I don't know what it is about the Rockton bar area, but places like this lack basic culinary science when it comes to making a burger. FIBs across the street put a tomato next to the bun, which makes the bread soggy near the end. Here, the put the bottom bun, meat, then stack everything on top. The darkness or burntness made the bottom bun look burnt, which messes up the presentation of the burger. The bacon on the burger was buried below lettuce and other toppings. It overall wasn't a terrible burger, but seems like there could have been more thought and time put into the burger. Over Rockton Inn, the place before this, they have an electronic jukebox, which is cool! They also have a claw machine for catching your own lobster for $3. You catch it and they cook it for free! When we went on Sunday, they had a special on Wings for .35 cents a wing. They also had a make your own or waitress does it Bloody Mary station. I think that's a nice touch! I had the waffle fries with cheese here, which seemed a bit greasy, but they were definitely some of the best waffle fries I've had up in this area. Went here for lunch today and it was all around a good experience. We started off getting served by the bartender and she got us started on drinks than the waitress took over. There was a Bloody Mary DIY bar and I don't know if this is a Sunday thing or not but it was a cool touch I am just not brave enough to try one yet but it's on the to do list. Anyway, I visited the old Rockton Inn often and was in love with their Parmesan fries but this one has waffle fries that made me forget all about Rockton Inn. I got the Whiskeys BBQ burger and it was delicious but big, I was unable to finish it. Halfway through my food I did notice the corner of my plate was chopped like it had been dropped a lot. This was my first visit to Whiskeys. Went for lunch on Friday and the only reason I didn't give it 5 starts is because the service was not good. There were about 20-30 people in there and they had one girl doing everything. She was a bit overwhelmed but none the less, was still very nice when she came around the ONE time she was available. $1 pints of High Life and a burger that was fantastic. I will go back again eventually but they need to do a better job staffing the place. read more

Meh. It's a bar with bar type food. The pricing is a bit odd. $9.99 for a supposedly huge plate of nachos. The plate is not huge (served in a pasta bowl) and they are just okay, but a jumbo shrimp dinner is $7.99. What? The menu is pretty basic. Nothing that you can't get anywhere else, and probably get it better. Our server was very friendly which was nice. We went to watch the band that was scheduled that night. This bar is not built to have bands. There is no good place to put them. The band had to set up on both sides of the front door. When they were ready to start, they locked the front door and that's where the lead singer was. Not sure if that's fire code or not. There were two other exits so I'm sure it was fine, it was just a weird set up. The band, Love and Thunder, was fantastic. Unfortunately there was not a huge crowd. Not that the bar has the room for them anyway. There is seating upstairs but then you wouldn't see the band. There is also not a place to dance. The band takes up the front of the house and tables the rest of it. To be fair, There was a very small area to dance, but watch out for poles, tables and the band. This place was better as a supper club, but apparently that didn't work out either. read more

Thought my family and I would try this place. We went there on a Wednesday. We ordered the smoked meat platter, with hash brown casserole and the Irish nachos. I would not recommend the nachos or the smoked meat. The smoked meat tasted like charcoal and lighter fluid. It was disgusting. We spend $70.00 for three of us. It is expensive. The hash brown casserole tasted like it had cheese whiz. It was gritty tasting and nasty. I do not recommend eating here at all. read more

Service was efficient and fast. Fun atmosphere. My husband ordered pretzel sticks nice size proportion. Then ordered the barbecue platter. It came with fries, baked beans, coleslaw, Texas toast, brisket, ham, and pulled pork. That was good sized portion and he enjoyed it a lot. I ordered the baked cod, the veggies were frozen and precooked so they were mushy. The baked cod was three small pieces they were ok bit for 12.99 I should have ordered what my husband did. I called ahead for a carry out of french fries. I was told it would be a $1.99. Came for pick up and gave the cashier a $5 bill to which she came back with $0.50. I asked her that I was of the understanding that it was a $1.99 for the french fries and what happened. She told me there is a $0.50 up charge for the ranch dressing and a $1.50 charge for carry out. Nothing was mentioned on the phone regarding this to determine whether I wanted to carry out or not, or even place the order, which I wouldn't have. We've tried this place a few times. Food is mediocre. Service is okay, but the staff is not overly friendly. My big turnoff was when we went in early on a Saturday night for dinner and my feet were sticking to the floor. Took me back to my college dive bar days. Not the same Rockton Inn of old. New Whiskey's feel. The original Rockton Inn offered home-style comfort food at a reasonable price. Whiskey's version offers bar food. And they claim they BBQ. Offering brisket, ribs, and ham, with southern style sides. All I can say is stop! Stop at bar food. You do not BBQ, and the proof is in the pudding. Not sure the cut of meat you're passing as "brisket" , but it was certainly not brisket. Smoked, yes, but overly smoked, and sliced like roast beef. Sadly I will not be back, not even for a drink. They claim to be a dive bar, but the price of their sandwiches would have you thinking you are eating at a restaurant. 2 burgers costing $25 is a bit much for a paddy that has had the juice pressed out of it. Fries are heavily salted. Getting back to this place proclaiming to be a dive bar. They should reconsider calling themselves a dumpster bar. Road up here for a beer and a bite with my buddy. Georgina was the bartender. She was friendly. I ate a steak sandwich medium so did my friend. Had a couple beers. Food was awesome. And ribeye steak sandwiches can be hit or miss. This one is a hit. Everything on the menu looked tasty. I'll be back for sure and recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a quick bite. We went here for the third time to give it a shot. Our first impression was that it smelled dirty/musty and we almost walked out. We got our drinks quickly and we both ordered ruebens. Fifteen minutes later our waitress told us that she had been told by the cook that there was no corned beef. So we ordered again. I paid my first visit to the new saloon in town and was underwhelmed! Whenever the wait staff at a bar or restaurant are rude and act like they hate what they are doing, that's my cue to leave. I may give them another chance in time, to see if the bar tending has improved, but till then, Minihans just across the street is a very welcoming place! read more
