Rockne's is such a great family-friendly restaurant with something for everyone to enjoy on the huge menu! The portions are way bigger than most restaurants, so you really get your money's worth. I took a gamble on the Rockne's Greek Gyro, and it totally surpassed my expectations. The lamb strips were so juicy and tender, and the tzatziki sauce was so light with the tiniest hint of tartness. The meat to pita ratio was a little off, so I ended up having extra meat left over. Everyone at my table loved their dinners, and even though they were large, we all cleaned our plates! There was about a 20 minute wait to be seated, but after we got to the table, the service was very efficient and we got our food quickly--thanks Mallory! Finally, those who regularly read my reviews know that I can't go without mentioning the soda situation. Rockne's has the holy grail of soda--Coke AND Pepsi products, PLUS my two favorite soft drinks, Cherry Coke and DIET Dr Pepper!! I couldn't believe that, I have never seen this at any other restaurant before. My sister got the fresh-squeezed lemonade, which, unlike the soft drinks, has no free refills, but that was ok because, like everything at Rockne's, it was a large portion. It looked and tasted just like Chick-fil-A's lemonade, right down to the little pieces of pulp. I loved Rockne's! I would go here all the time if there was one closer to me! read more

If you have a giant neon sign lit up above your restaurant that screams "Great Food!", you damn well better serve great food. Rockne's in Cuyahoga Falls may want to edit their sign. Perhaps to a less brazen "Good Food". Being from San Diego we had never before been to, or even heard of Rockne's. Upon entering, my first thought was: Are you sure this isn't this Applebee's? Once inside I realized that Rockne's had a more bar and grill, and less of a Denny's vibe than Applebee's. If Chili's is Applebee's cool uncle, then Rockne's is Uncle Chili's fun neighbor. Rockne's certainly had good food, not great. Except for the fries, they were just bad. Classic Sauerkraut Balls. Sauerkraut and a bit of ham rolled into a ball, breaded and deep fried. Served with honey mustard. They were good. Let them cool!! They were balls of lava when they arrived at the table. The honey mustard was a great compliment. Our friend makes these at home and hers are better. Grilled Reuben. Corned beef piled high on rye & topped with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and their house Reuben dressing then grilled. I ordered the half sandwich with the fries. It was a good Reuben. Once again, not great. I will say this, it was huge. A full sandwich would've been way too much. The fries were terrible. They weren't crispy at all. Limp and over salted. Not even the honey mustard from the sauerkraut balls helped. Barely edible. The Firestone Salad. A broiled chicken breast, sliced, over a bed of lettuce, cheddar jack cheese and tomato with grilled pita. Becky had her chicken prepared Buffalo style and she chose Buffalo ranch as her dressing. The salad was huge! The bowl it was served in was like a bowl you'd put a salad in to take to a potluck. She liked the salad. Not the best salad in the world, but she liked it. The Buffalo ranch carried a pretty good kick. Service from Claudia was good. We were a table of six adults and one child so she had her hands full. She kept up well. Prices were good. Especially when the portions sizes are taken into account. Becky's salad that could've fed four people, my Reuben, two Yuengling drafts and two cans of White Claw was $30.38 before tip. Make sure you check your to go orders. I've had missing items a couple of times. No dressing for your salad. I returned it and got my money back. They barely say sorry. We were celebrating a family birthday and there was a large group of us included my elderly dad who is nearly disabled. I asked the staff to please clean up a wet spot before my dad had to walk over it. Bill was more than willing to take care of it immediately. I was so thankful he was willing to do that. Our waitress, Haley, was so sweet and got all of our orders exactly right and they were ready quickly. We really appreciated the wait staff, and will be returning. read more

The prices at this place are ridiculous. I ordered a burger with no bun and a small side salad and it was 15.00. The burger was small both around and in thickness. Basically like McDonalds cheese burger size. My mom wanted sweet potato fries in place of regular fries and it was 3.00 more. This place is not that good to be charging that much. Fries are limp. Just not good for what it costs. My daughter and mom had sliders that they say were good. The only good thing for me was the waitress. She was very accommodating. Checked on us often. Rockne's could get away with cutting corners and mediocrity, and on the surface level, it looks like little more than a glorified Applebee's. Don't be deceived, though. This is a really reliable restaurant if you're in the mood for classic American food. I love their Philly, the mushroom swiss burger, and the chicken sandwiches. Bacon cheddar fries might just be what I'd like my last meal to be. If you order takeout, they wait until you arrive to add the fries to your order. This might add a couple of minutes to your wait, but it ensures that you're getting hot, fresh fries, and those little touches mean a lot. The staff is always really friend here. Two small things: I do wish there was a more robust bar menu. Drinks are just okay. And on our last visit (Aug. 7), I noticed that the menu was considerably smaller. Maybe this is temporary and due to Covid/staffing issues? But I miss the southwestern egg rolls, the fillet sliders, in particular. Having a little more variety would be appreciated and make me dine here more frequently. read more

