We recently needed to resurface our pool and repair pool coping. We also wanted to update the adjacent cement decking. We obtained quotes for replacing the concrete with travertine, but our pool contractor, Adams Pool Solutions in Pleasanton, suggested exploring the possibility of having Rock Solid repair the coping and resurface all of the coping and the adjacent concrete deck in any design that appealed to us. We met with Ted Fitch and Seth Lopez to discuss potential designs and to obtain a quote. We were impressed by their experience, professionalism and their thorough explanation of their process. We also met Ted at the Adams Pool showroom, where there are examples of their process on multiple sections of Adams' floor. We were impressed by the beauty, durability and wide variety of patterns and textures that were possible. The reasonable price allowed us to update approximately 3-4 times our concrete deck surface area than would have been possible with Travertine. We chose Rock Solid for the job and are so happy that we did. The Rock Solid crew led by Poncho were wonderful top work with. We worked out an aesthetically pleasing pattern, color and texture for our deck and coping surface based on sample boards, modified until we got the result that we wanted. The team then applied the surface expertly, efficiently and they were always on time, courteous, cleaned up at the end of each day and communicated the status of their progress. The Rock Solid team worked closely with the Adams Pool team, coordinating with each others work schedules. It is extremely important to know that Rock Solid's technique is not stamped concrete. The appearance achieved by Rock Solid reflects the fact that every aspect of their application of material is done by hand, including the sense of "movement" in the surface pattern that is created by these craftsmen that resembles what a high-end lime plasterer can achieve on interior walls. Rock Solid coated the concrete deck and patio around our pool after we renovated the pool with new tile and a pebble finish. I chose to work with Rock Solid after researching numerous companies, reading all the online reviews, and meeting Ted. My principal goals were having a top-quality job, completion of the job as quickly as possible, and not having any surprises along the way. Cost was not a factor. As happens occasionally even with the best of companies, our particular job did not go well. I won't go into detail but suffice to say that the result was not the look or quality of what we envisioned. I have overseen hundreds of improvement projects in my professional career, and when one does not meet standards, my first concern is how will the company respond. To Ted's credit, he reviewed the job at completion and agreed that the work did not meet his standards and that he would make it right. It took only a few days for Ted to reorganize the busy schedules of his teams to send a new team to re do our job. This was not a small fix; he had the crew do the entire job over again. Raul and his team were great to work with and the result of the do over is beautiful and what we expected from this fine company. Since they were so busy it took a few months before they were able to get started on my job, but that is the way it goes these days. Rock Solid and team did an amazing job with my driveway a few years ago. It has aged incredibly well and has stood the test of time! The great thing is, it was a much better option than tearing out as it was extremely hassle free and about half the cost! It looks much nicer than a normal concrete pour. It was also completely customizable. They made sample boards before applying the coating so we were able to see exactly what we wanted before they put anything down on our driveway. I wanted to put in an outdoor kitchen and seating area. Most of our backyard was already complete with artificial turf and pavers. We had an original (1976) concrete patio that housed a three seasons room and an outdoor area. The concrete was old, stained, cracked and ugly. I couldn't put in my dream backyard without doing something. I received several bids to tear everything out and replace with either pavers or new stamped concrete. Pricing for the pavers was astronomical and I was concerned about the mess and damage to the artificial turf. Painting it was an option but I knew I wouldn't be happy with the results. I had Justin come out from Rock Solid to discuss different options, designs and how long it would take to complete. Justin was thorough in his presentation, answered all my questions and provided a written estimate within 24 hours. The price was just slightly cheaper than removing everything and putting in new concrete, but without the mess! Within a few days, I had decided to hire Rock Solid to start work. Justin put me on the calendar within 2 weeks, and his guys showed up right on time each day. The process was amazing to see from start to finish. Each day the crew cleaned up after themselves and asked if anything else needed to be done before they left. The foreman of the crew provided great suggestions on color and design to compliment the pavers already in place. He made three color boards for us and we loved one in particular. The crew carved out the design by hand, then laid the color just right to make a beautiful new concrete patio. Everyone who visits our backyard immediately compliments the concrete as it is the first thing seen when coming outside. Justin even followed up a couple days later to make sure everything came out just how we wanted. This project occurred in April 2019 but I wanted to wait to see how the overlay held up before posting a review. So far, looks as beautiful as the day it was installed. The scope of the work included about 1200 feet of pool decking and the walkway into the house. The work was on time and on budget. Pablo and his crew showed up before 8 each morning and set right to work. We were kept informed of all aspects of progress and schedule. Pablo worked with us on base color and highlighting colors as well as selecting a complimentary grout color. The process was more complex than we anticipated but it was clearly evident they were very skilled in the process. Pablo made up 4-5 color boards before we settled on one. The entire process took 8 working days with at least 3 employees every day. Clean up was accomplished every night before they left and supplies were left in an organized manner. We covered some 40 year old concrete and the results are spectacular. Would recommend this company to anyone. read more

