Cute little diner in Stow. We stopped for a quick dinner, and it looks like this place has been in the area for a while. Very American diner style food, with lots of choices of sandwiches, burgers, and salads. I got the reuben, which despite the smaller size, was extremely filling. It was on the oilier side, but got the job done for what I was looking for for that meal. The staff were friendly. The only downside is the servers tend to prioritize regulars and on more than one occasion I've watched a server walk by my empty coffee cup to go fill out and chat with someone they knew. I am so disappointed in this restaurant. For the second day in a row I have had a very negative experience at this establishment. Yesterday, I decided to visit alone for lunch. I sat patiently as I watched everyone else around me be attended to by the wait staff for over 10 minutes. I eventually left. Today, my wife convinced me to return and believed that I would have a better experience. We did not. No one visited our table to even ask our drink order. We sat and watched people who came after us being served and we just sat there. I was so disappointed we left again and are now at Applebees. We visited Stow on business the month of May. Our local friends told us about Tip Top...we waited until our last 2 weeks to visit and ended up enjoying the food and service 8 out of the next 14 days. We went to Tip Top for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It's a small restaurant and they were busy, which is nice to see. We were greeted and seated almost right away since we were only a party of 2. We ordered 2 bulldogs (3 eggs, choice of meat, hashbrowns, toast and the main event: a biscuit and sausage gravy). Everything came as expected and the sausage gravy was really good (although I did add black pepper because I like mine with a little more heat). Service was nice and friendly even though we had never been there before. I appreciated that the inside of the restaurant was clean (no dirty light fixtures) and had more up-to-date decor. PHEW! That's the best way to describe their burgers! They are massively magnificent! I usually order the largest burger on any menu, however my brother cautioned me that I did not need the biggest, and instead I ordered the next one down, the Conqueror. WHAT A BEAST! I honestly could not finish it! It was cooked perfectly using high quality ground beef, on a firm bun, and loaded with flavor! I can't even imagine having an extra patty on there to take on the biggest burger! It was so big, you had to take a bite on top, then on bottom, it wouldn't fit in my mouth. I had fun eating it. The fries were also fantastic! Crispy, and flavorful, and a great accompaniment to the burger! I will absolutely go to Tip Top again and highly recommend their burgers! read more

The food here is always good! Even when the place is full you can still get what it is that you ordered at a reasonable pace! Also the place is close to a nearby park in Stow. You can see outside the place while you eat so the atmosphere is great there. TIP Top has been a round for a really long time and it is just the best small restraunt in stow. read more

After ordering delivery from this restaurant about a year and a half ago I finally went to eat in last Friday. The place seemed well maintained and the table seemed clean. My father ordered the meatloaf with red-skinned mashed potatoes and chili. He thought the chili was fine, but did not enjoy the meatloaf or the mashed potatoes (though I took a bite of the potatoes and they seemed solid to me). I ordered one of my favorite dishes, a turkey club with fries. When the club arrived the server stated that she didn't know where the fries were, only that the kitchen had told her to come back for them. No big deal. But As I was getting most of the way through my sandwich I still had no fries (at least 10 minutes had passed). I had seen the server taking dishes that had fries on them to other tables and then she noticed I was still waiting and was able to get the fries from the kitchen. The sandwich was a bit disappointing. It wasn't bad, by any stretch. But it wasn't good, either. It was about average, which is odd for a turkey club since it is tough to get that wrong. That being said, the server (aside from the fries) was extremely upbeat and very nice and competent. The menu is robust and I don't judge a place on just one dish. I'd say their breakfast gets a 5/5 and the rest of their meals are a 3.5/5. They have some decent daily specials worth checking out though. This place is as ma and pa as they come. A small town vibe to it. I'd say an older crowd, and it does get crowded at times. A good place to come for dinner if you want meatloaf or a country fried steak. The breakfasts are great and they have a pretty wide selection. I personally don't like eggs, so I recommend their cinnamon swirl French toast. It's delicious. read more

