Tried Fergusons on a whim and really glad I did. I had the New York omelette which had the Sonneburg sausage, onion, green pepper and mushroom - it was excellent! Also, my toast came already with melted butter which was a nice touch (can't believe some places still don't butter their toast, but I get that some ppl would prefer they not do that). If you want to get away from Denny's-not knocking Denny's; they have their place in the restaurant industry-come here for a diner experience. Small, quaint and charming. The waiter staff are excellent. They will start a conversation with you if you engage. Very friendly. Even the cook-I was sitting at the bar-asked me how my meal was sitting. I told him-well, I did not actually say it-but I should have told him the hash browns were to die for! If I had just a tiny complaint, I would mention to fry up the browns a little crispier. (That's just me). I always order the chicken fried steak with eggs. Perfection. The correct temperature when served. And, they keep filling your coffee mug until you are wired and need to take a hike to burn off the energy! Anyway, you drink as much or as little as you want. Any time I'm hungry for breakfast food, I think of this place. Throwback decor, real waitresses, and energetic cooks. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, people are waiting to get in. We had breakfast at Fergusons cafe and it was delicious! The staff were efficient and friendly! The decor is an old school diner with movie memorabilia from Spokane filmed movies like Benny and Joon! We've wanted to eat at Ferguson's Cafe for awhile now. Finally made it in a few weeks ago. We were seated immediately and our server was super pleasant. I decided to try the Sonnenbergs sausage and to my delight it was delicious. I cleaned my whole plate. ( that doesn't happen often). They also have malted shakes which made my husband happy. That was also delicious. We really enjoyed our lunch. Can't wait to come back. Definitely worth a stop. Prices are moderate and affordable. A very Cozy atmosphere and welcoming. read more

In all my 50+ years in Spokane, I have never been to Ferguson's Cafe. The same cafe featured in Benny & Joon. I was out with my Mom today, running some errands and she tells me she really wanted a cherry shake. With that, we headed up to Garland. Our first plan was Mary Lou's Milk Bottle, but there weren't any seats, so we decided to try Ferguson's. Earlier in the day, she had also told me she really wanted "runny eggs with toast." Well, at Ferguson's she got that and her cherry shake. I ordered their Hammy Whammy. It was huge and messy. I couldn't eat it all, but it did have great flavor. Old school since 1941. I was checking out all the historic restaurants in the city and this one was on my bucket list. Several movies were filmed inside this restaurant. We stopped by for breakfast and it wasn't busy so we were seated quickly in a booth. The omelet and French toast were both delicious. read more

This place is a piece of Spokane history as well as being a great place for food. It has been featured in movies, and has been around a long time, providing lots of great food and memories for folks. The staff fly about the place but never act like they are rushing you. Great people who work very hard. This place has been updated several times, and after Covid barriers were put between each booth. Now they also provide a bit of noise dampening, which is nice. Now, the food. Sure, basic diner fare, but definitely not "basic". Large portions and great taste. All their meat is sourced locally from another Spokane bit of history (I won't drop names because I don't want to violate rules, but it is the oldest meat market in Spokane), and anything with the Italian sausage is especially awesome. They crush breakfast, but lunch and dinner are also great here. I can't say enough how great Ferguson's is. Just to note, lots of people know how great this place is so be ready for a wait, especially for breakfast on the weekends. read more

BY THE SERVICE TO THE FOOD. 1) service was awful ...waitress spilled the hot water on table with out cleaning up. She came back after a while to get order . I asked for Sauteed onion mix in hashbrowns & Gravy . it looked bad ...onion was thrown on side of Hashbrowns & gravy was RUNNY ....THE HASHBROWNS LOOKED & TASTE LIKE THOSE DEHYDRATED HASHBROWNS . IT WAS TASTELESS Along with gravy . after we finished the floor was so slick i could barely get up .my friend had to help me up . Great food, fast service, and overall great vibe of the place. This place has great, fast seating everytime I go, and they have some of the best pancakes and hotchocolate that I have ever tasted! Their servers, chefs, and table workers are great at keeping a happy mood, once saw a guy yelling about how bad his small stack of pancakes was (he was lying) and the waitresses all kept smiles, and kept on asking him to calm down and take it up with the manager. read more

We ordered carry out. The person that answered our call and took order was very nice. Showed up a few minutes before it was ready and order was correct. Shakes were really good. The hamburger steak with onions didn't have any onions on it and was disappointed as that was why I ordered it. Mashed potatoes and gravy were good. Real mashed potatoes! The vegetables was corn that had been cooking for a long time. Burger and fries were good, nothing special! Chicken fried steak wasn't bad but nothing special either! First-timers at Ferguson's Cafe and it was enjoyable. According to my kids, the highlights of our table was the French toast and hash browns! The French toast was fluffy/custardy and hit the spot. The hash browns had a good crisp to them and were even better with the gravy and onions on them. I had a new menu item, the steak bites. The bites were good and had a marinade that left them with a little sweetness and saltiness (soy sauce maybe). But, to my kids they weren't a fan, maybe because they weren't expecting it. But, if you like a marinated meat it was good. My hubby and daughter's boyfriend got the triple meat omelet. They both ate the whole thing so no complaints there! Ferguson's is a cool diner with a bit of nostalgia. I was mostly pumped I got to sit in the booth below the Benny & Joon poster (a scene was filmed here!). I wish i could choose 0 stars. As a small business owner myself, i've always chose to support small businesses in my area. Fergusons being one i've supported and taken my family to for years. Today, I went in for a casual short business meeting with my business partner and was yelled at by the Chef and our staff waiter after 45 minutes of being seated, to "get out, because there's other people waiting" and that we couldn't do business there. I've never been rushed out of a restaurant before like this, and as a previous server, i was shocked as that is not how any dine in experience should be. I had heard Ferguson's had the best hash browns, so we decided to do some research ourselves. I wouldn't say they have the best hash browns but you can order them crispy. Ferguson's is a really cute, old fashion diner. The breakfast combos come with a lot of food. I did enjoy the pancakes and biscuit. However the Benny & Joon Malt definitely stole the show! Ferguson's Café is everything a "neighborhood" diner should be. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a real flavor of the "Happy Days" era. The waitress and cook share duties, wisecracking and currying comfort with the "local" diners. During my visit on a Thursday evening, the joint was busy with happy/chatty locals enjoying the food and atmosphere. The menu is built on comfort food staples from breakfast thru dinner. Solid diner with friendly service and retro atmosphere. Interestingly enough the retro feel is authentic, this place has quite the history (see menu). They serve breakfast all day so I was immediately intrigued. Plus they are known for their milkshakes and malts. The milkshake was delicious and served in an oh so cute fountain glass. The French toast hit the spot, bonus points for warm maple AND blueberry syrup. I stuck with the classic maple but it was nice to have a choice. The coffee was exactly as it should be in a diner setting, bottomless and hot. My husband had a burger and fries and was just as happy. What has happened to Ferguson's???? I stopped by for breakfast this morning. I ordered the bisquits and gravy combination. The bisquits and gravy were the horrific!!!! the gravy was a white watery tasteless substance. with a tiny bit of pepper and no sausage what so every. Well except for the what was either a peiced of a small pieced of a still partially frozen sausage link or someones severed finger. The bisquits were flat and doughy. TERRIBLE. I ended up racing home with explosive diarrhea. NEVER GOING BACK!!! Not going to risk food poisening at that crap hole ever again!!!!!! Decided to try this breakfast spot again after few years and not disappointed. The owner who is also the main cook ran another breakfast joint on the South Hill for years. I order the New York breakfast scramble that included the Italian style sausage made by Sonnenberg's.
