Not sure what happened to this place but for an establishment that calls itself a "bakery/ restaurant " their baked goods really are terrible. My brownie cookie i purchased tasted stale and old, be that as it may their service or lack thereof made it taste even worse. Waiting in line for 10 to 12 minutes just to be told we'll be with you shortly when it was finally my turn to order is unacceptable. I have frequented this place in the past with my father for steak dinners and we both have never had any qualms about food or service quality, in fact we recommended it to our friends who complained about no good local dinner spots. i haven't been here in awhile but every time I visit it's always a pleasant time! This is the first time I stayed for breakfast and not just grabbed a pastry or two and I had such a great experience. The people here are so nice and checked on me if I needed anything while I was working away in their cafe corner (great spot btw!). The menu is extensive but I love all the options! The Cafe is cute and inviting. I have only tried the bakery items so far. I got a lemon bar and a cake slice. The lemon bar was fairly good but the cake was not unfortunately. The cake slice was very big and looked beautiful. Unfortunately the cake was a bit dry and not very flavorful and the frosting seems to be made with crisco and sugar only. That's how it tasted anyways. Saw some items promoted on their TikTok and decided to check it out. When we got there, we found out they don't sell those items anymore. It's still fall, and within 30 days they already stopped offering their seasonal items? That was disappointing. The whole place feels a bit all over the place. It's trying to be a bar, a café, and a bakery, but it doesn't really stick the landing on any of them. I tried the fudge chew and it was hard as a rock. Thought I'd give it a chance and microwaved it at home, but it still tasted stale. We didn't get anything else since the two items we came in for weren't available. The dinner menu also seemed overpriced, so we left and went somewhere else instead. The staff didn't help much either. They were just standing around and didn't seem interested in being helpful. Decorations were minimal and amateur, not much like their samples. 6 inch cake is tall - about 9 inches tall. But after slicing and allowing the remainder of the cake to sit at room temp for about 30 minutes, the rest of the cake collapsed. I expected more for $65. I would have been better off going to Porto's or even nearby Ralphs. read more

For the speakeasy, you need to check in with the front desk who will take you to the entrance door. Really cool miner themed speakeasy with a seating chart that has you at the same table with another group. Makes it fun for interacting and meeting new people. I've been a Rockwell's customer since the '90s, back when I would stop in for hot chocolate before VPHS, so it's disappointing to write a review like this. I stopped by during my lunch hour today to pick up a cookie. I completely understand that it can be busy and that there's sometimes a wait, but today's experience was frustrating. There were several employees moving behind the counter, but only one person seemed to be helping customers with the baked goods. I patiently waited while the two people ahead of me placed their orders. When it was finally my turn, the server told me she'd be right with me. I waited another five minutes, and I was still standing there. Another employee noticed and thanked me for waiting, assuring me someone would be with me shortly. I continued to wait because this was actually the second time I've had this experience. The first time, I ended up walking out because the wait was so long. I really didn't want to do that again. When I was finally helped, I ordered a cookie--only to find that it was stale. That was especially disappointing after waiting so long for such a simple purchase. I'm not sure what has changed at Rockwell's, but I felt compelled to share this because it has now happened to me twice. I've been a loyal customer for decades, and I really hope the service and quality can get back to what I remember and love about Rockwell's. read more

