I like this place, I'm glad it's back open, but I have one major, simple gripe. I'll preface this with yes, I'm a 30 year old man complaining about this, but hear me out. An order of chicken fingers usually comes with a sauce. That's just a normal restaurant rule, one order of chicken, one sauce right? Well @ Rocks you get a cup of Ranch, and if you don't like that then you pay 50 cents for a sauce. Even if you specifically say "ranch is disgusting" (I would't be that hateful to ranch in public though) you'll somehow always still get the ranch + whatever sauce you actually wanted + a 50 cent charge. I thought it might be a one time thing but nope, it keeps happening. I'm sorry Rocks, a small amount of BBQ sauce does not cost more to you than the same amount of ranch sauce. Let people just choose a damn sauce and lay off the upcharge because it makes you look petty as hell on a hefty bill that always includes plenty of alcohol. It's not even an extra sauce! EDIT: Update - just went again recently and they were kind enough to not charge for sauce. Unfortunately when I asked if I could get some bread or crackers to go with a French onion soup I was told that "The kitchen says those are only for salads." I was actually taken aback at how stupid that is, that they had no available bread, despite said bread being on the menu. Very frustrating. read more

I really wanted to love it here. The close proximity to my apartment made it an easy dinner option and it always smells sooo good when I walk by. After four visits, I can't say I want to come back. Three visits produced pretty average food. I never got the same thing twice because so much of the menu looked interesting and delicious. I've brought family and friends here because the menu is huge and everyone can find something they like. But it never goes past "like." Burgers have been bland and much of the sautéed onion or pepper toppings on sandwiches were scorched and dripping in grease. For a place that does BURGERS I expected better. The buffalo wings were consistently good- I even got them for takeout a few times. The nail in the coffin was my last visit. My boyfriend and I walked in on a moderately busy evening. It's a little awkward to get a table since there's no hostess stand. So we stood in the doorway and waited. We tried to get a server's attention as they passed- no eye contact. We squeezed up to the bar to ask about getting a table. No acknowledgement. A group of three staff members were chatting on the opposite side of the bar. We kept looking their way for any sort of recognition that we were there and none came. We waited at least five minutes without a single Rocks staff member saying a word. I would've been appreciative of any sort of "be with you in a minute" or "could you stand here and we'll seat you in a while." Nothing. We walked out and headed down street. After the bizarre experience and just okay food, I won't be back. read more

