I am new to owning a Jeep but knew I wanted to modify it once I got it. Part of my research before getting my Jeep was talking to several owners and shops that work on off-road vehicles. Growing up in the area, I never knew Rock Tech Offroad was near me. I spoke to Chris, the owner, who took time to answer my questions reference Jeeps, even though he was busy, he still gave great customer service. In speaking with several people who are into offroading, several of them knew Chris and said he was the best and very knowledgeable. I decided to use Rock Tech Offroad and it was the best decision I made. Originally, I just wanted a winch, but Chris explained that I should also do the lift kit at the same time due to the added weight. The explanation made sense so I went with the AEV DualSport 2.5 Lift. I noticed part of the work was to add a new front Yeti Steer Smart Trackbar. This was enough needed for the lift kit, but I figured if it was going to be in the shop, might as well do a better build now instead of later, so I added the rear trackbar and upgraded the whole steering. Chris ensured me it was good build and that was the way to go, but the decision was mine. I liked the fact that Chris was not pushy about making a sale, just wanted to make sure my Jeep would run excellent with quality products and service. Since my initial build, I have spoken with Chris on future mods I want to do, which he has helped me by prioritizing certain mods before others and explaining why. Chris is definitely very knowledgeable and I truly respect his advice and recommendations and know he will not steer me wrong. Took my Rubicon in for a lift,rims and tires, change diff gear ratio. Had a broken lower control arm, so some welding. Brakes, off road , front and rear bumpers. All AEV parts. Right when I pulled into their garage I saw jeep wranglers all over with tons of mods, I knew I was at the right shop. Rock Tech Offroad for great parts and professional installs. I recently sold my old Jeep YJ and bought a new JK unlimited. The new Jeep is my daily driver and will see travel, trail, and expedition use. I will camp out of it a lot. I'm planning what I'd call a modest expedition build. I spent a fair amount of time doing research into to what if any modifications I would invest in and how to prioritize them. I had a chance to talk with Joe for an hour or so when he showed up at a Jeep club shop night. Joe gave me some good advice and suggested I talk to Chris at his shop Rock Tech. I'd already met both Chris and Joe before and head heard they ran a good shop. I contacted Chris and then went in to see him and see the shop. Chris knows a lot about 4x4s and seems to be particularly knowledgeable on JKs. His shop carries and installs really high quality parts from some of the most respected manufacturers. The AEV line particularly fits the type of build I want to do. I'd love to do an extensive AEV build on my Jeep and I'll do more in time, but I started with the AEV DualSport 2.5" lift and the geometry correction brackets. I don't expect to go much bigger on tires, but could run 35s if I wanted to. The price is the price with AEV, everyone has to charge the same. Rock Tech actually has a good stock of AEV parts currently. The install was done quickly and at a good price. I highly recommend the AEV lift, even though my Jeep is about 3" higher the handling is enhanced, even on the road. Rock Tech did good work on my Jeep and I'll use them again when I install something I can't or don't want to do myself. I bought a couple more parts from Rock Tech when I went in yesterday for a check and re-torque of my lift. I got the AEV slider for the rear diff, and a set of JKS Quicker disconnects for the front sway bar. I'll put these in myself, but Rock Tech again, had the good parts and the price was right where I would have expected it. Thanks Guys! read more

Chris is an amazing fabricator and a great person. He installed an AEV lift on my JLU and did an amazing job. He was very honest when explaining my various options for the lift and I was very comfortable with the AEV package he recommended without ever having seen or ridden on one. The lift was completed on time and was very accommodating to allow us to retrieve a parking pass I left in the vehicle when it already mid disassembly on the lift. He even installed the AEV prosnap and recalibrated the speedometer to accommodate the new tires I had. I called several shops asking if they could fix my 95 Grand Cherokee's dreaded death wobble, and no one but Chris had heard of the term. That's when I knew he was the man to do the job. He gave me a fair estimate on labor, parts and turn around time and was very patient with explaining what the problem could be. I had done lots of research on various jeep forums about the issue and everything he told me about the death wobble was consistent with what I found online. He explained it could be many things but its usually faulty steering components. Since I've had the work done (about three months) I have not had that problem again. I have to start by saying Chris and Joe are amazing! They hate to have to say "no" to a customer (sometimes it's necessary), but they often stay late and work weekends to finish a job on time. Most customers don't see or appreciate this, but it doesn't go unnoticed guys! THANK YOU! They go out of their way to get the job done and to do it RIGHT the first time! I did extensive research in lifts, bumpers, etc before deciding on AEV. Then, I found Rock Tech as an authorized dealer right here in my back yard! You can find less expensive equipment, but you will get what you pay for and probably go see Chris to fix it anyway! My wife has an unmodified 2008 Sahara and I have a 2010 Rubicon that had a Rubicon Express lift. Her Sahara always drove better than the Rubicon, but I just thought the rough ride was a sacrifice I had to make. I recently had Chris and Joe install the AEV 3.5" lift on the Rubicon and the ride now puts the Sahara to shame! The ride is something you use every day and is worth the investment and all of the other stuff I've had Rock Tech do just makes it look AWESOME! Without hesitation, I would recommend Rock Tech for all of your off-road needs! Before going to Rock Tech Offroad I was getting my installation done at a off road chain that I looked to for technical support and advice on products to install on my Jeep JK. I only had one issue. The installation of parts on my Jeep were done incorrectly and caused the infamous "death wobble." I found Rock Tech Offroad by checking Yelp and I spoke with Chris over the phone and inevitable went to his shop. Chris is very professional and explained the problems with my Jeep in detail. The other employee (name escapes me at this moment) was also very professional and explained to me the issues with my Jeep once he went under it. Chris did not push to sell any products to me but educated me with problems with certain brands. He reiterated the same issues that I have read from countless forums online and I knew then that he knew what he was talking about. I had a Rubicon Express economical lift (3.5 inches) that was installed incorrectly by another shop. Chris was able to fix it to a certain extent but I knew the stock control arms needed to be changed which was quite expensive. We decided to change my lift to the AEV 3.5 lift which he explained and showed to me that would correct the angles of the stock control arms to give a better than stock drive. We took a short ride around the block in Chris' Jeep JK with the AEV lift and I was convinced that this was the lift I needed. I ended up (on my own accord) replacing my rear tire carrier (Smittybilt XRC rear bumper with tire carrier) with Poison Spyder bumper/tire carrier and replaced my rock guards with Poison Spyder Rock guards. Chris ordered the parts and sent it out for powder coat then installed them. I drove my Jeep from the shop today and I could not be more than happy. "Death wobble" gone. I will be getting more work done in the future by Chris because of the following reasons: -Cares about customer's satisfaction and would not put a Jeep on the road that is unsafe to driver -product prices are matched to any online retail. -quality control (two experience mechanics under your Jeep) -install prices are better than other shops I've been to. -Customer Service - Chris will answer your calls immediately and/or email you promptly. Had purchased various upgrades for my Jeep from this shop. The shop also performed the install of the items. Unfortunately, I had to take my Jeep back once to get items fixed, which were typically loose bolts. I am still having issues with the installations. I decided to take my Jeep to another shop who stated that most of the problems were caused by the first installer not using loctite or torquing bolts to the correct weight. Not good!
