They were not terribly busy when we stopped in so I snapped some pictures of the place. It was plenty quiet, minus the TVs and slot machines. The bartender was extremely nice and we wanted to stop in and grab some burgers. We travel through this area on our way to and from Galena, and we just wanted to grab a bite on the way home. We came on a good day since it was BOGO burgers! Grabbed the french onion dip and chips and found that to be really delicious - also got wings and they were nice and crispy with the right amount of sauce on them. Seems like it would be a nice place to stop when they have other events going on as well. I've read older reviews, but they are plenty old. The food was burnt they did not bring all the food that was ordered but yet charged for it. For $14.99 you get 6-7 French fries and whole bunch of burnt bits that they were to lazy to empty from the fryer basket. and 2 pieces of burnt fish, that believe it or not were sort or runny inside. Went on a Saturday night the week of Halloween, 4 total in our party. Place was pretty dead, only 2 other tables filled. Place doesn't have all too many tables that are large enough to eat at comfortably as well as watch a tv when a game is on. Majority of their seating is high round tops with stools or around the bar. Do have to say that their bbq was good. My friend got the nachos and it looked like the same chips and melted cheese you'd get at a high school sporting event. Prices were fair and beer was cold. Meeting some friends for a busy trivia night. Only ONE bartender and waitress and it was the same person! I was sympathetic to her situation, however, I was sick of hearing her complaining around the bar & blaming everything on it. It took over two hours to receive a couple of plates of tacos & chips & salsa at our table. We would've left except we were hungry & enjoying playing trivia. Tacos & chips & salsa was good. When paying check, the bartender/waitress had proudly claimed her extremely rude "children" at the bar and gave one 'little man' permission to tell me to never return because I questioned the type of beer on my bill! They don't know me and my financial situation.. how would I know they used Michelob for Miller Lite & all beers were the same price...FFS BE NICE PEOPLE!!! I don't know what it is about the Rockton bar area, but places like this lack basic culinary science when it comes to making a burger. FIBs across the street put a tomato next to the bun, which makes the bread soggy near the end. Here, the put the bottom bun, meat, then stack everything on top. The darkness or burntness made the bottom bun look burnt, which messes up the presentation of the burger. The bacon on the burger was buried below lettuce and other toppings. It overall wasn't a terrible burger, but seems like there could have been more thought and time put into the burger. Over Rockton Inn, the place before this, they have an electronic jukebox, which is cool! They also have a claw machine for catching your own lobster for $3. You catch it and they cook it for free! When we went on Sunday, they had a special on Wings for .35 cents a wing. They also had a make your own or waitress does it Bloody Mary station. I think that's a nice touch! I had the waffle fries with cheese here, which seemed a bit greasy, but they were definitely some of the best waffle fries I've had up in this area. There was a Bloody Mary DIY bar and I don't know if this is a Sunday thing or not but it was a cool touch I am just not brave enough to try one yet but it's on the to do list. Anyway, I visited the old Rockton Inn often and was in love with their Parmesan fries but this one has waffle fries that made me forget all about Rockton Inn. I got the Whiskeys BBQ burger and it was delicious but big, I was unable to finish it. Halfway through my food I did notice the corner of my plate was chopped like it had been dropped a lot. This was my first visit to Whiskeys. Went for lunch on Friday and the only reason I didn't give it 5 starts is because the service was not good. There were about 20-30 people in there and they had one girl doing everything. She was a bit overwhelmed but none the less, was still very nice when she came around the ONE time she was available. $1 pints of High Life and a burger that was fantastic. I will go back again eventually but they need to do a better job staffing the place. read more

Meh. It's a bar with bar type food. The pricing is a bit odd. $9.99 for a supposedly huge plate of nachos. The plate is not huge (served in a pasta bowl) and they are just okay, but a jumbo shrimp dinner is $7.99. What? The menu is pretty basic. Nothing that you can't get anywhere else, and probably get it better. Our server was very friendly which was nice. We went to watch the band that was scheduled that night. This bar is not built to have bands. There is no good place to put them. The band had to set up on both sides of the front door. When they were ready to start, they locked the front door and that's where the lead singer was. Not sure if that's fire code or not. There were two other exits so I'm sure it was fine, it was just a weird set up. The band, Love and Thunder, was fantastic. Unfortunately there was not a huge crowd. Not that the bar has the room for them anyway. There is seating upstairs but then you wouldn't see the band. There is also not a place to dance. The band takes up the front of the house and tables the rest of it. To be fair, There was a very small area to dance, but watch out for poles, tables and the band. Thought my family and I would try this place. We went there on a Wednesday. We ordered the smoked meat platter, with hash brown casserole and the Irish nachos. I would not recommend the nachos or the smoked meat. The smoked meat tasted like charcoal and lighter fluid. It was disgusting. We spend $70.00 for three of us. It is expensive. Service was efficient and fast. Fun atmosphere. My husband ordered pretzel sticks nice size proportion. Then ordered the barbecue platter. It came with fries, baked beans, coleslaw, Texas toast, brisket, ham, and pulled pork. That was good sized portion and he enjoyed it a lot. I called ahead for a carry out of french fries. I was told it would be a $1.99. Came for pick up and gave the cashier a $5 bill to which she came back with $0.50. I asked her that I was of the understanding that it was a $1.99 for the french fries and what happened. She told me there is a $0.50 up charge for the ranch dressing and a $1.50 charge for carry out. Nothing was mentioned on the phone regarding this to determine whether I wanted to carry out or not, or even place the order, which I wouldn't have. Offering brisket, ribs, and ham, with southern style sides. All I can say is stop! Stop at bar food. You do not BBQ, and the proof is in the pudding. Not sure the cut of meat you're passing as "brisket" , but it was certainly not brisket. Smoked, yes, but overly smoked, and sliced like roast beef. Sadly I will not be back, not even for a drink. First, let me start off by proclaiming that I would rather pay $5 to chew on an old ladies chin mole than eat here again.. If you are going to serve up food that should be classified as swill, please attempt to dress it up. I was unaware that Medium Rare equates to being dry and ash colored, the fries were clearly dipped in the frier in which they use to fry their carp as there wasn't enough ketchup in the place to mask the odor and taste of rotting fish. As for the aforementioned fish, I understand that all you can eat cod means that you aren't getting wild salmon, but to pass whatever it was you plated as cod is unconstitutional. I would rather eat my grandfathers pickled herring than taste an over saturated breading of carp. Fish can be many colors, Grey is not one of them.. The only thing that wreaked worse than the spoiled fish was the bathrooms, I have never left a bathroom feeling dirtier than I did walking into this septic nightmare. You need a Hazmat suit when entering the stalls as there was a nice visual pile of puke to add to the aroma of 20 year old urine and feces... The only reason this dump is getting One Star is because the service was actually good. I do hope the young lady who was our waitress gets one of the job offers she has out there.