This place is beautifully decorated for Christmas but the charm of Rockwells during the regular seasons is just as amazing as well. The food was very good comfort food -- we went for breakfast -- I loved the many options for a breakfast burrito but opted for the meat lovers omelette it had prime rib in it! The service was just right, not too pushy. They were very good and emphasized we could always get dessert to go since they are part bakery with beautiful displays. My incidents go back months because I had thought to let this go, especially because I respect the owners and family. But I also feel like it can't be ignored. There is a clear pattern of disrespect and aggression. I sincerely and truly hope things will improve. And again, I thank you for taking these concerns seriously. *** Original Post *** I have been a Villa Park local for over a decade. This place needs the Skeffington family to interfere. I will tell you what happened and hope that changes are made. Until they are, I will escalate this with the videos I have collected. I use to frequent Rockwell's (The Post) often. Being a local, I like to patronize my local businesses. Rockwell's is about 3 blocks from my home so it's a local staple. But I simply could no longer support this business. My first issue came October 2025, approximately 8 months ago. I was so disgusted by the behavior and treatment of customers that I vowed never to come back. The business closed at 1am. At about midnight, a man came out and started flicking the lights on and off. He loudly announced "I know you don't have lives, but I want to go home. So finish your drinks and leave!" I was stunned, not sure if he was joking or if this was sincere since we had an hour left to close. Next thing I knew, about 4 minutes later, my drink was taken out of my hand. I was shocked. I said something and he responded with "I don't care." By 12:18am, the lights in the patio were fully shut off. I was trying to process the poor treatment when this same man came out and started harassing the table next to us. It was two ladies and a tween. They were celebrating a birthday. He started yelling at them to leave, and grabbed the birthday girl by her elbow. She said "I am a mother, not a child!" I went outside and spoke to these two ladies. The birthday girl was in tears and said she has never been treated like that before. Her daughter was trying to console her. I returned at the behest of friends two weeks later. Same behavior. Same man. This time, the bartender begged me to try and reach the owners if I can. I was stunned. Outside, I met a group of four moms. They were outraged at the way they were treated and kicked out way before closing. This time, I gathered their contact info. After 8 months of refusing to go back to this place, I was finally convinced. I got there at 10:30pm and heard the live band. At 12:04am, Chris (who is the same man who has grabbed others before), came out with a small megaphone. Yes, a megaphone! His announcement was "I want to go home. So everyone, finish your drinks and leave!" I said to him "you close at 1am, that's an hour away." He looked at me and said "I seriously don't care and don't get paid enough to care." I told him I plan to report this and he said "go ahead, they won't fire me." At 12:23am, Chris physically ripped the glasses out of the hands of the table next to me. The two ladies were stunned and complaining loudly. At 12:36am, he came to our table and started taking our drinks. Making statements like "I want to go home and I don't care if you losers want to keep drinking." I started recording him. I also captured other moments that I will save for the owners. At 12:40am, every last person was pushed out the door. One waitress and waiter, actually met me outside and asked me to please report the behavior. I asked how often this happens and one of them said "almost nightly". I asked if they are treated fairly and both said no. At 12:50am, I decided to record the entire place closed and the lights off. I made sure to get in front of their cameras for a timestamp. I know the owners moved out of state and are using a management company. And I have hesitated personally calling them. But I can't keep this quiet any longer. We are not children. We deserve respect. No one should have anything physically taken out of their hands. Physically escorting people out an hour before closing is unacceptable. Insults are abuse. Patronizing your business does not make us "losers". Please, take action! Treat people with dignity! read more

I got to try Rockwell's Strawberry Supreme cake during my cousin's wedding. The Strawberry Supreme is a white cake with whipped topping and fresh strawberries that are on both the outside and the inside. It's one beautiful cake and one delicious one too. I was impressed with how soft and fluffy the cake was. It was such a light and delightful cake. The strawberries were juicy and fresh. I also loved how the cream was not overly sweet. It was definitely a classic dessert fit for a beautiful wedding. read more

The employee behind the bar was too busy drying glasses in front of me to pay me any attention, yet I was the only one there! With these prices, no wonder there's never any women at the bar. Apparently the gals have more sense than I do, and they avoid this establishment. The Post is hands-down my favorite local hangout. It's one of those rare spots that gets everything right--the food is consistently great, the atmosphere is lived-in and welcoming, and it's just the perfect place to kick back after a long day. What really keeps me coming back, though, is the service. Brittany is an absolute legend! She already knows my "usual" before I even sit down, which makes me feel right at home. 02/10/2025 I was so excited to find this bakery/cafe in a neighborhood on my way home from work. I needed to buy a cake for my daughter's birthday. This bakery/cafe was located in a little plaza. It looked very welcoming with huge display cases of baked goods. I didn't get a chance to walk through the cafe but it looked cozy. There was only one customer ahead of me so the wait wasn't long. The female employee was friendly and packaged up my items quickly. I bought a slice of their Confetti Cake with Raspberry Mousse, a blueberry muffin, and a chocolate chip cookie. The huge slice looked promising for my daughter's birthday as we didn't want to buy a whole cake. NOPE!!! We were completely wrong and VERY DISAPPOINTED with the slice of cake. It visually looked good and it was nicely decorated. But the cake slice was HARD and DRY! It was HORRIBLE!!!! This review is purely on the service and unprofessionalism of the bakery manager or line chef whoever was given to me on the phone. I placed an order yesterday morning maybe latest 11am. Needing a dozen cookies that had just broken handcuffs and an inscription saying your chains are gone you have been set free. Cool no problem with custom order you get the inquiry form STATING THAT THE PERSON WHO ORDERED THE CUSTOM ORDER WOULD GET A CALL SOON. Now that I say that, no call the whole rest the day, the next day being today Friday june 12 2026, I call at 10:30. They have still not reached out. So i get the run around we can't do custom in 24 hours. Hmmm it doesn't say that in the website anywhere. Go look for yourself. If it's there it has been placed after this review. I get from a host girl to someone called a manager saying she hasn't checked her emails, hmmm very responsible as a kitchen manager in a bakery to not be checking their emails for future orders. We usually love Rockwell's cakes, especially their custom orders as they're consistently delicious and well-balanced. However, the cakes from the display case never seem to match that same quality. The one we recently bought had way too much buttercream and hardly any of the strawberry/banana filling. The few strawberries that were in it didn't even taste that fresh. What really frustrated me was paying a premium price for what I was told was a mango crème brûlée (there was no label), only to discover it was something completely different - and honestly, inedible. The cake inside was soggy and just gross. We ended up tossing the whole thing. Bottom line: I'd still recommend Rockwell's for custom cakes, but I wouldn't trust anything from the display unless it's clearly labeled. Definitely disappointing for the price. read more
