Oh Rocks how you have changed. When I moved here 5 years ago I used to visit you at least four times a week for food and drinks. After the fire the quality started to go down hill quick. Every week you had new associates that I had never seen before. You used to have long time associates that would greet me when I walked in. As a local that is something I really appreciate. But it's not just about the service... I forgave you when my Uber Eats orders didn't look and didn't taste up to par the past 6 months or so but... The lunch I had last week was the last straw. I got my usual Rocks Burger and the patty was at least 75% smaller than what I normally got. I mean this thing was tiny! You charged extra for a side of giardiniera, and extra for a side salad. 50 cents for a side of giardiniera?? You have to be kidding me. In any case, our relationship is definitely on the rocks. Though the staff is certainly nice and the service is on point, the bar smacks of Wrigleyville tomfoolery even though ol' Wrig-town is still a few blocks west. Walking into Rocks we were instantly greeted and given the option of a table outside or inside. I opted for inside because I hate eating outside on the sidewalk; I prefer outdoor seating where passersby aren't walking and looking at me stuff food into thy mouth. The service is usually pretty nice but I'll rank them even higher because all the servers love my puppy, so they obviously have good taste. I've ordered quite a few options on the menu. Everything else I've tried is pretty good too, but I think the pricing is ridiculous. $10-$12 for a sandwich is pretty intense, also the sides are all priced at $4... That's too much too. $4 for 1 scoop of potatoes or 15 fries is highway robbery. But the pricing on drinks is fair, so it's a tough call. YUM, Rocks! I first discovered place over two years ago. Situated just down Broadway from home it has become a favorite. I personally go here for burgers and sweet potato fries, but the menu is extensive and good basically all around (with the exception of the buffalo chicken wrap that I don't care for). A burger cooked medium is always the way to go. Try the burger of the month! July's burger is my favorite - the Star-Spangled burger. It comes on a pretzel roll with lettuce, tomato, cheddar, two other cheeses, cocktail weenies, pickles, onion straws and chipotle BBQ sauce. It combines the hotdog and hamburger for a July 4th cookout treat. Each week night has a food special though. Taco (and wine) Tuesdays and Salad Thursdays. I think they also have beer battered fish on Fridays. There is also a whiskey special of the month for $5 and even a beer of the month. The place we had originally wanted to go to down the block had a 45 minutes wait, two bridal showers and it looked like a bachelorette party. We ordered our food, me, eggs, my fiance, a burger. The food took forever. It wasn't just us either, the table behind us asked their server twice about their orders. Not to mention, our server had gone completely MIA. The place wasn't even close to full, I honestly wonder what happens during a rush. Our food finally came out, and it was pretty good. We ended up getting a pitched of mimoas. Their mimoas deal is actually pretty sweet. The pitcher was worth it. My fiance was going to order dessert too, but it took too long for our server to find her way back to us, so instead we just got the check. Some fantastic weekday deals - I went on a Tuesday and there were $2 tacos, half off cocktails, and for $15 you could get the beer of the month, burger, and pie of the month. Had I wanted a beer and pie, i would've been all over that deal in a heartbeat (considering the burgers are $11-12 you're basically getting a free beer/pie. Instead got an old fashioned which was done really well - proper bourbon (Woodford Reserve) and big cube of ice, perfect. Went here for dinner because on Wednesdays it is half priced "Signature" burgers. I always find their burgers and curly fries delicious, but even more so when the burger is $6.25. The Lakeview location is really nice because it has walls that are large folding glass panels that open up. My friends and I enjoy the feeling of being outside without having to worry about bugs getting in our food. This was the perfect combo. We got a nice breeze and great sunlight while in an indoor setting. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I have a food allergy and our waitress and the chef went above and beyond to ensure food safety. Really wonderful dinner experience. I look forward to going back on more Wednesdays! read more

