When i lost my job i lost dental insurance so i stopped going to the Dentist. I then moved to Pacifica and wanted a local dentist. A colleague recommended Rockaway Dental. I was nervous going after a few years hiatus, hoping there wouldn't be any major issues. My hygienist Angela was very courteous and thorough. She taught me how to properly floss, something you assume you would know at 40 yrs old. I am now a daily flosser and have healthy gums! I would recommend Rockaway Dental! read more

LOOVVEEEE this office! Every one is so nice and welcoming, especially the front desk ladies Victoria and Dora! They make sure you are taken care of and will help as much as they can to work out a payment plan. (Already really affordable) I came in for a wisdom tooth extraction and Dr Zin was phenomenal! Just incredible. The fact I feel good enough to even write this review just two hours after a wisdom tooth extraction is pretty awesome. Everyone in the clinic was a blast, and just fun to talk with, even if about the giant crater in my mouth that was a fractured wisdom tooth. You'd think I would dock them a star for having to take nearly a dozen xrays, but if anything i wish I could give them a sixth because the main problem was they paid TOO MUCH ATTENTION TO MY COMFORT! They didn't want to just jab the thing all the way in my mouth. I called them went in for an extraction, and walked out all in under 4 hours and THE PRICE! The price is what I would expect from my old small town dentist back in wisconsin, not an awesome facility in the rockaway beach. Just amazing. read more

My husband and I moved to Pacifica from Florida 8 months ago. I absolutely loved my dentist back in Florida and was trying not to feel bummed about having to find someone new that I trusted to the same degree and an office crew that I loved seeing as much as my dentist office in Fl. While I'm pretty easy going, I have some specific needs for my teeth (past trauma, root canals, cavities). I was happy to get a recommendation from my neighbor for Rockaway Beach Dental, but absolutely delighted to have such a warm welcome from everyone in the office and excellent care my first visit. I have had a couple of visits now and it's been a breeze and pleasure to go there because of the kindness is the staff and level of professionalism and care. The beautiful location isn't bad either. We have been going here since Dr Provost owned it. However, we have been patient with all the changes. The current receptionist is good, and the dentist is passionate and upfront about conditions. I have seen 4 different dentists in the past few years as they come and go. I guess a corporation is really the owner. Today's visit I was not expecting yet a new hygenist, as he poked and hurt my lip. But then at the end he tells me he really is a dentist too but works sometimes cleaning teeth. Our family has been coming to Rockaway Beach Dental for a few years now & experiences have been positive. Scheduling is easy, reminder calls given a few days before appointment, appointments are on-time & stick to allotted time frame. Recommendations are given for trouble areas as a means to prevent more involved treatments while also monitoring these areas for upcoming appointments. Even though this office has changed hands, I am so pleased they retained some familiar faces. You will never get a better cleaning than from Angela, the hygienist. She is thorough and caring. We joined this dental office because a respected, experienced dentist, Dr. Prevost was in the practice. Unfortunately for us he retired and the practice has passed to a newer younger group of dentists and assistants. Our experience has not been positive. The overriding sense is that they recommend more than is needed and charge more.After a visit with them (when the hygienist didn't even polish the teeth at the end, I had to see a highly experienced Periodentist who examined my teeth and gums carefully and who reported that the "deep cleaning" they said I had to have (costing a bundle, by the way) was not needed. Other procedures have been recommended that are also, at best, optional. While it may be a tiny detail: my husband was prescribed a special Dental Paste to enhance the finish on his teeth. They "sold" it to him at the office for $35 a tube. This product has a retail price of $18-25 at any dental supply. So, hold onto your wallets if you go there. On the plus side, the front office staff is very helpful and cheerful. And, they have free coffee. They also give away water bottles and promotional products. It's sad when dentistry gets to be all about the money. read more

Where should I start. My boyfriend had contacted them about wisdom teeth extraction for all 4 since he was in excruciating pain, he had cuts from him biting his own cheek because they were breaking through and infected! Yikes! So they made us go get x-rays that we spent $200.00 as well as a $41.00 cleaning we never did, anyways, we had set up an appointment on a Friday February 12, PERFECT! We were so ready for this to happen and stop the pain. We receive a confirmation text reminding us about it. We show up at 9 AM and no one was there, not even a fly. We called and called, left messaged, left a note on the door in case they might have been late. Nothing.... We waited around for about half an hour before giving up all hope. Later they called and said that he was the only appointment so they didn't want to go in. How unprofessional! I have never encountered something like this, why would they book him? After discussing things on the phone we decided to re-schedule since we've already spent money and time, so the new date was March 4th. So we waited patiently for his new appointment, in the mean time his second molar was shifting and his wisdom teeth were growing in worse than ever. On March 2nd they called and cancelled yet again! Furious, disgusted and outraged we made an appointment for the very next day at an extremely professional, clean and friendly dentistry team and that removed all four wisdom teeth out easy and breezy! I would never trust Rockaway Beach Dental, they're the most unprofessional waste of time business who end up doing way more harm than good. Don't know how they're in business still. Do not waste your time coming here. Very dishonest and sneaky how they do business. My wife called and asked if they took her insurance and they told her they did. It wasn't until after a cleaning and a filling did they tell her they did not accept her insurance and they had her pay privately. A month later they sent a follow-up bill for $75 more because they said they didn't charge enough. When I called and told them they should at least pay for the follow-up because they incorrectly told my wife they took her insurance, the person told me she would call me back by the end of the day. I never heard from them again. Very dishonest. DO NOT waste your time coming here, too many other options available. read more

