When you walk in, it has really cool photos of NFL and NBA greats!! Matt and his coworker are wearing gloves and sanitizing between clients which is great! They are also ONLY taking appointments and take cash only! (They do have a ATM machine inside in case you need cash). Matt did a CLEAN job on my fade! He did a medium/high fade with a 5 on top!! He takes his time does a really clean fade.... one of the best fades I've ever got! He also cleaned up the lines and edges with a razor which I love! It's a long standing tradition (50+ years) for the boys in our family to get their first haircut on their first birthday at a traditional barber shop. It started with me when I turned one. Then I took my 29 year old son to the barber on his first birthday, and I'm doing it all over again with my one-year-old son; the only problem was his bday fell on a Sunday, so we had to do it on Saturday as every barber shop I checked with was closed on Sundays. I'm glad we picked this shop. It's very nostalgic. The only thing missing from my childhood memory is the cigarette smoke. And that's probably a good thing! Barber Tim did a great job! The little boy haircut my son got turned out fantastic. My baby turned into my little boy in a matter of about 20 minutes. Barber Tim was patient with our son and knew exactly how to handle him. My son gets his hair cut by Kelly, and she does a very good job with his hair. On his last hair cut he wanted it to be a little bit shorter. I called in a couple of days after the haircut and Kelly was not in, but Matt agreed to to take the extra hair off. Matt took us in right away, and did not charge us for the additional trim. Let me start by saying I have a 6 year old little boy with Autism. Haircuts are one of his hugest fears and are generally a dreadful experience. But with him starting first grade I knew it was time to cut his much overgrown locks. In search of a place that would cut kids hair I started to drive around Rocklin and came across Rocklin Barber Shop. I was very hesitant as my sons reactions and behavior can vary in severity when it comes to doing things he doesn't like to do. We stopped first to get some starburst and headed into the shop. Tim was the barber available and welcomed us. I gave him a little history on our luck thus far when it came to haircuts and he assured me he was up for it. It was such a smooth and effortless process. He explained each step and what it felt like before he would start. He made my son feel at ease and even offered to use tools that weren't as loud to make things easier. He would update us and asked me along the way if I wanted to change and/or fix anything. Took my sons here after a friend recommended this place. The waiting area has the little toy/candy machines kids love so bring change! There is also a children's table with games for them to play while waiting. My sons were entertained the whole time and felt so special in Matt's chair. My older son felt important as Matt talked to him and asked him questions, whereas most places just talk to each other or ignore kids. I have taken my son to countless places to find the right barber. Every where from specialized kids salons, trendy Instagram barbers and even chain shops. After five years I think we found our go to spot! I cant believe it took me this long considering they are walking distance from my house and on the same street as my sons school. Yay for proximity!! We came in ten a.m on a Saturday and all three chairs were full- great sign! We waited maybe 2 minutes before they were ready for my son. Anthony got the middle spot, Mr. Tron. Don't let his "looks" full you, he was super sweet and patient with my son. He was gentle, precise and best of all he was quick! We were in and out of there in less than 20 minutes. My main problem with hair cuts, especially boys haircuts, is not knowing what works best for my sons hair. Mr. Tron listened to my gripes and looked at the pictures of what I like and gave my son a perfect fade. At the end he even gave my son a lollipop! For the shop it self it is super accessible, parking in the front and back. Old style barber feel. They only take cash or check and the have an atm on site. Walk ins only! Can't help but feel like I just got ripped off. I have long hair so I only needed a clean up. On his sign it says "neck and beard clean ups -8$" but he ended up charging me 20$. The guy took about 10 minutes to cut my hair (we were watching judge Judy and she hadn't even gotten through one case yet). Then finished in a hurry and left stubble all under my neck. I know everyone loves this place so maybe I just had a bad experience the one time? Seemed like a clean place and he was the only one in there but the place was dead. Not sure if this is the usual but I probably won't be going back there again. I haven't ever paid more than 10$ for a clean up that last only 10 minutes to do. Kind of annoying but live and learn. Didn't have enough experience with this place to recommend or not. read more