This place is amazing, and every time I've gone the food just get's better and better. My BFF and I stopped here when I met her in town, and this was the place we chose. (one of her all time favorites and mine). We started off with a pitcher of Sangria, for like $12.99... yes, please! Then got bacon cheese fries for an appetizer.. And we each got a salad I tried the Buffalo Chicken Salad, I've been wanting one for a while, but I should've asked for buffalo sauce on side, they put too much on it!! My mouth was on fire!!! Atmosphere was cool but a little old... Service was good and they were pretty packed but the food was ok. I wouldn't say it was phenomenal and I surely wouldn't drive from Pittsburgh back just to eat there. Pricing wasn't too terrible bad but it was up there a bit. The decor had this 50's diner type mixed with old TGI Fridays with the flair. A lot going on all at once. Too much really! Like I said service was fairly quick and pleasant as one would expect. Rockne's is one of my favorite restaurants and I miss it terribly since moving. Coming into town for the weekend I called ahead to make sure the restaurant was open and to what time so I could be there. Show up an hour later and there's a sign the kitchen is closed and they won't seat anyone. When I asked the answer was we decided to close early. I'm both disappointed because I'll miss my meal but upset about the lack of information. I drove out of my way to get to someplace that just "decided" to close early. read more

For many years Rocknes in Canton (and the whole chain for that matter) has been on of our favorite go to spots. Tonight I picked up my favorite salad the Rockne's salad, only to be disappointed. One of the best parts of this salad has always been the actual bacon added to the salad. Tonight they replaced the real bacon with generic no flavor brown pieces if something that was supposed to look like granules of bacon. So disappointing and hopefully doesn't indicate a cheapening of their menu items overall. read more

Terrible service . waited along time and the server finally realized she forgot us went back and brought the wrong soup I ordered. Asked to talk with the manager upon leaving and the young ladies up front didn't know what a manager was I guess so we had to ask for their boss. I was super excited to try this place out since my husband used to come here before he left for the military. I'm glad we went because the service was awesome, the food was delicious with a great price! Not only that they offered us a military discount so instead of paying almost $20 for our meal we paid less than $10 for 2 gyros!!!! Best believe we will be coming back!!! Where were the fish and chips I like to go to Rockne's when in the Akron area as I enjoy their black bean soup. I had it and it was enjoyable as always. I could not find the fish and chips on the menu so I went with a cheese steak sandwich as I live in the greater Philadelphia area and wanted to see how they did with that sandwich. It wasn't a Pat's, Gino's, or Jim's but it was good. Service was great and prices are reasonable. The parking lot in this location was less full than the other locations I have visited. The GPS directions were not so good as they are located at an intersection of five or six streets so take a look at a map if you are going there for a first time, as the parking lot entrances could be a little tricky to cut over with a lot of traffic. Rocknes is and always has been my MUST GO TO place when I am home and it never has faltered. My must haves are bacon cheddar fries which are the BEST and come with loads of sour cream and need to have a steak knife to get through them. I always get a salad, bc when I am home it is hard to get my veggies in, and their salads - all of them - are WONDERFUL. Service is always good and you never have to wait. Oh, and ANDES MINTS WITH YOUR CHECK because Ohio knows what is up. Last time I got a bloody mary for the first time at Rocknes- and it was really good! In contrast to the first review, I DO crave rocknes. They have the best french fries EVER. I would kill a man for the bacon cheddar fries if I didn't know how horrible they were for me. They are the thin cut "fair fries" as I call them. Plus there's malt vinegar right there on the table. The fettucini alfredo is killer, but not really "Italian". It is VERY cheesy, almost like a mac and cheese with different noodles. The potato soup is awesome and can come in a bread bowl. My brothers always get "The Terminator" a huge sandwich with everything on it and fries even! I usually get the signature Firestone Salad to try and counteract the fries I eat. It is a huge salad and comes with either pita bread, or hard boiled eggs if you want. They have really good low fat sweet and sour dressing too. There are tvs everywhere and a lot of nostalgic sports "stuff" on the walls. One side has tables and the other side is a seat yourself area with a full bar. I love Rockne's and hereby profess my undying love for the place. This location is the best and the one in North Canton is a good one too. Kent, not so much. read more

