We placed our order at the counter and found a table to wait while our Steak plate was cooked to order. We gathered our condiments from the Onion and Sauces bar while waiting. As it turned out, we were glad we couldn't have lunch at another place nearby, and came here instead. We wound up having a very good lunch. Relatively inexpensive, served pretty quickly, and enjoyable. This is a fast casual Peruvian restaurant that reminded us of La Granja. It's located on the east side of Federal Highway. There's parking outside the free standing building. Inside, you order and pay at the counter and they call the receipt number or your food name so you will pick it up. There was only one guy at the register taking orders and payments -- in person and on the phone -- and preparing the trays. But he had it together. We got the number five combo -- grilled steak -- with yellow rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. It was enough for us to share. The steak is a flat thin one. The yellow rice and black beans were good. The plantains were nicely caramelized. They have a sauce bar. I tried the green sauce and the vinegar one. I preferred the green. He got the corn sauce and regular vinegar. They also have a chopped onion bar where he got the "hot" onions. I just got some lime wedges. Oh, and a soda also comes with the combo. This is a mirror image of La Granja restaurant. The food is quite delicious and better than the original. The staff is always very friendly and the restaurant is decorated so nicely. The sauce bar with the chopped onions and parsley is also a nice added touch. I would give this place 0 stars if possible. Not because of the food itself but the staff. After I ordered my food I eat half of it and went to get a box at the register, so I can save the rest for later. Not only was ignored for 5 minutes straight. The same manager that was up front next to an employee while I was ignored and waiting, went over and threw trash on my food and went to dump it. I told him very patiently/kindly that I wasn't done with my food. He just muttered something under his breath and walked away. The food was good typical Latin food, it could use a bit more seasoning the black beans and yellow rice. Portions were big and could easily serve two people. I have always been "ehh" on this particular restaurant. The staff is mostly spanish & many do not speak english. Being a non-spanish speaker, I immediately feel isolated. They do not even try to engage customers or act friendly. There is a good variety of food choices, that range from good to (again) "ehh." The restaurant itself is almost always empty, but the drive thru is often full. One meal I ordered recently was a chicken wrap. It was large, but the chicken was bland, tasteless, & forgettable, like the restaurant! I know some folks like this place. It just seems to cater to blue collar spanish individuals, which is fine. Highlight: How has no one written a review for this place yet? Sister and I decided to give this place a shot bc we were hungry and needed something fast but wanted to try something new for dinner. El Granero is a fast food Peruvian cuisine place that sells fares such as arroz, plantains, steak, chicken, seafood, and arepas! I think the seafood soup and arepas make this place super unique and set apart from the other fast food giants such as Pollo Tropical, because its food doesn't taste too bland or too greasy like some mass food chain made it- the food here could pass for a sit down home style cooking place. What we got: Seafood soup- this really is seafood soup- some places make soup with bits of seafood but this thing was chock full of seafood- so it can truly be called a seafood soup. It was squid rings, shrimp, mussels, corn, and potato in a clear soothing shrimp seafood broth. It's very soothing and light and I recommend it for anyone who wants something healthy and wholesome but has a robust flavor. The soup called chupe de Moriscos is the same thing but a creamier soup- so get that if you want something heavier. For 7.99$ it is a behemoth of a portion- you won't go hungry after eating such a portion. The 1/2 chicken with plantains and rice. I like that the plantains here were sweet and definitely greasy but good. Some places put too much salt or cook it too long that it becomes mush and you begin to wonder if they used plantains or used legit la Chiquita bananas instead. This plantains are cooked well and perfect. The rice was not too greasy, salty, bland, or dry. Went super well with the black beans which were also perfectly cooked- not too salty, oily, or mushy where the beans make you wonder if you got blended black beans or black beans. There is a savory taste to the beans, maybe cooked in pork or bacon? Definitely must get this rice and beans and plantains though. The chicken was rotisserie like. I opted for this instead of breaded seafood because I didn't want anything too heavy before I went to sleep The chicken falls off the bone nicely and isn't too heavily spiced . It is a good comfortable dinner to have with the rice and beans if you don't want something too oily and heavy on the stomach. It is a fast food place so you order at the fron tan day. Also, not recommended for single women; lots of worker guys here, staring down the few that dare to enter without a male companion. Again, be warned. The food, however, was excellent; the ceviche was top-notch, the meat and chicken were fresh and deliciously grilled, and the side dishes were straight out of Latin America. Best Peruvian (semi) fast food in South Florida. Noticeably better quality than La Granja. The drive-through is not quite as quick as, say, McDonald's, you may have a wait a little longer for your food. But then the food is not as simple or pre-made as McDonald's (and other mainstream fast food burger joints -- not trying to pick on McDonald's). How many other fast-food places have the variety of food these guys do? Have only tried the fried fish and the skinless boneless chicken breast, which is marinated, pounded flat and super flavorful. Great for paleo eaters (except most of the sides are carb-heavy -- you can always skip them or just have salad). The fish is very good and flavorful too. Portions are generous, sometimes we share one meal between 2. Can't really get better quality drive-through food anywhere else. And reasonably priced too, for what you get. I've never eaten inside, only drive-through, but the staff have always been friendly enough. I'm not sure what other people expect from a fast-food restaurant. Make sure to ask for sauces. Sure, they're clearly Spanish-language first but their English was never unintelligible, we understood each other just fine, And yes, the food takes a little longer but a little patience will be rewarded with amazing flavors you can't get at a mainstream joint. read more

I passed through the drive through of this restaurant on a whim during my lunch break. This was my first time. Initial impression is that the drive through took a while. Not an excessive amount of time but much more than you would expect for quick drive through service. I got the lunch special which includes 1/4 chicken, yellow rice, and black beans. I also ordered an arepa de choclo (sweet corn and white cheese). Together is cost me a little over $8 which is a great price. Unfortunately the arepa was SO oily. As I was eating it, oil was dripping out onto my hands and knuckles. Really unappetizing. This gives me the impression that it was deep fried as opposed to griddle cooked. I would not recommend this at all. The lunch special however was tasty. The chicken is rotisserie style and fell off the bone. It lacked a little flavor but I was not interested in trying the provided sauces. The beans were flavorful enough to eat it all together. Portion is very large as well for only $4.95. read more