Had to leave a review -- was out for a boozy brunch with a close girlfriend; we both have 12 wk old babies at home. I had to pump and was offered a private space with an outlet so I could stay for another drink. To top it off our service and food were equally as spectacular. I'm not sure why I ordered from here..maybe the pictures of the food looked really good. I had an Uber coupon and was starving. First time using Uber to deliver food so I wanted to keep it simple. I ordered chicken tender and Mac n Cheese nuggets or whatever they're called. This has to be the 2nd most disgusting food I've eaten in my life. The chicken tender have absolutely no taste @ all...how can you mess up chicken tenders. The cheese were a little more eatable. I'm so confused as to how this place has so many decent reviews. I order Rocks for delivery every couple months it it never disappoints! Great bar food - flavorful and huge portions. The burgers are very good and I love their nachos. My highly discerning and critical 13 year old who binge watches the Food Network actually said, "Dad, that was amazing. The flavor of the onions balanced perfectly with the burger." Most she's said to me this week. Both the sweet potato and regular fries were perfectly crispy, a highly unusual phenomenon with most received deliveries, so extra points for that. Oh...they have a choice of like a dozen dipping sauces. I could go on about how great the chicken tenders were, or how I was delighted by my Buffalo chicken wrap, but ya know what? This is a great neighborhood bar & eatery. The staff is always friendly and the food is consistent. They have both indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting). The Buffalo chicken wrap is my favorite and the Mac n Cheese bites are decedent. Burgers are also fantastic. There is something here for everyone. Rocks has a cool vibe, sports bar feel with tons of TV's, drink specials and large burgers. The service was excellent but the cocktails were okay.. mules did not taste like they were made with ginger beer. More acidic than usual but you're not at a cocktail bar. Food was mixed, fries and burgers tasted great. Mac and Cheese however heavily lacked salt and was very bland. We had a big party and all of them were bland, must not have been a mistake. Skip it! SUCH a good burger. I went for their Chicago classic minus the cheese and I ate the entire thing. I loved the pickles and dijoinaise they used. It didn't feel heavy and I wasn't too full afterwards. This place was marvelous. I came here with another person and he also enjoyed the restaurant. First walking in, Dave is at the door making sure everyone is wearing their mask. I mean he let us pick our sit and that was kind of what added to the scenery. I was able to pick the view I wanted. We had a choice to either sit inside or outside. We chose inside. Upon sitting at the table we were informed that we could use our phone camera to scan the table and find the menu on the internet. They also had an option for paper (disposable) menu for the ones who didn't have access to the internet or phone wasn't compatible with the system. We look at the menu and saw a variety of options and different food which gave us much needed option. We had the most killer waiter, Tiara, was killer she helped us with menu questions. She also was very patient with us as we were deciding what to get. She frequently came over to check in on us and did not walk up rude or interrupt conversation. On a side note someone ( I say someone cause unfortunately I didn't ask for the name) was always taking our empty cups and plates which was very appreciated because it kept the table from getting cluttered. Of course because this was a burger joint we had to just indulge in their burgers. So the person I was with ordered THE ROCK with fries and I had the BLACKEN SALMON with Tater tot and it was more than Superb. The Rock, according to my partner, was well season he enjoyed the savoriness of the burger and the many components that compliment the sandwich as a whole. I took some his food so from what I gather the string onions were delicious and the tater tats we more fulfilling than the fries. The Blacken Salmon was filled with so much favor it had my taste buds dancing. It was not dry and it came with a little tabasco sauce and lemon. It was perfect and honestly I don't think anything I say will explain how rich in favor the salmon had. I was definitely pleasantly surprised . We ate this meal with a pink Flaming, which blended perfectly with what we were eating Now back to Dave. He was great nice and bubbly don't get me wrong. But I just felt like I was being stared at at lot sir. I know you were probably not even thinking about me but for future reference mind how you are surveying the room and try not to look at one place where customers may Perceive you as staring at them. Horrible! I will say once we got there the greeting and chatting to use from the staff was amazing. But the moment we had to send our food back it was over. My friend had the fish and chips, fish came out burnt. I had the steak salad, cooked medium well. Came out well. They bring to my table two things of fish and chips. With only one being for my table. I later see them being two more out for another table, one I am guessing was from my table. The I am sitting there without my salad and the server comes over to tell me that my salad will be out shortly. That they almost brought it out with my steak well done...AGAIN. I finally get my salad, with more meat on it then lettuce, from the manager. She asked if this looks right. I said yes thank you. And she said sorry for the inconvenience. Then she walks away. The whole time that I am eating my salad not once does our server come over to check up on us. Until she either heard/saw us putting our plates on top of one another cause we wanted to go. We give our card and asked to just to have it spilt. After she brings our cards back she asks us if we wanted some pie to take home cause they needed to get rid of it. My friend takes one piece. This business needs to deal with their delivery service before it can get anything other than the lowest rating. We order delivery frequently (this review encompasses two households, both with condos on the third floor in different buildings) and every service we have dealt with for months deliver to our door(s) with no problem. The service Rocks uses sent someone who ignored instructions on how to reach us (he was to use the "box" at the door so we could let him in - the cell number we provided does not link to the entry system) and when we pointed this out to him, he announced he didn't need to do that because he was just going to leave the food outside. When informed that this was not acceptable to us and we expected delivery to our door, he first claimed that he would get fired for entering the building (hmmm, how would anyone know? BTW, if his employers actually would fire an employee for providing good service, Rocks needs to find a new, ETHICAL delivery service). When challenged on this, he literally said he had "more important things to deal with" and refused to complete the service he was paid for. We called Rocks and the manager who talked to me said unconvincingly sympathetic things but basically blamed the problem on the delivery service. Which leads us to conclude that Rocks needs to address the delivery shortcomings or get rid of this service. We won't be doing business with them under the current circumstances. read more

#120in2020 . Looking to expand my culinary horizons by visiting 120 restaurants, coffee shops, bars or other eateries in 2020. Here is my latest visit! Made my way to Rocks on a Thursday night on the way home from work as my bachelor fridge was empty. It is right around the corner from my new apt so i thought it wise to check it out. Local bar feel but a little better. Plenty of TVs with a good mix of whatever sorts are on. Views from any angle. Dude at the door seating people. 2 at the bar and plenty of servers. I sat at the bar and watched the bar staff really hustle. (Yet somehow smooth and calm). They never flinched no matter how many tickets popped up. I am betting no patron wondered where their drink was. My drink was right up the middle. Not over or under poured. The menu was full or burgers and classic bar food....but a lot better. Not ALL fried and some creative items. I pretty sure I saw someone with green beans and a veggie/humus platter! I got the Gordo Burger. Very tasty! Lots going on - with flavors and textures. The fries were good. Crispy with a slight coating. My water was never low or empty. Price was spot on for this type of place. Good to know there is a solid place close to my apt should my fridge be empty again. I'll be back. read more

Oh Rocks how you have changed. When I moved here 5 years ago I used to visit you at least four times a week for food and drinks. After the fire the quality started to go down hill quick. Every week you had new associates that I had never seen before. You used to have long time associates that would greet me when I walked in. As a local that is something I really appreciate. But it's not just about the service... I forgave you when my Uber Eats orders didn't look and didn't taste up to par the past 6 months or so but... The lunch I had last week was the last straw. I got my usual Rocks Burger and the patty was at least 75% smaller than what I normally got. I mean this thing was tiny! You charged extra for a side of giardiniera, and extra for a side salad. 50 cents for a side of giardiniera?? You have to be kidding me. My total was $24 for a tiny burger (with a big bun) and a beer. I'm sorry Rocks we are breaking up. I hope that you can get it together soon. read more
