Absolutely the best crab cakes I have ever eaten--in the SUMMERTIME. Do not miss the broiled crab cake during crabbing season. It's huge and full of sweet, fresh blue crab meat with a minimum of filler. When I tried it in July 2022, I was blown away. When I returned to Upperco in October 2022, it was a whole different animal. I realized the crab meat must have been frozen. Not nearly as good as the summer version. BUT the rest of the menu, including their wonderful chowders and "half-and-half" soup, was just as good, summer and winter. HIGHLY recommend this place for good Maryland seafood. The chef at lunchtime on February 13, might need some training. My rare Ahi tuna was basically raw and my bacon salmon should've been called barbecue sauce salmon there wasn't even a hint of bacon and again the fish was raw in the middle which I'm not sure why the fish was so small. Our server Monica was great, my family and I felt very welcomed by the staff. The food came out hot and ready to eat. I got the seafood sampler and I very much enjoyed the scallops shrimp crake cake and my sides! The potato salad was good (and I don't even like potato salad) The green beans and broccoli was very delicious. The stuffed fish was a little dry but the other food made up for it (like the soft shell crab) The fries were soggy and I was not a fan but the complimentary bread made up for it. We had 7 people at the table and the bread only comes with 6- I asked if we could have more bread but apparently it's only 1 per table which I thought was bizarre. The bread and butter gave me Texas Roadhouse bread/butter vibes (iykyk) The Dessert was good, the peanut butter bomb and the chocolate cake was rich and the cheesecake hit the spot. Crab cakes are large and spectacular! I believe they are the best in Maryland. Very little fill and very flavorful. Brussels sprouts are the bomb! I believe it's cranberries and bacon in some type of sauce that is so good it would make someone who dislikes sprouts love them! Calamari was also excellent! Service was great once seated drink and appetizers order was taken and served quickly. I've eaten indoor and outdoor both areas were very clean. Best to shop around for other better options in town. New restaurants are opening in the area, there's hope for Westminster. Rock salt is more salt than sugar if you get my drift! read more

One of our favorite places in Westminster. We've not had anything bad to eat since we've been going there. The seafood club is one of my favorite meals regardless of the restaurant. The restaurant is not very large so be mindful of that on busy nights or times. During the summer the deck is a great place to hang out. Thanks to Yelpers - we decided to give this place a shot! Wow wow wow! We were greeted by a very loud but friendly male - I presume the owner. All staff were friendly friendly. Atmosphere was inviting although a little loud at the bar area - and rightfully so on a Sunday. Our waitress was great. She told us the daily specials. Soft shell crabs in March? They are the first restaurant to offer them! If only I liked them. Instead we ordered the stuffed pretzel, crab cakes and scallops. We loved every dish from the flavor to the presentation. We also ordered a side of the shrimp salad. Everything was exceptional. Favorite dish - crab cakes! As a native Marylander I haven't enjoyed a to die for crab cake since Duke Zieberts many years ago. Definitely will be back to order them again. Huge with very little fillers and broiled to perfection. Flavors burst upon first bite! Generous portions and plenty to take home for a second meal (I can't wait to enjoy it tonight). Very cute restaurant- we snagged street parking. Started with a local beer and a bold rock cider on draft= winning. Ordered the mussels which are in a white wine sauce, the 1/2 cream crab and 1/2 Maryland crab soup and crab cake dinner. Fluffy, warm rolls came out shortly after our drinks with a cinnamon butter. These were delightful and delicious and chewy. It was like having dessert first. Then then mussels arrived - and this I would never order again. It was like a watered down soup, no chunks of garlic although it said it had garlic, and was like a weird broth. A third of the mussels were closed and the ones that were open were small and stringy. It was just all around bad- the pita crisps on the side were nicely crisp and tasty. I was quite disappointed. The soup was great and would get again- not a lot of crab in it but had some nice sized lumps. The crab cakes are a home run - literally each one was the size of a baseball! Opted for the Brussels sprouts which were well seasoned and nicely cooked and the fries. All in all, definitely want to come back to try more items in the menu - but those are the worse mussels I've had in a while. Ant mosh Pete was nice and seating took no time! If you are in the area, this is a nice place to stop in and grab a bite! Limited outdoor seating to watch the small town area traffic. read more

I have to update my review to reflect the current status of RockSalt. We've tried very hard to support RockSalt through the pandemic, ordering regularly. But the last couple of times we've ordered it's taken over 2 hours to receive our food. Right now my wife is waiting for food there and has been waiting for more than an hour after being notified our food is ready. The hostess IS NOT wearing a mask indoors. This has turned into a real disaster. So disappointed! They really need to get their act together. I have to say I am thoroughly sad to have to write this negative review but until things change we will not be going back to RockSalt. And shame on the hostess for not wearing a mask and shame on this establishment for not making their employees wear them indoors! The people running food out to cars wear them! What gives! Reckless behavior in a time when so many have become sick or died! Shame! read more