I came here once and had so many billing problems with them! My mom and I each had an acct here and they kept getting our accts mixed up. They would always tell us that they fixed our accts but they never did. I was getting reminder calls and bills for her, she was getting mine. It was a mess. Tried to close my acct and they said I still have a balance after I already paid. They said they would mail it to me so I waited 1 month and never got it. Ended up having to just go in and pay it. The dentist was very nice and gentle when he filled my cavity but not worth dealing with the front office. read more

What's common among all the dentists I have ever seen? They all seem to agree that I don't take very good care of my teeth (sigh!). And what's not so common? That not all of them are as great as the dentists at Rockaway Beach Dental. My dental checkups were real nightmares, as it always ended up with some deep-cleaning, filling, crowning, extraction and me having a bloody and sore mouth for days. But it didn't seem so bad once I started seeing Desiree Strauss and Daniel Shertok. I had multiple appointments with Desiree for regular checkups and deep-cleaning. She was really nice, very professional, and definitely knew what she was doing (trust me on this, it's a great idea to give a chance to amateurs as long as they are not your dentist). I drink a bit much black coffee and tea that stained my teeth a lot, but she made it all nice and shiny within only couple of sittings. Before I came here one of my old fillings was giving me trouble, and I saw Daniel for fixing that. He took great care of me, the whole process was pretty quick and painless. I would definitely recommend him. And last but not the least, the moment you step in, you will be greeted by the very nice and friendly folks on the reception desk. You guys ROCK!! I used to loathe every aspect of going to the dentist, and have felt this way since I was a kid. The only enjoyable part that I remember was getting the fluoride treatments. Now, going to the dentist is a fun experience, particularly at Rockaway Dental. My dental hygienist is Angela, and she's the absolute best. She took the time to teach me how to floss correctly, and also explained the benefits of getting an electric toothbrush. She cleans my teeth very gently, patiently listens to any questions or concerns I have, and provides just the right amount of small talk to distract me from the sharp metal hooks moving around in my mouth. Even taking X-Rays of my teeth was a breeze. The office is clean, with good reading material while you wait, and the staff at the front is helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I'm glad that I've found a trustworthy office that has me looking forward to getting my teeth cleaned. read more

I've been a patient there for years and this is the best dentist office I've had. It was our first time there, and she was very informative and gave us good details. I really like that they have a payment plan if we don't have any insurance. Today was a new experience for me. No one is crazy about going to the dentist, and I am especially not crazy about meeting a new dentist. So this morning, with great trepidation I went for a first appointment at Rockaway Beach Dental Group. The dental hygienist, Angela, was full of information which was practical and very useful. Her technique for cleaning my teeth was gentle and efficient. I was put at ease. Then I met the dentist, Dr. Shertok, who is young and smart, and and obviously a very kind person. His use of digital x-rays made it possible for me to immediately see what he wanted to explain about my teeth. While he made suggestions for work I need to have done, I never felt like he was giving me a hard sell. I will definitely return to Rockaway Beach Dental, and I will tell my friends and family how delighted I am to find their office. read more

Very happy with Rockaway Beach Dental and how they care for my family. They are always calling me to make sure that all three of my children are up to date on their cleaning. They even consulted with me about hygiene with regards to my daughter's braces! It so happens that a couple days before my daughter Hailey was going to get her new brackets put on, Rockaway Beach Dental called because they noticed she hadn't had a cleaning in about a year. When I told them that she had an appointment with the Orthodontist in a couple days, they immediately brought her in THE SAME DAY to make sure she had a thorough cleaning before her new brackets were put on. Low and behold, she had 2 cavities oops!! They immediately fixed them the next day and she was able to get her brackets replaced with clean teeth. I've been going to Rockaway Beach Dental for some time now. I have multiple years of experience with the dental hygenist Angela as she predates Dr. Shertok. I love Angela and her wealth of advice and knowledge - even though I don't always follow her advice! Dr. Shertok is relatively new to this location and I do like him - a lot. He has been extremely patient with me regarding my inability to keep my jaw cracked wide open for long periods of time. I know I create a lot of extra work for him due to this and he even suggested a medical solution for my last crown. Wow, what a relief - and it helped! For what it's worth, I sought a second opinion regarding some proposed dental solutions and realized what a real gem Dr. Shertok is. Sometimes second opinions not only reinforce what is proposed - but also highlight the real worth of what you have in front of you. Hopefully you won't have to go through all this trouble to find out for yourself. read more