The GOOD: I called and set an appointment for an estimate, got a call to confirm the day before they came out. The owner himself came out to bid the job and it turns out that we go to the same church and know a couple of the same people there. I felt this was a good sign and told him what we wanted to have done, and our time frame of a month or so to start. He stated that was a good amount to set up the job. The BAD: As he finished doing the measuring the concrete that needed to be refinished, I asked what kind of options they had for finishes / pricing as we were on a budget and we were looking at him doing a big job in redoing our driveway, rear patio and joining walkways from the front, back and side yards. We needed to hear about our options, because we'd also want to redo the garage floor in a matching finish down the road. He said almost nothing to me other than "Check the web site for our different finishes.", and walked away. I was surprised and followed him to his truck asking what the next step was. He handed me a flyer and said he'd call in a couple of days with pricing, and drove away as I started to ask for more info. Over two weeks went by and no follow up. I called and the lady that confirmed the appointment said she would talk with the owner, and was very sorry that "something" must have happened. Two more weeks - same thing. Two more weeks - I left two different messages on their answering machine. The VERY BAD: No response to date, AT ALL! I will update this review if I ever do hear from them If the owner of a company wont be honest with you, even if to say they can't, or don't want the job, especially if you may run into him at church, what kind of business is he and his company going to do to you if you do not know him?? I have to say we were a little worried after reading the reviews but we really needed someone who knew what they were doing because our job entailed refinishing the limestone appearance on our pool decking and patio area that was over 10 years old. After meeting with a couple of contractors, we found most were not qualified to do the particular limestone finish we needed. Ted, the owner of the company, came out the day after we called and we received a bid via email within 24 hours. The bid was a little more than we expected but we have a pretty large backyard with a pool, retaining walls, stepped lawns... Luis and his crew started last week and are just finishing up today and I have to say, "Wow"! We are absolutely amazed by the terrific job they have done!!! My wife found Rock Solid Inc. in an Ad in our local newspaper. My wife and I were looking to upgrade the front of our newly purchased home that had a cracked front porch and step. Having some used brick accents we were stumped because we did not want to add more used brick. Ted, the owner came out to show us samples and explain the process. He scheduled us for the following week and his crew was there at my door 7:00 A.M. Poncho, Mario and Raul were their team that would be working on our home. Three men that we became very fond. What started out to be our front steps, two garage pillars and walkway ended up with two additional pillars added. Ted was a gracious owner and gave us very fair pricing for the additions. In fact, our total job cost me much less than I actually had budgeted after getting several bids. I guess I never realized the process of how they would create old concrete and wood posts to look like custom Italian tile. Our team stayed with us for 9 days arriving at 7 every morning and leaving close to 5. These men worked as a team and took pride in every step they did. The end results have me and my wife walking outside to admire their job several times a day. We could not be happier with the end results, the workmanship and cost. Our friends can't believe what a difference Rock Solid made to the look of our home. Some even drove by it twice not recognizing it. Our Realtor friends say the value of our home has increased 10 fold the cost of the improvement. I could not recommend a company more than I recommend Rock Solid Inc. We've used Rock Solid twice over the past 7 years. The work included all of our concrete surfaces including our 3-car driveway, walkways and pool deck. The first job was large ($25k) with some concrete demolition, some new concrete and limestone overlay with color and sealant. The second job ($2.9k) was to repair the first job due to de-lamination of the limestone in some areas, removing tire marks from the driveway, entirely re-coloring the limestone and expansion joint re-sealing. The crews do excellent work and show up on time. However when they re-colored our limestone they used the wrong color, going from a light grey to a dark brown. The first color used three ingredients, the second time they used four, according to their paperwork. The first time they made color boards for us to approve. The second time they just went ahead and added the color. When we told Ted the color was wrong, he said we're "sensitive to color" and "it will lighten up". He also said that they were the same colors, but he was using a different brand of paint so the names are different. Now we have some water stains that don't come off and some more de-lamination. The second job was completed in August, 2015. We are very unhappy with the color. It has not lightened up. Ted is very difficult to deal with. read more