I am sure this restaurant has seen its share of ups and downs since the 1920s, but it is in a bit of a death spiral right now. Now that I think about it, you would think a restaurant with almost 100 years of experience under its belt would have remarkable service and food. Not! Make yourself comfortable folks, this is going to be a long review. First off, there are 50 meals to choose from on the breakfast menu, with 25 side dishes and 14 choices of toast (yes ... toast, not bread, toast). There are 99 meals to choose from the combined lunch/dinner menu, with 21 general side dishes and 20 dinner side dishes (there is no distinction between the 21 general side dishes and the 20 dinner side dishes, most items are repeated). Now, people! There isn't a restaurant in the world that is capable of producing even a mediocre meal when the cook has to know how to prepare 149 main dishes and about 50 side dishes. I hope you like potatoes with your breakfast because most breakfasts come with 2 to 3 cups of steamed hashbrowns (yes, I measured). Sometimes they are rock-hard on the outside but every time they are wet and steamy mashed potatoes on the inside ... just gross. And don't complain about them, cause you will just be told "but they're made fresh every day." So why have I eaten there for the past 7 years? Because it has become an after church tradition. The food was never as great as these 4 and 5-star Yelp reviews are giving it, but it was good. Several months ago, their front of house manager left for medical reasons; after recuperating they never came back (so I've been told by a waitress). Service has been downhill ever since. There are quite a few special characters working there now. Today's review was inspired by one of them, our server. I will try to keep this short. My mother thought her BLT tasted a bit off. After inspecting it we found that it was made with romaine lettuce instead of the stereotypical iceberg lettuce. We tried to get our server's attention but she was busy. We forgave her that. However, when we were able to explain to her about the oddness of my mothers sandwich the server said that the cooks have romaine lettuce in the back and the servers have iceberg lettuce in the front, and that romaine lettuce was technically lettuce. I called bullshit, and she didn't like that. The server offered to bring my mother out a side dish of iceberg lettuce from the server station. You'll notice that I never mentioned that the server apologized? You can fill in that part of the story. When my mother asked if the server could please remove the dish with my mothers used tea bags, tea bag wrappers, straw papers, used spoon, lemon wedges, empty metal (single serve) tea kettle, empty sugar packets and three crumpled up napkins, the server informed my mother that she wasn't sure if she was finished with her tea. You'd have to be an idiot not to see that this was a plate of garbage collected from the table. The server said that she doesn't pre-bus the tables because she has been spit on, slapped and shooed away from the table when trying to pre-bus in the past. Really? WTF does that have to do with my mother asking you, right now, to remove a plate with garbage on it? By the way, my mother is 86, sits humped over with an arthritic spine, has macular degeneration (cannot see anything in front of her, only peripherally), and is winded walking from the waiting area of the restaurant to the booth. I'm pretty sure my mom isn't gonna kick your ass when she asks you to please bus the table. Anyway, I need to stop. I want to tell you about the lemon wedges they serve on the chopped sirloin, but I'll leave that to your imagination. Have fun eating here ... you never know what might happen. read more

This was our first time eating at tip top. We have lived down the street for about six months now, and we wish we had discovered it sooner. I had the chicken dinner and he ordered a Philly cheesesteak. Both our meals were more than generous portions. The chicken was clearly plated very quickly because it was still so hot I had to wait a minute before I dove in. My boyfriends cheese steak was also hot--so they timed our meals to come out at the same time perfectly. Not as easy thing to do for most places. When we went, it was almost completely empty. Usually that makes me nervous, but it was the middle of the day on a week day so I'm sure it's busier at other times. After reading the reviews, I'll have to stop in for breakfast sometime. We had two waitresses checking up on us because it was so slow. They were both perfectly friendly and helpful, which we appreciated. They gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, which I appreciated because it is very extensive. It took us about 15 minutes to decide--just so many options! Should be called the Rock Bottom! Came here for Sunday brunch with my dad and my sister yesterday. We went to the hostess, my dad gave her his name to write down, she did so, and she said it would be about a 15-20 minute wait, so we go sit down in the lobby and wait for our name to be called. After about 10 minutes, the hostess comes out and starts calling the names of people who arrived 5 minutes after us. My dad goes to check in with them, and it turns out they crossed off our name without ever calling us. Had my dad not gone in and checked, we probably never would have been seated. That's not even the half of it--our server was nice, but we must have waited about 45 minutes for our food. As we looked around, we noticed that people who arrived 10-15 minutes after us were getting their food within 5-10 minutes. My dad spoke to the manager, calmly explaining how we we unhappy about the way we were ignored and that the service we were receiving was unacceptable. Instead of being polite, apologetic, and professional, she starts yelling at my dad, asking questions like "Have you ever waited tables?" "Can't you see we're short-staffed? It's all over the bulletin board!" I guess it's no mystery why the place is such a disaster. Also, not a single staff member apologized for the way we were cast aside. Never again! read more
