JAMAICAN + JAMAICAN CHINESE... IN THE MIDDLE OF WEST BOCA RATON?!?!?! I almost can't believe I'm writing this review. If you know me, you know how hard I am on food down here because it is NEVER like NYC. I've been searching for those flavors for eight years and have been disappointed over and over again. Well... NOT THIS TIME. The fact that this place is serving authentic Jamaican food AND Jamaican Chinese food right in the middle of WEST BOCA RATON?!?!?! Where have you been all my life?! From the moment we walked in, Jerome, the owner, and everyone working there were INCREDIBLE. So welcoming, friendly, attentive, and genuinely excited about the food they're serving. The hospitality alone deserves five stars. But THE FOOD?!?! Hands down, the best Jamaican and Jamaican Chinese food I've had since leaving NYC eight years ago. Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, fresh, and plentiful. We clearly ordered like we were feeding an entire army , but I wanted to try EVERYTHING! And looking at this spread, I think we came pretty close. And now for the statement that may get me in trouble with my NYC people... I actually think it's BETTER than The Door!!! Yes. I SAID IT. If you know The Door in Queens, you understand just how serious that statement is. IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW! Finding food like this would have made me happy anywhere in South Florida. But finding it in the middle of WEST BOCA?!?! I'm still shocked. My Jamaican boyfriend was craving authentic Jamaican food but we live in Boca... so to our surprise we found island nyammins, read the great reviews, and decided to order delivery. My boyfriend does not eat Jamaican food just anywhere but when I tell you he was the happiest I've ever seen him opening the plates and eating this food... he got the jerk chicken & Rasta pasta, and I got the brown stew chicken and a beef Pattie. The portions were generous. He was shocked! He said and I quote "yo dawg true yardy food" and said he has to tell his fellow local Jamaican friends! And happy you're only 2 miles away. read more

This is the Jamaican food I've been looking for! Found this place while picking up Chinese takeout. They share a kitchen with a Chinese restaurant. I was stoked they have all the usual Jamaican dishes! We got the Dutch Pot curried goat, Barbie Fry chicken, and Island Fry chicken. All excellent and very generous portions. Prices are very reasonable as well. It's take out only. Service is a little slow but good food takes time! They'll be on the regular takeout rotation for sure! read more

Been meaning to hit this joint for a while. It's a Caribbean Take out joint located in a Chinese take out joint. Can you beat that? Apparently they have a Caribbean chef and he deserves a gold medal. Ordered the beef patties, jerk chicken and the curry veggie chunks. Yo, the portions are stupendous! The price is one of the very few that I've seen that was super worth it. Comes with all the sides. Cabbage side. Veggie side. And usually if food is super high in salt or additives I'll get dry mouth after eating it and my stomach won't stop singing and growling. No such behavior this time so I'm saying the food is good quality. Ride on Jamaican Chinese connection!! Closed Sundays and you have to order the Caribbean food like 30 mins ahead of pick up time. Best Caribbean take out in Boca is located inside a Chinese take out & is called Island Nyammins making Jamaican food from scratch. I had the oxtail dinner with rice & peas, plantains & fried cabbage. The oxtails were fall off the bone soft, you can taste the coconut milk in the rice & peas so you know an island chef is in the kitchen. Call first because they cook the meal after you place the order for pick up. Parking is easy and the prices were reasonable. I would highly recommend. read more

Holy! This place is definitely a Hit! I'm so glad it's close. I got a medium Dutch pot curry goat with rice and peas, cabbage and plantain. So Good, cabbage was the best I've ever had. Absolutely incredible! We randomly found them on GrubHub and thought "man, it's Boca. Will this be the real deal?"... and boy were we surprised! My husband is Jamaican and I'm Bahamian so we know good Jamaican food. This place wins HANDS DOWN. We got the oxtail, rice and peas, jerk pork, jerk chicken and spare ribs. 10/10 across the board. It was so good, I took my entire lunch hour to go back 3 days later. And I really only went in person because I needed to tell the chef to his face that he better never leave! You will have to wait if you order in person, but it's worth it. Others have said it, but just in case you missed it - they're a virtual kitchen located inside Hunan Kitchen Chinese restaurant.
