered the roast beef dip and I ordered a patty melt. Tasty and we were hungry. We were full but treated ourselves to some delicious chocolate cream pie with chocolate, whipped cream, topping and I had a RazzleBerry pie, both were exceptionally delicious.

The food was great, the service was great, and it wasn't too loud or crowded! Photo is of ground round (no mushrooms).

This place is cozy and very welcoming and the service is superb. Country Fried Steak did not disappoint. The shrimp and roast beef items were excellent as well.

Staying in town for the night we got to our hotel looking for a place for dinner and this restaurant was only about a 1/4 mile walk and they said no reservations but there should only be a 15 minute wait for a table for 8. It took a bit longer but that was no problem as the ladies went shopping at a gift store next door . We were seated at a table of 8 in the back room and had a friendly, talkative and excellent server named Don Ann. We ordered everything from wraps to steak to burgers and everyone enjoyed their meals at very fair prices. We'd all recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a nice place to eat with good food at fair prices

Houstons Trail Ends Restaurant -- Kanab Altho Kanab is a lil town, there we were able to find a great meal here for dinner the 1st night of our weekend getaway. There was a wait since it was a Friday and the few restaurants in the area all probably had a wait too. But it wasn't too bad. My hubby and older son got the "famous Chicken Fried Steak" while my younger son had Chicken fried Chicken. I had the Philly Steak Sandwich. My sandwich came with one side while their dinner plates came with a roll and two sides. So the prices were very good for a tourist town. The guys enjoyed the Chicken Fried Steak. My sons liked their Mac and cheese side too. My sandwich was ok but since I said no to the peppers it was just topped with onions and cheese. Wish they had mushrooms too. And altho I like my fries Crispy... but mine were well done. We also love ranch but their ranch was so watered down, it barely made it into our mouths without a drip or two along the way. Oh but rolls!!! They were great big homemade rolls! Soft and fresh. Waitress was attentive enough given the crowd. The food did not take too long to come out either which was surprising. We also took a banana cream pie slice to go and we ate it later for dessert at the hotel. It was pretty good too-- def recommend getting a cream pie slice.

The beautiful Center Street patio was completely empty, with probs 10 seats just sitting there basking in the sun, not a single soul (or paw) in sight. Perfect, right? Wrong. We were bluntly informed that this pristine, deserted patio was reserved exclusively for customers with pets. Never mind the zero dogs actually present. Inside? A luxurious 20-minute wait for a small table in a crowded room. We gently noted the glaring lack of any actual pets enjoying this "exclusive" area, but rules are rules, apparently. No dog, no patio. I did consider claiming my girlfriend occasionally identifies as a furry to game the system, but I decided against it. Instead, I simply let the hostess know their brilliant policy had successfully driven away two more paying customers. Mission accomplished!

After finishing the duck dish and still waiting at least 30 minutes, I finally stopped our waiter to bring it up and ask for the check. All he said was it was coming, but we still just wanted the check. Not sure if the kitchen timing was off since it was a weekend and Valentine's Day, but very disappointed with the service. It should also be noted that when we sat down, two tables next to us were finishing up. We ordered our food before the new customers arrived at those two tables. Both of those tables received full service, including dessert, before we were even checked on. Even once we stopped the server to cancel the remainder of our order, there was no apology given.

There was a group of us and our waitress was on top of it, had no problem splitting the checks and stayed organized so that she could easily do so! I'd love to give it 5 stars, but my brisket plate was just okay. Two small pieces, the mac and cheese was pretty simple, the toast was just not toasty...the slices of brisket I was given were good. I enjoyed the smoked chicken, especially. The brisket was very tender. Service was kind and quick. No complaints. One odd thing is that me and another guest at the table both ordered an extra side of brisket to go along with our meals and they served it on the same platter. When it was about half gone and I had asked for my side, they said they put both portions on the same dish and that is just weird and made it awkward. However, they did bring me an extra little cup of brisket. Still odd that they would do that. The atmosphere was cool, but the live entertainment that night was singing very depressing songs which honestly just mismatched the vibe of the whole restaurant and ruined the mood. Happy I tried Iron Horse, but probably wouldn't come back between the odd service and the sad entertainment not matching with the expected vibe of the place. A lot of potential with this restaurant though.
