IMHO Do you like nurseries with a HUGE warehouse and variety of plants? Then head over to Rocket Farms in Half Moon Bay. This is a wholesale nursery but the public can visit and buy at retail prices. When you go through the gate, you'll drive on a dirt road past rows and rows of semi-circular covered greenhouses filled with growing plants galore! Keep driving up to the large warehouse building, park and go up the stairs. You'll be amazed at how big this place is. Not only do they sell a huge variety of plants, but you'll also find a huge selection of pottery and accessories. It was fun to just walk around and take it all in. I ended up buying two little orchid plants ($9.99 each). There were so many to choose from! Credit only, no cash. Yes, I will return!

Rocket farms has a wide variety of plants, succulents, baskets and planters. It's always great to come to this place to find new items for the shop. All the plants we purchase here are healthy and well taken care of. Only con is the business hours and days.

Some rules to know: You can only make a purchase if you are licensed reseller so bring your CA permit You have to have an account on file to make a purchase but you can fill out an application the same day Do your research. I think some of the prices are pretty high but they are overall the center for wholesale plants. Map directions beforehand because you can easily drive right past the main showroom because the highway is pretty busy and everyone behind you is driving fast. The hours on Yelp are not accurate they are open on Saturdays until noon.

He threw his cap at the floor, walked away from us at the register, and tried ignoring us to make us go away while there were others in line. I asked him not to raise his voice at us too. This was after he had charged us more than what was stated on the price tag of the bouquet. We paid it since wanted that bouquet in particular. This exchange overall felt very disrespectful. We had bought 10 peonies here for $67 dollars. The peonies here are $30 a bunch (5 pc). This is quite overpriced, as they are resold from another vendor. The quality of the flowers was also not great. One bunch of peonies had mold growing on it, meaning it had been there for awhile. We have bought fresher peonies at Whole Foods before. I don't recommend -- buying flowers here ruined my day, and that's the opposite point of buying flowers.

Their inventory is dominated by your typical cultivars of philodendrons, anthuriums, pothos, etc. Most of these plants are widely available at garden centers and other plant stores. Even the carnivorous plants and staghorn fern they had are varieties I've commonly seen elsewhere. They also carry spray painted tillandsias, a practice I dislike because it obscures the plant's natural appearance and is something I generally associate with novelty retail rather than horticulture. I visited hoping to find some unique specimens, such as uncommon orchids, metallic leaved begonias, rocklike pseudolithos, or other harder to find collector plants. Casual indoor plant owners would probably find this store adequate, but I'd recommend those looking specifically for rare or unusual plants to skip this place. Update: Soon after writing this review I got a very emotionally charged message from the owner who mentioned that my review is a "public dig" and asked "Is it your goal to damage a women owned and run small business?". It leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I leave an honest respectful review (all I did was highlight who this store would be good for!) and I get a response like that. Especially ending in her saying "I hope you have a better day than I now will have". It's all very unprofessional.

First visit to Crimson Horticultural Rarities on Piedmont Ave but a frequent visitor to their former location in the Temescal Neighborhood and bought my first air plant about 10 years ago. Ended up with a Swiss Cheese plant (monstera adansonii) kokedama which is the Japanese art of growing plants in a moss-covered ball which is definitely a conversation piece. Pricing on the higher side so I visit for the unique arrangement or rare plant I haven't found. Crimson Horticultural Rarities also provides full service event arrangements and indoor plant design for your place.

I worried something had happened, and hoped he was okay, but found Alma Hecht (Second Nature Landscaping), who did a lovely job...although, sadly, she passed away some years later. Since then, we've done most of the gardening work ourselves. Update: Now we're seniors and can't do all of the gardening. In 2022, I learned that Elliot had opened a garden center next to Bay Natives. So in early 2023 he finally came back to give us an estimate on both front and back garden improvements. He spent plenty of time with us, especially in the back. About a month later, we got a $200 invoice for his time/consult re: plantings, irrigation, setting up work, etc., which we gladly paid. However, now it is May 6th, and have yet to receive any actual estimate. We would have totally understood if he'd just said, "Sorry, I can't take on your job, I'm too busy," up front. But instead we've been left hanging. Disappointed! Guess we'll move on to find someone else who wants to do the work.

Before working with Jeffrey, and shortly after spending a hefty price on several plants - the oxalis was relentless, taking over the totality of our yard. The weed barriers we installed before planting were no match at all. We hired Jeffrey to eradicate the oxalis and maintain the yard. Jeffrey carefully and lovingly moved each of our plants to temporary pots, dug up the clover and sheet mulched our entire yard. He also saved two trees that were suffering from mold from poor planting, and has performed other key rescue efforts that have preserved our plants. He is now doing a great job maintaining our yard with regular pruning, shaping, replanting, addressing trouble spots as they arise, recommending native sustainable plants and taking out the - very occasional - weed that still pops up! He was also instrumental in our water design. I could not recommend Jeffrey enough! Grab him if he's not too busy already!
