This bakery is incredible. To start with the food, every single thing I have had from here is delicious. There is a variety including both classics, but also things I have only seen here. The apple pie is just perfect, apples layered with cinnamon and a flaky crust. The Salted Butterscotch Blondie was incredible. I have had their Bacon, egg, and cheese on a biscuit and it was excellent. The biscuit was flaky and is just as good as the ones I've had in South Carolina. I also really like their smoked salmon on an everything bagel croissant sandwich. The service is amazing. They are kind, helpful, and it has a very homey vibe. Paying with Venmo is different, but not a big deal, and by the second time I went there, it was just second nature. I would recommend this place to anyone, and plan to go over and over while I live in Arverne. read more

Cute little coffee shop in the neighbor. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I already picked up coffee when I found Rockway beach bakery so instead I decided to get some food. Everything on the menu sounded amazing and I decided to get the BLT on Focaccia. I was disappointed with the sandwich. For the price I was expecting a large, lush, fresh sandwich but instead it was the opposite. The bread was hard and not as soft and chewy like it should be. The bacon came straight from a container; wasn't heated up, just added cold to the sandwich and all the arugula leaves had tiny holes, which didnt make me confident it was stored safely or even cleaned properly; i took it off before eating the sandwich, which tasted very basic. I would definitely try something else to see if it's any better but I was disappointed with the product i received compared to the price. read more

This place is a local joint with baked goods made onsite. If you don't see what you want, chances are they sold out of the item. It is on the way to the beach which is a convenience. My only rub of the joint is the price points associated with the items. It makes it more of a treat place vs a regular coffee local spot. It has a nice seating eat for you to rest your feet and the patio- swing door is a nice touch. The staff is a bit impatient with you if you take too long so be aware of that. read more

The decor of Rockaway Beach Bakery is adorable with colorful paintings and the ambiance is lively. The staff was friendly, attentive and introduced everything with patience. Their Ham & Swiss Everything Croissant is a must try. We were impressed with it's balanced flavor and the multi-layered & crispy texture. Stopped by this bakery for coffees and a treat or two after breakfast. It's a cute place with different kinds of specialty baked goods (think apricot elderberry scones and strawberry rhubarb croissants). We had a slice of the plain croissant loaf and a salted chocolate chip cookie. The loaf was delicious. It looks like they make other types of croissant loaves but we had the plain. Though amazing on it's own, I figured I'd ask for some jam and let them know I would pay extra if needed. The girl at the counter turned around to asked someone who looked to be the manager/owner. She said no. It was a little off-putting especially since the girl in line behind me ordered the ricotta toast with jam so it's not as if they didn't have it. In general we got the feeling this place doesn't really seem to care about customer service. Many of the businesses we went to during our weekend in Rockaway were much friendlier. The cookie was nothing special but some of the baked goods here are worth it. If it weren't for the service, would have been 4-5 stars for sure. read more

I can't believe I've never posted a review of Rockaway Beach Bakery because it's my absolute favorite bakery and one of my favorite places in NYC! I have an insatiable sweet tooth and enduring love of pastries, pies and pretty much any kind of treat, so I make it a point to visit the best bakery(s) in places I visit and in NYC. I've been going for at least 3 years and can say with confidence everything at this bakery is outstanding. The everything ham & cheese croissant is out of this world, and I had to get it every time I visited before I stopped eating pork. Now I've branched out to try every kind of croissant (just had the strawberry rhubarb almond one today and it is FANTASTIC), the guava cream cheese danish, the sticky bun, various scones and quiche (also just had the cauliflower cheddar quiche today) and I've never been disappointed. I would be in heaven with the selection they started with, but I love that there's always something new to try. We drive (and used to take the bus) from Forest Hills, which is definitely not lacking when it comes to bakeries, just to go here because it's that special. The bakery is also super cute, with a very hip surf-inspired aesthetic. I used to love hanging on the patio out back and hope it will be back someday, but for now it's lovely sitting at the seats in the front. One caveat RE: payment is they only accept cash and Venmo. If you're going with cash bring plenty because you will want to try everything! read more

