I was craving some authentic Jamaican food and Rocksteady came through. I loved every bite not to salty very healthy to taste . Service was amazing my waiter was very nice and accomdating she helped me with the menu as well as adding avacado to my salad even tho it's wasn't on the menu. I would come again and advise u to stop by. It's a very cozy dine in and take out spot with a beautiful ambiance. Check it out

Yes, Five Star food and experience! We were greeted and given a warm friendly greeting when we entered. My wife had been here several times before and wanted me to experience this wonderful place. I ordered the Brown Stew Chicken and I have to say this was the best (other than my mom's Chicken and dumplings), tender, boneless, flavorful chicken I have ever enjoyed. The Brown Stew Chicken came with two sides, I chose Peas and Rice with Cabbage and Carrots. The Peas and Rice were light and fluffy, soaking up some of the rich brown sauce with every bite. Warm friendly people here! Rock Steady... is what they do very well!

This was a five star lunch experience -- the food was great and the service for us "rookies" was over the top. The restaurant has been there for some time. Their regulars have had their families grow up before their eyes. It was my girlfriend's pick for us to meet up here and as she said, "now we know why you've received all those good reviews"... I agreed wholeheartedly. I was familiar with the shopping center strip on the west side of US 1/Federal highway from visiting Mississippi Sweets in the past. Rocksteady is located on the very southern end. Parking is at a premium due to the other restaurants here, as well. You may wish to come early. My girlfriend got to try Ting -- the grapefruit flavored soda -- for her first time. I tried their house lemonade. They also have ginger beer (soda), and iced teas as well as alcoholic drinks. From their lunch menu, we each chose one of their platters. I had their brown stewed chicken with rice and peas and plantains. The chicken was cut into bite sized tender pieces. The brown gravy was flavorful. And the sweet plantains were cooked perfectly. Yum. My girlfriend got their jerked chicken with rice and peas and salad. They served the jerk sauce on the side -- in case it was too spicy for her. She liked her chicken and did add a few drops of the sauce. The salad came with her choice of balsamic or ranch dressing. She also really liked her food. We both took a portion home for a later meal. I ordered some coco bread to go before we left so she could try some of it. The bread is made with coconut milk so is slightly sweet. It was one large soft piece served warm and oh so good. I later ate the rest at home with various things added to give it different tastes. If you love Jamaican food or are looking to try some for the first time, this restaurant would be the place to come. I can't wait to bring my husband here -- we've eaten a lot of island food over the years both in south Florida and the Caribbean -- and I know he will love it, too. So fine.

So happy to give a 5 star review to Rocksteady! Us "rookies" had a great overall experience at this local restaurant. We arrived early which was good as the parking filled up in the strip center. We were greeted and seated right away in a comfortable booth. I looked around and immediately enjoyed the atmosphere. Our sweet server came over for drink orders. I tried a new beverage "Ting" a very nice grapefruit soda . After reading other reviews and having looked over the menu ahead of time i knew exactly what i was ordering. Jamaican food can be very spicy but i like a little heat so it was the Jerk Chicken Platter w Pigeon peas and rice and the house salad! My friend Julie ordered the Stewed chicken which was considered a little less spicy! Both dishes were amazing! My dish came with a side of jerk sauce which i used very carefully. The chicken was grilled perfect and had a wonderful flavor. Julie's stewed chicken had amazing exotic flavor cooked in a brown sauce. Our server brought me a small side of that wonderful sauce to sample with my meal. The rice and pigeon peas were cooked wonderfully and the salad was cold and crisp. All in all, the experience was excellent including the prices for this authentic taste. We were told local families have visited and grown up in this restaurant over the past 12 years! I'm only sorry i didn't visit sooner!!!

10/10 experience. A true gem in Boca, I've been twice already and every time I'm in Boca I will dine in at this restaurant at least once. I love caribbean food, so to know that they have a nice Jamaican restaurant as good as Rocksteady in South Florida warms my heart. They have earned a regular. Food quality is amazing, and service is great. It's a small intimate restaurant, with a great noise level for business conversations, or casual dates. I loved curry chicken, it was my favorite dish on the menu. I liked oxtail, and the island duck as well. Highly recommend.

on a slow Tuesday the owner was very sweet and had a conversation with me which made me feel like I belong which is what hospitality is all about. fine dining feel with an elegant atmosphere. fair prices for great quality. Food came out quick and satiated my appetite for caribbean cuisine. have not been here in a few years, and it was a pleasure to dine here again. Best in Boca Raton for certain.

