We have been bringing our pets to Pomona Animal Hospital for the past 9 years, and they truly recieve incredible care and undivided attention from all of the staff and the vets are just incredible!!!!! We moved from Rockland to NYC in 2010, and I dragged my heels trying to find a new vet for our babies. We stayed with Pomona Animal Hospital despite the long drive. Recently our we noticed our lab had a very distended stomach and we knew that he needed medical attention fast, so we called our new local vet and we were able to get in right away, so we took our lab to the new vet ( they were nice enough, but it just wasn't the same), they drew blood work and referred us to get an ultra sound ( it wasn't so easy to make an appointment but a little over a week later we got the appt- and a week after that we got the results...a mass that needs to be removed... A little inconclusive, so we had the report faxed to the new vet (who made the referral) and Pomona Animal Hospital-(mind you it was a Saturday afternoon) Dr. Puzio reviewed the notes and called me (we actually played phone tag) after hours to discuss the results) we decided to re do the ultra sound with Dr. Byman for that Wednesday (the new vet called me after my 2nd ultra sound was already completed) Needless to say we had surgery with Dr. Byman Thursday morning,and the two hospitals coordinated so beautifully and kept us in the loop the entire time. Now our boy is home and doing awesome!!! We have always had pets and they have never recieved such wonderful care as they have with Rockland Veternary, plus they take great care off the humans too! I asked for record of my animal to be sent email to to another vet...Still waiting? My dog is very much sick and I need this information ASAP. the cost of the medicine for my dog was outrageous. They charged double of what the meds cost. Nothing kind about this place. No estimate, no email.... Thanks for what? My $$$$$$ If you really need help, I would not go here. Don't go to this unprofessional inconsiderate office! I had a 4pm appointment for my cat who was in pain. I got there at 3:45. At 4:40 pm we were called into an examination room where my cat was weighed and we then waited to see a Dr. While we waited, all we heard was laughing and joking. We're sitting in an examination room for an hour and they're just having a good old time like they're at a party while my poor cat is suffering!! So we waited and waited! At 5:30 pm still no vet came to our room but I could hear that other rooms that came after us had been visited by the vet. My cat is white but I'm black and I'd hate to think it was racial but an older white woman came in with her cat 40 minutes after us and her cat was seen before ours. When we were leaving, there were the same chatty unprofessional women now laughing and joking at the front desk. They should be ashamed! read more

Took my dog there for not eating and throwing up. They took 2 X-Rays for a price tag of $487.00 That the price even if there was 4 X-Rays. And then there's another charge of Radiograph, STAT Fee of $189.00 and no one said it would cost this much before hand. BEWARE X-Rays here are Very Very expensive. Yesterday was another sad day for us as we allowed our dog Dryfus to be brought into heaven so that he would continue a great quality of life he deserves in heaven with his brother Enzo. Dr. Bridget Puzio handled the matter with such care and grace that words can't explain my gratitude. Furthermore, Dr. Christopher Puzio gave us an additional year to spend with our baby thanks for antibiotics and thyroid meds that I know helped prolong his life this past year. It is sad when the time comes to let your family member go, but I would not choose another veterinary hospital to handle my babies. Thank you for all you do. read more

I adopted my dog from HI-Tor animal shelter. She had been hit by a car and her back leg had been crushed and wrapped up with electrical tap by her owners. There wasn't much hope of keeping her leg but Dr. Puzio believed that it could be possible. He took xrays and found, after consultation with other Doctors on his staff, that if her leg were splinted and since she was young that she would have a good chance of regaining use of her leg. He did not want, however, to keep the leg if it were going to be too painful for her. To make a long story short, after several casts, a skin graft and one toe amputation, you can't even tell that she ever had a problem with her leg. People can't believe that it is the same dog that first came into the rescue scared and in horrible pain! If it had not been for Rockland Veterinary I firmly believe that my dog would either have been put down or have lost her leg. I only wish all the veterinary hospitals that I have been to over the years were as good as this one. read more

I have dealt with Dr Friedman for many years and many pets. You cannot find a more qualified or compassionate person to care for your pet. He has joined forces with this Vet center and I trust his decision. We just had to put one of our cats down and the entire staff was nothing but great. They treated My wife and I and our cat with the most of respect. The ashes were returned within a week and they had a lovely sentimental card with it. I cannot say enough about this staff read more

What an awesome staff. Dr. Puzio is fantastic! I've never seen a doctor with such enthusiasm. My puppy was sick, and the doctor followed up by calling my phone and leaving me his personal number to ask how she was doing because he would be off from work for a few days (not even my doctor would do this kind of stuff..). You will not find a better vet in the county. We ended up at Pomona Animal Hospital because we fostered a dog through Hi Tor and they used Dr. Puzio. We met him once, left our other vet and never looked back. Dr. Puzio is one of a kind. He is the kindest most compassionate person. I can not say enough about him. When one of my dogs was cut accidentally by his groomer, Dr. Friedman (I had never met him before) stayed late to wait for me with other staff members and took care of my dog. He was so caring and patient. I went back the next day for a recheck and realized they never even billed me for the emergency visit. They just rolled it all together. Dr. Puzio and Staff are amazing. I have had my three dogs in their care since I adopted them. Two are rescues that were in grave condition and are now thriving. My first, Michael is an amazing 13 years young. After a few months of him being sluggish and a drastic change in his moods, I brought him to Dr. Puzio. The veterinary services here are top notch and the staff are all caring people. Dr Christopher Puzio is both professional and friendly. He takes the time to explain not only the pet's condition, but also whatever options are available for treatment. When I had to euthanize one of my dogs, Dr Puzio came to the house and rendered the service here in a very gentle way. Dr Puzio is a wonderful, compassionate veternarian. He has provided medical care for my two dogs. One of my dogs is a 12 year old golden retriever. I know that his life has been extended and he has great quality of life due to Dr Puzio. My dog needed surgery last year. The staff at Pomona Animal Hospital are beyond great! We recently moved here from California and one morning our Great Pyrenees woke up with a severe limp. I looked online for a vet and found great reviews for the Pomona Animal Hospital. I called and we were able to get Apollo in that same morning. When we arrived, the staff showed so much care and compassion for Apollo that we felt satisfied he was in good hands. When Dr. David Freedman met with Apollo and us, he impressed us by asking questions and actually listening to us. What was more impressive was the way he "spoke" with Apollo. While the doctor was examining Apollo, Apollo did everything Dr. Freedman needed. (If you know Great Pyrs, you know that they can be stubborn and don't follow commands at all.) Dr. Freedman found what was causing the limp, and Apollo is now doing much better! We've also been back and seen Dr. Puzio, who is just as exceptional as Dr. Freedman! This place is the only place to take your pet. They are caring, compassionate, and competent. I wish there were 10 stars to give. read more

