My boyfriends gone here twice recently. Once in August and once in September just now. Both times he asked for a fade in the back and both times came out uneven and poorly done. He even asked for a different barber and the new barber also did a poor quality job. Its painfully uneven from the back and looks like a mullet hack job. Its disappointing that he spent the time & money to give to this business only for them to continually disappoint. He's a nicer person than I am, so thats why I'm leaving the review on his behalf. He'll be going to a different barbershop moving forward. I actually can't tell if they are sabotaging him im not even kidding. Found Vinyl Rock Barber Shop on Yelp. I walked in yesterday Oct 25th and Riley " Razor Handz" Porter immediately greeted me with a smile. Asked if I had an appointment, which I didn't, and said she was booked the whole day and offered her business card to set up an appointment for today Oct 26th. I set up the beard trim appointment which was fast and easy and added a facial/ deep cleanse. This service was on Riley Razor Handz service menu so I gave it a shot and OOOMMGEEE. The process was relaxing and my face feels fresh and brand new. I'm definitely coming back. My beard trim is exactly how I requested when Riley Razor Handz asked. Great atmosphere with throw back arcade games and a drum set to beat on. Music vibed with the scene. Definitely recommend Riley Razor Handz Porter. Came here tonight rushing in the rain for a 5:15-6pm scheduled haircut for my teen. Tried calling as we were a few minute late (less than 10 minutes) and no one answered. Got here lights were off the place is closed. Pretty terrible I don't recommend this place at all. Super disappointing especially for people who work and have to schedule around that. I often check Yelp reviews, but rarely leave them. I've been dropping into Vinyl Rock over the last few years when I come to town. If I'm overdue for a haircut, I'll wait the extra week or two to get my hair cut here, instead of my local barber. My scheduled appointments have always been with Mike, and he does a fantastic job. Mike also cuts my young son's hair and does amazing with him. Anyone who has small children knows how hard it is to keep them still to get a good cut. I've done one drop-in, when I didn't have time to schedule, and got a cut from another barber that also came out great. Would recommend. read more

Don't go to this shop if you have things like a job, plans, kids, etc. a couple of months ago I scheduled an "appointment" a month ahead and showed up 10 minutes before my time, only to have someone that had been waiting get sat down right when my appointment time was. just right now, I had an "appointment" at 3 that I scheduled a month in advance and I showed up at 2:55 only for him to finish the dude he was just cutting and told me he has one ahead of me... i scheduled my job around this, I'm supposed to be back at a decent time. I'm not able to sit around an hour from my "appointment" time to then have to delay my return to work. turns out this establishment is no different from all the other failed shops that have been in the same complex. I would do yourself a favor and try to get a cut at Doonans off Foothills or Scissors & Blades on Vernon Street as the only reason I didn't go back to those is because I couldn't get an appointment within the time that I would need for my vacation. read more

Vinyl Rock is the best! Such a cool vibe inside the store - including vintage cassette tape backsplash on the walls and a huge collection of records to scan as you wait. I've been taking my 2-year-old son here to get a proper cut for the last year - and the staff is so patient with kids. They've clearly built a big following, so you may have to wait a bit. But c'mon... 5-stars is worth the wait. Oh, and if you happen to be a former jam-session-junkie, they've also got a full set of band gear plugged in for you while you wait. I met the owner at a local craft fair and he painted an amazing picture of his barbershop and I knew my family and I had to go there. When we finally got there it was so much better than we anticipated. The whole place was so warm and welcoming. The amazing art and chill music made me feel like this place was designed just for me. The arcade was a fun distraction for my kids while they waited for their haircut. You can really see the love that was put into this place. This place really shows how important it is to support small businesses. You can't find anything like this in a corporate owned chain store. Find the time to come here. Brought my 15 year old in to see Casey today. We had a 2pm appointment and he was on time, friendly, and listened to exactly what they wanted. After being to a few other places it looks like we found a great place. The atmosphere, look, and people were friendly and gave off a great vibe. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. My daughter tends to be on the nervous side, and Ashley was very kind and patient with her, walking her through, listening to her, asking her questions and making sure she understood exactly what she wanted. Every single time I book an appointment they either no show or cancel 30 minutes before hand. Typically they just no show. Literally 4 out of 5 appts they have no showed and once the girl was about 30 min late. They clearly don't care about anyone else's time. So frustrating!!! read more

Best haircut of my life. I came here on a recommendation from a friend and asked for Shaun, the incredibly friendly and knowledgeable owner of Vinyl Rock. I had no particular style in mind at the time, and asked him to just go for whatever he thought would look best. Shaun, after discussing a few ideas, straight up invents a hairstyle on the fly, and it was the best haircut of my life. Shaun's genius lies in his intuitive understanding of facial structures, and how angles, weight, degrees of fade, and everything in between work in concert to bring out the best in your face; stuff I'd never known about or even considered before! I've now been here at least half a dozen times, and every time it's been perfect, not to mention the great energy him and his staff bring. This place has a great vibe. The owner, Shawn is always very friendly and easy to talk to. This was the third time I took my 4 year here in a year and I've never been disappointed. They are very good with children and I highly recommend this shop for all ages. We've had both Shawn and Jessica cut my son's and Husband's hair and we always walk out highly pleased. Found this shop while doing a search for local barbers. Great find! Barber shop feels more like a recording studio with rock instruments, records and pinball machines. Fun! More importantly the haircut- five stars. I highly recommend Casey Miller. Talented young guy. Lots of high energy, but takes his time to provide one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten. Really cares about his customer and the quality of service. (A lot of other establish barbers couldn't care less). Reasonably priced too. Although I'm now an older guy, this place would cater to old and young.