The Original Rockne's, standing long before it became a chain & an Akron-area household name, is still the best. You don't go here for ambiance (it's dark, but at least it's not smoky anymore, which makes it feel almost cozy now) or even for the food, which is good but certainly not great. Honestly, you go to Rockne's because it feels like small-town Ohio. It feels like the suburbs. It feels like HOME. It's above-par pub food for pretty darn cheap. My mom is obsessed with Mac the Knife, and I'm beyond crazy about the wheat grilled cheese and the tomato basil soup. And if you're feeling gluttonous, try the mountain of bacon cheddar fries -- split them with someone else... or two! I wish D.C. had a Rockne's. It's always the first place I hit when I visit home -- sometimes twice in one weekend! read more

A couple reviews got this location confused with the one on Hudson Drive, which was the original Rocknes and is now closed. This location, on Bailey, is open. My only reservation about Rocknes is that I wish the bar was more wide-open. It's a little cramped. But they aren't going for the sports bar thing; Rocknes is more of a conventional restaurant in its setup. As for the food: wonderful. Nothing fancy - but excellent sandwiches, salads and heavenly soups. As another review mentioned, the "Terminator" roast beef sandwich is the best. I like their Grilled chicken salad. We've been here many times and the quality has been consistently superb. read more

Love! I always go here when I'm back in Akron, whether it is this one or the West Akron location, I go. The "Jack the Knife" burger is great. M. The years have not been good on this local favorite. Although the food is predictable it certainly is not outstanding. It does come to the point where a established restaurant needs a face lift. This restaurant needs some serious surgery D, The place was pretty busy; must be liked by some. I just have not had that good of an experience here. I had an especially good experience today at this Rockne's. I wanted to stop for lunch in the Chapel Hill area after an appointment in Munroe Falls, and I called a friend who is recovering from surgery to see if she wanted me to bring her something. She said she wanted some soup, so I looked on Rockne's website and saw how many flavors they had, and she picked out 6 (a couple days' worth) plus a sandwich. When I got there, I explained to the waitress that everything I was ordering would be a little different. I wanted a turkey sandwich on a croissant, which is not on their menu. My friend wanted their chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, but packaged separately so the croissant would not get all mushy. Then she wanted a crock of this soup, a cup of another, a crock of yet another, etc. The waitress took it all in stride, but as I saw her ringing it up, I could see she was asking for some help. When she came back to the table, I asked her if she was new, and she said yes. Her name is Lolitta, and she really did an amazing job. She timed the big take-out order very well with the meal I ate in, she put it all in the box I brought, handled the two checks separately as I asked, and just was an all around delight. Best part? I'm very angry with Rockne's. They always always mess up my order! I got a pasta salad with a couple specifications. I asked for three egg halves, cucumber, and pepper sprinkled on top. As you can see, I got no cucumber, they didnt even give me lettuce that I should get with my spinach, they gave me six egg halves, and I'm allergic to bell peppers. I wanted the seasoning. Which, with this Rockne's I guess you have to have them repeat the order, check your food before you leave, and make sure the price is right. They charged me extra for the egg halves I didn't ask for, the little spinach that they replaced the lettuce they didn't include, and the peppers I didn't want. I made the mistake clear and they took off the charge. Not only did they mess my order up every. single. time. But they also forget to give my friend pita bread and she had to drive back to pick it up. The staff is very rude and makes you feel as if you are to blame for their incompetence! The family usually enjoys a nice dinner here after being in Akron for various doctor appointments. Not on this visit. On this visit, my husbands food was COLD! He ordered a warm spinach salad with a chicken breast and got cold food. NOT HAPPY! Service overall was minimal and slow. We always had to flag down our waitress for drink refills and then the check. They acted as if they were low on staff. I only saw our server and one other. The hostess never smiled. I swear nothing could have broken that cold exterior of a face. I don't know what it is about this visit, but they really did horrible this time! read more

Giving this place another try after a long time staying away. Menu is pretty average, these items can be found almost anywhere. Beer on tap is not cold enough. Decor is forgettable, music is horrible pop. Food is ok, so is service. Large portions of fries. Overall, average and not memorable in any way. read more