Proof of last night's Uber eats order

I ordered from here last night because they averaged a 4.8 on UberEats. I ordered a steam fish with Cabbage and boiled yuca. First, the food arrived cold; not refrigerator-cold, but cold like it had been out for a while. Typically the "gravy" steam fish is in is see-through, but this was opaque. Although it's not a familiar look, it doesn't smell bad so I start to eat it. I end up tasting something bitter and stop, thinking it was the red pepper. I taste a piece without the pepper and it tastes fine. So I continue to eat. The cabbage was disgusting and the yuca wasn't cooked all the way through, so I just focused on the fish. I get to the a piece near the bone and the entire piece of fish tastes bitter. This is when I realize the fish is spoiled. I go back to watching my show and about 15 minutes later I start to feel lightheaded, then cold sweat takes my skin and I start to feel nauseous. My belly is hurting and I sit in the bathroom while leaning over a bucket. DO NOT EAT HERE! I'm not sure how something like this could have happened, but I was overlooking so many red flags that were clues to this restaurants integrity in regards to food quality. They are obviously letting the food sit out at room temp for 4+ hours, because how else would you explain something that is made to order arriving lukewarm? Maybe they've had a fallout with the chef and trying to buy their time. Idk, but I am shocked that a Jamaican restaurant with such a high rank is practicing poor food management in a way that is risking people's lives.

It's a little hard finding a good jamaican place with good food! I was craving it and this place is near my job so i ordered the rocksteady jerk chicken with rice and peas and plantains. The chicke. Was cooked to perfection and the sauce is amazing, however the rice was not my favorite i was quite disappointed it had like no flavor which i kind of knew as soon as i saw it cause it was soo pale. I've had one of their sandwiches before which is amazing! Because its not served on regular bread it's on coco bread. Id definitely recommend though!

It transports you to an Italian NY deli. The place is packed, bustling spot and that alone tells you everything you need to know. You know it's good when you walk in and the place is packed. We split the Chicken Cutlet Florentine and it was absolutely incredible. Heads up: the full size is massive, so splitting it is definitely the move and still totally worth it!! The service was super friendly despite how busy it was. I had my eye on the black & white cookie too because what's an authentic Italian deli without one? The sandwich itself was good, made with quality ingredients and solid flavor overall. The bread and fillings were fresh, and you can tell they care about what they're serving. One small detail: I wasn't offered any sauce suggestions, and because of that, my sandwich ended up feeling a bit dry. I think a simple recommendation from the staff would've elevated the experience. Still, it was tasty and reasonably priced. The place is small, but it gets the job done -- very much a neighborhood deli vibe. Overall, a good, no-frills sandwich spot worth trying, especially if you're already in the area.

Laspada had a lit up sign in the window saying they're "open." I seem to recall Next Door Boca giving them decent reviews. I am a native of Philly, hometown of the hoagie. I thought I'd give this place a try. I ran from my car through the rain and tugged on the door....locked. The door hours say open at 11! So much for the lit "open" sign. They have outdoor metal tables and chairs under an awning. I sat at an outdoor table for ten minutes. I looked through the storefront window at a couple employees prepping and I read the wall menu. A guy unlocked the place at 11. I let a young family and several other guys go ahead of me. Guy at the slicing wheel waited on me. I ordered a small Mama Lastrada turkey & salami on wheat. There's about a half dozen employees behind the counter dealing with the assembly line of customers and sandwiches. Guy at the slicing wheel tells me one of the other guys will work on my sandwich. Okay. However, I can't move down the line because there's customers still lined up ahead of me waiting for their food. Slicing wheel guy looks up at me a minute later and asks what he can get for me. I look back at him waiting for him to recognize me from a minute ago when he already had sliced my order. No recognition! I repeated my order to him. Now he remembers me! He again refers me to one of his junior sandwich prep guys. I overheard him telling a busy junior guy, "This is just a small Mama on wheat" or something like that. Still, I can't go down the line because there's guy ahead of me had placed an order for 3 sandwiches. I swear to you that the slicing wheel guy asks me for a THIRD time for my order! By this time, I felt like I was in a Monty Python sketch. I repeated my order. Again, he refers me to a third junior associate (Manny, Moe, and Jack)? Finally, a young associate asked me for toppings. I had noticed two lettuce bins. One bin looked fine. The other looked a little brown. I decided to skip the lettuce rather than ask him to pick from the left hand bin and embarrass them. I also saw a black speck in the onion bin. It probably was nothing but I decided to skip onions just to be safe. I chose tomatoes, Swiss cheese, pickles and sweet peppers. The debit card reader asks if I want to tip. I skipped that. Price was reasonable. Hoagie was okay. The roll was soggy. Philly hoagie shops pride themselves on their rolls. I understand this is Florida, not Philly. I can appreciate this place is popular and busy. However, being asked for my order 3 times by the same experienced worker there left me feeling less than special as a customer.