Five stars for this seafood/American restaurant in downtown Westminster, MD. Food and service were top notch! We walked in around 4pm on a Saturday expecting it to be quiet in between lunch and dinner rushes. Didn't realize that it was graduation weekend! We were told 45min wait for our party of 3 - or first come/first serve seating at the bar. We went up for a drink and 3 seats became quickly available. Our waiter (also the bartender) was so personable and attentive despite taking care of so many people and making drinks for the other wait staff. I think his name was Chris. He gave food recommendations and was always checking in on us, refilling everything, and making lively conversation. The menu is clearly marked for gluten free options! We had the ribs (Chris' recommendation) with bacon wrapped shrimp. It was fall off the bone succulent and delicious - and totally gluten free. The chicken Chesapeake was another hit, again perfectly made and gluten free. I personally had the seafood club sandwich. Woah. This thing was so packed full of shrimp and crab it was falling out. What a sandwich and only $15 for that much seafood. Westminster isn't a place I find myself often, but every time I find myself there now I'm going to eat here! read more

I love love this restaurant. I have visited many times in the past and thought I would write a review. for my recent visit. We were greeted cheerfully by the hostess who seated up promptly. Our waiter Mr. Javier M. greeted us in a very professional and friendly manner. He shared the specials for the day and asked if we had any questions. No questions were asked. He took our drink orders and returned with hot bread and a spread for the bread that was very tasty. Once our drink orders were served, he took our meal orders. Mr. Javier served the appetizers and chatted us up for a minute. He treated us as if we were guest in his home. I like that. A waiter that is not only professional, but very warm and friendly. The Panko fried oysters were delicious as was the cream of crab soup. The seafood quesadilla were out of sight. Prepared with loads of shrimp and cheesy just like I like it. The portions was spot on. The seafood club was so much that half of it had to put into a to-go box. As we were just about to complete our meals, we were visited by Mr. Cory who shared that he was one of the manager. He was polite and his mannerism was professional. He chatted with us and made us feel very welcomed too. We were thanked for coming to the restaurant and told to come back again. Both Mr. Javier and Mr. Cory are an asset to RockSalt Grille. I live in the PIkesville area and I do not mind the 30 minute ride to this restaurant. You cannot go wrong dining here. In town for a college tour @ McDaniel college went to grab an early dinner. Showed up around 430 and got sat right away. My son had the rock salt burger and he said it was great. The crab cake was recommended as one of the best in MD and it did not disappoint. With that being said the place was so hot inside that the meal was unenjoyable. The bathrooms were scorching at the beginning of July, and this is unacceptable to me. The oysters were very good and the stuffed grouper was a generous portion, but I couldn't wait to leave and couldn't finish or enjoy my food due to the heat. Great food, the shrimp was unsealed at the end so I couldn't eat all the meat. The fries are as good as always and the salmon was cooked to perfection. We went we friends to Rock Salt in Westminster, MD. The food was absolutely delicious! My husband & I got the broiled seafood sampler which came with scallops, shrimp and an enormous crab cake. I had their homemade coleslaw with pecans & dried cranberries, boardwalk fries, both amazingly delicious . The crab cake, lump with little fillers and perfect spices is one of the best I have ever had. Our friends had the lobster tail stuffed with lump crab and steak & crab cake. They also were very pleased with their delicious meals. We started out sharing an appetizer of fried green tomatoes covered with an enormous portion of lump crab meat. I would recommend going earlier than 4 because we got there at 5:15 and had to wait for an hour and a quarter. Normally, we would not have waited, but we had so many recommendations on how good the food was .. We were not disappointed. The service and food were outstanding, including the Baugher's homemade rolls with maple butter. The picture shows my dinner tonight, last nights leftovers. Very nice atmosphere, upbeat dining room. Busy but no wait for us. Menu looks good - lots of choices. I ordered the cream of crab soup and a seafood sampler for lunch. Husband got pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork looked great and tasted good - a bit sweet for me but not bad at all. We both liked the crab soup. Not exactly native crabmeat but plenty of crab in the bowl. Quite heavy handed on the old bay and a chowder consistency which he liked -me not so much. My seafood sampler was disappointing- the Panko oysters were terrific. The seafood spring roll was ok and the rockfish fingers were yuk. I left half of the roll and the fish fingers on the plate. The best part of the meal was the dessert. A rum pecan crunchy cake with vanilla ice cream .. sweet and comforting. Servers were good - busy - and seemed genuinely happy. It was very crowded for a Tuesday at lunch time. Rolls were barely warm, which, for some people we like really warm/hot rolls. Asked for warmer rolls. Waitress very nice & accommodating. Also! They serve rolls with a sickening sweet honey butter! Kind of like Texas Roadhouse, but with a ton more honey. I guess a lot of people like that? We prefer regular butter. Nice waitress brought us regular butter. (Hate when the butter is very hard because it came directly from fridge.) The butter had a slightly odd flavor however. We couldn't pinpoint it. Husband got RockSalt burger. He said it was good. His fries weren't hot though. Barely warm. I got the scallops with red potatoes & cranberry brussel sprouts. They give you a lot of the sides. The scallops were really big ones. Got 4. They were good. We got the Italian lemon cream cake and Smith Island red velvet cakes.