Don't let the name fool you: Kid Rock does not own this place. My friends and I, who are all HUGE Kid Rock fans, came here hoping for a day filled with laughs, fun, food, drinks, and classic Kid Rock anthems. While the food and beer selection were great, when we asked to meet the owner (Kid Rock, we hoped) we were informed 1) he is not the owner 2) he has never even heard of this place and 3) he probably wouldn't like this place anyway as they do not serve Bud Heavy and a shirt is required for entrance. Further, when we attempted to play Bawitdaba 5 times in a row on the jukebox, the manager skipped the third one. This is unacceptable. I am updating my review for Rocks, with a completely honest experience. As this is one of our neighborhood spots to go, some honest feedback might do them well. For starters, all I have had here previously is a wrap or a burger, which dont get me wrong they are good at making! Tonight, I tried the wings for their special. The sauces were good, but the wings not so much. They came out VERY quick, which should have been the first red flag. They were also cold....not good. Plus, not really wings like you would think, more like fried Tyson chicken skewers. So we decided to try the nachos...also came very quickly, too quickly. Weren't my favorite. Seemed like a can of beans dumped on fritos. Last night was my second time here. My fiance and I were nervous because we were the annoying people who got there 10 minutes before the kitchen closes. I was relieved to see our server, Megan, was the same person we had the first time, because her fantastic service was certainly part of the reason for our return. She was extremely friendly and not at all annoyed by our arrival time, which I would have understood if she had been. Usually I love coming here - it's my go-to neighborhood burger and beer place! But this evening, I walked in and stood at the door for a few minutes with no staff in sight aside from the busy bartender so I decided to seat myself. After a few more minutes, one of the runners came and set some water and glasses on my table and I thanked him. I have several years of hospitality experience so I understand that people get busy. I waited several more minutes and saw a couple of what seemed like servers and tried to make eye contact. One was heading to a nearby table and one was in the back of the bar area but still, nothing. I tried going to the bar to ask for a menu and a drink but she was pretty busy so I spotted another runner and told him that I'd been there a while with no menu. He quickly apologized and went to go get a server. Honestly I'd say that maybe half the place was full so I'm not sure what was going on. The service is normally on point. After a bit I finally got my burger, which of course was delicious as always as the tots were heavenly as always. Hopefully the bad service was just a fluke. read more

I think I would go out to drink here, but was a little disappointed with the food & service. I got the rocks burger with curly fries, the curly fries were fantastic- definitely 5 stars. My burger however for being the house signature burger was very plain. It was supposed to come with the house spicy ketchup, and it certainly didn't taste like it. There wasn't a hint of flavor. Next time I come, I'll have to try a different type of burger, mine was disappointing. Was not juicy and was over cooked. In terms of the service, our waitress was very nice but felt like she didn't check on us enough. Rocks is always a *solid* place. Whether it's for brunch, dinner, or just appetizers, my boyfriend and I have had zero complaints and have been frequent customers since the renovation opened. We have both tried the burgers, always good, try their buffalo fries for an extra kick. We have tried many wraps, salads, and appetizers. Get the mashed potatoes (loaded) and you won't be disappointed. Their cheese fries are also really tasty. I opt for the steak and eggs for breakfast which is always cooked perfectly. Their beer selection is always great, staff is always friendly and helpful and will laugh along with your shenanigans (hangovers included). Speaking of hangovers, try a Bloody Mary-spicy- it kicks the hangover right out of ya. Great for watching games, SO many tv's and always accommodate to which game your interested in. I chose to get the veggie patty on brioche bread; my toppings were lettuce, cheese, mushrooms, guacamole, and the pineapple corn salsa. It was a very small helping of guacamole that wasn't good. The patty wasn't all that great either (but who goes and gets a veggie patty, right? Fine, blame me, but if you're going to offer a substitute, it should be good). Everything else was just alright. Sweet potato fries were very thin and salty. I found the place a little odd. They card you as you walk in through the front yet I saw some people entering through the other door. It was also mid-day so families were walking in too. How that system works and gets communicated to the server I have no idea. I was very excited when Rocks first opened (about two years ago?), to have another neighborhood spot to try out. I have not been disappointed. They have all sorts in terms of drinks (though emphasis on beer and whiskey). The burger menu here is extensive, including a burger of the month. Personally sad though they are no longer offerring the Tex Mex. Good size, and can get with a number of potato options (sweet potato fries, waffle fries, tater tots, regular, etc.). Basically nicer, more delicious bar food, though some other items. The service I've had has been good on average. I've read some reviews saying it's terrible and that you're better off going to F.O. Mahoney's for food. My personal opinion having eaten at both a ton is that the service is far better at Rocks, as is the food. They look to be expanding into the space next door. Also have outdoor seating up now on both sides of building. read more

Great place to catch college football games on a Saturday afternoon. Supposedly their Bloody Marys are pretty tasty. My brother in law had one, I just stuck to beer. We had already eaten lunch so we ordered some appetizers: fried mac and cheese wedges = awesome with the bbq dipping sauce; wings were good, not drenched in sauce; and the chili nachos were decent. My favorite part about the nachos were the Frito lay dipping chips used in them so they were hearty and did not get soggy quite as fast as the regular chip would. The wedges had to be frozen, came with I think a sour cream dip and BBQ sauce, nothing special. I didn't think over my side options hard enough. When our server asked what I wanted I glanced at the menu and went with the buffalo fries. Bad idea. Maybe some blue cheese crumbles would have saved it, but I would stay away from these for sure.
