Rude staff at gate. They don't know what's going on and don't care. Park rules are not enforced. Loud parties running very late at night. Sites with 10 or more cars in them. Trash everywhere. Bathrooms ate disgusting and showers don't really work. A lot of the site pads are crumbling away. Just all round crappy campground. I would easily pay a lot more $ to stay at a well run campground than this dump. read more

I just love Hickory Creek! Beautiful RV sites on Lake Lewisville. The friendliest people stay here. The sites are large and many have wonderful shade. We take our Airstream here 4-5 times a year since it is about an hour from our home. The office is very strict about the 3:00 check in time so do not arrive early. The park bathrooms need some definite repairs and attention. This is a very popular COE Park so reservations fill up quickly. I am sure you will love it! read more

I'd likely come back and stay here, but only after the construction on the highway to get there is complete. It didn't cause any noise once at the park, but it made it quite difficult to get there especially towing a camper! The site itself was really clean and friendly. We arrived early so our site wasn't vacant yet. We parked by the lake and I went in and used their public showers. Having a camper I've been spoiled and. It had to use public showers in years, but if they were all like this one I'd use them more often! They were clean, no lines, plenty of room to put stuff down without it getting soaked, and. Ew shower curtains that weren't filthy and actually closed for privacy. The sites themselves were large so you have enough room to throw the ball around without bothering your neighbors. Plenty of places to walk around and also playgrounds for the kiddos. The only caution I have is that they essentially have a curfew... yup a curfew. I understand it's for safety reasons, but didn't realize that you couldn't get back into the park after 11pm... so don't be out late or need to run to the store for smores ingredients. You can get out of the park at any time, but the gate to get in closed and he only way back to your site is the park and walk... which would be long the way the park is setup. Stopped by the park last Saturday to see if I could drive through and find some camp sites to reserve that would fit my needs. Was told they do not allow drive throughs during weekends and was told to come by Monday through Thursday. I drove over today (Thursday) and was denied entry by a different person. While I understand concerns about safety, I don't think it is too much from a customer service perspective to allow someone who wishes to view the park entry. They could have ridden with me, or escorted me, but now I'll never stay there. Where has customer service gone? read more

Great campground. Negative is no sewer connections (dump station as you leave). But everything else is great. Very friendly staff. Very friendly front gate. Lady at front guided our guests to our campsite. It was my mother's 92nd birthday and there was no extra charge for visitors to come in for party. The front gate was always smiling and helpful. Bathrooms were clean and neat. Sites very pretty with heavy woods and space between with deer thru out campsites. We will be back to this spot. We stayed in 093 and had lots of room. We stayed in January and on a cold night they came around to let us know to keep water dripping or they would help us disconnect and drip at facet. Very polite and helpful. We loved campground and staff. Great place to try and very cheap. read more

This park is kind of hard to get to, but it's on the Northern part of Lake Lewisville, and Northwest of 1-35E. A big group of us rented out a spot right off the lake and camped out for the weekend. Our reserved camp site, that we had a reservation for from 4 months ago, was given away probably to some douche-bag that bribed one of the park guys. Nevertheless, we got another site nearby, but with more of a walk to the lake. :-/ Our area of the campgrounds actually had a restroom/shower facility, so that was cool; bring tp just in case! The boat ramps are in the park. If you're going on a holiday weekend, make sure you get there early so you can park your truck and boat trailer by the ramp instead of at your campsite. ** If you have people leaving the park at night after 10PM, the gates are locked, but there's another exit to the north of the main entrance; its got road spikes, so don't try to come back in until the morning, unless you want flat tires. read more

Our pull-through site (074) was easy to get into and level. It was a bonus that is was next to a pretty, wooded overlook on the water. We were glad the park office was open until 9:00 to check-in. read more

I stayed at this campground for a few days, here are the pros and cons! Pros: We saw lots of wildlife!....a coyote, a hawk, a crane, ducks, and rabbits. The restrooms/showers were nice and clean. Playground on site. Lots of walking/hiking trails (some dirt and some were cement), boat ramp, dock, water and electric hookups. Cons: venomous copperhead snake was found two feet away from us in the middle of our campsite at night (we would not have known it was there if it wasn't for our dog). This was concerning because my toddler niece and the small dog had been walking right though that area. It was right next to our picnic table. Our campsite had a lot of dried leaves that made an ideal environment for the copperhead. There is not a real "beach" area, its red clay and not sandy or as gradual as I would have liked for a toddler to play in, I did not see any roped-off swim area. If you check out late they will charge you for another night even if you are just a few hours late and do not stay the night. read more

I've stayed at several Texas park campgrounds & this one is the most satisfying. The pull-through spaces are wide & long for easy turns; the lake is clean with many bird species; exploration along the shore is safe for pets & kids; the check-in folks were friendly & helpful. Overall, a pleasant, relaxing stay right on the lake. Well done! read more

A great place to stay in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. The sites are large and level, there are several facility buildings with clean, accessible showers and toilets. It looks like there are several hosts throughout the campground. We had the choice of lots of open sites here for 4 nights in late November, with water and 50 amp hookups. 15/night with the Interagency Senior Pass. What a deal! There is noise from the planes, but most campgrounds are by an airport or railroad track, aren't they? The noise didn't bother us. Just be aware that the gate is locked at 10 pm, so don't be late getting back. We would definitely stay here again. read more

On January 1, 2012 a ridiculous price increase took effect. The same sites that used to run $16/18 are now $28/30. This is a decent enough park but to almost double the rates overnight is absurd. I won't be camping here anymore. read more

My boyfriend and I tried to go camping here and will definitely never go back, which is unfortunate. When we got there we asked for primitive tent camping specifically and he said it was all $30, we thought that was a lot but it was getting dark so we paid and got a spot. When we drove over we realized the spot was for RV parking, which is not what we needed so we circled back. We mentioned the mistake and asked for a switch, they then told us the primitive campgrounds were permanently closed, which they never said before. So he said if we could at least have a refund since there was a misunderstanding. She said there was a sign saying no refund, but there was not and we were never told. When my boyfriend pointed out that they told us there was a spot for us and basically scammed us (in the nicest way possible) she threatened to call the hickory creek police and became extremely disrespectful. The man was nice, but very slow, and the woman was very rude. We were not being disrespectful. They offered a check by mail, even thought we paid cash, that would come after a week. They at least need a sign saying it's closed. read more

Lots of airplanes flying over. I-35 is a bit close and can be heard clearly from various sites within the park. Otherwise, it's a beautiful park. It's well maintained and has plenty of room between each camp site. Fun to watch the wildlife also. read more