So we decided to check out Fresco (which we only discovered when we drove by in the parking lot). Turns out they have been around for quite sometime and it was obvious they are in business to service the workers/staff in the area since they are closed on weekends and only serve breakfast and lunch. They have juices and coffees and smoothies... I ordered the STRAW-NANA (strawberry and banana); loved it. They offer a variety of breakfast sandwiches and wraps; plus platters and bagels; plenty of options. My wife got their TORANI WRAP (eggs, tomatoes and sautéed spinach but she excluded the provolone). She loved her wrap. The menu has a very impressive lunch section... wraps, salads, panini sandwiches and overstuffed sandwiches and THEY ARE NOT BASIC. The combinations and ingredients bring out the appetite for sure. I ended up trying their FIRENZE PANINI (grilled chicken breast with roasted red peppers, sautéed baby spinach, provolone and pesto aioli); this sh#t was delicious. FIVE STARS. GAS STATION? YES. GAS STATION? ALSO YES…read more Let's get something straight. Some of the best food on earth comes from places that look like you shouldn't trust them. Gas stations. Side streets. Tiny counters with three tables and a refrigerator humming in the corner. I saw WhatSub on Yelp and thought, "Alright. Let's see if the hype survives State Road 7." It didn't just survive. It flexed. I am fully on board with five-star gas station cuisine. In fact, I seek it out. And WhatSub doesn't just play the game -- it competes internationally. This place comes dangerously close to Sandwich Master in Turin, Italy. I'm not exaggerating. And it narrowly beats out Generoso's in Coral Springs, which is not an easy feat. The bread? Legit. The meats? Layered like someone actually respects the architecture of a sandwich. The balance? No soggy mess. No overkill. No amateur hour. And then the cannoli. Freshly piped. Not pre-filled. Not sitting there getting sad and humid. Fresh. Filled to order. Shell still crisp. Ricotta smooth and balanced -- not overly sweet, not grainy, not lazy. Best cannoli I've had in South Florida since Lorenzo's in North Miami Beach. That's not a casual comparison. That's a statement. Now let's talk atmosphere. It's technically in a gas station plaza -- and yet the owners and staff are actually speaking Italian behind the counter. Not performative. Not touristy. Just normal conversation like you accidentally stepped into a deli in Torino. It feels real. So real that I went back the next day. And then again. I am not joking. When I ask myself, "What was my favorite thing?" the answer is dangerous: Everything I ordered. Cold subs. Hot subs. Cannoli. Repeat. This is the kind of place you almost don't want to write about because once the word spreads, lines get longer and secrets disappear. But credit where credit is due. WhatSub is proof that greatness doesn't need chandeliers. Sometimes it just needs good bread, proper technique, and someone who actually cares.

Came here because I saw it was a new Italian sub shop near my area. Saw good reviews and wanted to…read moretry it myself. Behind the counter was a husband/wife duo who were the business owners (didn't get their names) who stated they were from Sicily. After much deliberation, I decided to order the Arthur Ave and the Milano. The Arthur Ave is a cold sandwich that had prosciutto, arugula, stracciatella, sun dried tomato. You have a choice of bread from white, wheat rolls, and focaccia. I was informed by the husband the focaccia is made fresh daily by his wife so of course I had to try that. The wife was nice enough to let me try a sample of the prosciutto and I have to say -- it was delicious, so getting it on a sandwich was going to be a no-brainer. The Milano was for my father. Watching them make the sandwich, they put two huge pieces of chicken cutlet, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and freshly sliced mozzarella. Again, I got the focaccia bread. Both sandwich's were drizzled on the top of the focaccia bread with fresh Italian olive oil which was just the cherry on top. I had told the owners it was my first time and we had a great conversation, that they were nice enough to give me and my parents 3 free mini cannolis -- which was completely unexpected and highly appreciated! As far as the food goes, I don't have enough adjectives in my vocabulary to describe how delicious this sandwich was. From the delicious meats, the fresh veggies, and my personal favorite part -- that focaccia bread. I would buy that alone. They had specials on their menu the day I went that was a not on their menu -- a meatball sub and arancini balls. Also, keep in mind, that this shop is inside the Mobil gas station on 441 and SW 18th. There is a sign on the outside of the gas station, but if you're driving by and unsure of the location, I can confirm it is inside the Mobil. Overall, a great experience; delicious food, great people behind the counter. Only caveat I would say is it is a little bit higher price for a sandwich, but with the current economy where a McDonalds burger is over 10 bucks, you truly get what you pay for and that is top quality, fresh and delicious food. Will definitely be coming back here in the future.
