Our uncle was laid up with a broken foot on top of all the quarantine restrictions on his 60th birthday. The rest of our family is all scattered across the southwest, nowhere near Spokane. We wanted to surprise him with a birthday cake, but were worried we wouldn't be able to make that happen with all the restrictions. These folks came through. Not only did they make him his favorite German chocolate cake, which he said tasted AMAZING, they also braved the craziness to deliver it and even sang him happy birthday. Located on a busy street the parking can be difficult and the outdoor seating, though tempting to sit in, face the busy road and paper mill across the street. The seating inside and the noise level would be pleasant for meet ups, studying or relaxing. The layout and efficiency is difficult as the pastries and sweets are at the front of the store and you order in the back so if you want multiple food items you need to memorize or run back and forth which I can see it being chaotic on a busy day. The pastries: no bake cookie lacked enough oats, too much sugar and tastes like peanut butter sugar glob. The ginger molasses cookie was ok, very sweet from the frosting but expected. Lemon poppy seed cake was overly frosted and sweet in addition to being very dry and crumbly. Not the best if taking to go to eat on a drive or keeping it off your lap. The lemon tart was tasty but also very sweet, it was hard to eat more than a couple bites (before going into a hyperglycemic episode). The wheat peanut butter cookie was good, harder than I like most cookies but flavor was great. It may sound critical but definitely pretty factual. I like the balance of sweetness with my pastries (I mean they are pastries after all) but overkill on the sugar and sweetness will make me turn away. read more

Nothing like standing in line and have 5 people cut in front of you and barista helps them first.....Yes, there are rude people out there.......seems like they are always short handed also...downtown always has at least 2 at all times.....I saw two people fine in and leave because of the line...barista very nice, it's not her fault...suggestions....more help read more

My favorite place to get a cup of coffee in Spokane! There are gluten free pastries available, too. And they're freshly baked. The atmosphere is nice, the baristas are knowledgeable, and the bathroom is somewhat clean. If you are used to espresso that tastes as good as it smells, this is the place to go!! read more

1st and last!!! 2 of the staff we're very nice. Quiche was cold and my daughter said the bread tasted like playdoh (and it did). There is 1 darker haired girl that is just a stuck up snob and probably the owners daughter. I will not be back because of her. She literally grabbed my shoulder to move me out of her way. Have been coming here for about 5 years and loved the place, great place to meet friends for coffee, but the last 3 times I have went the experience has not been good. This morning was the last visit I will ever have. My order would have been simple a piece of pumpkin bread, no coffee, but I was ignored while they helped other costumers some that arrived after me... when I asked for help I was told "that is not where the line is"... Coffee is good and their pastries are really nice but their quiche is fantastic. It is a delightful little place near the river and makes a great stop if you are riding or walking the Centennial Trail which is just a few blocks north. read more

Love the decor and relaxed environment! I met with a friend to do homework and the large tables are perfect for spreading everything out! I had a delicious triple soy latte and the quiche was huge! Love the rocket bakeries coffee, food, atmosphere. Something about this location I can't stand is the way you order and the line. The baristas should take your order at the beginning of the line, and you pay at the end. The way it works now is they wait for you to get to the register to order, then it's a cluster f$&k of people standing around the tiny area by the cash register. Then to top it off, the back door comes in by the cash register. So basically in the smallest area ever, you have people waiting to order, people who've paid and are waiting for their food/drinks, then people coming in the back door trying to figure out what's going on. If there is a line, we go somewhere else. Hopefully the owners read this and figure out a better system read more

Great little coffee shop! My husband and I were in town visiting from the Bay Area and stopped by Rocket Bakery. I had a delicious caramel latte and a slice of the blueberry cream cheese cake and my husband had an Americano. The atmosphere was nice and the girls working behind the counter were great, too! Server chatted with an impressive aptitude for customer service small talk and made me laugh several times. My friends and I used to frequent Rocket bakery for its pastries and atmosphere, but on more than one occasion have witnessed the management (owner? Name is Jeff I believe?) being extremely condescending and impatient with staff. This, along with a pervasive uncleanliness at locations (it looks like years of buildup of mold, flies, etc) has caused my friends and I (study group) to make the decision to move to other local coffee shops. This chain seems to have gone downhill. Baristas still seem nice and friendly, but also downtrodden by management to the point where I don't want my money to go there anymore. read more

The quality always seems spot on! However, if you're in a rush and they're slammed, The Rocket owns The Space Station drive thru just down the street where you can still get the amazing coffee and a good variety of goodies. read more

This place is absolutely wonderful. It has a very distinct and special atmosphere. The drinks are always made consistently and their food is SO yummy. They have a wide variety of bakery items that are always made to perfection. Their staff is always friendly...which is a rare thing to come across these days within Spokane coffee shops. They have a large seating area which is cozy enough to relax on your own or to enjoy with a group of friends or business partners. Their patio seating is wonderful as well.