It's true, you can smell the sweet warm aroma of baked goods as soon as you hit the block. As I walked in I was greeted by a lovely staff member, who also guided me in choosing between the salted honey bun and the chocolate croissant. I went with the chocolate croissant of course, however I stared at that salted honey bun for 5 minutes. The chocolate croissant was delicious, but very crispy (messy), and the chocolate (which took 3 bites to find) was buttery smooth (perfect). They do not accept card here; only cash or Venmo. I definitely do think about the chocolate croissant from time but I'm planning a trip to come back and try that salted honey bun. Btw the Q22 bus stops right in front of here, if that matters to anyone. read more

When the door is open you can smell the baked butter as you approach the bakery and you get excited. Early AM you get more options because they will sell out... The ham and cheese croissant is what I came for and left with that plus an almond croissant, the croissant loaf sliced and an apple pop tart. Can refuse a childhood snack that is homemade. The croissants are DEVINE. Flaky, tasty (so tasty) and I greatly appreciate the layers.... Haven't tackled the pop tart of croissant loaf until after dinner. They look gorgeous so I am guessing they will also be delicious. The other day I came at 2:45p for the ham and cheese but it was sold out...I got a Gruyère quiche and a pumpkin muffin that were delectable. The quiche was rich and so savory...1 slice isn't enough for my brain. My brain can keep eating if it's delicious. The pumpkin muff was (I think gluten free) q and it was excellent. Almost like a pumpkin bread loaf in muffin form. Dense, sweet, pumpkin-y, with fluffiness...it was all excellent. So far everything I've eaten has been excellent. No credit card. No PayPal. Cash or make sure to have a Venmo account. It's easier that way. read more

It had the flavor of a pancake, the texture of a cronut and real banana in every bite. My only regret is that I live so far away from this treasure shop. Best bakery in NYC hands down! On our way out to Rockaway Beach for a long bike ride we asked Google Maps for the closest bakery. It navigated us to Rockaway Beach Bakery and it felt like divine intervention. We live in the East Vilage and are always on the lookout for tasty muffins that aren't just giant pieces of cake. This place has the best muffins! Perfectly balanced and baked by pros! I could go on and on. We got some stuff for the ride and then on the way home we picked up some treats to give to friends and another muffin and financier for our breakfast. The women there are also super friendly! My friend grabbed the strawberry and rhubarb pie for us to split, never have i had something like this before and it wont be the last. first off, it was the perfect temperature. the innerds/filling of the rhubarb and strawberry were cold, but the pie crust and crumble were room temp. moist, sweet, but a kick of tart - the filling was perfect. my favorite part? the crumble on top, a touch of cinnamon and crunch, i could eat a whole bowl of the topping alone. saddest part? we came here at 12 and they were sold out of the sticky buns - keep that in mind! i will be back. read more

I was going to this bakery this morning as I heard the owner was recently on a cooking show on TV and that they had nice sweets. As I was getting out of the car I heard a woman yelling and because alarmed as the bakery is a block or so from the Projects. One of the bakery employees ( I was told it was the owner, not sure) was ranting and raving yelling F ":*you! F@%* you!, practically foaming through her mask. I got back in my car and got out of there ASAP. Apparently she was annoyed at a group that was exercising their Right to free speech peacefully. This is not fiction this is fact. Ask her. Honestly, not that great. The two stars are for the service, not the food. My mother ordered a chocolate croissant and I got a BEC on a croissant. The food is made to order so expect to wait a bit, that's fine. My BEC was decent but nothing special. Mother's chocolate croissant had very little chocolate and the actual pasty was dry, borderline stale. If you want pastries and breakfast things that have the taste like they would from any corner deli at obscenely high hipster prices, this is your place. This place is exactly that, a hipster place. Stopped by here after a trip to Rippers and was super happy about this new bakery opened in the Rockaways. The two women working there were super nice and helpful as far as picking out pastries. There were a bunch of choices but I settled on a red velvet whoopie pie, a pecan sticky bun, and two regular croissants. The whoopie pie was excellent although it didn't look like much. Tasted like red velvet should taste with a little bite to it and cream cheese frosting. The sticky bun was ok nothing to write home about but the croissants were amazing. Definitely the best ive ever had in my life. I can't recommend this place enough for the croissants, a must get if you are in the Rockaways. read more