After a few bad experiences with another Veterinary Hospital, we decided to look for a new vet. We have two English Mastiffs and want the best for them. We have received excellent care by the surgeon and from all 3 Vets. We especially love Dr. Puzio - he goes the extra mile and takes a personal interest in the owner as well as the pet. This animal hospital has given us the best experience we've ever had with a vet. Dr. Puzio is not only so sweet but very informative. He was very patient with our questions and was very knowledgeable. He explained everything to us in a way our previous vet never did. Dr. Christopher Puzio and his compassionate staff brought the puppy nature back to our 7 year-old mutt Dozer. Dr. Puzio diagnosed a tumor and the recommended surgeon (Dr. Dillon) removed it. Dozer was back home that evening after removal of an almost 3 lb lipoma. He was chasing squirrels with 48 hours and is prancing like a puppy again. Dr. Dillon had repaired Dozer's torn ACL about 6 months before. He recovered quickly from that surgery also and it is difficult to determine which leg was injured. We highly recommend Rockland Veterinary and particularly Dr. Puzio. Dozer still licks his face every time he gets the chance! read more

I can never say enough nice things about the doctors at Pomona and North Rockland Animal Hospital - excellent care - Dr. Byman is an excellent surgeon. My little Miss Moo had operation for bladder stones and has been in excellent condition ever since. Most recently my older cat Ollie was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was given some anti nausea medications and started eating almost immediately. These are top quality doctors and staff at both of these locations that I am extremely familiar with. read more

He would care for the fosters with as much compassion and expertise as I see with my own fosters turned family pets. My experience with Pomona Animal Hospital was that both Dr. Puzio and the staff were unprofessional and the facility was not clean. I adopted a Start II kitten, and Dr. Puzio has an arrangement with Start II to provide free spays for the adopted kittens. This is the only reason I used this facility. In hindsight, I regret not using my regular vet (Suffern Animal Hospital) and paying the full price of the spay. He actually seems to have done good job with the spay itself, but there were many other problems. As recommended by Start II, I took the our new kitten to this facility on two separate occasions before the spay for her shots. By the time I took her back for her spay a few months later, she and my other two INDOOR cats had fleas. This is the first time in my 23 years of cat ownership that any of my indoor cats have had fleas -- and I've had 5 different cats at various times. I am not sure where these fleas came from, but it seems that the only viable possibilities are that the new kitten picked them up at this vet, or one of my other cats who had dental surgery during the same time period picked them up at our regular vet. However, I have been using our regular vet for six years without incident. Further, on my last visit to Pomona Animal Hospital, one of the staff took me into a treatment room to meet with Dr. Puzio, and while I stood there waiting for the doctor, I noticed saw large, bloody paw prints all over the floor, indicating that they do not clean their rooms between patients. I asked Dr. Puzio about it and he admitted that they were bloody paw prints and apologized. In addition, the spay surgery was scheduled for early in the morning, but because they did not perform it until late in the afternoon, our kitten came home still crazed from the anesthesia, which was traumatic for her and us. Also, the office staff did not call me all day, when they said they were going to call me in the late morning. I was a little panicky as a result, not only because I didn't get a call, but because I didn't get a good feeling from this facility the first two times I brought the kitten for the shots. I was kicking myself all day for taking her back for the spay,against my better judgment. On top of all that, they sent me home with a bottle of amoxicillin for the kitten, but because they did not screw the cap on tightly after mixing it, half of it spilled out of the bottle on the way home. When I took it back the next morning for a replacement, they wanted to charge me for the new bottle! Dr. Puzio told me that he needed to charge me again because I got the spay for free. I made the point that one thing had nothing to do with the other. Then he also said that he gave me a few pain pills for free. I said I didn't know that, and I'd be glad to pay for those pain pills, but that it was not fair to charge me $25 for another bottle of amoxicillin (for which my regular vet charged $17) when it was their fault that it spilled. I also told him that I was going to write an internet review of my unpleasant experience with his practice, at which point he finally agreed to give me a replacement medication without charge. Now it's a month later, and I still feel a responsibility to write this review because I think other people should have the benefit of this information. Then again, this was just my experience, and Dr. Puzio made the point that he recently took over ownership of this hospital and they were still in a transitional phase. So maybe this veterinary practice will improve and your experience will be different. read more

Even though I worked there personally with them and work at a dif vet clinic now I still bring all my dogs cat and ferrets to them when they need something done. The best staff and I love all of them to death! but they always give my animals the best care ever and i trust my pets life in there hands. Cuz over the many yrs they have witnessed the loss of many of my pets have saved many pets and i kno i use a false name but if it werent for dr byman and dr puzio my baby girl penny would not be here with me and she is my other half they and are always there for not only me but all the clients. read more
